Like every year, New Year’s Eve is all about glitter and glamour as it’s the one night of the year when you can really go all out with your make-up and get glammed up for the evening’s events. Expect to be dazzled by these sparkly looks that we are obsessed with this New Year’s Eve as they are eye-catching and would be amazing for any New Year’s Eve event.  

Sparkling Silver

Silver eyeshadow is a go-to look for any New Year’s event as it is eye-catching, timeless, and beautifully flattering. Claudia, a TikTok make-up artist created a gorgeously warm toned makeup look with silver sparkles on the eyes to bring that pop of sparkle to the look and make it NYE-inspired. The make-up artist used the Huda Beauty Cashmere Robe Liquid eyeshadow as a base for the eyes as it has a warm bronzed tone so would be good to build upon. She then did a smokey black eyeliner to add definition to the look, while finishing with glittery eyeshadow on top. The eyes in the look are the main attraction as the muted nude lip allows the eyes to dominate the look. For those of you who are on board with jazzing up your looks the New Year’s Eve by adding a splash of sparkle but don’t want to overdo it, this next look is a good happy medium as it has a touch of sparkle but not too much that it overpowers the look. The TikTok influencer Rashna has used the Mario Master Crystal Reflector in the shade Quartz to add a subtle sparkly base to the eyes and then followed up with Colorfix Glaze in Clear to add a wet look to the glittery eyes and make them pop and shine. The influencer has gone for a golden glam this holiday that looks classy and elegant while also being simple enough that it doesn’t dominate her face. Her eye makeup alongside her lips and both are as eye-catching as the other and therefore one doesn’t upstage the other. The entire makeup look goes together perfectly and is a great look to recreate if you don’t want your make-up to be too domineering. Victoria also used the YSL lipstick in a red shade and it is very flattering on her lips. We are big fans of the genderless dressing and hope to see Kicki in more similar styles.

Our sunshine of the week, Miss Winnie Harlow. An amazing bright yellow ruffled train gown which we are adoring. This look is everything we need, it’s dramatic, eye-catching and gorgeous. ]]> If you have recently heard the word gorpcore and have been left confused by its meaning, you are in the right place. Gorpcore is the new aesthetic taking the Gen Z world by storm. The acronym stands for the classic hiking snacks- ‘Good Ol’ Raisons and Peanuts’ – as the trend stems from the fashion worn while exploring the great outdoors.  Coined in 2017 by The Cut (https://www.thecut.com/2017/05/new-fashion-trends-normcore-gorpcore.html ), gorpcore originally prevailed in men’s fashion, however, we are glad to tell you gorpcore has finally emerged in womenswear. 

The charm of gorpcore is ironic; conventionally unstylish clothes…are stylish! This trend flips the fashion world on its head and opens up the possibility for almost endless outfits. Practicality, utility, and comfort are just as important as style for capturing the true nature of this aesthetic. Brands like Patagonia and Arc’teryx are closely linked with the aesthetic and classic sports brands like Nike and New Balance have proven their place within the trend. Dress it up or dress it down, there are so many ways to bring the adventure of extreme sports into your wardrobe. Let’s take a look to see how some of our favourite women are sporting the not-so-stylish, stylish looks of gorpcore. 

Megan Trong

Where to start talking about this fit. This is head-to-toe gorpcore glam and it doesn’t get much better in our opinion. Megan Trong wears her The Basement x New Balance 2002r, which she matches with a reflective waterproof jacket. Both trainers and jacket are a moss green colour, very fitting choice for gorp! Her ribbed skirt gives off a metallic shine which ties in with the reflecting properties of her jacket. Not to mention her sunglasses make her look as if she is fresh off the slopes, but now ready for business. All we can say is if you are looking for gorpcore inspiration, Megan knows what she is doing.

Betsy Johnson

Betsy Johnson is all over gorpcore. This all black, oversized outfit is super chic. Cargo pants remain really popular this year so you should have no problem recreating this style. Giving Johnson the ‘matrix look’, her sunglasses and headband are perfect for multi-use, whether that be climbing up a hill or strutting down Oxford Street. 

Bella Hadid

Bella has recently been showing us she is a big fan of the midi skirt and sport jacket combo. We are loving her take on gorpcore and think she is creating some iconic looks in the process. Her playful use of opposing silhouettes has high fashion written all over it. 

Betsy Johnson, Caity Baser and Billie Eilish

These women have a similar take on the trend and are expressing the grungier side of gorpcore. Baggy sweats, cargos, and parachute pants are paired with baggy t-shirts and/or tight long sleeve tops and chunky everyday trainers. Dark and earthy colours are definitely sitting in the driver’s seat for gorpcore this season. This style of gorpcore works great for casual, everyday wear. 

Kicki Yang Zhang

The ultimate gorpcore look. We love the simplicity and elegance of this fit. Could you look any better at the top of a mountain? Probably not. Keep an eye on Kicki for more of her showstopping looks.

Power dressing at its finest. The 80s-inspired shoulder-padded suit jacket with its cinched-in waist is effortlessly fabulous. Stone is almost head-to-toe YSL, no wonder we are impressed. Not only does this elegant look stand out, but Stone also surprises us by giving us a glimpse of her leg as we see a large leg slit tailored into the skirt.

Kylie is getting adventurous this week exploring the beach. We love the gorpcore aesthetic she is rocking in these images. Not many people can make such a simple concept as high fashion as Kylie, and we have gathered some products to recreate the lavish look.

Celebrating her 26th Birthday this week, Hailey Bieber headed out in Tokyo to party with husband, Justin Bieber, and some of her best friends. Bieber’s birthday fit is everything we could hope it to be. Inspired by the glam of 1940’s Hollywood, Hailey makes this outfit her own by pairing the glamour of her sparkly corset and fur coat with a pair of baggy, low rise jeans. 

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa is making us all wink, in this pink sporty two-piece. Sign us up for the next game if this is the fashion at the side-lines.

Florence Pugh

Darling, we do not need to worry about Florence Pugh when it comes to fashion. In a Victoria Beckham sheer dress from the SS 23 collection, she is a sight for sore eyes. Although not available yet, we have found some similar pieces which might take your fancy. 

Rowi Singh

Simply shellshocked at this ensemble. If sweet and sexy had a lovechild, it would be this outfit. We are loving the statement cardigan and double-slit skirt, which she has met with a chunky belt. This is an incredible fit from Rowi, then again aren’t they all.

Ashourina

Ashourina, giving us another sheer, lengthy gown. Featuring delicate ruffles, this off-the shoulder dress is elegant and sexy. She also wears statement silver cuff style bracelets and a matching choker necklace to compliment the dress in a contrasting manner. And we can’t forget about the beautifully pointed knee-high boots peaking out from under the dress.

]]> Gucci has created a uniquely creative campaign with Hypebeast to capture the essence of their monochromatic redesigned styles. The monochrome collection is made up of freshly designed versions of their classic footwear products – the Basket, Screener and Rhyton. 

The reinvented Gucci Baskets are available in high and low-top styles, with contrasting black and white stripes. The famous Screeners with a 70s-inspired flair have been designed in white leather with a dual-colour sole. Last, but not least, the chunky souled Rhyton comes in a black and white colourway as well as a full black.

However, Gucci is not the only one recreating masterpieces in monochromatic colours. New contemporary artists Elspeth Vince, Navinder Nangla, and Shaquille-Aaron Keith have chosen one of their past artworks to recreate in a colourless form. Just like the trainers, the artists’ work are transformed into black-and-white paintings. Focus is put on forms and shapes as these paintings are shown in a different perspective- similar to the Baskets, Screeners, and Rhytons. Blurring the lines between art and fashion and merging the two worlds together head-on, is exciting and inspiring. 

Inspired by lots, Vince took influence from conversations among friends as well as her own body to tell the story of this piece. She puts focus on memory through her playful use of light and shadows.

Nangla sees his work in a therapeutic manner as he takes joy in creating his artwork.  Inspired by his mantra ‘destruction is a form of creation’ his black and white painting is everything we love about contemporary and modern art. 

Shaquille-Aaron Keith believes he is a storyteller before he is an artist. Art allows him to tell stories which otherwise may not be told. His painting tells the story of his youth and allows him to reflect on his adolescent years. Although his painting was already a monochromatic masterpiece, he took the inspired decision to invert everything in his composition. 

The Campaign

The campaign caught our attention very easily as Hyperbeast create an auction scene allowing Gucci wearers to bid on the three paintings which were re-imagined by the artists. A comedic, while remaining high fashion tone is used in the campaign which speaks the nature of the brand. Bidders are cleverly wearing the monochrome collection which is easily spotted in the unconventional auction room while they try to outbid each other on the paintings. The campaign ends with the auctioneer- Columnist Raven Smith- awarding the highest bidder the win. Now that is an auction we would like to attend.

Better known on Instagram as Kickiyangz, we are obsessed with her fit of the week. Kicki describes her look as “giving clown core and I love it” and we certainly love it too. The tie, shirt, tights, and chunky loafer combo give off a schoolgirl aesthetic with a modern twist as she matches argyle checks on her tights and sweater vest. We love the added shades of cool blue from her utility, cargo-style skirt, and fleeced coat. 

Maya Jama

Maya is driving us mad with this super stylish racer look. The House of Sunny fit is giving serious formula 1 vibes and my gosh, does Maya Jama look amazing in it (career change?). She’s paired the leather ensemble with a cropped white top which allows the two-piece to make a huge statement. We’ll be sure to catch Jama on the track soon giving Lewis Hamilton a run for his money. 

Bebe Rexha

This week Rexha gave us futuristic fashion as she attended the MTV EMA Awards. The exaggerated shoulders, corseted bodice, and teardrop cut-outs are fresh, and we can’t get enough. The metallic aesthetic of her fit catches the light subtly and allowed her to shine even brighter during her performance.

Winnie Harlow

Harlow may have been courtside, but she was sporting full early 2000s. Shown supporting her partner at his basketball game this week, Winnie Harlow could be seen covered in diamontes and jewels. Layered with sparkling bracelets, Harlow also carried a small, glittered handbag and wore bejewelled jeans. The return of the noughties casual tank top and oversized fur coat gave this look the edge that we love to see. 

Kylie Jenner

This week we are praising Kylie for her fearless look at the opening night of the Thierry Mugler Archive Exhibition in the Brooklyn Museum. The skin-tight sheer black catsuit covered Miss Jenner and at the same time revealed her in an intimate fashion. We loved this look and think it captures the essence of high fashion in one glance. 

Ella Snyder

We love the glam and casual combo Snyder gave us this week. The light, delicate satin gown paired with the leather dark brown boots and aviator jacket to match gets the stamp of approval from us. Embracing the colour of the season and jumping on the fur collar trend Ella Snyder is right on trend. Delicacy meets functionality. 

Khleopatre

It is official. We are in love with this look. The fit is elegant and glamorous and gives the catsuit a new meaning with the cheetah print. Khleopatre’s back is revealed in the black sheer catsuit which she shows off to the camera.  This truly is a look which we will not be able to stop thinking about.

Rosalia

We are obsessed with the sleek shades and effortless style of Rosalia’s rollerblading look. The star combines the practicality of sport with head-turning fashion as she rolls around the streets. The comfort and style combination is definitely in and we are happy to see Rosalia embrace the outdoors in her fashion.

Sav Hudson

Hudson shows off her style as she poses in front of the Hollywood sign. We are big fans of her long black trench coat paired with her colourful trainers. We are happy to see another beige, argyle print sweater being showcased this week on Hudson as well as Kicki. 

Bia

Wow. Our last look is certainly by no means behind the rest. Bia incorporates a hyper feminine pink look with classic biker style leather. We love her baby pink heeled cowgirl boots and matching half moon shoulder bag. The figure-hugging look is styled with a baggy biker jacket giving us a revival of the leather trend.
