]]> The 65th Grammy awards brought some insane fashion looks onto our feeds this morning. A huge congratulations to all the nominees and winners, but we want to celebrate the looks we felt were award-worthy in themselves. Here are our favourite 13 looks of the evening:

Lizzo 

Lizzo is an expert at making a fashion statement and she did just that at the awards last night. She wore a gorgeous orange Dolce and Gabbana fit which was an indulgence to look at. The cloaked coat (which resembled more of a duvet cover in shape and size) had beautiful orange 3D flowers worked on to it. She symbolised the beginning of Spring, which was a fresh and long awaited feeling we needed to have.  

Doja Cat 

Doja Cat has had an incredible couple weeks back-to-back of main character fashion moments. After her full-body crystal encrusted Schiaparelli look at Haute Couture week, we had to wonder, how will she continue to meet this ever-rising bar. Her slick Versace look certainly hit the nail on the head. Doja rocked up to the awards in a black vinyl mermaid gown partnered with full-arm matching gloves. The dress was very Morticia Addams as the train was exaggerated and the fabric plays right into the goth-core aesthetic.  

H.E.R 

The peplum returns. We really loved the Bach Mai look which H.E.R wore and can’t imagine how anyone could disagree. The full black was very chic and the sheer and velvet combination complemented each other so well. A lady who loves her shades, she wore round frames and accessorized with layers of silver sparkly necklaces.  

Lourdes Leon 

Creating a similar moment to the red crystals of Doja the other week, Lourdes Leon appeared on the red carpet in a lush Area gown. The gown was also embroidered with sparkly red crystals, coincidence? We will be keeping our eyes open for more of these looks. The floor length dress was a spectacular piece of craft and was very flattering. The striking cross necklace worn was eye-catching and hints towards the punk influences which are coming into 2023 fashion. 

Bebe Rexha 

A pretty vision in pink from Bebe Rexha. The halter-neck dress worn by Rexha was very classic Hollywood and we always appreciate an old Hollywood glamour inspired look. The Moschino design could not have been better showcased than on the ‘I’m Good’ star. Note to self, high-gloves are continuing to pop-up in some of the most spectacular looks of 2023.  

JLO 

JLO does not know the meaning of a fashion flop. Every time she is on the red-carpet, she is wearing incredible outfits which make their way into the fashion history books. The navy Gucci gown was dripped with fringes of crystals and featured a large ruffled sheer train. Nothing is too much sparkle for JLO, so she layered three Bulgari diamond necklaces and threw on a selection of rings.

Camila Cabello

Camila Cabello wore a stunning dress from the PatBo Spring 2023 runway collection. The dress was very elegant but also tapped into multiple major fashion trends of the year. The silver and pearl embroidered aspect of the dress (as well as the jewellery) is something to keep in mind for the up-coming season. The 3D roses are also a design which we are expected to see cropping up in the next few months. We loved the design and think the minimalist simplicity was complimentary and striking.  

Cardi B

 An incredibly high-fashion, almost theatrical look from Cardi B had us on board straight away. A Fantastical piece of design and craft was worn by the star who continues to bring us anthem after anthem. The bright blue cut-out gown was part of the Gaurva Gupta Haute Couture collection which showcased at the Spring 2023 fashion week. Staying away from over-powering the look with jewellery, she opted for no necklace, but diamond earrings and a three-finger ring.  

Beyoncé 

The Queen B broke history at the Grammy awards last night as she took home her 32nd win. The silver and gold Gucci dress was made for a star and she obviously pulled it off beautifully. The record-breaker looked phenomenal in the futuristic reflective mini-dress. We were obsessed with the accompanying black leather gloves which pulled the whole look together seamlessly.  

Anitta

This look was one we couldn’t sleep on. Striking would have been an understatement as the black leather and lace gown was a piece of master craft. The strapless vintage Versace number hugged Anitta’s figure until it flared out into an incredibly artistic train. The train featured layer after layer of ruffle which led the eye through a maze of fabric. Another gown with the Morticia aesthetic, the Versace gown is right on the goth core trend. Anitta embellished with some stunning silver jewellery which complimented the look.

Muni Long

Muni Long took home the award for ‘Best R&B Performance of The Year’ and we are here praising her for her look as well as her win. The sheer gown resembled a pink sky at sunrise. The airy and ruffled effect of the train of the dress was day-dream worthy. Super gorgeous and feminine.  

Megan Fox 

The slim-fitted white gown which Megan Fox wore was a gorgeous choice for the model. The corseted bodice of the dress was fully embroidered with gems and jewels (which obviously matched with MGK’s look for the evening). The dress was divinely feminine and visually eye-catching as it caught the light and glistened. No surprise that it was a Zuhair Murad design.

Paris Hilton

Last night, Paris Hilton gave us a look to remember. The sparkly Celine dress gorgeously dripped down Paris and we loved the cut of the dress. Cut-outs featured in the back and front of the dress (very 2023 if we may say so) and the super fine straps exaggerated the sense of delicacy the gown possessed. Paris also chose to avoid heavy, overpowering jewellery for this look to keep it as minimalist as possible.

Fur trims have taken this season by storm and judging by model Sita’s latest Instagram post, they aren’t going anywhere soon. In a post that confirmed her caption ‘living my best life’, the model treated her thousands of followers to an all-black evening look that let her electric blue hair do the talking.

Deciding platform heels and sunshades are more essential than trousers, the star’s look brought audacious diva energy to our feeds.

Megan Fox

Confirming our suspicions that 1960s biker styles are the moment, queen of rockstar fashion Megan Fox paired a sequined bralette with a moto leather jacket for a goth meets grunge look this week. While the jean and jacket pairing was stripped back in comparison to the mesh dominatrix looks the star has sported lately, the look was the perfect casual spring wear inspiration.

Taking cues from her fiance’s notorious emo style, Megan accessorised with a studded
choker and baseball cap to bring the look to grunge nirvana.

Rihanna

Riri’s unafraid pregnancy looks are becoming the highlight of our week! On the way to her favourite spot, The Georgio Baldi Restaurant, the star swapped her regular low-rise baggy jeans for a mini dress and ombre fur-lined jacket.

Wearing heels this far into pregnancy is a skill and Rihanna isn’t showing any signs of retiring her Amina Muaddi’s for sneakers yet as she headed out in lace-up platform heels this week.

Olivia Rodrigo

Stylists Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo dressed Olivia Rodrigo in a candy-hued fit’ for her Late Late Show appearance this week. Rodrigo’s Area dress featured in tweed material, bringing traditional old-money energy to the look while the furry sleeves and fishnet tights turned the singer into a modern fairytale.

Mette Towley

Frothy bohemian frills or sexy, bold grunge? This week dancer Mette showed us how to wear both simultaneously. Pairing a frilled chiffon skirt with a boxy leather jacket, Mette brought feminine and masculine pieces together for the ultimate modern look.

Inspired by her career as a dancer, the star’s skirt resembled that of a ballerina’s, an aesthetic matched by her slick bun and simple silver accessories.

Kim Kardashian

Making a case for hot pink as the colour of the season, Kim stayed dedicated to her favourite fashion house, Balenciaga, as she donned a luminous pink coat over pointed high-rise boots and a cropped tee- all in the monochromatic pink hue. While we had our suspicions flamingo pink would be the colour of the summer (after Valentino’s AW22 show saw an all-pink runway) Kim has confirmed that this shade will be huge in the upcoming months.

Karla J

Having a real-life Bratz moment, influencer Karla J’s ultimate Y2K look paired skin-tight cargos with a bulky leather handbag and cropped tee this week. The look was the ultimate noughties attire; think Lindsay Lohan in Freaky Friday complete with camouflage, cropped tees, and rebellious accessories that all confirmed Y2K is here for another season.

style has recently encouraged her to express herself; explaining the star’s bold accessory
choice.

Elsa Hosk

Wrapping up in style, model Elsa Hosk brought a classic chic look to our feeds this week.
The Swedish model paired a quilted beige trench with a scarf and Hermes purse in an
identical taupe hue. The star also took the opportunity to promote her oval, two-toned
sunshades which she teamed up with Christopher Cloos to create.

Megan Thee Stallion

Lindsay Lohan plays Lola Steppe, a teen from the big apple who has been uprooted to the suburbs of New Jersey by her family. The villain and popular girl of this teen movie is Carla Santini, played by Megan Fox. The two girls find themselves at odds over their love for the band Sidarthur and are competing with each other for the lead role in the high school production of Pygmalion. Following unlikely friendships, a journey to New York, and a run-in with the lead singer of Sidarthur, the movie is a timeless classic of early 2000s teen movies. 

With icons like Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox, it is a given that the styling for the movie will live up to expectations. Their outfits represent the early 2000s aesthetic, but in the most stylish way – Burberry mini skirts, J’adore Dior baby tees, and Coach bags all make an appearance.

As Lola enters her new suburban life, this outfit represents her grief at being taken out of the big city. Pairing a tacky, tourist ‘I heart NY’ shirt with a netted long-sleeve shirt immediately darkens Lola’s spirit. I am sure we can all relate to Lola’s outfit upon returning to our hometown after living in a big city. When we first meet Carla Santini, the popular girl of Lola’s new school, her style instantly reflects 2000s celebrities like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. From the J’adore Dior baby tee, to monogrammed bags, and a Tiffany heart necklace, the head to toe look shared with her posse is Y2K trendy and still stylish today. 

Megan Fox, once again matching with her friends, continues the logomania of Y2K fashion, this time with Burberry print and Coach monograms. Beige does not have to boring – from JLO’s look, we can learn to change up a silhouette, stick to a colour palette, and pair browns with gold jewellery for an instantly chic outfit. 

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa is proving the power of green for summer! Pairing a cute, floral bralette with a sheer chemise, and matching lemon-green jeans creates a monochromatic, everyday fit. Dua elevates her look a step forward with bold accessories from Marshall Columbia and Beepy Bella – a neon pink, plush purse, with a graphic frog hat adds interesting elements to a pastel, sage colour palette.

DANIELLE MARCAN

A white corset and black mini skirt, worn by Daniel, exemplifies how to make lingerie outerwear. Pairing a complex garment, like a lace, structured corset, with a simple skirt creates a balanced look – add in some fun accessories, like Daniel’s YSL heart bag and chunky pearls if you want to add something more edgy to your look to playfully contrast delicate white lace.

Megan Fox is living her hot girl summer in monochromatic Jacquemus. The provocative cardigan updates regular knitwear for summer. Paired with a simple red pencil skirt and matching bag, Megan proves monochromatic looks do not have to be challenging – spice up your look with slightly varying tones of the same colour, like Megan’s top and skirt.

With social media has come a lot of beauty trends from the over lining to the underlining of the lips, contouring the face and body and even the use of jewels and glitter. Beauty has moved passed the idea of just putting on creams and powder and more into transforming the appearance. So, if you’re looking for ways to step outside of your comfort zone, now is the time to try it since we’re all currently holding up in self-quarantine (stay inside, save lives), so if the risk goes tragically wrong you have time to rectify it before rejoining society.

We’re suggesting you try the new beauty crazy right now. Shaving off parts, or all of your eyebrows is no new thing. It gives artists room to create bigger, bolder eye looks, and also gives the chance to reshape your current eyebrows. This is where the trend of ‘fox eyes’ has been introduced.

‘Fox Eyes’ refers to a certain style of makeup or just a particular eye look in which the eyebrows are sharp and lifted slightly. They tend to be a lot straighter, rather than a curved or arched brow, following the likes of Kendall Jenner. Instagram and Tik Tok are full of videos of people shaving off the outer parts of their brows to achieve this look. The reshaping of the brow coupled with a sharp, triangular eyeshadow look feigns a face-lift. Usually, the brow shaping is accompanied with a cat-eye winged eyeliner to further accentuate the sharpness which is being pulled into the hairline. If you are wanting to try this for yourself at home, it’s best to use a face razor, rather than one for your body, or alternatively get them waxed or threaded professionally.

Fox eyes are particularly interesting for people with hooded eyes as it promises more lid space which normally they wouldn’t be able to play with. Popular beauty influencer and YouTuber Jamie Genevieve recently uploaded a video titled ‘Fox eye lift. Winged Makeup Tutorial’. She emphasizes the importance of a lack of harsh lines on the rest of your makeup so that all the attention is focused on the eyes. Contour, bronzer and blush should all be soft and subtle. In another Youtube video titled, ‘How you can look like Bella Hadid without surgery’, YouTuber Snitchery also comments on how little base makeup she uses, completely skipping on foundation (!). This further centres the attention on the eyes and brows. Snitchery has shaved the ends of her brows off and reshapes them with powder adding a lot of height to the end of the brow and keeping them very straight. Also, any darkness from shadows or eyeliner should be solely focused on the outer edge of the eye to create that taut dimension.

The fox eye trend is inspired by celebrities such as Bella Hadid and Megan Fox, who have this very snatched and flawless look. Due to it creating a more youthful appearance through its focus on the eyes, which wrinkle and show age easily, some take to plastic surgery for the same results. It can also be aided with a tight hairstyle which will pull your skin taut, enhancing the look. A gelled back and tightly fastened ponytail or bun leaves the hair looking sleek and also pulls the skin around the eyes to enhance that fox eye sharpness.

Although this more editorial style may not be for everyone, its message is: try something new! It can be fun to experiment with makeup, and this doesn’t just mean using different products or colours, but also changing the shape of your face and having the power to transform your features with just a brush and some powder. The possibilities are endless, so next time you’re plucking your brows, think twice about the shape you want to leave them in…
