Although not on the official calendar, Marc Jacobs kicked off New York Fashion Week three days early with a whimsical six-minute presentation at the New York Public Library. Titled Courage, the show celebrated bold self-expression and resilience in the face of uncertainty.

Jacobs showcased exaggerated silhouettes that blurred the lines between fantasy and fashion. Bubble skirts, puffy shoulders, oversized bows, and circus-worthy XXL toe pumps dominated the runway, evoking a doll-like aesthetic. Models moved with a childlike playfulness, accentuated by Pat McGrath’s ingenious beauty details, stick-on glittery beauty spots, red velvet circles, and sparkling lip embellishments. These touches referenced traditional notions of beauty while adding a playful abstraction.

The designer used the show to reflect on themes of creativity and vulnerability. “Fear is not my enemy, it is a necessary companion to creativity,” Jacobs noted in his show’s programme. This sentiment translated into the collection’s theatrical proportions and daring designs.

Among the audience were notable figures, including Sofia Coppola, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Jenna Lyons, seated in a single row that heightened the intimacy of the event. The finale saw Alex Consani strutting in a dramatic red gown and black XXL pumps, closing the show with a confident flourish. Once again, Jacobs proved that courage fuels imagination and pushes boundaries in fashion.

Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano’s collection was a high-octane fusion of futurism, technology, and Hollywood glamour, hosted in Chelsea, New York, on the 6^thof February, the official first day of New York Fashion Week. The runway, featuring a red and black Toyota as a centrepiece, was transformed into a theatre of innovation. Siriano drew inspiration from the curves and lines of automobiles, translating them into striking silhouettes that redefined red carpet style. “The lines of a car to me look like the lines of a corset,” Siriano explained, encapsulating the harmony between structure and elegance in his designs.

Models strutted past rose beds in structured gowns and tailored suits, with red hues dominating the collection to symbolise power, love, and anger. “I was thinking of that iconic red car that you grew up loving,” Siriano shared, alluding to the emotional impact of the colour red. For Siriano, red is more than just a bold aesthetic choice; it’s a symbol of passion and intensity, perfectly mirroring the dynamic tension of the automotive world. The designs showcased creative references to automotive aesthetics, including latex-like fabrics resembling oil slicks, tyre track embroidery, and jersey dresses nodding to car interiors. Standout looks included a one-shouldered red tulle gown worn by Winnie Harlow and a blue cocooned mini dress that exuded modern edge.

The star-studded front row featured Katie Holmes, Whoopi Goldberg, Laverne Cox, Tiffany Haddish, and Bronwyn Newport who applauded Siriano’s bold approach to gender fluidity. Male models took to the runway in cropped jackets and wide-leg trousers, highlighting Siriano’s ongoing dedication to inclusivity. As Siriano put it, “Fashion is for everyone, no matter your shape, size, or gender.”

Closing with ethereal violin melodies, models posed in corseted eveningwear by the Toyota, delivering a dramatic crescendo to the event. Siriano’s innovative designs proved that the future of fashion is fearless, glamorous, and inclusive.

Calvin Klein Collection 

Veronica Leoni’s debut for Calvin Klein at New York Fashion Week on February 7th was one of the most anticipated moments of the season, marking the brand’s return to the runway after six years. The first female creative director at Calvin Klein, Leoni brought a fresh approach to the brand’s minimalist legacy, creating a “24/7 wardrobe” that blended modern tailoring with sensuality. The collection featured sleek silhouettes, sharp tailoring, and luxurious fabrics inspired by the Calvin Klein archive. “I really tried to connect with his original energy, and we really tried to explore a 24/7 wardrobe, to give it a cinematic and a real reality” stated Leoni. Key pieces included dramatic wool coats, organza fur outerwear, and tactile textiles that added depth to the minimalist palette of blacks, greys, and off-whites.

Leoni’s designs, while modern and chic, also drew on her experiences at brands like Jil Sander and Céline, offering everyday essentials with a twist. The collection featured essentials like tailored suits, trench coats, and soft, draped jersey dresses, while retaining an air of subversive sensuality. Celebrities such as Kate Moss and Christy Turlington, Cooper Koch, as well as Calvin Klein himself, attended the intimate show. Leoni described her collection as an exploration of confidence rather than overt sex appeal, emphasising the power of simplicity and modern elegance. The show marked a bold new chapter for Calvin Klein, combining heritage with a distinctly contemporary edge. 

Campillo 

Patricio Campillo’s collection made a bold statement, drawing from his rich Mexican heritage and a personal exploration of gender fluidity and magical realism. Inspired by surrealist painter Remedios Varo, the collection blended charro tailoring with subverted gender norms, resulting in a striking mix of masculinity and femininity. 

Campillo, a self-taught designer, focused on handcrafted textile manipulation, creating unique silhouettes that ranged from sensual and sharp to romantic and ethereal. He experimented with traditional menswear forms, such as cummerbunds transformed into corsets and trousers reimagined as skirts, showcasing his ability to challenge and redefine conventions. As Campillo himself put it, “I see this collection as an exploration of my reality as a queer Mexican designer,” which speaks to his deeply personal approach to challenging and redefining traditional menswear.

The collection’s most dramatic final piece, a jacket adorned with over 2,500 rooster feathers, was a nod to the designer’s love for fantastical elements. Campillo’s craftsmanship was evident in every detail, from the hand-stitched creases in his suits to the innovative draping techniques. His approach to design was undeniably influenced by his queer Mexican identity, as well as his desire to challenge stereotypes of Mexican culture. The presence of Bad Bunny, a key cultural icon, in the front row further amplified the collection’s relevance, while Bernie Martinez Ocasio, Bad Bunny’s brother, made a powerful statement as one of the models, adding familial depth to the show’s impact. Campillo’s collection successfully merged artistic ambition with technical skill, establishing him as a visionary in redefining contemporary menswear.

 Kim Shui 

Kim Shui’s runway show, held in the Upper East Side, redefined sensuality and restraint with a collection that merged bold textures, cultural symbols, and a gender-fluid approach to fashion. Drawing inspiration from Italian artist Monica Bonvicini’s leather belt artwork, Shui reimagined the material in new forms, deconstructing pleather into fringes, laser-cut details, and shredded textures. This transformation aimed to challenge pleather’s traditional associations with dominance and toughness, creating a striking contrast with its tactile, sensual appeal.

Shui’s design narrative explored themes of power, autonomy, and agency, highlighting the fluidity between masculinity and femininity. Cultural contrasts were central, with the fusion of Western influences such as cowboy hats and bolo ties alongside traditional Chinese motifs, including Qipao collars and frog closures. These details symbolised Shui’s ability to merge her Chinese heritage with Western sensibilities, creating a distinct, boundary-pushing aesthetic.

Among the guests were rapper Joey Bada$$ and his girlfriend, actress Serayah, who graced the chic front row. Orange Is the New Black star Dascha Polanco and Love Island alum Leah being also in attendance, further elevating the star-studded atmosphere. Artist and musician SAINt JHN was seen soaking in the show, underscoring the intersection of music and fashion at this high-profile event.

Throughout the 43-look collection, Shui’s exploration of the snake symbol, a representation of renewal and rebirth, was evident, with snakeskin prints and serpentine motifs woven into structured gowns and tailored trousers. The inclusion of provocative accessories, like the butt-shaped pleather bags, further reinforced Shui’s desire to challenge societal norms and perceptions of gender, identity, and power in fashion.  “It’s less about following boundaries and more about removing them” stated Shui. This collection marks a significant evolution in Shui’s career, where sensuality, control, and cultural juxtaposition seamlessly converged.

 Anna Sui 

Anna Sui transported New York Fashion Week audiences into a world of eccentric glamour with her Fall/Winter 2025 collection, drawing inspiration from 1930s screwball comedies and the lavish lifestyles of American heiresses. With muses like Barbara Hutton, Doris Duke, and Peggy Guggenheim, the collection reimagined their opulent, uninhibited wardrobes for the modern era.

Set in the elegant National Arts Club, the show opened with Rita Hayworth’s “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered,” perfectly setting the tone for a lineup rich in vintage charm and playful decadence. Models strutted down the runway draped in faux-mink coats, pleated lamé dresses, and leopard-print shoes, a direct nod to Bringing Up Baby’s iconic pet leopard. Layering played a crucial role in Sui’s signature styling, as tweeds, lace, brocade, and Fair Isle knits clashed harmoniously, accessorised with estate-style jewellery and Peggy Guggenheim inspired sunglasses.

“I styled these looks much the way I see young people incorporating vintage finds into their personal wardrobes,” Sui explained. “Nothing head-to-toe, just a mix of trophy pieces.”

The collection felt like a love letter to fashion’s past, infused with a sense of escapism that resonated deeply with today’s desire for individuality and self-expression.

LaPointe 

On Super Bowl Sunday, Sally LaPointe’s collection was a testament to endurance, both in theme and execution. Marking 15 years in the industry, the designer leaned into her signature aesthetic bold, vibrant, and unapologetically glamorous, while weaving in a sports-inspired narrative. The runway, set against the unexpected backdrop of the National Basketball Players Association, was charged with energy, kicked off by a dynamic performance from Supa Girlz. This choice of venue and entertainment reinforced LaPointe’s emphasis on agility and perseverance, concepts mirrored in the structure and movement of her designs.

The collection showcased LaPointe’s signature monochromatic styling, with an electrifying palette that included acidy green, hot pink, and deep cognac red. Statement outerwear dominated the runway, featuring plush fur, leopard calf, vinyl, and organza. Feathers, sequins, and crystal embellishments added drama, ensuring each look was ready for the spotlight. Standout pieces included feather-adorned chaps, stretch sequin bodysuits, and georgette caped jackets. Accessories, such as crystallised basketball handbags, tied the collection seamlessly to its theme. “I got to have fun with this collection,” LaPointe said, and that playful energy was perfectly reflected in her show. 

With a star-studded front row, including Law Roach, Kris Jenner, Jordyn Woods, and singer Monica, the show reaffirmed LaPointe’s ability to blend high fashion with high-energy spectacle. More than a collection, it was a celebration of resilience, creativity, and the designer’s unwavering vision. 

Elena Velez 

Elena Velez transported her audience into a dark, immersive maritime world with her New York Fashion Week collection, Leech. Hosted at Artechouse, the presentation blurred the lines between fashion and digital art, as guests descended into a former boiler room transformed into a deep-sea dreamscape. Silhouettes of lighthouses and ghostly ships loomed on the walls, while ocean waves lapped against the soundscape. This wasn’t merely a runway show, it was a theatrical descent into the mythology of womanhood, shaped by Velez’s fascination with contentious female archetypes.

Velez’s designs embodied the essence of the siren, the sailor, and the seductress. Netting, leather, and latex-dipped fabrics mimicked the look of garments drenched at sea, while ropes and metal hardware reinforced the maritime theme. Standout pieces included a black strapless mini dress with white ruffle detailing that evoked seafoam, and pirate-style paper-bag trousers that hinted at a rebellious spirit. The show also reflected Velez’s own narrative her mother, a ship captain, has long influenced her work.

“No plan B I’ll sink with my ship,” Velez declared, reinforcing her uncompromising vision. With Leech, she embraced the antihero, crafting a collection that challenged stereotypes and cemented her place as fashion’s renegade.

New York Fashion Week 2025 proved once again that the city remains a powerhouse of creativity, reinvention, and boundary-pushing artistry. From Marc Jacobs’ whimsical theatricality to Christian Siriano’s futuristic glamour and Veronica Leoni’s refined minimalism at Calvin Klein, each designer brought a unique perspective to the runway. Patricio Campillo and Kim Shui challenged conventions through cultural and gender-fluid storytelling, while Anna Sui’s nostalgic glamour and Elena Velez’s dark maritime fantasy showcased the transformative power of fashion. This look also featured in black, showcasing a contrasting design between masculinity and femininity. A leather trench coat worn over a midi dress, with a pop of bright fuchsia feathers blended softness with structure.

They show how real people are taking the inspiration they are seeing at shows and putting their own spin on it. Pops Of Red

One trend we’ve been seeing everywhere for the last few months is the pops of red, or full monochromatic red looks. We’ve loved seeing this on runway but seeing it from a street style point of view is even more special. Seeing how people fit it into their own personal style and make it work in a non-commercial way is so much more genuine.

Bonnets and Balaclavas have been in the fashion world for a while now, and while the rise of the trend was totally unpredictable, the origin could be traced back to Dior’s cruise collection in 2022 in which several of the looks came with matching bonnets. They are a bit of a marmite of the fashion world, as you either love them or hate them. Altuzarra Ready To Wear FW Collection – Mix And Match Prints

Altuzarra’s Ready-to-Wear FW Collection made a bold statement on the runway with its masterful mix-and-match print moments, embracing a vibrant narrative of patterns. The juxtaposition of fiery reds and yellows with more subdued earthy tones creates visual tension, showcasing Altuzarra’s print mixing ability.

Although Altuzarra’s collection was generally more casual ready to wear looks, these garments were the highlight of the show. the vibrant exploration of print on print demonstrates the combination of unexpected patterns to create outfits that are both unique and unforgettable.

The newest PUMA AW24 collection revolved around the resurrected iconic Mostro – the refashioned 1999 sneaker acting as an inspiration for the whole set of outfits. Mostro found itself recreated in multiple forms, from more traditional, white-yellow-blue ones, with strap closures, to the more avant-garde – spiky, metallic, made of purple mesh, or ankle-length and khaki-coloured to match a military outfit. Regardless of whether we’re talking of the neon-yellow-spiked sneakers or the silver nylon Mostro boots, the shoes were by no means a mere accessory. They were the axis around which the show revolved.

Inspired by the futuristic, alien-like form of the spiky sneakers, Desens and McKimm’s collection was based on mostly metallic colours, nylon, vegan leather, and all fabrics shiny. What dominated was the varied, oversized tracksuit sets – some glittering with diamonds, some spaceship-like-silver and metallic, some made of vegan leather, and some sewn out of irresistibly soft, black velvet.

We also marvelled at leather and red velvet bodysuits, balaclavas, cargo trousers, and windbreaker-inspired, full-length dresses. The wow effect soared thanks to the accessories, including unconventionally shaped, futuristic sunglasses, matching gloves, and cosmic sports bags. The last outfit was the cherry on the Mostro delicious cake, with its white nylon catsuit and diamond-encrusted motorbike helmet.

It wasn’t just the magic outfits that created the mysterious, other-worldly atmosphere – just look at the stunning makeup done by Isamaya Ffrench! Though basic at first glance, at a closer look you spot the elf-like, pointed fake ears and the glistering black horns attached to models’ foreheads. Could we be more obsessed with those looks?

The show space added to the dynamic, hypnotising aura, and you just couldn’t help immersing yourself in it right after crossing the entrance, with “Welcome To The Amazing Mostro Show” reading above it. The space, reverberating with Eartheater’s electrifying music, was filled with life-size amusement park props – roller coaster, Ferris wheel, and flying swings (with flying Mostro-wearing fake legs!). The spacious interior and high ceilings of Park Avenue Armory, with metal constructions and props in half-light, created a unique atmosphere for an equally mesmerising and innovative collection.

The celebs who visited the show seemed to be as impressed by the show as we were, taking countless selfies with the enormous, lighted flying swings in the background. Among notable guests were Emily Ratajkowski, Ashley Graham, Davido, Kyle Kuzma, Becky G, and Hari Nef.

However, the key celebrity in PUMA’s Mostro collection is, no doubt, ASAP Rocky, who starred in the uncanny, Alien-like advertising short film, published a few days before the show. With its Ridley Scott inspirations, it already set the cosmic tone for the whole event and whetted our appetites. But we probably hadn’t imagined in our wildest dreams what a breathtaking show PUMA was to offer us.

The theme for 2017 was devoted to the Japanese label Comme des Garçons and its founder, designer Rei Kawakubo— in short: avant-garde. We love the gold detailing on the dramatic train and that she kept her hair and makeup simple to show off the outfit.

The theme was undoubtedly ‘camp’, and when asked by Variety to describe his look in 3 words, he said “Diana Ross, ‘Mahogany’”.

Rihanna broke the internet with this iconic bishop’s hat for the heavenly bodies theme, with many dubbing her the new pope. Her look, designed by Margiela, consisted of a long jewel-encrusted robe over a minidress, Cartier jewellery, and glitzy Louboutins.

In support of Elizabeth Hilfiger’s growing fashion line, Foo and Foo, Bella wore another unlikely combination. A reigning style icon, the 25-year-old rocks avant-garde outfits and unusual Y2K-inspired accessories combinations thanks to her unpredictable style sense. The model paired a Foo and Foo graphic T-shirt under a light weight oversized striped shirt. It is a look that was given Bella’s distinctly 2000s nostalgia aesthetic thanks to studded baggy jeans with a low-slung waist, worn with a vivid pair of electric blue trainers. Adding to the style was a black leather belt with silver rivets and a long braid, which has become Bella’s signature hairstyle.

The tie-dye trend is officially back and better than ever. 

Despite walking the runways for Fendi and Proenza Schouler during New York Fashion Week, Bella still managed to showcase her impressive styling skills with a print-mixing look off-duty. 

The pastel hues of Bella’s outfit seamlessly transitioned from summer to fall as she stepped out on the streets of NYC in a chic look. In this ensemble, she pairs a tie-dye Gate Print Tank Top from Paloma Wool with pale checked trousers giving an early 70s vibe. Both the model’s trousers and top share similar yellow hues that make them work together so well. Keeping it casual, Bella opted for a sheeny pale gold leather jacket with flared cuffs to complement the print mixing ensemble. The outfit was completed with plenty of accessories. Bella combined metals with a number of chunky gold and silver rings and bold Chanel earrings, but her necklace was certainly making a statement- a white pearl choker completed with a large, swirled heart pendant and teardrop-shaped pearl hanging from the bottom point. The model added a vintage Dior Saddle Bowler Bag and finished the look with rectangle sunglasses. 

There is plenty of newness in the world of denim, from relaxed and baggy fits to darker washes and tailored styles.

Looking stylish as always, Rihanna headed to the Bowery Hotel to meet friends wearing an oversized denim ensemble from Balenciaga. The star sported a loose-fit denim anorak over relaxed washed-out jeans. The colours of this outfit certainly make accessories pop out as she donned the denim duo alongside bright lime-coloured sunglasses, matching heels, and sparkling diamonds. 

If we’ve learned anything from the fashion world this year, it’s that pink is still the new pink. Refusing to budge as the summer’s statement colour, from catwalk to streetwear, looks at New York Fashion Week this month were still dominated by pink. 

Leonie Hanne poses wearing a large structured blazer with a cut out back from Mugler and pairs it with a hot pink mini skirt. Just as the caption says her fit is definitely serving pink panther. Accessorizing with a mini hot pink Balenciaga bag and cat-eye sunglasses, the influencer finishes her outfit with The Attico Devon sequined leather mules. Just as designer duo behind the Attico say the shoes really do “make every entrance feel like the entrance”.

Kate Bartlett looks elegant and sophisticated in a pair of black wide fit trousers and a black crop top- the look is evoking business chic as she finishes the outfit with a black blazer. An all-black is always a mood and the blazer trend is all the rage this year, in case you haven’t noticed. Even the simplest of outfits can be elevated and polished with a touch of preppy elegance from a blazer. As a spring jacket or as an essential layering piece in winter, this versatile wardrobe staple can be worn year-round.

Quiet but Powerful: Elsa Hosk shows us that sometimes it really is the simplest of outfits that can make the most impact. 

While fashion trends come and go minimalism always seems to stick around. The essence of minimalism is to get rid of clutter and flash. Its hallmarks are simplicity and elegance, as well as neutral colour schemes. Elsa stuns as she donned the blue ‘Chino Pleated Mini Skort’ with the white ‘Cotton Poplin Oversized’ shirt – both from the Helsa collection, a new line inspired by the Swedish model’s heritage, featuring wardrobe staples and timeless pieces. 

Model Ella Snyder wears a lime loose-fit baby doll dress under a sleeveless woollen jumper by 3.1 Phillip Lim. From the 90’s and now making it way to street style, the 2022 version of the babydoll dress is checking a lot of this year’s trends with cuffed sleeves, bold colours and voluminous skirts. Ella compliments the outfit by matching her accessories with the silver embellishments on her jumper, the silver shoes over black socks fit the outfit perfectly.

New York Fashion Week started in full swing on Friday 9th September kicking off with designers
Proenza Schouler, No Sesso, Collina Strada, Fendi and Tia Adeola showcasing their
Spring/Summer 2023 ready-to-wear collections.

Got ultimate FOMO? Don’t worry we’ve got you, we’ll be covering everything from each day of
the must-see fashion event from across the globe so you don’t miss a thing. Here’s everything
you might have missed on day one from the city that never sleeps.

Proenza Schouler

Kicking off NYFW were Proenza Schouler designers, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez,
aka NYC’s fashion ‘It’ boys. The pair explored Latin flourishes – inspired by Hernandez’s roots,
fringing, crochet, sheer lace, bell bottoms and polka dots in a display of neutral tones.
Arca, a transgender musician from Venezuela, opened the show in a monochrome look
featuring a loose black tank, a white silk fringe and a bubble skirt.

No Sesso

Second on the schedule was No Sesso. Designers Pia Davis and Autumn Randolph created a
dark, utilitarian and provocative mood for spring, emphasising baring skin – opening the show
with a sheer black asymmetric dress, as well as cutout cycling shorts, G-string lines and tiny
bralettes from the collection that left little to the imagination.

Collina Strada

Collina Strada’s collection displayed designer Hillary Taymour’s signature playfulness and Y2K
influence alongside a strong theme of romanticism and nature. Florals, crochet, organza and
lace fabrics created dreamy gowns, wide-leg trousers and elegant eveningwear in bright hues.
In an ode to nature, the show fittingly took place at the Naval Cemetery Landscape, which
houses a monarch butterfly preserve.

Fendi

Designed by Marc Jacobs, Fendi’s Resort 2023 show was a fashion production like no other.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Italian label’s Baguette bag, the Hammerstein Ballroom
was transformed into a party with A-list guests adorned in Fendi on the front row including Kim
Kardashian, Sarah Jessica Parker, Naomi Watts and Kate Moss – whose daughter Lila Moss
opened the show.

The collection featured sharp tailoring, oversized fits, long lengths and a bright palette in an
explosion of fashion and colour.

Model icon and face of Fendi, Linda Evangelista, ended the show in a Tiffany blue opera cape
with a silver Baguette bag.

Tia Adeola

The final show of the day was Tia Adeola which was dedicated to the legacy of one of her
long-lasting inspirations, Manfred Thierry Mugler. In a fresh and neutral colour palette, the
collection was romantic, feminine yet daring with embellishments, curve-hugging bodycons,
distressing and cutouts.

The NYFW Diaries: Day Two

Day two of New York Fashion Week (Saturday 10th September) saw a jam-packed schedule of
designers’ Spring 2023 ready-to-wear collections including Dion Lee, Tibi, Private Policy and
Marni. We’ve got the ultimate rundown of the runways from day two in the big apple to keep you
in the style know-how.

Altuzarra

Starting off the day, Josephs Altuzarra’s collection was inspired by psychedelic experiences
through trips into nature. The show started with preppy classics including striped shirts, cable
knit sweaters, boxy blazers and mini skirts. It then progressed to more relaxed bohemian style
dresses with prints and tie-dye inspired by the 60s.

Elena Velez

Dark, provocative and mysterious was the mood of Elena Velez’s show. With references to
BDSM, bondage and sexuality, the neutral cool-toned collection featured latex, strapping,
corsetry and metal structures in the 30 focused looks.

Eckhaus Latta

Taking place in a scenic garden, Eckhaus Latta’s show evoked joy and peace following the
turmoil of the past few years. The collection featured a celebration of textures as well as

Jason Wu

Soft, subtle and elegant Jason Wu’s neutral collection was delicate with lingerie details, long

Victor Glemaud

Taking place in Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace, Victor Glemaud’s show was a spectacle with a
troop of skaters opening the show dressed in knitted shorts, joggers and ruffle-trimmed onesies.
The collection was inspired by American sportswear, featuring minimalist lines, sheer silk,
crochet, swimwear and monochrome looks in varying lengths.

Dion Lee

Taking place on an empty floor in a Hudson Yards building with a breathtaking view of the city’s
skyline, Dion Lee’s collection fused the perfect wardrobe for a day-to-night-to-day lifestyle with
cargos, knits and denim contrasting to the rave influences, mini skirts, leather separates and
slinky floor-length dresses. It was chic, sexy and inviting – just like New York.

Tibi

Celebrating designer Amy Smilovic’s 25th anniversary, Tibi’s collection reflected Smilovic’s
sophisticated and clean personal style resembling 90s minimalism. Oversized tailored suits,
sheer fabrics and low waistlines headed the sensible collection perfect for office wear.

Prabal Gurung

Prabal Gurung’s show was a bold celebration of individuality, sexuality and a sense of
undoneness. The collection featured bright shades, sheer blouses, low waistlines and peeking
lingerie.

Sergio Hudson

Inspired by the funk, spirit and glamour of music icon Prince, Sergio Hudson’s seasonless
Collection 10 embraced bold colour blocking, loud leopard print, satin slip dresses, power suits

Private Policy

Private Policy’s designer duo Siying Qu and Haoran Li were inspired by the modern-day
equivalents of the story of Noah’s Ark for their latest show. The collection reflected the pair’s
keen eye for clubwear with cutout tops, mini dresses, netting, bikinis as well as contrasting
utilitarian-style baggy denim and cargo pants embodying the ultimate Y2K aesthetic.

Marni

Marni’s much-awaited NYC debut was made by designer Francesco Risso. With a warm colour
palette inspired by the changing light throughout the day in the Italian countryside, the
minimalistic collection featured an abundance of textures, classically tailored jackets, flared
velvet jeans, knitwear, mini dresses, satin and leather gowns – a wardrobe fit for any occasion.

The NYFW Diaries: Day Three

The third day of New York Fashion Week (Sunday 11th September) saw a host of must-see
Spring 2023 ready-to-wear shows from designers including Studio 189, Who Decides War, and
Tommy Hilfiger to name a few. Missed it? Don’t worry we’ve all the news from the runway right

Ulla Johnson

Kicking off the day was Ulla Johnson’s show, taking place at the Brooklyn Museum’s Beaux-Arts
Court. The colourful collection focused on occasionwear with relaxed feminine silhouettes and
handicrafts such as crochet, embroidery and looming.

Studio 189

After starting the show with a dedication to the designer’s late father, Studio 189 designers
Abrima Erwiah and Rosario Dawson presented their entirely print-based collection titled
Mélange. A mixture of techniques including hand batik, weaving, patchwork, indigo dyeing and
basket weaving was used to create African-inspired garments in a celebration of cultures,
individuality, bright colours, textures and prints.

Sandy Liang

It was definitely back-to-school season at Sandy Liang’s show. Models embodied an ultimate
preppy-chic aesthetic in a neutral cool-toned collection inspired by school uniforms and 90s
minimalism with chunky loafers, satin ballet pumps, tiny bra tops, low waistlines and corsetry in
a relaxed fit.

Khaite

Moody, dark and edgy was the impression from the Khaite show. Now one of New York’s ‘It’
brands, with a large celebrity and influencer cult following, designer Catherine Holstein had a lot
to live up to and she did not disappoint. The collection featured statement sharp-lined tailored

jackets, fringed body-skimming gowns, peasant skirts, bustiers and low waistlines with plenty of
python prints, sequins and silk fringing.

Puppets & Puppets

Puppets & Puppets’ artist-turned-designer Carly Mark has turned her project into a renowned
brand in an impressive four years. Known for her eccentric designs, Carly’s show was inspired
by the film ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ – particularly Nicole Kidman’s savvy independent character. The
collection featured intricate, elegant yet bold eveningwear that would have you standing out
from the crowd.

Alejandra Alonso Rojas

Alejandra Alonso Rojas’s show was hosted at Verōnika, the upscale restaurant at the
Fotografiska Museum on Park Avenue South. In collaboration with artist Philippine de
Richemont, the collection was elegant, romantic and uplifting with feminine silhouettes and
colour palettes, silky slip dresses, powerful prints, fringing and crochet.

Badgley Mischka

Romantic, feminine and elegant was the theme of the Badgley Mischka show. Designer duo
Mark Badgley and James Mischka drew inspiration from the colours of Moroccan cities for an
uplifting collection of eveningwear featuring dreamy gowns, sequin suits, voluminous ruffles,
delicate embroidery and feminine silhouettes.

Barragán

Edgy, rebellious, scandalous and sexy. Victor Barragán’s niche show was held in a reimagined
festival space surrounded by chaos – litter, bottles, graffiti and fake dollar bills. Featuring only
white models, the show was a nod to white culture and American capitalism with dollar bills,
briefcases, ties and shirts starring in the collection. The collection also had strong utilitarian
elements with leather, netting and tape as well as a rave culture theme with micro mini dresses
and low-slung waistlines.

Who Decides War

Bringing the chilled Caribbean vibes to New York, designer duo Everard Best and Téla D’Amore
were inspired by their roots for their latest collection, unofficially named ‘Underwater’ in a nod to
climate change. The predominantly menswear collection featured bold colours and casual
streetwear with an edge.

In a bid to reimagine the label’s signature preppy style, Tommy Hilfiger’s latest collection
featured sophisticated sharp suits, tailored trousers and smart dresses in neutral shades perfect

Luar

Cool, sharp and powerful – very New York, was the essence of the highly anticipated Luar show
held at the end of the day at The Shed. Designer Raúl Lopez was inspired for the collection by
his family gatherings as a child growing up in a Dominican family in Brooklyn. The line featured
both men’s and womenswear but held a strong masculine influence throughout with sharp lines,
enlarged shoulders, oversized fits, suits and crocodile skin full-length coats.

ready-to-wear shows such as Coach, Kim Shui and LaQuan Smith which provided a

The day started joyously at The Plaza Hotel for Carolina Herrera’s show. Designer Wes Gordon
put on a cheerful display of voluminous frocks with beachy stripes and floral prints in sunshine
yellow and sky blue.

Veronica Beard

Veronica Beard also brought the sunshine to the big city with bright pastel shades and seaside
stripes in her tailored collection featuring sharp angle suit co-ords, mini skirts and flowing

The NYFW Diaries: Day Five

Day five of Fashion Week in the big city (Tuesday 13th September) saw a host of colourful
shows from the likes of Tory Burch, Brandon Maxwell, Christian Cowan and Gabriela Hearst.

Snow Xue Gao

Starting off the day, Snow Xue Gao brought ultimate print power with a selection of intricate,
boldly-coloured Japanese-influenced mini dresses, skirts and jumpsuits perfect for a relaxed
Spring getaway.

Brandon Maxwell

Known for his glamorous New York-style partywear, Brandon Maxwell opted for a more subtle
approach for his latest collection with a sophisticated take on the Y2K style. As the sound of
birds chirping played throughout, models showcased mini dresses, relaxed wide-leg jumpsuits
and tailored oversized blazers with pastel hues, glitterball sequins and silky satins ready for a
night out in the city that never sleeps.

Parsons MFA

Parsons School of Design delivered a spectacle of a whooping 102 abstract looks made by
talented students which certainly made a show to remember. It was mad, chaotic yet
undoubtedly beautiful in a celebration which pushed the limits of fashion. Although maybe not
exactly wearable, the collection included extreme distressing and exaggerated proportions as
well as a multitude of techniques, textures and colours. A* marks!

Adam Lippes

Inspired by his Egyptian travels, Adam Lippes’ collection featured an array of relaxed
silhouettes, ruffles, pleats, volume and intricate prints in soft tones.

Gabriela Hearst

Want to feel like a Greek goddess? Look to Gabriela Hearst’s latest heavenly collection of
golden gilded eveningwear featuring a feminine array of full-length body-skimming gowns,
tailored suits, silk knit dresses, gold thread embroidery and bold prints in warm tones. As if the
show couldn’t get more divine, a gospel choir sang throughout along the side of the runway,
creating an atmosphere of pure bliss.

Bach Mai

Bach Mai drew inspiration from the trapeze line Yves Saint Laurent introduced at Christian Dior
in 1958, with the collection focusing on creating shape. It consisted of voluminous, pleated,
lengthy skirts in a selection of smart tweeds, foiled metallic materials and sheer floaty fabrics.

Adeam

Adeam’s designer Hanako Maeda brought the sunshine to New York with a holiday-ready
collection of feminine sundresses adorned with flamboyant ruffles and puff sleeves in a selection
of bright colours and ditsy prints.

Bevza

Bevza’s show held an important message, inspired by designer Svitlana Bevza’s experience as
one of the over 10 million Ukrainians who fled their homes when Russia invaded the country
over six months ago. Starting with a moment of silence for Ukrainian lives lost during the war,

the show presented a muted collection produced by an entirely Ukrainian team featuring
utilitarian leather garments, breast-plated gowns and distressing which was also inspired by one
of the biggest issues affecting Ukraine right now: the wheat crisis.

Maisie Wilen

Maisie Wilen brought a sense of the eccentric with a collection featuring psychedelic geometric
prints, provocative catsuits and Y2K micro skirts and baby tees.

Peter Do

Cool, sophisticated and edgy was the impression of Peter Do’s collection consisting of
masculine silhouettes, sharp-cut jackets, loose-fitting shirt dresses and straight-fit midi skirts in a
selection of leather, chiffon and mesh fabrics.

Jonathan Simkhai

Jonathan Simkhai kept it fresh with a day-to-night collection fit for a hustling New Yorker. The
show featured sharp tailored suits ready for businesses as well as sultry and sparkling evening
dresses for a night out in the big city.

Tory Burch

Sleek and streamlined, Tory Burch’s collection was inspired by 90s wardrobes with low-slung
waistlines, masculine silhouettes, mesh tops with lingerie peaking through, relaxed tailored
jackets and trousers for the ultimate cool city-girl aesthetic.

Christian Cowan

Christian Cowan ended the day with a bang. The show, inspired by his youthful nights in
London, was a carnival of bright bold colours, loud prints and exaggerated proportions for a wild
and provocative collection of partywear.

The NYFW Diaries: Day Six

The sixth and final day of New York Fashion Week (Wednesday 14th September) finished the
event in style with must-see Spring 2023 ready-to-wear collections from Michael Kors, Tom
Ford, Batsheva, Aliétte and many more.

Batsheva

At Ben’s Kosher Deli, Batsheva Hay started off the day switching it up, moving away from her
usual “Laura Ashley” “frumpy garments” (she told Vogue) towards a sexy 70s-inspired collection
featuring more skin, PVC dresses, low-slung midi skirts, micro minis and crop tops yet there still
remained a strong array of girly ditsy prints.

Michael Kors

Sophisticated, sexy, sleek and streamlined was the vibe of Michael Kors’ day-to-night collection
inspired by American 70s fashion icons. The show featured low-slung waistlines, daringly high
slit skirts, cool wide-leg tailored trousers and dazzling floor-length gowns – a wardrobe perfect
for the bustling bright-light city.

Deveaux

Making a return to the runway after three years, Deveaux’s designer Andrea Tsao took
inspiration from workwear for a collection featuring oversized masculine silhouettes, tailored
shirts and trousers, cool mesh fabrics and trendy cargos fit for the office.

Kenneth Nicholson

Unlike his usual romantic themes, Kenneth Nicholson also found inspiration in corporate office
life, with his show taking place in an office building in the Financial District as the sounds of
clanging keyboard keys and printers welcomed the guests. The collection was a journey through
a typical working day – beginning with sleepy pyjama-clad models, followed by sharp tailored
suits, newspaper-print garments and slinky ravewear.

Aliétte

Aliétte designer Jason Rembert brought the fairytale to New York in his show presented at the
charming vintage Georgia Room in Manhattan with the gentle sounds of birds chirping over
whimsical versions of R&B and rap tracks including Khia’s 2001 hit ‘My Neck, My Back’. Nature
played a large influence with grassy textures, slinky satin dresses and voluminous gowns fit for
a princess.

Wiederhoeft

Jackson Wiederhoeft certainly didn’t hold back with his punk-inspired, eccentric, rebellious
designs featuring a range of extravagant garments with bright colours, prints, exaggerated
proportions, provocative mesh materials and a distinct dramatic flare.

Theophilio

Theophilio’s designer Edvin Thompson brought a sense of nostalgia with a sexy yet comfortable
take on the Y2K style of his youth. The collection featured trendy baby tees, low-slung waistline

trousers and sequined mini dresses in an array of mesh, metallic, high-vis and leather materials
fit for a throwback club night.

Markarian

A state of serenity transcended on Markarian’s runway, presenting designer Alexandra O’Neill’s
collection of romantic feminine dresses with sweetheart necklines, off-the-shoulder fits, flowing
hemlines and soft shades.

Willy Chavarria

Willy Chavarria took us to church with his Catholic-themed menswear collection featuring
exaggerated proportions, oversized fits, sharp suits, lengthy skirts, Peter Pan collars and casual

Tom Ford

With the pressure of closing Fashion Week, Tom Ford did not disappoint. A room packed with
celebs, including Madonna, Chris Rock and Ciara, witnessed the dazzling display of his
signature sexy style. The collection featured sultry black lace lingerie, hardcore leather jackets,
sharp suits and blinding sequins gowns made for the bright-light big city.

Straight talking, sassy and charismatic are just a few phrases that come to mind when thinking of Rap trailblazer Junglepussy. With the announcement that her five-track project ‘Jp5000’ is coming on Friday 4th February, we delve into the unfiltered mind of Junglepussy and what to expect from her upcoming music. 

The mind behind this fierce persona is Shayna McHayle, hailing from New York, she has become well-loved for her candid lyricism, infectious phrasing and ability to continuously reinvent herself. Her current most popular track ‘Trader Joe’ has amassed over 12 million streams on Spotify, and as her following continues to grow, it is clear Junglepussy is in her own lane.

The project’s lead single ‘Critqua’, invites us into Jungle’s psychedelic and inventive style, married with idiosyncratic visuals. The track features laid back Hip-Hop production, leaving Junglepussy’s vocal performance and snappy lyrics at the forefront of the song. Her lyricism tells the story of no longer caring about criticism, with almost every line worthy of being a standout phrase.

And you deserve what you get

That tongue audacious”

‘Jp5000’ will come as Junglepussy’s fifth project, and is said to be her most mellow and introspective record yet. Across the project’s five tracks, Junglepussy has united with incredible talent, drawing production credits from the likes of Suzi Analogue (celebrated collaborator of Grammy Award-nominated Tokimonsta) and Nick Hakim (Erykah Badu, BADBADNOTGOOD). 

From a captivating lead single, promising talent collaborations, to introspective lyricism, we think ‘Jp5000’ will further extend what we know of Junglepussy. But, one thing is certain, we can expect boldness and honesty.
