]]> With just over a week to go until the end of 2022, invites to New Year’s celebrations are flying around and we’re starting to think about our New Year’s Eve looks and makeup choices to wear. Like every year, New Year’s Eve is all about glitter and glamour as it’s the one night of the year when you can really go all out with your make-up and get glammed up for the evening’s events. Expect to be dazzled by these sparkly looks that we are obsessed with this New Year’s Eve as they are eye-catching and would be amazing for any New Year’s Eve event.  

Sparkling Silver

Silver eyeshadow is a go-to look for any New Year’s event as it is eye-catching, timeless, and beautifully flattering. Claudia, a TikTok make-up artist created a gorgeously warm toned makeup look with silver sparkles on the eyes to bring that pop of sparkle to the look and make it NYE-inspired. The make-up artist used the Huda Beauty Cashmere Robe Liquid eyeshadow as a base for the eyes as it has a warm bronzed tone so would be good to build upon. She then did a smokey black eyeliner to add definition to the look, while finishing with glittery eyeshadow on top. The eyes in the look are the main attraction as the muted nude lip allows the eyes to dominate the look. This makeup is perfect for New Year’s Eve as it is glamorous and fun while being sexy and smouldering with heavy dark eyeliner to bring depth to the look.

Subtle Sparkle

For those of you who are on board with jazzing up your looks the New Year’s Eve by adding a splash of sparkle but don’t want to overdo it, this next look is a good happy medium as it has a touch of sparkle but not too much that it overpowers the look. The TikTok influencer Rashna has used the Mario Master Crystal Reflector in the shade Quartz to add a subtle sparkly base to the eyes and then followed up with Colorfix Glaze in Clear to add a wet look to the glittery eyes and make them pop and shine. This look is effortlessly pretty and has an element of the siren eyes to it thanks to the thinned line eyeliner that grazes the edge of the eye-line.

Calling all Euphoria fans out there, we’ve got a treat for you with this next New Year’s Eve look, it screams Euphoria vibes, and is a showstopping look that you can rock at an event this New Year’s Eve. Created by Malvina, this look is all about glitter and seductive eyes. The makeup look styles a purple and blue glitter that engulfs the eyes in an oval shape alongside metallic blue smokey eyeliner and shimmery eyelids. If you are looking for a classy elegant vibe this New Year’s then look no further, influencer Victoria rocked the 1920s-inspired makeup look using the Contour Colour clutch by YSL. The influencer has gone for a golden glam this holiday that looks classy and elegant while also being simple enough that it doesn’t dominate her face. Her eye makeup alongside her lips and both are as eye-catching as the other and therefore one doesn’t upstage the other. The entire makeup look goes together perfectly and is a great look to recreate if you don’t want your make-up to be too domineering. Victoria also used the YSL lipstick in a red shade and it is very flattering on her lips. This outfit from Kicki is a winner. Brown suede suits will be flying of the shelf. We love the light fur that trims the collar and cuffs. Kicki has casualised the fit with a pair of sneakers giving us the effortlessly cool aesthetic. With a shirt and tie worn underneath we think this will evolve into her 2023 style. We are big fans of the genderless dressing and hope to see Kicki in more similar styles.

Winnie Harlow

Our sunshine of the week, Miss Winnie Harlow. An amazing bright yellow ruffled train gown which we are adoring. This look is everything we need, it’s dramatic, eye-catching and gorgeous. Trains have been covering the red carpets and runways all season and next year ruffles will be unstoppable. And as 2023 is all about maximum impact, the bigger the ruffle, the more on trend.

Maybe nobody gets SZA…but we certainly get her style. An ultimate cool girl fit for an ultimate cool girl. The baggy fit inspiration we all needed. Motorcycle jackets, caps, timberlands, parachute pants and cargos are perfect to recreate SZA city cool girl aesthetic.

It is impossible to get through the Christmas season without seeing pops of bright colours and glitter surrounding people’s eyes, as glitter and Christmas go hand in hand. Shades of gold and silver are flattering tones to have sprinkled across your eyelids on Christmas day. Their neutral-toned colouring makes them versatile colours that can go with many outfits. A gold or copper eyeshadow with a red lip is a gorgeous look to rock this Christmas, as it is subtle but still striking enough to attract attention to your eyes.

Just like the festive period is associated with glitter and sparkles, it is also associated with classic movies, one of them being the Grinch. Therefore, this Christmas day a fun make-up trend to jump on would be a Grinch-inspired make-up look. Lizzo was seen rocking the Grinch costume during her performance at the iHeart Music Jingle Ball recently. The singer had a pop of green glittery eyeshadow that was flattering to the eyes and a basic nude lip which allowed the eyes to take centre stage. Her eyeshadow was metallic in its appearance, and the whole look was truly jaw-dropping.

Now we’re not saying to dress up as the Grinch for your family dinner on Christmas day, but some inspiration can be drawn from the Grinches, and other classic Christmas movies’ beauty looks or adaptations of the looks. From the Grinch’s look, pops of green eyeshadow, or an alternative green eyeliner could be a creative but subtle twist to the character’s look for a makeup look on Christmas day. Drawing inspiration from festive movies is a fun way of adding a Christmas spin to your makeup looks over the holiday. The NARS Hardwired eyeshadow comes in a green shade and is gorgeous and perfect for this remake look of the Grinch’s costume makeup. Festival glitter is also handy to use when recreating a look like this, simply use Vaseline to keep the glitter stuck onto your eyelids and add the glitter as much or as little as you like!

]]> Emily in Paris is soon to re-appear on Netflix with their latest season and as fashion enthusiasts, we are very excited. A new season means one thing, more amazing looks worn by the incredible cast. Hitting our screens on December 21st – an early Christmas present, we wanted to give you a sneak peek of the looks we can expect to see.

We are sure the season’s fashion will go above and beyond our wildest dreams. We are expecting more vibrant prints, amazing knits paired with cute miniature skirts and exquisite suits. Netflix has teased us with some snapshots, confirming our prophecies. 

Giving a glimpse of what will seem like an endless wardrobe for the new season, we can spot some trends already. Gingham is making a strong appearance, as well as knee high footwear. Bright yellows and greens are also looking to be a common hue within the season’s collection of fits. We have spotted the clean-cut tailoring making a re-appearance in the fashion of the characters and the elegance is shining through. The aesthetic of modern Parisian is overwhelmingly amazing and is sure to have fans lost for words. Think bright colours and classic Parisian styles and silhouettes. 

Shop The Trends

In the buildup of our wait, we thought we should also reminisce on some of the iconic fashion looks the show has created. Giving the character of Emily a fashion status worthy to stand alongside Carry Bradshaw, we had to talk about six of our favourite looks from the previous two seasons. 

Look 1: Pink, Pink, Pink

Still having us aweing, this look could not be more relevant today, even if it tried. Tying right in with the year’s pink obsession, it still works. After all, who wants a pop of colour when you have the option of the whole outfit. We can always rely on Emily for wearing an incredibly stylish knit and we think this will continue into season 3. 

Look 2: Parisian Meets Prep

If preppy met Parisian this is what it would look like. And it seems they definitely get on well. Dogtooth and checked coats could not look better than they do paired with the slick style of thigh high boots. Appreciation for the mini plait skirt and cloche hat which gives the look that high fashion edge. 

Look 3: Beret Parisian

An iconic Parisian look showcased here. This is exactly what the show is about and captures Emily in her light perfectly. The bright yellow accessories tying in with the super cute retro striped cardigan is a fashion masterpiece. A really nice and subtle way of mix matching patterns done here too. This is definitely an outfit to recreate for a Spring outing. Not to mention the classic French beret making an appearance to top it off.

Look 4

The colour mixing for this fit is commendable. One glance at this outfit and you know the wearer can really dress themselves. The bright greens and pinks make this ensemble hard to take your eyes off of, and we never want to. Another classic Emily outfit to add to the archives.

Look 5: So Art Deco

This look takes us back in time as it is laced with twentieth century inspiration. The headscarf and sunglasses combo is very 1940’s Hollywood, however the prints are giving us full blown 1920’s art deco. The whole outfit works so well together. The drama of the look is totally Hepburn, but modernised in pastels which gives an almost beachy feel to the aesthetic. 

Look 6: A Dress Of Dreams

Dramatic red tulle, what is not to love. An iconic, showstopping dress which we bow down to. If anyone had any doubts about Emily’s place within the fashion world, this gown confirms she belongs. An amazing piece of design which we are happy to see on our favourite fashionista.

Didi Stone

Power dressing at its finest. The 80s-inspired shoulder-padded suit jacket with its cinched-in waist is effortlessly fabulous. Stone is almost head-to-toe YSL, no wonder we are impressed. Not only does this elegant look stand out, but Stone also surprises us by giving us a glimpse of her leg as we see a large leg slit tailored into the skirt. 

Kylie Jenner

Kylie is getting adventurous this week exploring the beach. We love the gorpcore aesthetic she is rocking in these images. Not many people can make such a simple concept as high fashion as Kylie, and we have gathered some products to recreate the lavish look.

Hailey Bieber

Celebrating her 26th Birthday this week, Hailey Bieber headed out in Tokyo to party with husband, Justin Bieber, and some of her best friends. Bieber’s birthday fit is everything we could hope it to be. Inspired by the glam of 1940’s Hollywood, Hailey makes this outfit her own by pairing the glamour of her sparkly corset and fur coat with a pair of baggy, low rise jeans. 

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa is making us all wink, in this pink sporty two-piece. Sign us up for the next game if this is the fashion at the side-lines.

Florence Pugh

Darling, we do not need to worry about Florence Pugh when it comes to fashion. In a Victoria Beckham sheer dress from the SS 23 collection, she is a sight for sore eyes. Although not available yet, we have found some similar pieces which might take your fancy. 

Rowi Singh

Simply shellshocked at this ensemble. If sweet and sexy had a lovechild, it would be this outfit. We are loving the statement cardigan and double-slit skirt, which she has met with a chunky belt. This is an incredible fit from Rowi, then again aren’t they all.

Ashourina

Ashourina, giving us another sheer, lengthy gown. Featuring delicate ruffles, this off-the shoulder dress is elegant and sexy. She also wears statement silver cuff style bracelets and a matching choker necklace to compliment the dress in a contrasting manner. And we can’t forget about the beautifully pointed knee-high boots peaking out from under the dress.

]]> Gucci has created a uniquely creative campaign with Hypebeast to capture the essence of their monochromatic redesigned styles. The monochrome collection is made up of freshly designed versions of their classic footwear products – the Basket, Screener and Rhyton. 

The reinvented Gucci Baskets are available in high and low-top styles, with contrasting black and white stripes. The famous Screeners with a 70s-inspired flair have been designed in white leather with a dual-colour sole. Last, but not least, the chunky souled Rhyton comes in a black and white colourway as well as a full black.

However, Gucci is not the only one recreating masterpieces in monochromatic colours. New contemporary artists Elspeth Vince, Navinder Nangla, and Shaquille-Aaron Keith have chosen one of their past artworks to recreate in a colourless form. Just like the trainers, the artists’ work are transformed into black-and-white paintings. Focus is put on forms and shapes as these paintings are shown in a different perspective- similar to the Baskets, Screeners, and Rhytons. Blurring the lines between art and fashion and merging the two worlds together head-on, is exciting and inspiring. 

Inspired by lots, Vince took influence from conversations among friends as well as her own body to tell the story of this piece. She puts focus on memory through her playful use of light and shadows.

Nangla sees his work in a therapeutic manner as he takes joy in creating his artwork.  Inspired by his mantra ‘destruction is a form of creation’ his black and white painting is everything we love about contemporary and modern art. 

Shaquille-Aaron Keith believes he is a storyteller before he is an artist. Art allows him to tell stories which otherwise may not be told. His painting tells the story of his youth and allows him to reflect on his adolescent years. Although his painting was already a monochromatic masterpiece, he took the inspired decision to invert everything in his composition. 

The Campaign

The campaign caught our attention very easily as Hyperbeast create an auction scene allowing Gucci wearers to bid on the three paintings which were re-imagined by the artists. A comedic, while remaining high fashion tone is used in the campaign which speaks the nature of the brand. Bidders are cleverly wearing the monochrome collection which is easily spotted in the unconventional auction room while they try to outbid each other on the paintings. The campaign ends with the auctioneer- Columnist Raven Smith- awarding the highest bidder the win. Now that is an auction we would like to attend.
