Selena Gomez shows us a more romantic second-day hairstyle. Create a sleep middle part after you refresh your hair with volumizing dry shampoo. Then part your hair in half. Start with one side and take a two-inch-thick section from your temple. Twist the sections around each other and add hair from your hairline to one of the sections. Repeat this process until all your hair is twisted. Then repeat with the other side. Combine the twists in the back to create a ponytail or low bun. Tease the front to create more volume if desired.

Get the right cut

We know, it can be hard to let go of the hair you’ve worked so hard to grow. But have you ever noticed how much thicker it is when you have walked straight out of the hairdressers with a new trim? Keep on top of split-end maintenance by snipping those ends up to four times a year.

Get the right products

The right products will depend on your hair types and needs, but you can’t go wrong with volumizing powders, texture sprays, dry shampoos and mousses. Remember to wash your hair thoroughly after using these as a build-up of any of the aforementioned will put a hard stop to any voluminous hair quest you may be on – they will end up weighing your strands down.

Learn to Backcomb like a pro

A failproof way to build volume. Simply gather a small section of hair, hold it at an angle away from your head and tease the hair at the roots with a fine comb. Finish with a small amount of hairspray and repeat all over until you have the desired effect, lightly brushing the hair on top to smooth it out and hide the evidence of backcombing. Easy.

Change Your Parting

If you’ve had a middle parting forever, it tends to get a bit wider and more sparse as time goes on. Try flipping your part to the side to create more fullness on top – the best part about this trick? No products and about a second of your time.

Give yourself a low maintenance blowdry

Okay, this might take longer than 5 minutes, but the results will pleasantly surprise you. Blow-dry your hair until 85% dry, then use a soft scrunchie to tie in a bun at the top of your head – as close to your forehead as possible (forewarning, this doesn’t look cool). Leave to dry while you carry on with your morning routine and voila! Crazy volume.

Master Clip-Ins

Obviously, get them closest to the hair colour you can see yourself sticking to. The easiest way to add/remove length in a flash and you have super style.

Way before the viral TikTok videos or the Kardashian blog article was released raving about the benefit, it was used centuries ago by women in Asia. Popularised in Huango, a small Chinese village, The Yao women were famous for their 6-feet long hair and only going grey when reaching the ripe old age of 80. What used to be an esoteric beauty secret has now rapidly spread across the globe but, is there scientific backing? Or is the proof solidified in the history and tradition of these ancient women?

According to expert and board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Jenny Liu and Richy Kandasmy, a successful colourist – the short answer is yes. “Scientifically, 18 amino acids have to come together to create the protein to grow hair. Rice water contains eight of these amino acids, so when rice water is used on hair, you experience more regeneration” explained Kandasmy when talking to Harpers Bazaar.

Good news for the men too, as Liu elucidates “We have limited studies, but few out of Korea demonstrate it may help with male pattern hair loss, Rice bran, in particular, has lots of fatty acids—linoleic acid and oleic acid that have been proposed to possibly inhibit the 5-α-reductase enzyme that is the cause of male pattern hair loss.” Pass it on.

How to make your DIY rice water concoction:

Step 1. Gather a bowl of organic rice – it doesn’t matter what type.

Step 2. Rinse your uncooked rice and drain. Then, add the clean rice to a bowl with 1-1.5 cups of water. Let it sit for at least an hour, up to 24 hours.

Step 3. Strain the rice and save the water. You can save the rice for cooking as well.

Step 4. Wash your hair with shampoo and rinse as you normally would.

Step 5. Take the rice water and massage it into your hair and scalp. Let it sit for at least 20 minutes to an hour.

Step 6. Rinse out and admire your now gleaming hair.

This will work on any and all hair types. So if you’re in the market for tangle-free hair with strength and length, you may want to pick up a bag of organic rice and jump on the hype.

That superstar is Jen Atkin – the ultimate modern entrepreneur. Founder of Ouai Haircare and Mane Addicts, she’s also a published author, has 2.3 million followers on Instagram that hang on her every word, and is LA’s star stylist. With her roster of celebrity clients including Chrissy Teigan, Gigi Hadid and the Kardashian clan it’s fair to say she knows a bit about hair.

So, Hailey Bieber has just dropped her newest youtube video introducing her dream team glam squad – stylist Maeve Reily, makeup artist Denika Bedrossian and of course, Jen Atkin. Working together to get Hailey red-carpet-ready in a 30 minute time crunch, the hair maestro gave her top tip for holding those curls in place all night.

“I’m actually doing an old 1950s hairdresser trick, and I put a little bit of sugar in with my water so that it helps to set the water as I’m blowing it out.”

That’s it! The revolutionary hair tip that’s been around for 70 years. How did we not know this beforehand? All you have to do is walk into your kitchen and add a sprinkling of sugar to a squirty bottle of water to prep the hair. It’s literally free.

Combating frizzy hair can be such a struggle. We have all experienced it, whether it’s your natural hair, heat damage or humidity. Frizz has a different kind of texture to the rest of the hair. It’s the dry strands of hair that don’t want to stay put. Put a stop to the frizz by trying out these simple steps.

1. Picking the right shampoo and conditioner


Let’s begin in the shower. The right shampoo and conditioner are the first important step to fighting frizz. The Redken Frizz Dismiss Shampoo will nourish the hair while providing humidity protection. To tame unruly frizz, the Living Proof No Frizz Conditioner is the best product to deeply condition. This conditioner creates a protective shield, completely eliminating those unwelcome flyways. Once you’ve finished conditioning, give your hair a cold rinse.
