Rather than stage a sombre memorial, Michele approached the moment with the kind of layered

Rome as Stage
Palazzo Barberini, with its frescoed ceilings and monumental architecture, provided a setting that
felt almost operatic. Michele has always been a designer fascinated by history, and the location
allowed him to frame the collection within Rome’s visual mythology—where art, cinema and
aristocratic glamour have long intersected.
The palace’s ornate interior echoed the richness of the clothes themselves. Velvet, lace and
jewel-tone fabrics caught the light of the historic rooms, reinforcing the sense that the show was as
much an atmospheric experience as a fashion presentation.

Silhouettes: Between Discipline and Excess
Michele’s signature maximalism was immediately evident. Layers of fabric, elaborate embroidery
and dramatic draping dominated the runway. Yet beneath the decoration there was a surprising
structural clarity.
Coats appeared elongated and precise, their lines controlled despite the weight of embellishment.

Velvet gowns in saturated jewel tones moved against darker wool coats and layered silks,
producing contrasts that felt almost painterly.
And then, inevitably, came the moment everyone was waiting for: Rosso Valentino. The house’s
iconic shade of red appeared in the finale gown, a gesture that read unmistakably as homage to the
founder whose name remains synonymous with the colour.

Accessories and Ornament
Accessories amplified the show’s baroque atmosphere. Oversized jewellery, bows and intricate
embellishments appeared throughout the collection, reinforcing Michele’s fascination with
decoration as storytelling.
Yet the styling also included playful touches—layered necklaces, textured tights, and unexpected
pairings that softened the drama of the garments.
The effect hovered somewhere between couture elegance and theatrical costume, a tension
Michele seems particularly drawn to.

The iconic Valentino Rockstud made a striking return on the Valentino Fall/Winter 2026 runway, reminding fashion insiders why the design became one of the house’s most recognisable signatures. First introduced under Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri, the pyramid studs once again appeared across accessories and footwear, adding an edge of modern glamour. The revival felt both nostalgic and fresh, proving that the Rockstud remains a timeless emblem of Valentino’s bold yet elegant identity.

A House After Valentino
The emotional context surrounding the show inevitably shaped its reception. As the first runway
presentation since Valentino Garavani’s death, the collection carried the weight of history.
For decades, Valentino himself defined the house’s aesthetic—refined glamour, immaculate
tailoring, and the unmistakable presence of Rosso Valentino.
Michele’s approach does not attempt to replicate that legacy directly. Instead, he treats it as a
foundation on which to build something new.
The Fall/Winter 2026 show suggested a house in conversation with its past rather than constrained
by it. The codes remain—romanticism, opulence, the colour red—but they are filtered through
Michele’s own visual imagination.

If the founder’s era was defined by disciplined elegance, Michele’s Valentino appears poised to

February got off to a flying start with Nike’s unveiling of their latest design; the Nike Go FlyEase. Just like the rest of the internet, we’re definitely excited about it. 

You might have seen the buzz about the new release on your socials already, which is no surprise considering that not only is the shoe aesthetically pleasing, but there’s also a great concept behind it. 

Nike first released their FlyEase range back in 2015 following a letter from Matthew Walzer, who has cerebral palsy. Matthew Walzer (@ matthewwalzer24), who was 16 at the time, contacted Nike about the need for an accessible shoe design that would be helpful to those who struggle with shoelaces. On February first, Nike introduced their first-ever hands-free trainer; the Nike Go FlyEase.

Taking to Twitter to express his feelings about the latest release, Matthew Walzer wrote about his love of seeing how far the FlyEase line had come since he first wrote his letter; 

‘#DisabledLivesMatter The Flyease is for people of all abilities. Remarkable that one letter almost nine years ago continues to bring about so much change.’

The Nike Go FlyEase is designed for adaptive athletes but is beneficial to anyone from all walks of life. From people who may struggle with the idea of getting ready for a run in the morning (we know the feeling) to frontline key workers who are in a rush to those with simply too much to carry who are in need of a more practical, sleeker design. Nike has always strived to create designs that are appealing and inspiring to all athletes (and as Nike pointed out – if you have a body, you arean athlete), and this may be their most inspirational design to date.

From the release video, we can see that the silhouette is set to be coming out in three different colourways; White, Celestine Blue, and Volt; Black, Turquoise, and Crimson; and finally, an all-black with a simple bright blue streak. 

Nike revealed that the shoe is made using ‘a patent-pending bi-stable hinge and midsole tensioner that allow for hands-free entry’. This design allows for the shoe to remain both securely open and closed when in or out of use. In a video that interviews the team responsible for the Nike Go FlyEase design, we can see some of the work and calculations that went into designing the shoe – and let’s just say it involved an awful lot of maths. 

This latest release from Nike is doing everything right. The design is sleek, smart, attractive, and most importantly, made with every customer in mind. 

If like us, you’re already getting your calendar ready to mark in the release date, then don’t worry – the Nike Go FlyEase is said to be widely available later this year! We can certainly add this to the list of good things that 2021 has brought us, with a big thank you to Nike and to Matthew Walzer for their letter back in 2015. If you don’t know who Amina Muaddi is, then chances are you do know her shoes. It is nearly impossible to scroll through Instagram or Pinterest at the moment without coming across one of her signature hourglass shaped heel, or perhaps a bejewelled transparent pump.

All over social media right now the likes of Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Irina Shayk are wearing shoe designer Amina Muaddi’s innovative creations. Her heels even made it to Kris Kardashian’s annual Christmas Eve party.

We first became aware of the Paris-based footwear designer in 2019 when Muaddi launched her namesake solo brand which soon caught the attention of the fashion world. In 2020, word of her brand rapidly spread as Muaddi’s neon jewelled designs and attention-grabbing boots became Hollywood’s most coveted accessory.

Exclusively released and much anticipated, Muaddi managed to do the unthinkable and sell out a collection of heels during a pandemic. No one had anywhere to wear them and yet they still sold out everywhere – quite an accolade for any designer.

Raised between Jordan, Romania and Italy, Muaddi always had an obsession with shoes. Speaking to Vogue, Muaddi explained why designing footwear is her real passion: “The right shoes can make you feel cooler, sexier, edgier, or more feminine, depending on the style that you’re wearing. They have the power to change your mood and to alter, not your personality, but your persona at that moment. I think they’re the most powerful items in fashion”

Coveted by anyone on Instagram who can get their hands on Muaddi’s elusive footwear, the revolutionary tapered heel is what the designer has become best known for. Combining the comfort of a wide base and the sexy feminine elegance of a stiletto, Muaddi’s heels are not only a statement talking point but also a practical heel which can be worn all day.

The popularity of Amina’s shoes on Instagram has, however, been no mere accident. The designer uses social media as a place to have fun – but primarily as a platform for her business. Interacting with customers and getting their feedback, Muaddi has gone on to create an air of exclusivity both through her social media imagery and controlled releases of stock. This has fed the media frenzy when it comes to her designs – they are hard to get hold of which has only made them more sought after.

Muaddi’s personal style is also something which has attracted the attention of her 722k followers, including the likes of Rihanna. Favouring contrasting pieces and combining elegance with edginess, Muaddi’s style epitomizes the modern woman, something she shares with the singer turned fashion mogul. Rihanna’s personal stylist is friends with Muaddi, so she was one of the first to wear her designs. This relationship led to a collaboration between Amina Muaddi and Fenty in 2020 which she described as a ‘marriage of their personal tastes’.

The first collaboration Muaddi launched with her own brand was with none other than the rapper A$AP Rocky. Featuring bedazzled chain accents, the pair came together to create four designs inspired by their similar aesthetic.

In October 2020, Amina brought out a collection of mini bags as her first venture outside of shoes. Dubbed the ‘Amini’s’ the satin and bejewelled handle bags have marked a diversification of Amina Muaddi’s brand journey, and we are excited to see what comes next for the inventive designer in 2021.

This year even in the fashion world, the notion of shoes has been on the backbenchers, which is proved with our favourite lace-up stilettos likely collecting a thin layer of dust while residing on our shoe rack. But this sad story for shoes will soon be thing of the past and SS21’s shoe trends are to shine a light at the end of the tunnel. Prepare to make space on that shoe rack.

Floral

We’re all familiar with the term ‘Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.’ But next season they might just be. SS21’s chicest designers are reimagining floral footwear with appliqué of botanical details for a three-dimensional effect. Floral prints and appliqués can be minimal or maximal, the choice is yours. 

Athleisure heels 

With the ever-growing presence of streetwear within high fashion, trainers and high heels have found themselves in the blurred area of the ‘trainer heel’. This has been evolving since the early 00’s, and SS21 showcases the next evolvement of the athleisure footwear with silicone soles, leather trainer tongues combined with a pointed toe and kitten heel, as seen by Prada. 

Snakeprint Minimalism 

Less is more. Simple and minimal silhouettes combined with the luxury texture and print of snakeskin. The duo provides a timeless pair of shoes that add an element of dark seduction to any outfit. 

Chain draping 

For those amongst us who adore metallic details, chain draped shoes provide that touch of luxury which complement any outfit. Warm gold or icy gunmetal chains are paired well with black leather shoes, to provide a subtle but striking contrast as seen in the Tom For and Karl Largerfield SS21 collections

Crooked Heel

Because normal heels are boring. The crooked heel we see sporting the SS21 runway, in shows such as Versace, are surprisingly supportive enough to wear and effortlessly cool too. They add a sense of both retro yet futuristic aesthetic and look fierce with skirt or trousers alike. 

Rope Braiding 

Paying homage to the gladiators of Ancient Greece and Rome, braided sandals, espadrilles and heels have returned once again. Reminiscent of sunny days and glowing skin, the braided look can only do good in our eyes. Port’s and Etro’s SS21 collections really paid tribute to this comeback trend.

Kitten Heels

Prada really took the time to remind us of the brilliance that is a kitten heel in their SS21 collection. Futuristic kitten heels (with an emphasis on kitten) sat at the forefront of Raf Simmons collection. while still taking center stage, the simplicity of the sports luxe mini heel allowed us to draw our attention to his monotone, yet appreciating the modern take on the classic and sophisticated shoe.

The cowgirl Boot

No longer reserved for arguable Halloween costumes, cowgirl boots have been reinvented for next summer with the use of contemporary fabrics and pops of colour. Center stage in the Isabel Marant SS21 disco-themed runway, cowgirl boots have made their return for the coming season.

Horn Heels

On the runway, Givenchy has been seen sporting dramatic footwear that features a curved horn heel. Beaming with brutalist beauty, these heels are an example of their unmatched fierceness for creativity and originality. 

Laser Cut

Leather and suede shoes have gone under the knife with laser-cut detailing. Geometric shapes and asymmetric lines have been seen on the Chloe SS21 runways, which provide a modern feel to otherwise classic shoes.
