warmth, this look back at the carnival serves as a burst of sunshine and festivity.
Although the carnival beats have quieted and the crowds have dispersed, the
fashion statements and festive spirit from this year’s celebration continue to resonate.
Fashion was at the forefront of the Notting Hill Carnival, serving as a canvas for individuality,
cultural pride, and exuberant joy. From traditional Caribbean attire to modern streetwear and
avant-garde creations, the carnival’s fashion was a reflection of London’s diverse and dynamic
essence.
At Voir Fashion, we had the pleasure of connecting with Hannah, a radiant and stylish
influencer based in London, who graced the event. She shared her inspirations, must-have

First Fully Adult Experience

Reflecting on her first fully adult experience at the vibrant festival, Hannah shares how it
differed from her childhood memories of the event. This time, she fully immersed herself in the
festivities with a grown-up, stylish flair.

So, how does a fashion lover dress for such an event?

The key piece: Timberland boots. Hannah attended the carnival with Timberland and
Uniform Display, building her entire outfit around this statement piece.
Starting with the classic 6-inch boots as the focal point, she opted for a palette of pastel tones.
‘It means I chose more neutral colors rather than vibrant ones’ she explains. A mix of brown,
cream, and soft hues elevated the look, with a pop of yellow from her bikini top, perfectly paired
with matching sunglasses. And of course, what’s a girl without her jewelry? Her gold pieces
added the perfect finishing touch.

“Comfort is definitely my top priority”
Hannah emphasizes that comfort is always her top priority, whether in everyday life or at special
events like the carnival. ‘Feeling comfortable and feeling like myself’ is her guiding principle,
and it’s something we resonate with at Voir. Defining your personal style is a journey that
evolves over time. ‘I finally realized what suits me, and I choose comfort first—if I’m not
feeling it, I go home and change!‘ she confides with a laugh.
For a hot day like this, her choice of loose-fitting shorts wasn’t just about style—it was a state

    wasn’t on my bingo card for my first carnival, but it happened! Also, the food was absolutely
    incredible.’ she recalls with a smile.

Street style has solidified itself as part of those oh-so-important quarterly weeks, and we’re here to show you our absolute favourite street style moments from the streets of London fashion week 2022.

Simone Rocha designs featured heavily throughout the streets of London fashion week, as we’re sure you’ll come to see the further down you go. Pretty, frilly designs juxtaposed against loud or textured accessories such as platform shoes, PVC coats, and intense reds seem to be a very popular choice.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. This rings very true for those at fashion week that decided to don a tailored suit around London town, and there were many of them. People of all genders were seen wearing fitted suits, many of which were pinstripe, with shades or casual shirts being used to dress down the look.

Soft tones and playful designs were very popular on and off the catwalk. Light, pastel colours and youthful graphics were spotted all over the streets and gave off a very fresh and innocent vibe.

One of the best parts of fashion week street style is that it brings out people of all backgrounds, all ages and all styles. This leather skirt and green blazer ensemble matched with black boots with green detailing is one of our absolute favourite looks from this fashion week, particularly its unorthodox textures and colouring – truly quintessential street style!

The point of street style is looking so cool, so undeniably stylish, that some photographer will come up to you and ask to take your picture. That’s why bright colours ranging from baby blues to neon green are always very popular, and we are loving this blue sequin blazer dress worn by wonderland editor-in-chief Toni-Blaze.

Eccentric patterns and clashing styles are always very popular as well. We particularly like this duo’s mutual love of polka dots and their unconventional ways of styling them.

Singer @floweroflove always brings it with her street style, so it’s no surprise she killed it again with this piece outside the Simone Rocha show. Her classic, cutesy style was on show with her go-to white sock kitten heel look seemingly unblemished by the dirty London streets – how??

We love this opposites attract street style photo because it really represents how diverse the streets during fashion week truly are. Neon tones with showy brand names and unorthodox elements vs understated black cuts – a match made in heaven.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, cyberpunk is in, just ask the kids. Platforms don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon and the rise of ‘archive fashion’ was at full effect this London fashion week.

Finally, a name that’s been making waves for some time now, Harris Reed sported the go-to London Fashion Week street style suit. We love the many forms of street style that get showcased during fashion week, but the suit style is so tailor-made for London fashion week, it would be a crime to not wear it for at least one day when you’re going around The Big Smoke.

Can you get more timeless than a trench? We all know that sometimes a jacket can be the be all and end all of your outfit; the piece which defines the look. Julia’s choice proves that a trench can turn every street into a catwalk. Elevated with a pair of squared toe boots, a silhouette to keep an eye on this spring, and a colour coordinated pair of flares to give us business boss chic.

Mastering the art of colour blocking, Peggy is standing out on our explore page this week with vibrant colours and patterns. Neon colours are everywhere, and this vintage Craig Green orange jacket is head-turning. More bright colours and this time we’re here for the yellow and blue combo. Koleen is bringing back boho with the paisley printed scarf which she’s worn as a top, a style tip we should all be following this season. There’s no need to choose one aesthetic this season because as these looks have proved, mixing is key – Koleen is still rocking streetwear with her Jordan 4s and baggy cargos. 

Cierra Nia

Can you tell Cierra is ready for spring? If you never liked the colour green, you will now. This look is head to toe bold – and we love it. Let’s start with the boots – a pair of lemon Miista heels which can literally match with everything this season, coordinate your colours like this or even use them as your colourful staple with a more neutral outfit. The Barragan cosmic swirl trousers are everything, combining two key trends in one-piece; bright colours and abstract patterns. 

Wuz Good

If spring was a person, it would be Wuz Good. Colour blocking has never looked better – with hot pinks, pastel blues and bright yellows, there is no excuse to not add colour to your outfits this season. Be extra and make it a co ord. 

Ivona Zupet

Not ready for colours and jackets just yet? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. For the odd breezy day we’re bound to have, we’re taking tips from Ivona. A pair of vinyl trousers is essential, they can be dressed up or down and still look stylish. Ivona has opted for a black turtle neck but even a hoodie or sweatshirt would look boss. Never have an outfit go a miss again and wear a pair combat boots. Timeless AND fit for any season.

Cardi B is dripping in Chanel, giving us hot mum energy. The perfect look for spring with a sweater on the top, keeping you cosy and comfortable during the sunnier days. Are stripes on trend? We think so. Add another pattern to your list this season. This spring is all about crazy textures. We’re so ready for June 21st to come around so we can finally dust off our party dresses and Dua Lipa is giving us all the inspiration we need. A lilac dream. This jacket is a perfect staple piece for spring, lightweight and bold. Stenie has styled the outfit with effortless colour coordination, a key trend this season. Pinstripe Highlights

In a February Instagram, Bella shared with us a throwback from her New Year’s Eve. With red dyed highlights framing her face, Bella was sitting pretty in a pinstripe bustier top and a statement Vivienne Westwood three chain necklace. Bella’s beaded bracelets and earrings kept the larger-than-life jewellery vibe going, whilst a more simplistic golden chain dangled from the bustier and matching pinstripe pants that Bella donned. 

Power Suit in Paris

Leaving her Paris hotel, Bella adapted the power suit look in a Ports 1961 suit from the Spring 2021 collection adding a striped blue-hued turtleneck layer underneath, allowing for a perfect compromise of midriff to Parisian winter/spring warmth. Elevating the look to one fit for the Parisian streets style, Bella accessorised with the iconic Louis Vuitton bag, Air Jordan’s, and Amalfi Golden Hoops and one of the trending La Manso rings. 

Punk-Chic

After Bella graced the Givenchy runway, she graced insta with her post-runway look in a punk-chic getup. In oversized everything, Bella donned a leather buckled waistcoat over a white cuffed shirt and a black tie atop The Row trousers, finally accessorising with a large black Givenchy studded shoulder bag. With sneakers and a bold 60s style liner left uncovered by clipped back hair, Bella’s look was an oversized punk-chic dream that went straight from Insta to the inspo boards.

Opera Gloves

Leaving the Fendi show in January, Bella served punk-glamour with a black and tartan number. A red tartan waistcoat over a mesh top, layered with a tailored black leather jacket and black opera gloves, delicately accessorised with gold rings and bracelets. Teamed with wide-leg trousers and a patchwork black bag, it was Bella’s slicked-back hair and black shades that matched the elegance of her opera gloves, balancing out the punkish tartan and leather vibes.

Preppy NYC

On the sunny Winter streets of New York, Bella was seen in a sophisticated preppy look that was perfect for a cold New York morning. In a Paradis blazer layered over a navy and gold accented sweater, Bella kept the casual preppy look going in every aspect of her outfit, with dark blue jeans and Prada loafers paired with mid-calf white socks and golden Jackie Mack Design earrings. The perfect lunch break in the city kind of look.

In another Paris ‘fit, Bella threw together an earthy-toned layered look for a business casual aesthetic. With a cotton-corduroy brown jacket and matching straight-leg pants, Bella layered another corduroy jacket underneath, this time in yellow hues, a piece from Brixton. With a white collared shirt underneath and accessorised with a black leather bag and golden earrings from 8 Other Reasons. The three collar layered look was sleek and effortless.

Dressin’ it Down

In the perfect chic-street look, Bella’s transparent Chrome Hearts raincoat is the ultimate statement piece. Though the coat is a dressy number, Bella opted to pair it with ripped light wash blue jeans, a white Chanel tank top and sneakers to give the outfit it’s casual street-style vibe.

On New York Streets, Bella Hadid embodied the ‘90s with baggy mid-rise grey sweatpants, paired with a white cropped vest and a bright orange backpack for a dash of colour. Accessorised with a simple long golden chain with a rose pendant, circular glasses, and chunky hoops the look complete with slicked-back hair was a sleek look brimming with ‘90s vibes.

Cowgirl Runway

A runway look with hints of cowgirl, Bella walked the streets of Milan in a deep brown embroidered Suede matching trench coat and trouser suit, with a warm-toned orange collared shirt left unbuttoned underneath. The matching brown mask, 90’s shoulder bag, and large gold hoops made for an elevated version of the earthy neutrals Fall 2020 trend, whilst the white stitching, flared bottoms, and black leather pointed boots added an exciting, low-key cowgirl vibe to the look.

Paris Fashion Week may have gone digital but fortunately the iconic street style that defines it has not. 

The Parisian streets may have not been as busy and chaotic as in previous seasons but this didn’t deprive us of the stylish choices of our favourite designers, models and even locals. 

The few yet exclusive attendees of the Fall/Winter 2021 Paris Fashion Week provided us with plenty of inspiration and dreamy looks to recreate (once we get our lifestyle back), with earth-toned colours, statement silhouettes and sleek accessories… la la crème de la crème of French fashion. Check out our favourite Parisienne looks below, and don’t let the temporary digital relocation hold you back from keeping up with them. 

Co-ords

We’ve never loved matching sets as much we do now. You can never go wrong with this choice, and these Parisian looks prove just that. From colour coordinated suits and floral ones, a simple yet strong outfit that will grab anyone’s attention and can be mixed and matched with any other pieces. Functional yet fashionable, what else could we want? 

Black and White

Classic choices with innovative styling. This Paris Fashion week was filled with little back dresses, and fun white ones too. You may be thinking that it’s nothing new but the way they were worn was everything but outdated… With fun patterned tights or extravagant jewellery and bags these simple choices were as exciting as the most daring ones.

 Leather on Leather 

In case you haven’t noticed, leather is everywhere this year but we’re not complaining. This time around it’s being worn as the center of outfits and not as a complement to them A simple leather jacket on top? Overseen… An all-leather look? The right choice.

Though Runways have gone digital, we’ve been able to rely on Fashion Week’s streetwear to fulfill our non-digital fashion needs. From Milan’s Fashion Week Streetwear, the trends that emerged were largely elevated versions of the 90s streetwear styles, with layers, baggy clothes, and bold prints, these were the trends that permeated the streets of Milan and have stayed in our minds the week after. 

Baggy Clothes

Oversized clothing took Milan’s streets by force, with oversized leather blazers, baggy untucked shirts, and the ever-popular baggy jeans to match. One ensemble embodied the ‘80s to ‘90s streetwear look, with turned-up sneakers, a graffiti-covered body bag, a layered untucked pinstripe shirt, and baggy low-rise jeans. When transitioning from comfortable lockdown clothing to out-and-about outfits, these oversized clothes make for perfect inspiration. Another highlight includes an oversized Balenciaga knit with lime green details, perfectly matched with a black and lime green bucket hat. Notably, many of these oversized outfits were paired with chunky-soled shoes.

Monochrome

Starting off the Milan Monochrome trend strongly, the all-pink get-up featuring the iconic Gucci sweater and Dior handbag. This outfit carried pink all the way through to the sunglasses and face mask, but the military-style trousers complete with layered silver Hello Kitty and padlock chains give the outfit balance, creating the perfect sweet-to-street style. Pink was a popular choice for monochromatic outfits, but a few chose to splash a hint of other colours in the mix, like peeping white shirts and bold black leather coats. Milan’s streetwear styles have demonstrated to us that monochromatic outfits don’t have to be plain, with the right accessories and layering, new dimensions can be added to an all-one-colour look. 

Check

The check trend has never been far out of sight, but the check trends seen on the streets of Milan are reminiscent of (but still an elevated chic version of) the ‘90s check trends that built a balance between grunge and hip-hop streetwear styles. The check trend presented itself in a number of ways. Illustrating how trend will cross seasons; a lilac and forest green long-length woollen ‘shacket’; the light and airy colours of which make for the perfect winter to spring transition. Another highlight includes a very 90s ensemble with a Looney Tunes Tee tucked into a checked mini skirt, layered with warm tones with a warm orange trench coat and yellow striped turtle neck underlayer. 

Boots 

A recurring trend on Milan’s streets; knee-high biker boots. The perfect statement shoes, with pronounced eyelets and bold, chunky, ribbed soles, knee-highs pulled together some of our favourite looks from the streets of Milan. Whether styled with chunky aviators and leather pants or floor-length tartan skirts and dad shirts with ties, most chunky-soled shoe looks came partnered with sleek buns. The hairstyle brings a sleek, chic element to the grunge knee-high biker boots. Our favourite styling of this trend is punk meets chic, with a studded choker, leather blazer, and lace black mini skirt, balanced out by a nude unbuttoned shirt with a corseted panel, sleek bun, and bare legs. The ensemble creates a perfect delicacy to the punk vibe. 

Illustration 

Seen frequently during 2020 on Instagram and in many vintage second-hand stores, the rise of the illustrated clothing. Shown notably in Juliet Johnstone’s designs (worn by Bella Hadid and Dua Lipa), upcycled clothing with hand-drawn designs. The aesthetics of this trend were prevalent in Milan, with orange graffiti-sprayed sneakers and delicate white drawings on black leather blazers (a nice twist on the 2020 blazer trend). A highlight of this style however takes form in a double denim look with a graffiti-style decorated denim jacket with flames and circular patterns. Pulling together the look, a transparent yellow body bag with thick black straps. These trends all shared the similarity of being paired with oversized clothing, a crossover of trends that works perfectly. 

Bold

After a fall trend of neutral and nude palettes, the cusp of spring has brought out bold and bright patterns. From Teal and Fuchsia floral-patterned jackets to clashing pink, red, and brown animal prints, our bold pattern highlight includes a brightly block-coloured Supreme knit. Paired with Purple wide-legged jeans and a peeking white collared shirt, the bright quirky patterns and pearl necklace is similar to the recent wardrobe of Harry Styles, who is now often captured in bold and eccentric patterned cardigans and knitted sweaters.

With New York Fashion Week Fall 2021 signalling another round of virtual catwalks this February, we thought it was time to get back into some spring and summer trends and see how they are being experienced in real time.

2021 is set to launch us into more exciting trends than ever before, matching the erratic pace of everyday life with both loose and sexy fits. Runways showed how romantic, flowing skirts and corset tops meshed with stomach and thong-flashing; the revival of the noughties seems truly underway too if the rising popularity of midriff flossing is anything to go by.

It’s safe to say that fashion is truly an unshakable force in unprecedented circumstances, and forecasted trends are more than capable of still making their mark outside the world of runways and fashion shows.

Cinch and Serve

The shapeless comfort of loungewear is fun for a relaxing day at home but can quickly leave wearers in a fashion slump if left unchecked. The more time we spend in lockdown means more flitting between slouchy and structured fits, and the rising popularity of shows like Bridgerton have hailed the return of the corset. Designers who championed the corset in their SS21 collections include Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, and Givenchy, while notable celebs seen embracing the trend range from Hailey Bieber to BLACKPINK.

Dressed up with a full skirt or dressed down with a pair of jeans, the corset adds some needed elegance to the casual WFH uniform and enables any wearer to live out their wildest Regency fantasies.

Maximise Your Wardrobe

The maxi dress arguably draws on the same Romantic Renaissance that lifted the status of the corset. Flowing skirts provide a comfort befitting the WFH vibe while giving its wearer the escapism needed during the drearier days of lockdown, making the maxi dress one of the most relevant pieces to hit the runway this season. Dolce & Gabbana and Erdem highlighted the potential of patchwork prints and feminine floral patterns, while Jacquemus launched a sheer black maxi dress that gave the usual romance a harder – and sexier – edge.

We See Right Through You

Sheer fabrics, whether patterned or plain, were an ideal statement piece for many designers’ SS21 collections. The sheer look isn’t an uncommon trend to see pop back up onto your feed, especially as it can be layered in multiple ways to become seasonless. Layer up a sheer dress with a chunky turtleneck or blazer for the colder months or strip it down with a slip dress or bralette/shorts combo for the summer. Designers also showed the compatibility of sheer materials with other popular trends. Fendi, Dior, and Chanel illustrated how sheer fabrics work well as maxi dresses, while Givenchy showed the dynamic shapes and textures that could be produced by layering a sheer shirt over an outfit.

Widen the Playing Field

For those not quite ready to let go of their jogging bottoms and loungewear, the wide leg trouser could be the perfect means of transitioning into the realm of dressed up casualwear. The wide leg comes in a range of fits – oversized, ballooned, flared, baggy – meaning that there are multiple opportunities to channel the trend while staying true to your own sense of comfort. The wide leg was marked as the silhouette of choice for many designers during London Fashion Week Spring 2021, with the likes of Fendi, Chanel, and Saint Laurent infusing their trousers with a slouchy sophistication that screamed effortlessness.

Cut It Out

Cut outs are a trend with their own diversity. Issey Miyaki, Miu Miu and Victoria Beckham have shown us how the humble cut out can elevate the sexiness of dresses and tops with open backs and peekaboo’s lining our ribcage, while Prada’s smattering of tiny holes along their dresses and sweaters shows that bigger isn’t always better – but more is! The compatibility of the cut out with almost any fabric and silhouette also means that this is a trend that will sit comfortably in 2021 – and if Dua Lipa can do it, so can we.

Underwear Outerwear

Many of the trends forecasted for early 2021 interacted with the pandemic in one way or another, and bralettes, with their emphasis on underwear as outerwear, fit the bill for turning the norm on its head. Underwear is now outerwear, and TBH we’re here for the cheeky slap delivered by that extra bit of skin on show. The bralette is a simple statement piece that can be altered to any occasion: dressed up, dressed down, sequined, knitted, combined with a puff sleeve, or worn over your favourite oversized shirt. Designers like Isabel Marant, Moschino, and Alberta Ferretti only confirm a quickly solidifying truth: the bralette is here to stay.

Dare to Bare

The visible thong was an iconic staple of the early 2000’s, so it’s not really a surprise to see it again now with the rise of the Y2K aesthetic. Following a similar direction as the bralette, a thong peaking over the waistband of a pair of jeans aims to spice up the usual dynamic between underwear and outerwear. Designers have taken to approaching the trend either in its original noughties format (see Supriya Lele or Maximillian) or rebooted the silhouette of the thong strap to create a new version of the cut out (kudos to Versace and Christopher Esber for this one).

A Flossy Finish

This trend sees its wearers walk the fine line quite literally. Midriff flossing sees skirts, trousers, and dresses use tie fastenings that wrap around the waist (usually bare) and highlight the stomach area. Like visible thongs, the risqué trend of midriff flossing dates back to the early noughties but has seen a resurgence through the likes of Charlotte Knowles and Michael Kors. Famous faces closer to home have also picked up on the trend, including Dua Lipa and Bella Hadid, who pairs her midriff flossing with a crop top and a stylish blazer.
