In a dimly lit room at Jean Paul Gaultier’s legendary Paris headquarters, Ludovic de Saint Sernin opened his debut couture show for the maison with a scream a theatrical harbinger of the breathtaking journey ahead. As waves of anticipation swept through the audience, including Megan Thee Stallion, Jennie Kim, and Rick Owens, the young designer unveiled Le Naufrage “The Shipwreck”, a collection that blended Gaultier’s iconic sensuality with his own raw edge.

De Saint Sernin, the eighth and youngest guest designer to helm Gaultier’s couture line since his 2020 retirement, reimagined the house’s maritime DNA with audacious storytelling. Drawing on Gaultier’s treasure trove of signatures, from cone bras to sailor motifs, the designer delivered a collection steeped in subversive sensuality and unabashed glamour. Inspired by Disney’s The Little Mermaid and a 1997 Gaultier headpiece resembling a ship, de Saint Sernin charted a course through myth, fantasy, and high fashion.

The show opened with a sea-green corseted gown adorned with shimmering scales, evoking a sultry mermaid washed ashore. The narrative unfolded with pieces that told their own stories: gowns resembling ship sails tied with ropes, a headpiece shaped like a ship’s silhouette, and latex ensembles embossed with crocodile textures. Rope-like pleated jersey voile, glimmering tartan, and an astonishing 50,000 brass pearls captured the untamed chaos and opulence of the sea.

For all its theatricality, de Saint Sernin’s collection also honoured the artisanal craftsmanship that defines haute couture. Feathers appeared waterlogged, chiffon was pleated to mimic waves, and traditional techniques merged with bold experimentation. The result? A line-up that felt as nostalgic as it was revolutionary.

Fashion’s most celebrated muses brought Le Naufrage to life on the runway. Paloma Elsesser, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Alex Consani embodied characters in the designer’s shipwrecked tale a pirate, a sailor, a siren each captivating the audience with a singular sense of allure.

The designer’s vision extended beyond the runway, capturing the irreverent spirit of Gaultier while injecting his own brand of “sensual but sophisticated, slutty but classy” allure. “I wanted to tell a story that feels like a unique experience, where every look transports you into a new world,” de Saint Sernin said.

The grand finale saw de Saint Sernin join Gaultier on the runway for a heartfelt embrace, a symbolic passing of the torch. Whether Le Naufrage marks the final chapter in Gaultier’s guest designer experiment remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s couture debut has set a daring new benchmark for storytelling and innovation in high fashion.

With Le Naufrage, de Saint Sernin didn’t merely honour Jean Paul Gaultier’s legacy, he redefined it, penning a bold new chapter in the maison’s storied history.

Huda Beauty just dropped her Icy Nude collection and it’s her coolest one ever. The Icy Collection Press Kit has landed at Voir HQ, and we can’t wait to tell you what’s inside. 

Huda has recently been obsessed with icy eye looks, so we must start off with the gorgeous 18 shade palette – her last big palette (ever!!!). The limited-edition palette displays the words ‘Icy Nude’ on the front, and inside is full of icy shimmers and cool, grey mattes, but also warmer tones, all a combination of creamy formulas – so not only is it great as we transcend into the winter months, but it’s also versatile for other seasons.

Next in the collection is the Icy Nude Face Gloss – exclusive to the Huda Beauty website only and limited edition. “It’s a sheer, dewy PH face gloss” says Huda, the shade name being Frostbite and giving you a shimmery pink, duo chrome look, great for adding some colour to a no-makeup face.

The collection also includes three new shimmer lip glosses in the shades She Flirty, She Glitzy, and She Fire. All three a permanent addition to the website – so that means they’re here to stay, along with the seven other lip glosses already there. Expect the formula to have a strong pigment, including vegan collagen and vitamin E, but also has the help of microfine pearls for an instant plumped and very glossy look. They are the only shimmer glosses currently on her site, so you need to hurry before they’re gone!

Lastly in the collection there are two Icy Nude Blonzers. They are blush and bronzer in one and are under Huda Beauty’s Blush Filter products. The liquid blonzers come in two rich chocolate colours with pink rosewood undertones, the shade Latte for light-medium skin tones and Coco Loco for tan-dark and joins five other Blush Filter shades released previously.

Gems  

Our first nail inspo look is super glam and very eye-catching. These nails rock an illuminating green ombre nail tip with some 3D nail accessories to accompany them. The ombre nail effect is a classic and one that always goes down a treat for its natural but dressy appearance. 

Green is on trend for the season of spring as it resembles the colour of growth that this season manifests. To achieve the 3D effect that these nails style such as the pearls and bow jewels, you can simply use some nail adhesive to stick some glamorous and bold accessories onto your nails. This will help to level up the set and make them look super glam and fancy. These nails are very eye-catching and perfect for the new season.  

Sparkling Flowers 

 

We couldn’t have a spring nail inspo look book without including some flowery designs within our top picks. This next set is absolutely gorgeous and gives off almost bridal, angelic energy as the manicure includes a white sparkly French tip in an almond-shaped nail with white dainty flowers running down the side.  

This manicure nail art is very advanced so some trial and error may be expected when trying this nail design for the first time. But don’t let that dishearten you, once perfected these nails will look incredible and can be worn in a variety of shades. Feel free to spice it up with some alternative colours if that’s more of your vibe as this nail look is very versatile.  

We recommend using a nail pen for this design as it is very fiddly and precise so a nail pen would be your best bet. Alternatively, a thin nail brush would also do the trick to create the small petals of the flowers. We recommend taking your time with this design as it requires patience and a steady hand.  

Pastel Daisy

If you loved the idea of having some flowers on your spring manicure but our previous look was a little too fiddly and precise for your liking, this next look might suit your taste better. These nails are short and boxed-shaped with a pastel purple tip that has a daisy cartoon on one of the nails on each hand. These nails look really fun and groovy and are a perfect look for our lovers of all things minimal and chic.  

The pastel tip on these nails is super easy to do, all that is needed is a thin nail brush and the nail polish of your choosing. For the daisy, you can buy nail stickers that look like daisies and simply stick them onto your nails. This is a super easy and quick way of achieving the look and doesn’t leave anything up to chance as you are guaranteed to achieve a beautiful manicure set regardless of your artistic abilities.

If you’re a fan of classic nail colour and want to keep your nails looking professional, this purple ombre manicure is perfect for you. This ombre look is super easy to achieve, even though the results look like it requires more effort than is needed.

We are obsessed with this next manicure set look; it is incredibly cute and oozes spring energy. The final look that has given us some inspiration for our spring nails is a collection of manicures that are sheer, pink, pastel and accessorised.  

For the nails with the coloured tips, as previously mentioned all you’ll need is a handy nail brush tool that is thin and can cut the tips of your nails nicely with a thin line for the coloured top.  

If the sheer reflective nails caught your eye, then don’t panic, they aren’t as hard as they may appear. All you need is a lovely sheer nail polish that will be able to give you that sheer reflective aesthetic.  

For the starry accessories, you can purchase some stick-on gems or stickers to help create this effect. You can also use a nail pen to doddle the designs that you want on your nails. Using a nail pen will give you the freedom to be creative with your designs and not be dictated to by the stickers or gems that are available.

It is impossible to get through the Christmas season without seeing pops of bright colours and glitter surrounding people’s eyes, as glitter and Christmas go hand in hand. Shades of gold and silver are flattering tones to have sprinkled across your eyelids on Christmas day. Their neutral-toned colouring makes them versatile colours that can go with many outfits. A gold or copper eyeshadow with a red lip is a gorgeous look to rock this Christmas, as it is subtle but still striking enough to attract attention to your eyes.

A great palette that can be used to create these gorgeous glittering eyes is the Morphe 9R Metal Artisty palette which comes in shades of bronze. As always, why not try a graphic eyeliner? Patterns such as stars, Christmas decorations or snowmen and snowflakes are ways to bring a splash of creativity to your make-up look during the holidays. These looks are easily created by using liquid eyeliners or eyeshadow palettes with lip liner brushes to draw cute designs and images around your eye area.

Just like the festive period is associated with glitter and sparkles, it is also associated with classic movies, one of them being the Grinch. Therefore, this Christmas day a fun make-up trend to jump on would be a Grinch-inspired make-up look. Lizzo was seen rocking the Grinch costume during her performance at the iHeart Music Jingle Ball recently. The singer had a pop of green glittery eyeshadow that was flattering to the eyes and a basic nude lip which allowed the eyes to take centre stage. Her eyeshadow was metallic in its appearance, and the whole look was truly jaw-dropping.

Now we’re not saying to dress up as the Grinch for your family dinner on Christmas day, but some inspiration can be drawn from the Grinches, and other classic Christmas movies’ beauty looks or adaptations of the looks. From the Grinch’s look, pops of green eyeshadow, or an alternative green eyeliner could be a creative but subtle twist to the character’s look for a makeup look on Christmas day. Drawing inspiration from festive movies is a fun way of adding a Christmas spin to your makeup looks over the holiday. ]]> When asked to imagine pearls, the mind often thinks of simple studs or the classic strand necklaces worn to the ballet or opera. But designers have been rethinking how we can wear pearls in the modern world — leading to a renaissance of the cultured gem. 

For instance, Prabal Gurung notably celebrated the gem last season with an avant-garde twist by sculpturing artistically beautiful ear climbers, which he contrasted with sharply lapelled collars and piercing plaids. 

In contrast, Simone Rocha approached pearlescence with nearly all-encompassing looks that flowed in a way that was reminiscent of a Botticelli painting. Generously rich baroque, pearl-style, hard side bags were matched with flowing off-white dresses, and heightened with pearl-embellished platform sandals. Pearls have practically become the signature for the designer, who also used them in her collaboration with H&M earlier this year. 

Pearls have been mixed with edginess, with Julien Dossena for Paco Rabanne who are famous for their amazing mesh and metal garments, and accessories, adding pearls to chain drenched garments, and pairing them with glimmering and velvety skirts. 

Pearls aren’t just acting as jewellery – they also have been seen gleaming up shoes and accessories. From clippable barrettes that can glam up even the most casual of outfits, to pearl-covered shoes and even masks.

A red carpet-design royalty, Christian Siriano, has beautifully laid out pearls on customised face masks that work to fight the pandemic through donating all proceeds to charity.

The high street is also incorporating all of this pearlescent loveliness into their current offerings, with pearls featured on everything from pearl-dotted jumpers to mini bags that look as great with jeans as they do with a bias cut satin cocktail dress.
