DSQUARED2 celebrated their 30th anniversary last night by turning the runway into a New York club scene, even including a gathered crowd outside, for the ultimate birthday bash. 

The runway was graced by famous faces in leu of their 30th anniversary. The stars that featured were Alex Consani, Irina Shayk, Isabeli Fontana, Tyson Beckford, and of course iconic supermodel Naomi Campbell closing the show, and not forgetting a special performance from JT at the end.

Doechii kicked off the show as she pulled up in a military-style vehicle exiting with dollar bills and in an army inspired look; wearing denim booty shorts, an oversized chunky brown belt, and a green corseted jacket, she stormed the runway along with a makeshift cigarette packet fixed to her sleeve which she pulled a cigarette out of.

Born in Canada, Made in Italy, is the founding brothers, Dean & Dan Caten’s slogan but it’s clear their inspiration was drawn from America as we saw Western cowboy tropes, biker leather and an abundance of New York City references including the classic yellow taxis and NYPD cars. 

Dean and Dan unveiled heavy duty denim, studded leather jackets, fur trims, a whole lot of army green, plus the return of DSQUARED2’s iconic Skate Boot. Cowboy references ran deep as the audience saw a heavy nod towards the trend that’s been so prominent over the past year and clearly on its way to making a return this autumn. Brought to life by the models strutting in cowboy boots with silver accents, leather chaps and jackets, flannel shirts and neckties, and not forgetting the most important accessory – the cowboy hat (and a belt here and there) to bring the looks together.

Renderings of leather and denim played a significant role in DSQUARED2’s show, seen as both gilets, bottoms, and everything in between, and most importantly Naomi Campbell’s whole ensemble including thigh high leather boots for the finale. This along with a few baker boy caps dotted throughout gave a nod to a sort of 1930s American pluck.

DSQUARED2 didn’t forget about America’s punk-rock era with nods towards the band KISS in both the makeup and the clothing which included their logo as the show started to draw to a close. We also got a bit of 70s disco thrown into the mix with neon catsuits, jewelled disco ball dresses, a multi-colour sequin tank, and a roller skater in a fishnet vest with a bedazzled denim jacket performing jaw dropping tricks on the runway.

To finish the show off, the DSQUARED2 brothers pulled up in an NYPD cop car and were walked down the runway in handcuffs by a police officer. Arrested for that bombshell of a show? We should hope so.

]]> The Cannes Film Festival has long held it’s position as one of the most notable Red Carpets when it comes to fashion, and being located under the boiling sun of the South coast of France, it brings some of the chicest Summer Runway looks that we get to see all year. 

For their 77th Festival this year, they had an impressive line-up of films – including Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, starring Adam Driver; the apocalyptic action film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, with Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth; and the first part of Kevin Costner’s Civil War epic Horizon: An American Saga, starring Sienna Miller.

The star-studded festival definitely didn’t let us down when it came to the glistening list of attendees nor the fashion and we thought we’d break down some of the looks we can’t stop thinking about.

Leopard print has a rich history, it is a print associated with power, status, and luxury. In the 20th century, it gained popularity among Hollywood celebrities, especially during the glamorous eras of the 1950s and 1960s, where it became synonymous with elegance and boldness. Leopard print is also a huge staple in the indie sleaze style, with some of our favourite “cool girls” donning the print as their IT girl uniform.

One example of this being Alexa Chung. Previously known for modelling, being a TV personality and her relationship with Alex Turner, the lead singer of one of the biggest bands of the last few decades, the Artic Monkeys and overall being generally chic. Alexa‘s use of leopard print is the effortlessly cool look we all strive for.

Another iconic use of leopard print is when Naomi Campbell wore it head-to-toe at Azzedine Alaïa’s autumn/winter 1991 show – an image which is a key feature on the aesthetic Pinterest boards of fashion loving Gen Z’s.

One designer that’s built it’s brand image alongside it’s avid use of leopard print is Dolce and Gabbana. Recently, Kim Kardashian was the creative director of one of their runway shows in Milan as well as being a new face to the brand. A lot of the looks were 90’s inspired which in turn, included a lot of leopard print.

Their frilly collared shirts and leopard print jeans being two pieces that particularly stand out to us. Since we view leopard as a neutral, we can almost excuse the price tag. However, a few more budget friendly options are Damson Madder, Asos and Jaded London.

]]> Naomi. An icon so powerful that only a first name is needed to recognize her. She was the first black model on the cover of British Vogue and Time Magazine, one of the original 90s supermodels, and a Versace muse. And now, she’s a landmark as well. Opening on 22 June 2024, The V&A Museum will dedicate its next fashion exhibition to the 40-year career of Naomi Campbell, from being scouted at 15 years old in Covent Garden to becoming a cultural figure.

This is the first time a supermodel will be the subject of a V&A retrospective, but that title seems to fall short – historical icon fits Campbell better. She’s expanded from fashion to philanthropy, film production, activism, and art direction, which are all set to be included. We’ll see a different side of picture-perfect Naomi, one that joined the Black Girls Coalition in 1989, campaigns for more diversity on the catwalk, and was heavily inspired by Nelson Mandela.

Retrospective is just as small a label as Supermodel; the mononymous icon still makes headlines with her style, is a runway regular, and just designed a collection for Pretty Little Thing.

With ‘Naomi’, 100 carefully curated looks and a photography installation will take us on a journey through her closet— and fashion history. The garments featured are from Campbell’s personal collection and archive pieces loaned by designers. The exhibition will see an unprecedented close involvement from the subject herself, who said she’s “honoured to be asked by the V&A to share my life in clothes with the world”.

Curator Sonnet Stanfill has said that this overwhelmingly extensive collection is not the main challenge, but rather that they could be adding looks right “up until the day before the exhibition”. But even some stars shine brighter than others, and the looks below? They’re sure to be included. after all, they’re as close to the sun as fashion moments get.

1993

This lilac Chanel suit she wore on the October 1993 runway is one of the only looks confirmed by the V&A. The exhibition will follow the current retrospective dedicated to Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, so this proves to be a seamless transition.

2019

Her 2019 Met Gala dress by Valentino is the second confirmed look, which makes sense given that it’s the same year Campbell won the Fashion Icon of the Year Award.

1991

The exhibition will give us an insider look at her life, as told from Naomi’s voice. With this deeply personal nature, we expect to see plenty of Azzedine Alaïa, whom she called Papa and had a father-daughter relationship with. This mesh leopard catsuit with ruffle cuffs from Autumn/Winter 1991 was one of her most iconic runway moments; signature smirk included.

1991

A Versace look from the Versace muse will undoubtedly make an appearance. Not only was designer Gianni Versace a dear friend of Naomi but also the creator of the supermodel status. In this spring/summer 1991 dress, she delivered the soon-to-be signature strut that made her one of the 90s original supermodels alongside the likes of Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford. The Big Five remain just as historically significant as they were in their heyday too: Apple TV+ just released a documentary about them, Vogue reunited the girl group for this year’s September issue, and they closed the Vogue World London event hand-in-hand.

1999

One of the most iconic duos of the 90s, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell’s friendship reigned the decade while becoming the faces of a generation. They loved partying, champagne, and shimmering Versace dresses (‘wagons’ are their self-assigned nicknames for each other because it means drunk in Irish), so this look from the brand’s Diamonds are Forever event will hopefully be included. The mini dress shows off Campbell’s fashion prowess, with her wearing the sparkly butterflies before it became a Y2K trend.

1993

The supermodel’s fall in 12-inch platforms during the Vivienne Westwood 1993 show is one of the most defining moments of her career. Naomi’s self-deprecating smile post-stumble grazed the cover of magazines for weeks after, and the flounce of the boa right after was what enamored the world with her. The supermodel has confessed that some designers even ask her to recreate the fall. In an interview with Westwood, she said: “A couple of people, designers, asked me if I would fall for them. And I was like, ‘Why would you want me to fall unnecessarily?!’ ‘Press! The press that you got!’ But it wasn’t planned!”.

1997

Attending the 1997 MTV Music Video Awards, Naomi wore ’The Paris Hilton Dress’ years before the hotel heiress ever did. This sparkly mini dress belongs to her personal Versace collection, a keepsake that for her represents a fond memory, but for the world? It’s fashion history. Alongside this getup, curator Stanfill has confirmed we should expect a myriad of dresses, including designs from Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, and Virgil Abloh.

1998

In head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, this look shows the more casual style of Naomi (barring the private jet in the background) as she arrived in Paris for the season. From the sunglasses to the massive logomania bags, this look oozes 90s.

1995

Another one of the most significant moments from her runway career, Naomi showcased her feral energy for Thierry Mugler’s autumn/winter 1995 show. This wasn’t just a walk through an elevated platform, it was a performance that showed the difference between model and supermodel.

2023

In her most recent runway moment (for now), Campbell closed Sarah Burton’s last show for Alexander McQueen during the Spring Summer 2024 season in Paris. A longtime collaborator of the brand and dear friend of Burton, this proved to be an emotional moment for not only her but the fashion industry as a whole.

]]> Burberry presents the evolution of its TB Summer Monogram collection, designed by Riccardo Tisci, Chief Creative Officer of the brand, with a new campaign that celebrates the optimism of a new season and the spirit of summer. The project features the famous supermodel Naomi Campbell.

The campaign captures a journey through different worlds, blending the classicism of still images with the modernity of CGI technology. In the photos taken by Danko Steiner, the famous model stands strong on architectural plinths reflected in the water, in a minimalist reinterpretation of coastal lands, reads the note. The images of the campaign turn into a dream digital realm into a video, created by visual artist Frederik Heyman, with a CGI incarnation of Naomi Campbell.

“Working with Riccardo is always magical,” she said. “He always has such a unique vision and he can always bring out a new aspect of me, pushing me to do things I wouldn’t even think of. Working with Burberry is also such an honor. It is a British institution and it has been since it was founded in 1856: in a sense, you feel like you are representing your country. I feel that British style and attitude always drive trends. We don’t just wear it, we live it.”

“For my third TB Summer Monogram collection, I wanted to celebrate the balance between our heritage and the importance of always evolving and looking ahead. The collection captures that feeling of summer optimism, constant momentum, as well as excitement for the future,” Tisci said. “And for this campaign I couldn’t think of anyone but my incredible friend Naomi Campbell, that best symbolizes this spirit. Naomi has this transcendental energy and beauty and embodies both a timeless classicism and the vitality of summer”.

To bring this campaign to life, Tisci worked with a creative team including photographer Danko Steiner, stylist Catherine Baba, makeup artist Adam Fleischhauer and hairstylist Jawara, as well as collaborating with the visual artist Frederik Heyman to give life to the campaign in a unique CGI world.

The new TB Summer Monogram collection will be available online and in selected Burberry stores worldwide from July 16.

British supermodel, and one of our all-time favourites, Naomi Campbell surprised us on Tuesday announcing the birth of her baby girl at the age of 50.

The news was shared via Instagram where she wrote “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother,” under a photograph of her hand cradling her baby’s feet. “So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life… no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you, my angel. There is no greater love.”

In honour of the exciting news and the supermodel’s upcoming birthday, we have selected a few of her most iconic looks through the years.

From the countless viral videos regarding the tool, many people go as far as saying that it offers an alternative non-surgical treatment to cheek fillers and augmentation & enhancement procedures. The best thing about it is that you can get it for as little as £4.95 on Amazon. But can a self using beauty tool that costs less than a matcha latte truly give us Naomi Campbell’s cheekbones in no time? Let’s find out.

If you’ve ever wondered how Naomi Campbell has retained her flawless 90s supermodel pre-runway glow over the years, we can confirm it’s down to a rigorous skincare routine that focuses on hydration and a mysterious concoction of powerful active ingredients. Straight from her bathroom sink, the now 50-year-old activist reveals her youth retaining beauty secrets in an exclusive video tutorial for Vogue. And although some steps remain elusive, we’ve broken down this scientifically backed regimen so that we too, can achieve that coveted supermodel complexion that we’ve all been looking for. 

After cleansing, Naomi dives straight in with a healthy spritz of the La Roche-Posay Serozinc—a product renowned for its acne-fighting and cell repairing properties that’s been a staple for the supermodel for a number of years. Over on her personal YouTube channel, Naomi exclaims, “zinc is so good for the skin. Zinc is like magic, but you have to keep spraying zinc constantly.” 

We may only reserve this power-house ingredient for our sunscreen, but zinc offers more than barrier protection. According to dermatologist Dr. Jennifer Herrmann, “zinc acts as an enzyme cofactor, it assists in collagen synthesis and DNA repair, which can help keep skin looking younger and healthier.” No wonder she hasn’t aged!

Naomi follows up with an at-home micro needling session, using a clinically sourced derma roller that improves serum absorption by a mind-blowing 300% while simultaneously increasing elastin and collagen production. Many skin concerns can be alleviated with this process, including acne scarring, fine lines, and enlarged pores. And with this advice in mind, perhaps the most exciting beauty secret of all is revealed—a completely customised serum jam-packed with anti-aging and free-radical fighting molecules that we can certainly credit for her eternally youthful complexion. Naomi begins by putting a small amount of an unmarked serum into the palm of her hand, before adding a few drops of Vitamin E Nanoparticles. 

Not only does this solution increase hydration levels, but most importantly it fights against any free-radicals that may have been caused by harmful UV rays—one of the key culprits behind premature aging. And that’s not all, one drop of the Dr. Sebagh Serum Repair is added to the mix, incorporating skin plumping collagen with moisture boosting hyaluronic acid and glycerin to ensure continual skin elasticity. 

The final addition to this customised formulation is a few pinches of the (what we assume to be) Dr. Sebagh Pure Vitamin C Powder Cream before being thoroughly mixed between Naomi’s palms into a seamless consistency that is then massaged up the neck, along the jawline, across the cheeks towards the temples, and under the eyes.

Not to mention Queen Bey as being the world’s biggest superstar, but she has acted as a beacon of light and hope in supporting and empowering the black community. So it was no surprise that when she announced a new visual album titled Black Is King it was met with incredible excitement from fans across the internet. Beyoncé stated in an Instagram post the visual album was originally filmed as a companion piece to The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack and is meant to “celebrate the breadth and beauty of Black ancestry”.

Recently the official trailer was revealed by Disney+ (where it will be exclusively streaming) and it looks nothing short of stunning. The trailer also features cameos from the likes of Kelly Rowland, Jay-Z, Naomi Campbell and even Pharrell Williams. Although not much is known about the plot it was revealed in a press release that Black Is King will focus on a “tale about a young king’s transcendent journey through betrayal, love and self-identity”. It’s no doubt that this release will have a huge cultural impact given its relevancy to the racial injustice, unfortunately, happening all over the world right now.

In Addition, Beyoncé has even made sure that Black Is King will be available to stream in most countries within the continent of Africa by teaming up with MultiChoice Group’s M-Net and Canal+ Afrique. Beyoncé is no stranger to the medium of visual albums given that her 2016 masterpiece Lemonade was also premiered as a visual album on HBO. Lemonade was a huge stepping-stone in her career as it was one of the first times she openly expressed her political views and she hasn’t turned back since.

Black Is King will be arriving globally to stream via Disney+ on July 31st and is set to be one of the most important pieces of media released this year, created by one of the world’s biggest superstars.
