We’ve selected some of our favourites from Milan Fashion Week that have given us some great ideas for Spring/Summer 2019. Let’s begin!

Alberto Zambelli’s Spring/Summer 19 show was inspired by an Italian sculptor Antonio Canova which was evident throughout the collection. Dresses with visuals of stone sculptures, combined with the exploration of how white mutates into a plethora of shades made for an interesting show. Silver ruffles, iridescent layers and silky fabrics draped over the models made them look as if they were beautifully carved marble creations themselves. This collection overall has provided us with an elegant direction for spring and we’re truly inspired.

Albino Teodoro gave us some extremely on trend prints: tartan and stripes paired with bold navy blue, deep red with dashes of pastels made for a simple but extremely wearable collection. The ruffles gave us aesthetic design details, some silhouettes voluminous but elegant and contemporary. This stylish take on spring gave us beautifully tailored suits and a wonderful colour palette, showing us florals aren’t always the way to go and that spring can hold bold shades just as well as any other season.

A concoction of warm earthy tones, denim and embroidered flower dresses hit the runway at Fendi. We were presented with transparent PVC garments with brown detailing, orange decals sporting the Fendi logo were perfectly placed on sports-like shorts and bras. Pleated skirts and graceful floral spring time dresses provided a perfect balance of stylish street wear and elegant touches.

A beautiful springtime colour palette of blues, yellows, whites and a hint of black showed us that pastels paired with darker tones creates a highly wearable range of garments. Jil Sander came through with a collection of woollen dresses, oversized shirts and pleated skirts, spring has never looked so classically stylish. Looking for a sleek, contemporary look for spring 19? Jil Sander has it in the bag.

Max Mara gave us coats, coats and more coats…and we loved it! A plethora of different styles of trench coat wondered the runway: in bright yellow, brown, navy and white we got another colour scheme that we’re obsessed with. Avant-garde sleeves gave interesting silhouettes to some of the collections coats, whilst others were nipped in at the waist and the sleeves pulled up to the elbow offering a flattering silhouette. Classy and effortlessly stylish, Max Mara has come through with another wonderful collection.

Edgy and chic: N°21 showed a collection that would surely have heads turning. Opaque PVC and patent leather fabrics in the form of dresses and coats were complimented with harnesses of diamonds giving us a rich luxe feel. Along with black, white and beige this collection boasted bright pinks and deep emerald greens. Coats that had interest in their silhouettes were complimented with classy dresses over the top of white t-shirts giving us an edgy 90’s vibe which we’re subscribing to.

Alberta Ferretti showed a collection of flouncy spring dresses, looks that mimicked a relaxed explorer vibe. Cropped jackets, sandals and cargo-style trousers gave us casual but stylish looks. Ferretti’s spring dresses had an air of elegance about them: in a variety of colours they floated down the runway, the pastel ones giving off spring day vibes, whilst the black sheer dresses ooze sex appeal. This collection gives us a lot to choose from and we’re loving the choice.

Milan Fashion Week has sadly come to an end, but that doesn’t mean we’re moving on. A bountiful display of Spring/Summer 2019 looks gave us a plethora of inspiration and must-haves for the new season to come. Here is a shortlist of the most enthralling.

Philipp Plein

Studs, sparkles and spikes: Philipp Plein showed an edgy runway complete with camo printed garments, studded rocker chic jackets and spiked over the knee boots. This collection is a glamorous rock and roll offering for spring: PVC, leather and Metallica font, we don’t know about you but we’re ready to rock it.

Versace

Versace’s runway show was a collection of bright floral prints, trippy tartan and layers of bold colour. Bright dresses with matching trainers graced the runway, models wearing matching checkered suits complimented the variety of prints that were shown. Chunky heels, neon green and cute florals gave us a kind of 90’s feeling, and let’s not forget the sultry black dresses nipped in at the waist and split up the side that created a wonderfully flattering silhouette.

GCDS

Khaki, collars and camo: GCDS gave us smart skirt and crop top combos, high fashion boiler suits and over sized clean cut coats. Not forgetting the hint of neon that dazzled the runway. Knee high lace up boots complimented the bright colours perfectly, giving the ensembles an element of street style. How can we forget though, the under boob trend making an appearance but with a twist: 3 boobs. Add a hint of Pokemon and you’ve got an exciting and interesting collection. We’re loving this straight out of the year 3000 vibe [cue Busted] and will happily take on some neon this spring.

Prada

In search of some alien-esque glasses? Prada has exactly what you need. Alien eye sunglasses complimented the models’ spring fashions. Knee high socks and berets were among some of the other accessories that flattered the spring collection. Sleek coats and collared shirts juxtaposed with bright tie-dye-sque dresses made for a collection that offered us tremendous choice. Not forgetting the eye catching repeated prints along with bright greens and oranges this collection gave us some fashionable must-haves.

Emporio Armani

Standing out in bright blues and greens, the Emporio Armani runway radiated with splashes of bold colour complimenting neutral shades. Floor length fringe dresses in shimmering blue gave us a glamorous but fun aesthetic. Snakeskin print jackets in unnatural colours paired with pointed shoes showed a chic neon look. As well as the neon though we were given soft and flowing muted pastels, a more traditional take on spring.

Moschino

Colouring outside the lines: Moschino SS19 gave us scribbles and sketchy prints in a marker pen fantasy. Clear coats coloured in with huge brush strokes, prints that look as if from a colouring book and a model who straight up looked like a mannequin, Jeremy Scott sent down models in a collection that was from a fashion illustration sketch book which had come to life.

Thimbles for hats, scissors as dresses: this collection showed us a fun and colourful take on spring- who wouldn’t want to look like a walking illustration?

MSGM

Inspired by the Depeche Mode song ‘Dream On’ MSGM gave us a collection sporting the message to ‘Dream! Dream! Dream!’. Knitted dresses and soft florals showed us a bright and high fashion take on spring. The florals were bold and almost looking like oil paintings, giving us a fantasy vibe which we adored. Orange, pink, blue, red and green this rainbow-tastic collection showcased tie-dyed garments, matching suits and PVC cowboy boots….Yes, PVC cowboy boots. Looking to appear a bold vision this spring? MSGM has everything you need.

Milan Fashion Week has proved to be full of bright and colourful incandescent incarnations, and we can’t wait for the winter to end..

Burberry – a wondrous catwalk of black and beige

Burberry gave us a wondrous catwalk of black and beige: traditional Burberry style coats with new twists, pops of red and animal prints, this show gave us a contemporary Burberry aesthetic and we’re behind it all the way. Classic suits in an array of colours walked the runway alongside a plethora of coats: it’s fair to say the newly reworked brand gave us a wonderful amount of choice for the season ahead, and we cannot wait for Spring.

Nicopanda – a stunningly vibrant psychedelic offering

The bright and the bold, the printed and the plain: Nicopanda showed a marvellous concoction of neon ruffles and metallic skeleton prints, a stunningly vibrant psychedelic offering for Spring/Summer 19. Tracksuits and athleisure wear took to the runway, combined with mesh dresses and animal printed trench coats, this is the ‘acid’ Spring wardrobe we never knew we needed.

Alexachung – classically fashionable day dresses

Classic silhouettes which fused formal with fun, Alexachung SS19 catered for that desire for classically fashionable day dresses and traditional but contemporary suits. Waist coats with matching trousers paired with silky shirts gave us a 1970’s flair, and let’s not forget the little black dress- this collection offered staple pieces we’re definitely in need of come the warmer season.

Zandra Rhodes – a fantasy of ruffles and pleats

Zandra Rhodes let us enter a fantasy of ruffles and pleats: metallic dresses with plunging necklines and bright geometric prints graced many of her eye catching garments. Elegant dresses with flattering silhouettes nipped in at the waist had us craving springtime weather, with endless days flouncing about in these wonderfully bold but graceful pieces.

Christopher Kane – an exciting amalgamation of ideas for SS19

Taking 80’s shoulders to the next level, Christopher Kane presented voluminous silhouettes. Models serving gender fluid looks walked the runway sporting a plethora of textures: iridescent skirts, PVC coats, light chiffon pleats and lace layered over the top of garments creating an exciting amalgamation of ideas for SS19.

House of Holland – A cocktail of print and colour

Another designer aboard the neon train: House of Holland supplied us with a colourful collection. Every colour of the rainbow walked the runway giving us a refreshingly bold view on Spring. A cocktail of print and colour, the brand showed suit jackets paired with baggy trousers and sandals, a casual but contemporary look for Spring that we’re loving. The suit jacket and shorts combo is definitely something we’re going to be rocking next season, looking and feeling like a walking ray of sunshine.

ERDEM – A runway of ethereal daydreams

A runway of ethereal daydreams was brought to life by ERDEM. Lace, ruffles and bows feasted our eyes in visions of floral fantasy. A combination of bright and pastel colours gave us a huge range of looks to choose from, fantasy for every occasion. If you’re looking to feel the essence of a fairytale Spring, ERDEM has come up trumps with an array of summer dresses to make you prance and flounce to your heart’s content.

Julien Macdonald – sultry and seductive silhouettes.

Metallics, embellishments, ruffles and snake prints: the Julien Macdonald runway gave us sultry and seductive silhouettes. Crossover straps with plenty of flesh to still catch the rays, this runway showed us an effortlessly sexy style. Dark metals and black were complimented with pops of pink, yellow, orange and red showing us neon can still provide that sultry kick our wardrobe needs. We’re hoping for good weather next season, so we can rock one of these dresses- only thing we’re unsure about would be the tan lines.

London Fashion Week has given us plenty of choice for Spring/Summer 2019 and we couldn’t be more excited. Stay tuned for a further roundup on the more off-the-wall designers who are causing a stir with their crazy but contemporary looks.

Wacky and illustrative: Matty Bovan gave us graffiti-like prints adding vibrant colours to his interesting silhouettes. His Spring/Summer 2019 collection is a perfectly chaotic amalgamation of bright colours and textures. Crocheted flowers over voluminous tulle skirts let us into a springtime fantasy of fairy tale dress silhouettes and edgy textural graffiti daydreams, and we love it.

Looking for coats that look worlds ahead of their time? Jarel Zhang has everything you need. Trench coat puffer jackets complete with puffer bows, strap details and even ruffles. Metallic, oversized coats with almost geometric silhouettes, even patchwork metallic pieces. Zhang gave us a whole new perspective on what a coat could be, and honestly we’re totally ready to be consumed by a futuristic puffer.

Delivering us dark blue and denim, Dilara Findikoglu’s SS19 collection did not disappoint. White and beige with gold detailing, blue PVC, reinvented black pinstripe suits: this runway gave us an edgy take on spring. Harnesses and corsets complimented looks, scarves that defied gravity added whimsicality to these inventive but edgy garments. Boldly embellished suits gave us a quintessentially Findikoglu feel, and we’re now totally ready to take on any season.

Rock and Roll pirates and socks with flip flops? Yep, that’s what we’re getting from MM6 Maison Margiela- but would we expect any less? Wonderfully ruffled shirts, pleated t shirt dresses, and beautiful silken fabrics gave us a collection that toyed with an edgy new romantic vibe. Bohemian style dresses and edgy prints, Margiela showed us a rebellious pirate princess kinda energy and we’re here for it. Looking to feel like a modern Jack Sparrow? Maison Margiela has exactly what you need.

Black, red and leather all over: Gareth Pugh gave us an essentially Pugh collection. 80’s shoulders with rhinestones, metallic pink leather dresses, red transparent PVC coats- this collection was every fashionable Goth’s dream. Platform shoes complemented these looks of incredible dark fantasy. Trippy black and red prints, patent leather in an array of colours and classically black looks gave us a collection that would an edge to anyone’s wardrobe.

Thanks to London Fashion Week we’ve been blessed with array of strange but beautiful styles, and we couldn’t be more obsessed. Whilst mainstream designers continue to push the boundaries of what’s mainstream, it’s designers like those in this article that create unusual but contemporary, strange but stylish looks, and we love that.

Micheal Kors gave us bright colours, board shorts and bold prints with his easily glamourous SS19 collection. Looking for something fun and flowing? Kors has you covered. With wonderfully illustrative floral prints, this energetic neon vision of spring will have you feeling like a free spirit in your summer dress in no time.

Chromat delivered us much needed diversity on the runway: models of all shapes, sizes and skin colours graced us with their latest collection. Looking as if a combination of sports and swimwear, the SS19 show gave us pops of deep blue, red, yellow and blushing pink, adding a stylish and sleek feel to their runway. Needing effortlessly aesthetic swimwear? Chromat has you sorted.

Ruffles, rosettes and a chalky pastel colour palette, Marc Jacobs took us straight to Candyland. Checked fabrics, polka dots, silky night slips- this collection has us spoiled for choice. Keeping with the 80’s shoulder silhouette, Marc Jacobs gave us powerful shapes in soft colours, complete with bows and ruffles: the ultimate combination of hard and soft.

Taking back to school to a whole new level, Vaquera showed us reimagined school uniforms: cropped polo shirts, formal shirts and even ended with a graduation style gown complete with a cap. Among the school references there were interesting fabric combinations and voluminous silhouettes, hints of tartan and pops of fuschia. Unconventional but exciting, this collection gave us an unusual but contemporary feel.

Gypsy Sport had nature on the mind, presenting a sustainable sportswear inspired collection taking influence from mother nature herself. Denim of all colours complimented the pops of blue: patchwork and body harnesses made of real shells gave us a slight bohemian feel, but we’re into it. Ripped fabrics, weaved jackets and jackets with fish net sections, this collection provided interesting pieces we didn’t know we needed until now.

Designers are taking us into their own fantasies, and Spring/Summer 2019 is looking to be a colourful and unconventional season, and we’re totally here for it.

Jeremy Scott caught our eye with a neon colour palette. His array of bold motorcycle jackets, Pikachu printed co-ords and camouflage had us ready for a neon spring. Whilst the colours proved impressive, so did his message: garments read ‘revolt, resist, riot’ among other phrases that would give our spring wardrobe the rebellious kick it needs.

Discount Universe showed their usual sequined goodness, but with a twist. Dresses read ‘not your baby’, ‘not for sale’, playing off societal stereotypes of women with sequined statements of ‘crazy, emotional, irrational’ cinched in at the waist with belts that read ‘whore’. If you’re looking for some feminist statement pieces Discount Universe has you covered.

Whilst others protested real villainous behavior, The Blonds embraced a different approach: becoming the villains…Disney Villains that is. Garments inspired by an array of the deliciously evil characters such as the Queen of Hearts, Maleficent, and Ursula gave us beautifully embellished evil and we loved it.

We’ve been given a plethora of rebellion this spring, and whilst we’re loving this nonconformist edge, we couldn’t help but fall in love with Rodarte’s pastel romance fantasy. Frills, florals and veils floated along the runway, giving us ethereal fairy tale.

Whether it be making a bold statement or appearing a vision in tulle, New York Fashion Week so far has given us an array of must haves and we can’t wait to see what else this week offers.
