 Interestingly, the runway witnessed a lot of cat couture moments, with leopard patterns making a lasting impression. These pieces within the collection could potentially be an indicator of future trends in 2024. Maison Alaïa’s aesthetic was reflected in the balance of simple patterns and elegant leopard prints. Pierre Mueller’s objective for the entire collection was to capture a thread of feeling that was both fragile and strong. Each piece spoke to the complexity of human experience, mirroring the delicate balance between vulnerability and resilience. ‘Quiet Luxury’ Aesthetic

What truly defined the Pierre Mueller collection was the presentation of an expensive ‘quiet luxury’ aesthetic. The subtle whispers of luxury were woven into the fabric of each outfit, producing a sophisticated air that captivated the audience. A really interesting and beautiful piece was the one-piece bandeau dress presented in the third picture, a 3D-printed spiralling belt that clicks into place around the body to create a luxurious modern dress, the spiralling pattern providing a visually striking impression. 

The combination of technology and fashion was apparent in this futuristic piece, which showcased the exciting possibilities of 3D printing in the world of haute couture. Not only this, but the garment also showcased a forward-thinking approach to fashion design. The precision and delicacy of the 3D-printed belt gave the outfit a futuristic feel, transforming it into a wearable work of art. Beyond its visual appeal, the spiralling belt clicking into place provided a unique and secure technique to build the dress. This blend of form and function showcased the designer’s forward-thinking perspective, challenging traditional fashion norms. 

In essence, the Maison Alaïa’s SF24 runway show from Pierre Mueller’s collection highlighted textiles, texture, and craftsmanship. Each garment, precisely created from a single thread of merino wool, showcased the designer’s technical ability. The incorporation of cat couture moments and leopard patterns hinted about trends to come in 2024, while the overall idea of ‘silent luxury’ left an indelible impression on the audience. Pierre Mueller was successful in designing a collection that was more than just apparel, but also a full experience in the world of fashion.

Want drama? This one’s for you. Sita and Adwoa were bringing all the sass and drama with their make-up look this week that included bold winged eyeliner.  

Adwoa styled her eyeliner using products by Rimmel London to create this bold winged eyeliner look going along her upper lash line and her lower lash line, tying the entire eye together as one. She uses the Wonder Ink Eyeliner by Rimmel London to create this look and we think it is gorgeous! She keeps her base makeup light with a subtle blusher on her cheeks and natural lips with a hint of brown lip liner. We love that she has kept her freckles on show, showing off her natural beauty.  

Sita’s make-up has a lovely matte base with warm contouring and nude lips which allowed her bold striking eyeliner to do all the talking. This eyeliner looks almost like a dragon wing with small little wings coming off the main big one as well as a second under eyeliner that acts as a double eyeliner look. For this eyeliner look we think that liquid eyeliner would be best to make sure that you get that very high-pigmented eyeliner appearance. The Elf Cosmetics Expert Liquid Liner is a lovely liquid eyeliner that would be perfect for this look to add pigment. If you prefer an eyeliner pen instead of a brush, we recommend the Charlotte Tilbury Feline Flick Panther Eyeliner Pen. Using an eyeliner pen allows your hand more freedom when drawing on your eyeliner and can sometimes be less messy than using a liquid brush eyeliner. If you wanted to change this look slightly and make it more of a smokey grunge look, we recommend using eyeshadow on top of the liquid eyeliner to buff out the wings and make them appear smokey.

Sucker for a soft glam? So are we! Our next look by Sarah is the epitome of soft warm glam. Sarah has minimal makeup on her eyes, but we notice a warm bronze eyeshadow alongside rosy lips that have a brown and orange undertone. Her base makeup is light and dewy with subtle blemishes of blush on her cheeks. Her eyebrows are left natural which allows her luscious lips to be the showcase.  

This look is all about glossy lips, light dewy skin, and soft makeup on the eyes. The trick to these luscious lips is to have a darker shade of lip liner to your nude lipstick on top of super glossy lip gloss. Wearing a darker lip liner will allow your lips to appear bigger and more defined. We recommend using the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Foxy Brown as your lip liner, or the Wonder Gel Long-Wear Lip Liner in shade Foxy for this look. For the lip base, we think the Beauty Pie lipstick in Cowboy Nude would be a lovely lipstick to wear as a base for this look. Becky G and Dove Cameron both styled a lovely grunge makeup look that included dark eyes and nude lips.  

Becky G’s look is more precise and glammed as she wears liquid eyeliner alongside false lashes and creamy base make-up to create this glamorous look. She has used a lovely creamy brown lip liner that has a similar tone to her contour which helps tie the look together. We recommend using the Beauty Pie Wonder Gel Long Wear Lip Liner in Vanilla Nude to recreate this look. We think that the Hoola Bronzer is a similar shade to this lip liner and therefore would tie in the two pieces together nicely. 

Dove Cameron’s look is similar to Becky G’s in the sense that it is a powerful dark eye with a nude lip however, her eyes are smokey and grunge and her lips have a more ‘bitten’ aesthetic. She was very minimal base makeup however we have noticed a subtle highlighter on her upper cheekbones and on the tip of her nose. We think that a shimmery black eye shadow would be ideal for this look to create that smoky aesthetic so, therefore, the Dior Mono Couleur Couture eyeshadow would be perfect to use. For her nude lips, we think that the Lip Lustre in shade Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tilbury would be the perfect nude lip gloss to wear with this look.  

Both these girls are styling gorgeous looks that are similar but different in their own way. Therefore, whether you like a smokey rugged look or softer glam both looks can help give you some inspiration for your next dark eye and nude lip makeup combo.

Shenseea- ALPHA (Album)

March saw Shenseea release her debut album, ‘ALPHA’, a record bursting with vibrant elements of dancehall music. From features with Megan Thee Stallion, Tyga, 21 Savage and Sean Paul, this is a debut to remember. Our standout tracks on the album are; ‘Target’ (with Tyga), ‘Can’t Anymore’, ‘Lick’ (with Megan Thee Stallion) and ‘Lying If I Call It Love’ (feat Sean Paul).

Pip Millet – Ride With Me

Released on March 3rd, ‘Ride With Me’ is Pip’s first release of 2022, and it’s safe to say she is off to a strong start. The track is full of soulful, R&B richness, which we can’t help but love. A highlight of ‘Ride With Me’ is the luscious chorus, which is stacked with heavenly harmonies in contrast to the groovy bassline and R&B rhythm. Visually, ‘Ride With Me’ brought us a different angle of Pip, with a flying car and the London skyline taking centre stage. 

Beckah Amani – Lebeka Leka

Bringing us a delicate and sentimental sound this month was Beckah Amani with her single ‘Lebeka Leka’. The track is based around the notion of letting go, in which Beckah said; 

“My mum calls me Lebeka because that’s how you pronounce my given name Rebeca in my language Kirundi, she always says ‘lebeka leka’ which means ‘Rebeca, let go’. I was particularly thinking about fear, how we often get so caught up in it that it kind of distorts everything that we want.”   

Furthering the sentimental value of the track, Beckah filmed the music video on her rural family farm based in Mount Tamborine, QLD. 

Rachel Chinouri – All I Ever Asked

If there is any song to get us ready for summer, this is the one. Complete with infectious vocal phrases, harmonies and guitar motifs, we can already see this being blasted on a chilled out summer’s day. It seems it’s not just us loving Rachel’s sound, as over 70 thousand TikTok users have made a video with ‘All I Ever Asked’ in the past month. Rachel is an artist we look forward to listening to and watching grow in 2022!

Coi Leray, Nicki Minaj – Blick Blick

If you’re looking for something sassier to get you feeling yourself this spring, we’ve got you! Coming as the latest big collab amongst two incredible women in rap, ‘Blick Blick’ has got everything you could desire in a hype track; Clever lyricism, female empowerment, a bopping beat and a catchy hook.

Normani – Fair

This month, Normani let down her guard and showed us her vulnerable side with ‘Fair’. Lyrically, this track is slightly different to what we are used to from Normani, as she voices the hurt of watching an ex move on whilst she is still caught up in heartbreak. 

“You carry her and all I carry are burdens

Time for me ain’t working

I know heartbreak ain’t perfect, but

Is it fair that you moved on?”

Sonically, Normani is also pushing boundaries, using autotune voice effects and light instrumentation to let her vocals shine. With her album expected in the next few months, we are excited to see where Normani’s sound will next take us.

Charli XCX – Crash (album)

Exploding with nostalgic samples, retro instrumentation and catchy hooks, ‘Crash’ may be our go-to pop album for the foreseeable future. Aesthetically, this era has been one of Charli’s most endearing and cohesive, with exciting visual content to match the vibrant pop sound she’s releasing. Our favourite album tracks are; ‘Beg For You’ (feat. Rina Sawayama), ‘Used To Know Me’, ‘Good Ones’ and ‘Baby’. 

Mahalia – Whatever Simon Says

Tired of doing what people tell you? Mahalia has a song made for you! ‘Simon Says’ takes us on the raw journey of Mahalia putting herself first and doing exactly what she wants. 

“I’ve never been the kind of girl to welcome your interest

I heard that you like a little black dress so I wear red”

‘Simon Says’ is classic Mahalia; laid back, soulful R&B that speaks to your soul.

Megan Thee Stallion, Dua Lipa – Sweetest Pie

Coming as perhaps the most surprising collab of the month – ‘Sweetest Pie’ has had us dancing the past couple of weeks away. Merging Dua’s classic 80s pop rejuvenated sound with Meg’s sassy signature flow took us to pop heaven, and was matched with other-worldly visuals which we were obsessed with! 

Tiana Major9 – On God!

Featured as part of Tiana’s latest four-track EP ‘Fool Me Once’, ‘On God!’ is our standout song from the stellar lineup. With uplifting lyrics and glorious harmonies at the forefront of the track, we can’t help but feel an instant sense of relief when listening to Tiana’s beautiful composition.

Dave – Starlight

If you’re a Tiktok lover, chances are you’ll be familiar with ‘Starlight’ as the song has been used in over 150 thousand videos this month. Tiktok trends aside, this track once again proves that Dave is in his own lane. With a hauntingly stunning sample of ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ used throughout, Dave matches his flow to compliment the iconic melody, with inspirational lyrics that accentuate the sample’s original message.

Rosalia – MOTOMAMI (Album)

Before the release of ‘MOTOMAMI’, Rosalia has released hit after hit, with the likes of ‘SAOKO’, ‘LA FAMA’ (with The Weeknd) and ‘CHICKEN TERIYAKI’ scoring big numbers on streaming platforms. ‘MOTOMAMI’ is a multi-dimensional album that incorporates various soundscapes, making it an incredibly versatile and unique body of work to listen to. From high energy tracks that explore reggaeton beats and staccato vocal phrases, to delicate ballads that truly put Rosalia’s captivating voice and heritage in the driving seat.
