Debuted at Milan Fashion Week for SS25, The Attico teamed up with Nike to give a sporty edge to their collection. Focusing more on athleisure rather than sports gear, the looks encompassed a laid-back, effortless vibe to complement their show. The label’s SS25 runway was graced with a signature pop of Nike apparel and trainers, juxtaposing a sporty aesthetic with sexy-chic edge.

In perhaps the most on-the-nose collaboration, AVAVAV recruited Adidas to work alongside them in their recent Milan Fashion Week SS25 runway. Their catwalk, or should we say track lane, saw the seamless amalgamation of the practical and impractical to produce a complex collection of sportswear and athleisure that anyone can make their own.
Notable pieces included deconstructed tracksuits, figure-hugging slip dresses, and Adidas’ signature tri-stripe motif. According to AVAVAV designer, Karlsson, sportswear giant Adidas instructed “Do whatever you want, but don’t f*** with

the stripes.” And Karlsson certainly did not, letting the iconic tri-stripe design speak for itself in her pieces. Elsewhere, models were bundled in bloodstained bandages in a comment on the dark sides of both art forms: sport and fashion.

While AVAVAV and The Attico may not have set any PBs or won any medals at Milan Fashion Week, the brands have certainly made history in these ambitious collabs, balancing chic style and functional sportswear in a feat of fashion innovation.

You might not know her name yet, but you’ve seen her work. If the J Lo X Shakira Super Bowl halftime show doesn’t ring any bells, then maybe you remember the iconic ‘Yummy’ music video by Justin Bieber; or maybe it’s the Savage x Fenty shows that sound familiar to you. Watching them, you might’ve wondered who the person behind those daring dance moves was. The answer, Parris.

Some people are born with a purpose; after watching Missy Elliot and Madonna dancing on TV, 5-year-old Goebel discovered hers, dance. ‘I’ve always been pretty confident in my dreams and where I see my future heading, so it didn’t take me very long to identify what I wanted to be when I grew up.’ she said in a 2017 interview. The New Zealand native dropped out of high school at just 15 to pursue her calling, forming a dance crew, Royal Family, and uploading herself on Youtube.

Her small troupe went on to win the World Hip Hop Dance Championship an unprecedented three times in a row.

After having worked with KPOP star CL in 2016, she popped up on Jennifer Lopez’s radar, which led to Parris choreographing Lopez’s world tour at just 19 years old. Her signature sassy and aggressive dance style (‘polyswagg’) broke the rising star into the industry as celebrities followed J Lo’s cue. Now, the 28-year-old has Ariana Grande, SZA, BLACKPINK, Janet Jackson, Nicki Minaj, and Justin Bieber on her roster. Oh yeah, and Justin’s iconic ‘Sorry’ music video a.k.a. one of the most viewed videos on Youtube? She choreographed that too. As if that wasn’t enough, she was also behind Rihanna’s iconic Super Bowl half time show this year.

After spending so much of her career as the industry’s best-kept backstage secret, Parris is finally stepping into the spotlight. She signed with IMG Models in 2018 and has since worked with giants like Dior and Alexander McQueen. She ‘polyswagged’ her way through a New York Fashion Week 2022 and became the face of UGG’s Spring campaign that same year. The star also recently co-hosted the NIKE Goddess experience after becoming a brand ambassador two years ago. And fashion’s not the only place Goebler’s leaving her mark: she’s released one music album, two books, choreographed two dance cult movies ( StepUp: All In), and received the New Zealand Order of Merit, and an EMMY

But Parris didn’t start as an Emmy and MTV award-winning artist. She, like a lot of us, started with an impossible dream, wild determination, and unsupervised access to the Internet. In a recent Instagram post, Goebel’s wrote ‘As you climb the mountain of your dreams, you will be greatly challenged…but your passion, strength and LOVE for what you do will override anything standing in your way.’ And that she did. With a career like this, there’s no doubt she’s the newest MVP in the entertainment world (and all our FYPs). Wherever she goes next, one thing’s for certain: Parris is living up to her name.

The late Virgil Abloh’s Nike Air Force 1 collection for Louis Vuitton is slated to become this year’s most hyped fashion collaboration. In honor of its emblematic last designer, the fashion house partnered with sportswear giant Nike to launch a nine-piece limited edition sneaker collection.

The two brands geared up to release a new collection created by the late designer who was the design house’s men’s artistic director. Abloh died in November after a private two-year battle with cancer.

Designed by Virgil Abloh, the collection first debuted in June 2021 at Louis Vuitton’s men’s spring 2022 show. In February, 200 pairs were sold exclusively at Sotheby’s, which auctioned the sneakers to benefit Abloh’s “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund. The auction generated $25.3 million. Louis Vuitton and Nike also celebrated the collection in May with an exhibit in New York City.

Abloh was inspired by “Amen Break,” a drum break in the 1969 song by The Winstons, which is one of the most recognizable samples in hip-hop and jungle music. Abloh compared the drum break to the Air Force 1 sneaker, as the style was first introduced in 1982 and was a popular sneaker in New York’s hip-hop scene.

Coming from the streetwear community, the artistic director considered the Nike Air Force 1 as a cultural symbol in its own right. And today, the two fashion icons merged to create the most authentic high-end sneakers. The Air Force 1 is elevated to an art object by Virgil Abloh, who saw it as an emblem of this subculture.

The sneaker collection includes a variety of colors and design elements. The nine-piece assortment features all-white and all-black sneakers embossed with the Louis Vuitton logo, a white checkered version featuring graffiti-style art, a metallic gold style, and a multi-colored style featuring a silver chrome toe, among others.

Although the collection has already sold out on Louis Vuitton’s website, we can’t help but celebrate the streetwear and modern approach that Virgil Abloh brought to the long-established fashion house.

They carved a runway into the salt mountains of the Camargue region, winding down the hills. The show began with two models hugging and dancing, surrounded by white mineral mountains. Then, the models at the top of the white cliffs of salted started walking their way down, their tulle and linen flowing in the wind. The guests, including Victoria Beckham, Vincent Cassel, Amelia Gray and Donte Colley, were seated on long benches hammered out of salt.

“Le Papier” is the meaningful title of Jaquemus’ new collection, stating that “[Jacquemus] started working on the collection with the obsession to restart from nothing, like a white page.”. His inspirations were white paper, hence the collection’s name, and sculptor Alberto Giacometti.

The stunning and scenic catwalk showed 61 new looks of clothes and accessories for all genders, as well as pieces from his upcoming collaboration with Nike. Shearling coats and bags, cargo pants and mini tulle dresses come in monochrome tones and neutrals, the simple designs representing the brand’s next evolution.

The collection is available now online.

Coming in two colour combinations: black/green and white/red, the shoe was inspired by basketball, skateboarding and running sneakers and features an exposed foam tongue, vibrant laces fitted in a unique pattern and punched out holes, with both brand’s names and the name of the sneaker itself emblazoned on the side.

The sneaker is being released in accordance with Abloh’s wishes, with a Nike statement reading: “Prior to his passing, Abloh was characteristically prolific. In his planning with Nike, Abloh and his creative trust had developed fully realised product collaborations and uniquely Abloh marketing and storytelling vehicles for seasons to come.” Virgil’s wife Shannon Abloh has also been involved with the release of the collaboration.

The Nike x Off-White Low Blazer will be releasing on April 8 and will be available to buy at both Nike and Off-White stores.

In her ‘Behind the Design’ Nike interview she spoke of her love for Jordans; the Air Jordan 15 silhouette being her favourite model due to its shape and wearability. She loves the way they feel and the fact that they’re gender neutral: “You can be whoever and whatever you want with these…”.

The Air Jordan Ko comes in a light lime green while the Air Jordan 15 is the polar opposite – a neutral beige tone. This is not surprising as her style is anything but ordinary or foreseeable. Both sneakers are 100% vegan and over 20% recycled material. They will be available on Eilish’s official store on September 27 and on Nike SNKRS on September 30.

February got off to a flying start with Nike’s unveiling of their latest design; the Nike Go FlyEase. Just like the rest of the internet, we’re definitely excited about it. 

You might have seen the buzz about the new release on your socials already, which is no surprise considering that not only is the shoe aesthetically pleasing, but there’s also a great concept behind it. 

Nike first released their FlyEase range back in 2015 following a letter from Matthew Walzer, who has cerebral palsy. Matthew Walzer (@ matthewwalzer24), who was 16 at the time, contacted Nike about the need for an accessible shoe design that would be helpful to those who struggle with shoelaces. On February first, Nike introduced their first-ever hands-free trainer; the Nike Go FlyEase.

Taking to Twitter to express his feelings about the latest release, Matthew Walzer wrote about his love of seeing how far the FlyEase line had come since he first wrote his letter; 

‘#DisabledLivesMatter The Flyease is for people of all abilities. Remarkable that one letter almost nine years ago continues to bring about so much change.’

The Nike Go FlyEase is designed for adaptive athletes but is beneficial to anyone from all walks of life. From people who may struggle with the idea of getting ready for a run in the morning (we know the feeling) to frontline key workers who are in a rush to those with simply too much to carry who are in need of a more practical, sleeker design. Nike has always strived to create designs that are appealing and inspiring to all athletes (and as Nike pointed out – if you have a body, you arean athlete), and this may be their most inspirational design to date.

From the release video, we can see that the silhouette is set to be coming out in three different colourways; White, Celestine Blue, and Volt; Black, Turquoise, and Crimson; and finally, an all-black with a simple bright blue streak. 

Nike revealed that the shoe is made using ‘a patent-pending bi-stable hinge and midsole tensioner that allow for hands-free entry’. This design allows for the shoe to remain both securely open and closed when in or out of use. In a video that interviews the team responsible for the Nike Go FlyEase design, we can see some of the work and calculations that went into designing the shoe – and let’s just say it involved an awful lot of maths. 

This latest release from Nike is doing everything right. The design is sleek, smart, attractive, and most importantly, made with every customer in mind. 

If like us, you’re already getting your calendar ready to mark in the release date, then don’t worry – the Nike Go FlyEase is said to be widely available later this year! We can certainly add this to the list of good things that 2021 has brought us, with a big thank you to Nike and to Matthew Walzer for their letter back in 2015. Designed to honour the release of the 25th instalment of the legendary fictional spy agent, James Bond; No Time to Die sparks the newest concept of the Adidas ultraBOOST. While both products are due for an early April release, to celebrate the new upcoming collections; We have compiled the ultimate list of the previous best celebrity sneaker collabs, the top 10 to be exact.

10). Donald Glover x Adidas

At number ten we have Donald Glover’s collab with Adidas in April 2019. The company came together with director and musician on remastered designs of the Continental 80, the Nizza and the Lacombe. Not the most outlandish design within the top ten, but makes the list based on adaptability and minimalistic nature.

9). Cardi B x Reebok

In early 2019, new rap princess Cardi B coupled up Aztrek sneakers to endorse their new retro-influenced shoes. With Cardi’s music at the time being motivated by the old school style, this collab was perfect; from the vintage blocky design to the dynamic colourway.

8). G Dragon x Airforce 1

Number eight features K-pop idol G-Dragon’s endeavour with a remake of Nike’s classic Air Force 1. Cleverly tagged with his clothing line’s flower emblem, the “Para-noise” shoes represent a collaboration in its truest sense, making this meshing of formulas one of the decade’s most memorable.

7). Alexander Wang x Adidas

The last of three collections between Adidas Originals and designer Alexander Wang during 2017. While another fashion brand succumbs to the gentrification of skate style isn’t the most innovative; but with inspired colourways like woodsy brown, it was the forest meets the concrete jungle.

6). Vivienne Westwood x Asics

The creative combination of designer Vivienne Westwood and sports corporation Asics hooked up to create an exclusive selection of a dozen shoe designs that dropped in the space of a couple of months. The 2019 releases aimed at legacy tennis shoes,

reinforced by dynamic artwork and faint features. While all hit retailers worldwide, you’d be lucky to find a pair of these in your local shops.

5). Serena Williams x Nike

Queen of sport, Serena Williams completed her comeback for Wimbledon in style with the release of her new Off-White Nike trainers back in mid-2018. The NIKEiD style inspired cleats were painted with pink from top to bottom, straightforward, sleek yet inspirational.

4). Anna Wintour x Nike

The iconic Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour came together with her current brand to remaster the classic Air Jordan 1s. The pair was not only the first AJ1 design to include a female adaptation, but also with Wintour’s backing, the shoe displayed its own emblem of “Edited by Vogue” to represent Wintour the right way.

3). Kendrick Lamar x Reebok

The hookup between Hip-Hop superstar Kendrick Lamar and Reebok started in early 2015. Of course, each drop is interlaced with a strong meaning, much like his music, with colourways normally matching themes against gang violence; each trainer implements conflicting blue and red marks. Even though the shoe is clean, the message of the sneakers bumps it up to third on the list.

2). Pharrell x Puma

Back in 2016, NMDs was one of the most fashionable sneakers around, so it was no surprise that when the word was out that a team-up with Pharrell could be in the works, the anticipation around the drop was immense. With a particular, thick lacing structure within the middle, not to mention the jazzy irregular pattern design of the words “species” and “being”. Much like Lamar’s shoes previously, the aim of this release was not just to design a dapper sneaker, but to promote a far-reaching message.

1). Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1

Just off of this Collab alone, Travis Scott is already one of the biggest celebrity’s in fashion as of today. While he has a tough battle on his hands to beat Virgil and Kanye to the number one spot, but much like Abloh and Yeezy, he has the Midas touch right now, whether it’s in music or fashion, which creates even more assurance to his validity within the creative field as a partner in business. Scott and the Jordan brand are a perfect mesh, we would expect more great things to come from these two as a collective as the year progresses.
