]]> While makeup is one of the most diverse fields in the world, with so many different people bringing their own influences to create something beautiful, there are a few makeup artists who completely changed the game. From Kevin Aucoin’s contouring technique to Linda Cantello’s iconic smokey eye, there has been a multitude of people who brought something fresh and new to the makeup scene. But Pat McGrath – who was named the most influential makeup artist in the world by Vogue – completely transformed the idea of beauty, promoting innovation and experimentation above all else. She never stuck to one style and we knew to always expect the unexpected when it came to her work. So, let’s take a look at some of her best work and explore how she became the icon she is today.

1. Christian Dior 2011 Fall Couture Show

At the Christian Dior 2011 Fall show, McGrath demonstrated her unique ability to create extravagant looks while stillmatching Dior’s overarching theme of celebrating ultra-femininity. The bedazzled look was sprawled all over Pinterest and other forms of social media.

2. Givenchy 2014 Spring Show

In McGrath’s work, we can how she utilises jewellery and accessories as makeup. We saw an incredible example of this during the Givenchy 2014 Spring show, where her models’ faces were completely covered in a dazzling bluemask with red lips. Their eyes were covered by mesh, making for a darker – almost haunting – look.

It seems McGrath works well with blue, as another one of her most influential makeup looks of all time featured this brilliant blue design running down one side of the model’s face. This abstract look accentuates all the higher pointson the model’s face using blue paint, resulting in a vibrant, lifted look.

3. Rihanna – W Magazine September 2016

McGrath also did Rihanna’s makeup for W Magazine’s September 2016 issue. The silver jewellery gave Rihanna’s skin a blueish tinge, while the exquisite gold ornament brightened her eye area, beautifully contrasting her brightred lip.

4. Versace Fall 2023

Versace’s 2023 show brought back ultra-bold eye makeup through thick black wings, topped with a blinding innercorner highlight. This striking look caught mass media attention and many influencers recreate this look in their own way. @jessiscg in TikTok went for a more subtle version of this look.

5. Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring Summer 2023

McGrath was also behind the iconic Doja Cat look at this January’s Schiaparelli show. The look took 5 hours to complete as McGrath’s team hand-applied 30,000 Swarovski crystals to the rapper’s face, arms and head.

This collection comes just in time for Valentine’s Day and Pat McGrath hasn’t held back with these products. The collection includes three six-pan MTHRSHP eye palettes, seven liquid eyeshadows, five cream and liquid lipsticks, two blushes and a blurring under-eye powder.

MTHRSHP Eyeshadow Palette  

Ready to fall head over heels for these palettes? We already have. The most exciting aspect of these new eye shadow palettes is that Pat McGrath has included a matte palette, something fans have wanted to see for a while.  

Velvet Liaison is the first all-matte palette and is a palette that is going to get a lot of fans very excited. This palette looks stunning as it includes a variety of neutral and rich velvet colours, that will be perfect for any Valentine’s Day look.  

Sublime Seduction is a lovely warm neutral palette and includes a combination of matte eyeshadows and shimmery shades. This palette looks super pigmented and is a gorgeous neutral palette that has a lovely warm undertone.  

Iconic Infatuation is the classic pinkie palette that is right on time for Valentine’s Day. Again, Pat includes a mix of matte and shimmer shades, so whatever it is you desire from an eyeshadow we’re sure your needs will be met with these palettes.  

All palettes have a creamy formula combined with a weightless texture which is buildable and blendable, so whatever makeup look you envision with these palettes anything is possible.  

Liquid Eyeshadow  

For our liquid eyeshadow fans out there, you are in for a treat with Pat’s new collection, as she has released an impressive 7 new long-wear liquid eyeshadows. 

The collection includes Divine Champagne which is a luminous gold champagne platinum pearl shade and Luna Rose which is a luminous rose gold shade with a sparkling platinum pearl undertone. Bronze Bijoux is a luminous warm bronze with sparkling gold pearl undertones, and Platinum Bronze is a platinum bronze with sparkling platinum pearl. Smouldering Seduction is a luminous sienna bronze with sparkling pink and gold pearls. Twilight platinum is luminous grey with sparkling platinum pearl and Cosmic Chartreuse is a luminous khaki green with sparkling gold pearl.  

These products are a new formal and a new product that Pat McGrath has released, and they are absolutely breathtaking. They are a liquid creamy shimmer eyeshadow that will stay on for 8 hours!

Satin Lipstick  

Pat McGrath has also included three satin lipstick shades in her collection, Nude Venus, In the Flesh and Crimson Ecstasy. Nude Venus is a natural bare nude lipstick, In the Flesh is a warm rosewood and Crimson Ecstasy is a bright scarlet red.  

They are all satin lipsticks with a lovely formula on the lips with a creamy texture.  

Blush 

The collection also includes two re-promotions of two blushes, Desert Orchid and Fleurtatious. Desert Orchid is a bronzed rose with a golden pearl undertone and Fleurtatious is a soft beige-pink demi-matte.

Lipstick 

For those of you who love a good lipstick, Pat has also included the re-promotion of her two legendary lipsticks, Nude Venus, and Nude Cabaret.

As a brand that can largely be held responsible for the fashion industry’s massification over the years, the effortless sense of innovation that Supreme repeatedly exhibits has never failed to take its fans by surprise.

Whilst collaborating with an array of the fashion world’s most desirable labels throughout the past decade, such as Louis Vuitton and Emilio Pucci, Supreme began dipping its toes in the world of beauty in 2020 – with none other than the iconic Pat McGrath Labs. Spearheaded by the world’s most influential makeup artist, if fashion is to collide with the world of beauty, it’s hard to find a duo as impressive as this one.

Whilst their initial collaboration began with the launch of a limited-edition lipstick in the shade of Supreme’s signature red, this time, the pair are making their mark elsewhere, through none other than nail varnish. It comes as a first for not only Supreme, but for Pat McGrath Labs too, producing a collection of three bold colours.

In a handful of videos uploaded to Instagram, designed by nail artist Jin Soon, Pat McGrath Labs revealed a striking red nail polish, accompanied by alternate shades of both black, and white. Whilst the price range is yet to be publicised, the launch will be sold exclusively by Supreme.

In true streetwear style, we’re sure that the products will sell out rapidly. But if you’re looking to get your hands on the hottest new beauty collaborations, this isn’t the first time that two cutting-edge brands have joined forces.

This week, Fenty Beauty announced their upcoming collection with one of fashion’s finest – MSCHF. In a post uploaded to Instagram, the pair appear to be releasing six products in the style of ketchup sachets, filled with either Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb in a new shade of cherry, or ketchup.

Whilst details are few and far between when it comes to social media, the collector’s item is available at both a hotdog stand pop-up in New York, and online at KetchupOrMakeup.com, retailing at $25.

Although MSCHF are known for their absurdity, proving hot off the press as the producers of the Eat the Rich ice cream truck and Nike’s Gobstomper sneakers, it can’t be denied that the collab will be fuelled by modernity – proving an exciting launch that beauty-lovers will be clawing at.

Six years since the launch of the eponymous Pat McGrath Labs, it’s only now that the legendary makeup artist is gracing us with a collection of blushers that range from ‘skin perfecting’ demi matt to a ‘luminous satin-pearlized finish.’ In typical McGrath fashion, the packaging is stunning – with each coming in black-lacquered compacts with raised floral patterns pressed into the powder.

Described by the brand as ‘other worldly’ the collection will run alongside new products for the lips, eyes, and face. This will include a limited-edition Venus in Fleurs Luxe Quad, a new shade of MatteTrance Lipstick, a Divine Glow Highlighter, and two limited-edition shades of Lip Fetish: Divinyl Lip Shine.

There is no set date for the launch, but it is expected in late May. If you can’t wait to get your hands on it, join the Divine Blush Waitlist to be notified when they become available.

The second prestigious drop we are eagerly awaiting comes from another top global makeup force, Lisa Eldridge. She will shortly be launching her Seamless Skin Collection, which will consist of an ‘Elevated Glow Highlighter’ and an ‘Enlivening Blush.’

Unlike McGrath’s powder blush range, Eldridge’s‘ Enlivening Blush’ will be of a serum-like consistency and comes in a range of six shades. Speaking to Grazia Magazine, she compellingly admitted that the formula contains ‘diamond powder’ and has light-reflecting properties – ‘I like to think of these blushes as a real-life Paris filter swipe for skin’ she muses.

The Elevated Glow Highlighter can be used under or over makeup (or both!) for maximum radiance. We are SO excited to use both to have the summertime-ready flawless finish.  

We absolutely can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will bring.

It’s hard to deny that this Natasha Denona palette can create the perfect Autumn look. With it’s combination of golds, nudes, and reds, it can create any look you want. From a high-impact smokey eye, to a subtle shimmer, it can do anything you need it to. The 15 shades are designed to compliment one another, while also being unique. At it’s core, it’s a study into copper- any way you could think to use copper can be done with this palette.

The pan is topped with a large mirror that takes up the surface of the lid. The exterior of it captures exactly what you’ll find inside; it’s a simple, reflective golden orange, with the brand name on the lid in slim, black writing. Like Tom Ford’s palette, the metallic shades are most vibrant when used with a wet brush, and more sheer with a dry brush, giving you complete control over the finishing look.

The Morphe Main Event palette is a collaboration between Morphe, Mmmmitchell (British make-up artist), and Daisy Maskell (KISS evening presentor). Since Mmmmitchell burst onto the make-up scene a few years ago, he has been the embodiment of talent and skill. His looks always burst with colour, so it’s no surprise that he’s put together one of the most colourful palettes of this season. Unlike the previous two, this palette contains all the colours you could possibly need, in one place.

Each of the 24 shades are completely unique from one another, and the resulting effect of each forluma also varies. The mattes are soft and blendable, the metallics blinding, and almost every matte has a corresponding shimmer-shade somewhere in the palette. While the nudes and browns can create a quick and easy look, the brighter colours are bold and impactful and can be used to make a statement. The shade-names reflect the Main Event theme that it carries- in a normal year, August would have been concluding festival season. And this shade is a great substitute for what could have been.

While this palette is exactly what you’d expect, it’s also as pigmented as you’d expect. Upholding the high quality Morphe name, the shades are creamy and soft, the shimmers adding that little bit of glam to every look.

From low-key nudes to a high-impact black, there isn’t much else you’d need when readying yourself for a night out. The pigmentation is high, and the mattes blend seemlessly into a proffessional-looking finish. The formula contains micro-pigments, giving you a look that lasts all night.

This stylishly simple, four-colour compact is the plum-dream that’s going to take your Autumn palette to the next level and is part of Clarins’ new Autumn collection for 2020. Each of these tones complement one another, working in tandem with each other to add an element of colour to the golden tones you’ll need this season. There are six variations of the gradient palettes, but this particular one- Rosewood Gradation– is the newest release in the collection. All four colours are shimmer shades, and the palette includes a blush pink, a light pink, a deep brown, and a striking mauve.

The shadows are enriched with bamboo powder and Vitamin E, which holds antioxidant and protective properties. The shades are designed to last on the eye for up to 12 hours. The packaging is also extremely simple- a round palette with a built-in mirror and companion brush. The outside is a rose-pink colour, and the palette arrives in a white square box that details what’s inside. This palette is most likely for those who want more basic looks- a single bold colour, or a coating of the blush pink for a lighter effect. That being said, the bottom row can certainly be used to create depth to any look.

Retail: £40 Another sturdy, travelsized compact to complete your travel necessities, this Charlotte Tillbury palette could be seen as similar to ones we’ve seen before, but has completely different capabilities. The square compact is topped with an elegent, chocolate brown shade. A gold slit runs down the centre, framing the Charlotte Tillbury logo. The shades were inspired by the hugely popular Walk Of No Shame Berry Matte Lipstick, and outcame three beautifully red and pink colours. A rose gold glitter, and three other shimmers complete the ensemble that sits neatly in the palette that almost reflects the colours of the shadows.

Both pigmented and buildable, you can create any look you want with this crimson quartet. A deep, red smokey eye, or a glowing lid- there are endless posibilities. Using a wet or dry brush can create different effects, and the three shimmer shades build from sheer to bold in seconds. With this palette, you can create an effortlessly vampy Autumn look to match your new wardrobe. As reds are in this season, you need those complementory tones at hand.

This 18-shade palette was inspired by the glow of golden hour- the orange tones that dominate the sky as the sun sets behind the horizon. And it is- in a nutshell- everything you need this Autumn season. Ranging from glitter-golds to infinitely blendable matte shades, this palette can create any look you could possibly want to make. The browns and darker pinks create the perfect transition shades to give you a flawless blend, and the yellows and reds can create the ultimately fiery look that everyone needs in Autumn.

The packaging- as always with Revolution- doesn’t disappoint. Once again, they have thought outside of the box and created a work of art with this design. The entire palette is a gentle gold colour that becomes more intense on the top half of the lid. The bottom half is black, with small golden flakes flittering inside of it. The whole design radiates a metallic feel to it, and that’s only confirmed when you open it and see the multitude of shimmery shades. The possibilities here are endless, as all 18 shades can contribute to any look you could want this season. Retailing at £10.50, it’s one of the more affordable palettes on this list. And the quality doesn’t suffer, either, as each shade is incredibly pigmented.

Retail: £50 This newly dropped Pat McGrath palette includes every sparkly shade you’re going to want this season. Based around pinks, the name Rose Decadence is truly appropriate for what’s inside and on the cover of this palette. From the intricate artwork on the packaging, it’s immediate to the buyer that they’re about to invest in something that is absolutely gorgeous. With pink roses decorating the baby-pink background and golden leaves exploding behind them, the packaging is genuinely so gorgeous that I just had to take a moment to sit back, and take it all in.

The palette has a built-in mirror and is fairly small, meaning it’s easy to travel with and use on the go. The champagne pinks and deep plumbs can take you from the desk to dinner in a matter of moments. Paired with another palette that has deeper colours, you could create some truly out of this world looks that stun everyone around you. The mattes are soft and creamy, the shimmers glistening, and the duo- chrome taking the combination of tones to the next level. Retailing at £50, it isn’t the most affordable of palettes, but the quality you get makes every penny worth it.

Colourpop’s Candy Castle eyeshadow palette puts a fun spin on the pastel-hangover you’ll be having at the start of this season. These 10 shades will carry you into Autumn, the icy purples and mint greens there for you in the Winter, too. The palette is as sweet as it looks- the mattes are intensely pigmented with huge colour payoff, and the shimmers blind you instantly. The nudes and brown mixed with the blush tones means this palette is going to give you a bold look this Autumn, one that’s maybe a little less conventional (if that’s the kind of person you are!).

This nostalgic collaboration between the childhood boardgame is named after one of the places you’d pass through in the game and these memories will come rushing back as you use these gorgeous shades. The imagery on the front of the palette is also from the game- graphics you would’ve seen on the board. As thanksgiving and Christmas make their way towards us, it’s not unlikely you’ll be wanting something a little nostalgic.

In its 26-year history of bringing us timeless streetwear drops and showering our town in its iconic red and white logo, Supreme New York, the hype fashion brand, has collaborated with the most sought-after luxury make-up artist, the visionary Pat McGrath.

Synonymous with Supreme’s history of turning everyday items into a limited-edition piece, the iconic duo are launching a red with a blue under-tone matte lipstick. Housed in Supremes iconic white-on-red colour palette and embossed with a pair of McGrath gold lips. The perfect emergence of both of the brand’s famous labels.

Named as an ‘iconic red’ by McGrath herself, the new shade will be released in McGrath’s signature MatteTrance formula in a singular shade, appropriately named “Supreme”. While featured in a Matte formula, we are not seeing any dry pouts here. Named as a ‘high-intensity hydrating pigment’ it will give concentrated colour on the lips that won’t be going anywhere. Better yet, it’s will be incorporated as part of the brand’s Fall/Winter2020 collaboration. So, expect to see a lot of red lips on the catwalk this season.

Unsurprisingly, the new drop has created a frenzy for the beauty community across social who are burning to get their hands on the latest drop. While @supremenewyork has kept quite across their Insta, @patmcgrathreal has broadcasted her feed with images and cultured teaser videos expressing the meaning behind the new bold lipstick.

Supreme is iconic for their hot- releases, never failing to sell out in a number of days, so we expect nothing less for this collab. This launch will go far beyond just another collector’s item. It will last in time as Supremes first-ever beauty collaboration.
