So, hosted by Derek Blasberg (the platform’s Head of Fashion and Beauty) The YouTube Beauty Festival will premier on our screens on the 14th of May. The virtual summit will include timely panel discussions and informative beauty segments, all with major celebrity guests and YouTube content creators alike. 

What a lineup it is. The festival spotlights celebrity beauty brand owners like Miranda Kerr (Kora Organics), Jessica Alba (The Honest Company), Milly Bobby Brown (Florence by Mills) and Pharrell Williams (Humanrace). Although they will be chatting about generally entertaining and useful information, it will also include “important conversations about amplifying diversity and equality across the beauty landscape.”

Additionally, there is also a chance to tune in to segments such as Ask a Drag Queen with RuPaul’s Drag Race winners Bob the Drag Queen and Monet X Change, the Black Beauty Founder Roundtable with YouTube’s Head of Creators Chanel Tyler and Pharrell Glow, where the founder and musician Pharrell Williams reveals his secrets on how he stays so youthful. Speaking to People.com Blasberg explained:

‘One of the first people I thought of when we were coming up with concepts for this festival was Pharrell Williams. Have you seen recent pictures of this man? He has not aged a day in, like, three decades. What’s the secret to his glow? He agreed to go over his beauty routine with three of YouTube’s top beauty creators, Asia Jackson, Sylvia Gani, and Nailea.’

We’ve never heard a truer word. How has he achieved this Benjamin Button status? We will be tuning in to find out!

Eyes are the most important part of the make-up routine; even if we don’t have a proper base on, we still extenuate the eyes with a little mascara or liner. The nipples of the face, eyes are what draw people in… we’re going to give you some secrets to make your eyes even more irresistible. Whatever your eye colour, here are the best colours to use so your eyes will catch everyone’s attention.

Brown eyes are probably the most common eye colour, the two different types being golden brown and red/orange brown. Golden brown eyes work gorgeously with purple and blue colours such as eggplant, lavender, royal blue, magenta, lilac and sky. Whilst red/orange brown eyes suit the greener side of blue such as turquoise, navy, emerald, seafoam and aqua. Using these colours will really help to bring out the earthy tones in your brown eyes. For golden-brown eyes, try the perfect Morphe 9J Just a Crush Artistry Palette (£12) and for red/orange brown eyes, you will adore the Jeffree Star Blue Blood Palette (£52).

If you have blue eyes, try out using the famous Egyptian colours; using warm brown shades with gold and orange undertones will make your eyes seem more navy. Green eyes are to die for! They can typically have a little brown in them which is why the purple undertones work an absolute treat here. Have you got grey eyes? Congrats sweetie, you’ve just won the genetic lottery. Only 3% of people have grey eyes! They act as a colour wheel including colours such as hazel, green and amber. Having grey eyes means you can enhance any of these shades to make your eyes seem different colours each day…for example if you want to enhance the amber in your eyes try using oranges and reds from the Beauty Bay EYN Fiery 16 Colour Palette (£10) to make that amber really pop.

‘Hi, how are ya?’. The make-up Queen himself Jeffree Star has absolutely done it again and smashed out the park yet another collection, bound to sell out on the launch February 21st. Jeffree Star is an internet phenomenon; not only does he have 15.8 million Instagram followers, but thanks to his YouTube, other social media platforms and his luxury cosmetic company he has a net worth of 200 MILLION USD!

Here’s to us regular honeys saving for 12 months just for a sunny break. So let us crack open a red bull and dive into the goodies.

This is the 3rd instalment of the Jeffree Star Cosmetics ‘Blood Line’, there was Blood Sugar, Blue Blood and now Blood Lust. With a stunning royal purple theme Star uploaded a video Tuesday 12th February going through all the ins and outs and what we should expect for this greatly anticipated launch. The video featured the star (pun intended) product being the Blood Lust 18 pan eyeshadow palette ($54) consisting of purples, violets, a stunning metallic red and teal. The palette is made up of JS’s iconic shadow formulas, the mattes, metallics and now a brand spanking new ‘wet’ looking formula. The packaging for this is as gorgeous as always; A stunning purple crushed velvet hexagon box, with an iconic silver crown as the main focal image.

Interestingly the public’s response to the first look at the collection was less than overwhelming, in fact, a lot of people were criticising how the colour scheme was slightly duller than some of his previous work, but JS hit back and said it was exactly what he wanted. Maybe he could have splashed a metallic gold or silver in there to lock it all together but hey, he’s the millionaire CEO!

The stunning eight-shade ‘Queen Bitch’ mini bundle of velour liquid lipsticks – a JSC fan favourite formula ($52). Featuring all matte lips, the colours stick with the purple theme: fuchsias, nudes and violets. Our favourite is definitely ‘Berries on Ice’, a gorgeous deep fuchsia which would be so stunning with a cat flick and some fake freckles. We also have five new coloured glosses ($18) ranging from icy lavenders to pinks with an iridescent shine.

The JSC exclusive Extreme Frost highlighter: The idea of this product is that the ingredients are so incredibly pure and fine that it creates this unbelievably light formula of a wet-looking glow. To see the new shade that’s launching called ‘Choking On Ice’, check out the reveal video where you can see Jeffree apply some product to his cheekbone.

Besides the make-up goodies JS also is bringing out a bunch of non-make-up merch, ranging from cannabis grinders to clothing to bags.

The obsession with achieving flawless skin that comes hand in hand with summer always gets a bit tedious. Come autumn, our brains are overflowing with the relentless waves of information on How to achieve the perfect ‘lit from within’ skin, or The five best ‘no makeup’ makeup products for a natural summer glow. Not only are we expected to walk out the house every morning presenting the world with skin that is completely free from any kind of spot, red blotch or eye bag, but the blemish-free skin also must be radiating an ethereal golden glow as if we have just been placed on this earth by the gods.

Now that summer is a distant memory and Autumn is dead and gone, no matter how many ‘glow’ masks we desperately plaster onto our faces or the repulsive amount of money we spend on vibrating facial cleansers and chemical exfoliants in a bid to fight it, we are going to have to accept the dull, lifeless, dried out and blemished skin winter curses the majority of us with each year.

Yes it would be nice to be blessed with skin so perfect even tinted moisturiser isn’t necessary, but don’t you think the world of makeup is too exciting and intriguing for us to be aiming to achieve a makeup look that makes us look like we are wearing no makeup- Absurd!
