Suiting For Spring: The Reinvention of The Two-Piece

From bright two pieces to abstract prints, suits are back in a fresh new way. Seen on the likes of bona fide it-girl Hailey Bieber and all around creative Kesh, the suit is equally being dressed up as it is down and this new take on the suit is just as clear on the runways. Max Mara have based their entire SS21 collection around suits, think pastel yellow and bright fuchsia, combing every kind of cut from oversized to cropped, and social media is definitely taking notice. Influencers and it-girls alike are getting us excited to raid our wardrobes and mix and match these two pieces for the spring.

Amelia Gray Hamelin

‘Post-Lockdown Chic on a Budget!’

Hamelin brings a touch of spring to her take on business casual, she pairs a sage green suit with statement chunky rings to add a youthful element to the ensemble. The light-weight and oversized suit is fresh but still chic- ideal for the transition from winter to spring. The price of the two-piece also proving you don’t need to break the bank to rock a trendy suit this spring.

Hailey Bieber

Making Power Moves’

For the CR fashion book cover it-girl, Bieber, dons a structured Tom Ford leather power suit with shoulder pads. The head to toe Ford monochromatic look is pulled together with a sleek turtle neck, aviator sunglasses and embellished platform sandals. Bieber channels her everyday polished streetwear but with a powerful twist.

Leomie Anderson- Givenchy

Make It Bold’

Anderson’s take on this season’s it piece is versatile and sexy as she pairs sleek Givenchy trousers with a cutout crop top and open-toe heels to feminise the look. The pieces together are confident and bold, with contrast of the champagne suit against the pop of the red handbag, all adding to its fierceness. It’s a perfect option for a late-night dinner in the city during the upcoming spring and summer months.

Kesh- Moshino

Abstract is the Pattern of the Season’

As a forward-thinking style icon and cutting-edge artist and musician its little surprise Kesh models a suit from Moschino’s SS20 line inspired by the works of Picasso. The suit features a modern cut and pays homage to Picasso’s The Weeping Woman with white detailing. The sleek look is finished off with a beret creating a take on the suit that is fun, fresh and innovative. We can expect to be seeing a lot more of the pattern suit over the next year.

Jesse Jo Stark

‘The Cool Girl’

Jesse takes cool girl to the next level pairing a tailored oversized suit jacket with jeans and a linen shirt. This take on the suit epitomes effortlessness and the accessories connect it all. The silk undone tie, oversized safety pin and studded belt make the outfit casual and easy going for either a trip into the city or a few drinks with friends, all without trying too hard.

Nyouma Tacheboubet– Mirror Palais

The 90s are Back’

For a 2021 NBGA magazine spread, model Nyouma wears a cream suit from designer Mirror Palais. The suit channels the cropped suit jackets and mini skirt combinations of the SS95 Chanel Ready-to-Wear collection. The suit jacket is cropped and light weight, making it perfect for the coming spring months, accompanied by a statement Chanel necklace and belt. The pearls and jewels add to the timeless glamour of the outfit without taking away from the modern cut of the suit.
