All I Want For Christmas Are These Holiday Looks

The countdown to Christmas day has begun, presents are being wrapped and Christmas decorations are popping up in our homes. Whether your day entails a family dinner, drinks down the pub, or simply taking some cute pics with your loved ones, one thing is for sure, you’ll want to have the cutest make-up look on. Christmas time always attracts similar make-up looks year after year but with a few twists here and there. Below we’ve compiled some iconic Christmas looks alongside some more creative styles to try out this Christmas.

It is impossible to get through the Christmas season without seeing pops of bright colours and glitter surrounding people’s eyes, as glitter and Christmas go hand in hand. Shades of gold and silver are flattering tones to have sprinkled across your eyelids on Christmas day. Their neutral-toned colouring makes them versatile colours that can go with many outfits. A gold or copper eyeshadow with a red lip is a gorgeous look to rock this Christmas, as it is subtle but still striking enough to attract attention to your eyes.

A great palette that can be used to create these gorgeous glittering eyes is the Morphe 9R Metal Artisty palette which comes in shades of bronze. The Mac Dazzle Shadow Liquid is a perfect product if you want a more prominent glitter glow to your make-up look, as it is a liquid formula that allows the glitter to stick to the eyes better and sparkles more than eyeshadow would. This look can be made more creative by adding diamonds to the corner of the eyes or along the bottom waterline to make the look more glamorous. This look can also be modernised or made more mature by having brown eyeshadow along the bottom waterline going into a flick, with glitter surrounding the end of the eyeliner flick.

Artwork Eyeliner

As always, why not try a graphic eyeliner? Patterns such as stars, Christmas decorations or snowmen and snowflakes are ways to bring a splash of creativity to your make-up look during the holidays. These looks are easily created by using liquid eyeliners or eyeshadow palettes with lip liner brushes to draw cute designs and images around your eye area.

Graph Ink does a collection of different coloured liquid eyeliners that are perfect for creating a cute festive design for your eyes. The shade Milk Mix would be ideal if you wanted a wintery snowy effect or equally the Walk of Lime shade would be handy if you were planning on doing a doodle of a Christmas tree. If you’re looking for a set of eyeliner that comes in a range of colours, the Split Liner UV collection on Beauty Bay is ideal due to the variety of colours they include making them perfect if you have a few designs in mind. Pieces of artwork around the eyes are a fun and creative spin on the festive make-up looks and are worth a try if you’re wanting to be a little more daring this year.

Just like the festive period is associated with glitter and sparkles, it is also associated with classic movies, one of them being the Grinch. Therefore, this Christmas day a fun make-up trend to jump on would be a Grinch-inspired make-up look. Lizzo was seen rocking the Grinch costume during her performance at the iHeart Music Jingle Ball recently. The singer had a pop of green glittery eyeshadow that was flattering to the eyes and a basic nude lip which allowed the eyes to take centre stage. Her eyeshadow was metallic in its appearance, and the whole look was truly jaw-dropping.

Now we’re not saying to dress up as the Grinch for your family dinner on Christmas day, but some inspiration can be drawn from the Grinches, and other classic Christmas movies’ beauty looks or adaptations of the looks. From the Grinch’s look, pops of green eyeshadow, or an alternative green eyeliner could be a creative but subtle twist to the character’s look for a makeup look on Christmas day. Drawing inspiration from festive movies is a fun way of adding a Christmas spin to your makeup looks over the holiday. The NARS Hardwired eyeshadow comes in a green shade and is gorgeous and perfect for this remake look of the Grinch’s costume makeup. Festival glitter is also handy to use when recreating a look like this, simply use Vaseline to keep the glitter stuck onto your eyelids and add the glitter as much or as little as you like!

Frosty Pearls

Moving onto the hair side of things, a beautiful way to dress up your hair for the festive season is by adding pearls along your hairline. This look screams elegance and 1920s fashionista vibes and is one that would look gorgeous for a dinner party in the evening or for a festive event during the day.

This look is easily created, simply use a good hair gel, we recommend the Schwarzkopf got2b Glues Water Resistant Spiking Glue Hair Gel for this look, it is one of the best on the market and has an amazing firm hold to make sure your hair stays in the perfect place. Then simply add the pearls to your hairline either using a hair styling gel or you can use some eyelash glue to do this if you were to be sure they’ll stay in place. Then you’re all done! This look is stunning and one that will go down as a hit during the festive period due to its uniqueness but simple nature.
