From being signed to IMG Models to hanging out with fellow style icons Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, Lori Harvey is the LA cool girl of the moment.

In the campaign, the 26-year-old brings her competitive equestrian roots to the forefront, basking in the sun on a gorgeous ranch in Los Angeles. The fun and free vibe is perfectly captured by Harvey, which comes as no surprise given that she’s been modeling since she was three years old. Styled by none other than Emmy Award Winning costume designer Zerina Akers, the campaign shows off how the pieces sculpt, smooth, and tailor to your body.

]]> Gen Z’s most beloved makeup company is teaming up with a fan favourite clothing brand; yes, e.l.f. Cosmetics is collaborating with American Eagle. E.l.f. took to Instagram to share the announcement with an image of glossy lips with a blue ombre ‘AE’ painted onto them. And this post contained more of a hint for the collection than you may have initially clocked.

The makeup brand has since confirmed that the collection is inspired by denim, and so the blue hue on the first post starts to make a lot of sense. The cosmetic collaboration will span across both makeup and skincare, featuring four products: the Denim Daze Eyeshadow Palette, Perfect pHit Lip Balm, Get Cheeky Clay Mask, and the Beauty Is In Your Jeans Vault. 

The Denim Daze Eyeshadow Palette features 12 shades with some inspired by a classic denim blue (as you would expect), others are inspired by the versatility of denim bringing in alternative shades of grey and brown. However, the classic denim feel is still detectable throughout the palette as it is predominantly cool toned and channels the edgier aesthetic that we associate with the denim revival. There are 5 shimmer shades and 7 matte which is a perfect balance for a versatile palette that can be used to create a variety of eye looks, which is pretty good for $16 if you ask us.

Do not be alarmed by what appears to be a blue lipstick in the collection; the Perfect pHit Lip Balm is not actually blue. The $8 lip balm changes colour when applied to the lips to create “your ultimate pink lip”. While I have always found these colour-changing products to be slightly gimmicky, some have proved to be very popular in the past and it will be interesting to see how this lip product holds up within this market.

The Get Cheeky Clay Mask is being marketed as a hydrating and pore refining mask for “*both* sets of cheeks”. From this we can infer that the mask will be suitable for both your face and body, but other than that we don’t know too much about this product. All we do know is that it retails for $11 and hopefully, we will get more information and an ingredients list once the product launches on the 30th. 

The Beauty Is In Your Jeans Vault contains all three of the cosmetic products in the collection but also comes in a denim make-up bag by American Eagle. The Vault costs $50, whereas if you were to buy the collection individually it would only cost $35, so keep this in mind while you’re shopping. This being said, the collection does celebrate all things denim and so including the carry all in this campaign really ties the whole thing together. If you were on the hunt for a cute make-up bag, look no further.

The collection will be available in the US on March 30th, 2023, on elfcosmetics.com and AE.com as well as in select American Eagle stores.

]]> Denim is a staple of every season. Never going out of style denim merely adapts to new trends and styles and this year is no different. From jean skirts to cowboy chaps, denim has got a whole new look ahead of it in 2023 and so here is our rundown of all of the trends you need to know about.

Denim Maxi Skirts

A Gigi Hadid favourite, the denim maxi skirt completely took over the runway for Spring/Summer 2023. From Maison Margiela to Altuzarra, the long flowing silhouette is set to be the biggest skirt of the season as the pendulum swings away from the micro mini to the floor-scraping maxi.

Double Denim

No, your eyes do not deceive you, we did in fact say that double denim is back. One of the most controversial looks, the Canadian Tuxedo, was all over the runways for 2023. And before your mind jumps to *that* Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake look, think more 90s grunge or 70s rocker-chick. When you see the way Givenchy and Ganni have been styling this trend, you may be jumping to get your hands on a denim co-ord.

The Wider the Better

The long and free-flowing silhouette of the denim maxi skirt was not alone on the SS23 runways, it was met with its trouser counterpart, the wide leg jean. This season saw an influx of the loose, baggy jean, often styled with a more formal top as the new ‘it girl’ party uniform. The wide-leg jean has been a Gen-Z staple for some time now so this should be an easy way to incorporate a high fashion trend into your wardrobe.

Utility Denim

We have all seen how popular the cargo trouser has been in the past couple of years, and while this trend was still highly visible across the catwalks for 2023, it has evolved a bit. The popularity of the cargo pant and the general trend of workwear has now infiltrated the denim world with utility denim being seen all across the runway. From what we know about cargos, it is safe to say that this trend is going to be huge, it combines the timeless classic denim jean with the growing popularity of the cargo pant or utility trouser to create the perfect denim investment for 2023.

Cowboy Chaps

Now this one is a little bit wild (pardon the pun). While seeing Western-inspired chaps on the runway may sound shocking, it actually comes as a pretty natural progression from the cowboy boot trend that has dominated footwear for the past couple of years. Now, I know what you’re thinking, but chaps can actually be styled in a way that is not so over-the-top. Paired with some leather trousers or over an alternative shade of denim and you’ve got yourself an intricately layered look that is interesting on the eye.

]]> The Y2K era is back with a well adapted twist on Denim. Nowadays, you can’t step outside without seeing people rocking their shoulder bags, Juicy Couture, baggy trousers, and cropped tees. Even celebrities like Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and Rihanna love this fashion comeback. But the late ’90s and mid-2000s fashion trends are primarily known for flared and low-rise jeans and, most importantly, denim on denim looks. Every day we see cool outfits on Instagram with a modern spin on the Y2K era of denim. So if you need inspiration for your next y2k denim outfit, keep reading.

Model Lori Harvey posted stunning pictures from her trip to the Essence Festival, enjoying some of New Orleans’ food. She wore a cropped grey-bluish jeans outfit consisting of a cropped jacket and matching jeans. The photos show her posing in a jewellery shop and walking down toward the camera in her eye-catching outfit. She adds a splash of colour with a magenta headwrap and purple heels, perfectly accessorising the simple yet chic outfit.

There’s a reason behind Diesel being one of the most famous denim brands across Europe. Diesel jeans were the uniform of the early 2000s clubgoers. And now that y2k is the way to dress, everyone is looking at Diesel. They are not disappointing. In their recent Instagram post, they showcase an outfit from their new Fall/Winter collection: an all-denim two-piece. The slim-fit denim trucker jacket with cropped fit is part of the outfit. The jacket is enriched with white fraying at the edges and seams, giving it a special touch. The matching mini skirt gives 100% y2k vibes. A low-rise mini skirt with fraying along the pockets and waistband would have been every 2000s girl’s dream. They styled the denim outfit with black and white strappy heels and a blue mini Morsa A Spalla In Nappa.

Like Leonardo da Vinci said: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”. Sometimes simple outfits are way better. Fashionista Devon Lee Carlson knows that. On a night out, she wears blue patchwork jeans with frayed legs. With a white cropped tee, blue jeans jacket with a black print on the back, and an eye-catching neon blue shoulder bag in her hand, she is serving us a y2k look that doesn’t look outdated.

Another breathtaking all-denim look by Jean Paul Gaultier. Fashion icon Sandra Shehab wears a fitted dark denim corset vest accentuating her curves. In contrast, her matching jeans are loosely fitted, giving her a baggy and relaxed look. The denim jacket is just hanging off her shoulders. Accessorized with bright red heels and a gold Jean Paul Gaultier tin bag, the model looks absolutely stunning. We wish we could look so cool in an all-denim look.

What could be more 2000s fashion than a massive belt? In her campaign with Diesel. Model Julia Fox is wearing a light denim mini skirt with belt holes. The famous Diesel Belt Skirt is a modern twist on 2000s fashion, and we are obsessed. In combination, the model wears a denim top with cutouts that also features a belt element that goes around the waist.

The famous Balenciaga Le Cagole, but do it denim! Bella Hadid looks incredible in her Balenciaga promo shoot. The model wears low-rise loose jeans with wide legs covering almost half her black shoes. The rest of the outfit is simple: a black longarm shirt, big earrings and a jeans jacket falling off her shoulder. The photo star is the denim Le Cagole bag that perfectly matches her jeans. Simplicity at its finest. A look that is perfect for everyday and easy to recreate.

Denim at the beach? Something that we haven’t thought of until now for Sports Illustrated, Ciara sports a unique Calechie denim look. The denim shorts are super high-waisted and cut like bikini bottoms, showing more legs than your shortest hot pants. She has them slightly unbuttoned, showing off her trained body. The matching bandeau top is a denim dream come true. To finish the outfit, Ciara is wearing her beachy waves in a loose bun, with some hair strands already coming out. Maybe not the most practical outfit for the beach, but definitely a head-turning one.

Fashion icon Aleali shows us a badass denim outfit with a pop of colour. She wears a frayed oversized denim jacket by Ksenia Schnaider. Her jeans, featuring frays and big patches on the side, are from the Who Decides War collection by Murder Bravado, giving her a baggy and relaxed look. To make her outfit more exciting, Aleali added a pop of orange to her accessories, including Channel sunglasses, 424 walking boots and a bandeau top.

A denim dress in different shades of blue, with eyelets and oversized safety pins, combined with knee-high denim boots. Jorja Smith knows how to make an entrance. The singer wears a strapless denim dress for Marine Serre’s Sping 23 show. She accessorized her bold outfit with big sparkly earrings and a thick denim choker. Her hair is braided and almost reaches the ground, thanks to extensions. She shows that denim-on-denim is a fantastic look that is turning heads.

The precise, delicate world of Swarovski has collided with the urban, ‘grungy’ aesthetic Diesel and is famous for resulting in a surprising yet effective mash-up of raw hems and crystals for Diesel’s holiday 2019 collection.

The 5-piece collection’s basic blueprint screams the brand’s signature style. Staying true to their stripped-back urban roots with 5 ‘classically Diesel’ pieces, all designed with strong silhouettes that are fashioned from top quality black denim, giving them a quiet confidence underneath the embellishment.

The bustier-style top, though simple in design, is rich in detail. Its classic shape is enhanced with exposed stitching on all the seams, which is the perfect amount of detailing underneath the glistening Swarovski crystals. The top is pulled together with a chunky industrial-looking two-way zip, bringing the (otherwise quite dainty) top right back to Diesel’s urban aesthetic.

Densely packed crystals on the waist of the high-waisted shorts become increasingly interspersed as they fall down to the raw-cut hem. The intricate detailing that is a subtle reminder of the quality that is at the foundation of both Diesel and Swarovski.

Of course, the collection had to feature a Swarovski-fied version of Diesel’s iconic Babhila fit jeans. Mirroring the placement of crystals on the shorts, with the focus on the waist, cascading down the hips before elegantly fizzling out allowing the premium denim to take centre stage on the legs.

The three garments are joined by a duo of accessories; a black denim baseball cap with a myriad of tonal Swarovski crystals falling from the top in an organised chaos, and a statement denim belt which is essentially a decapitated pair of jeans. The deconstructed jeans-come-belt’s slightly frayed hem exposes just the right amount of pocket from underneath giving the piece an effortless cutting-edge ‘street’ feeling. Both accessories pair together to give the boldly classic silhouettes of the collection an overall feeling of underground, raw edginess.

The dark grungy denim contrasting with the delicately scattered, moodily black Swarovski crystals alludes to the cyber world of hacking and overall, oozes a sense of urban nocturnal glamour. A gentrified appreciation of streetwear at its finest!

Denim: an innately versatile and timeless fabric, dominating dress codes of runways and street-style stars for decades. A good, flattering pair of jeans is a woman’s best friend; a trusty, fail-safe item to always return to when in sartorial doubt. But one denim phenomenon that has divided fashion lovers and trend-spotters since its inception is the polarising question of whether we should or shouldn’t double up on our denim.

A fashion phenomenon associated with the 70s and 80s, as seen on Blondie front-woman Debbie Harry and sported by Charlie’s Angels, the origins of double denim root back to the 1950s. Also known as the Canadian Tuxedo, a phrase coined after Bing Crosby’s head-to-toe denim ensemble had him denied entry to a hotel in 1951 for failing to confirm to acceptable dress codes, double denim was donned by 50s stars from Marilyn Monroe to Elvis, whose non-conformist style caught on thanks to her iconic embodiment of 50s sexuality and his global fanbase and popularity. Fast forward to 1978 and Debbie Harry, whose fearless punk-rock style gained her style icon status, made an on-stage appearance marrying different shades of denim. Drew Barrymore’s washed-out blue, laid-back denim-on-denim 1991 look was emblematic of the 90s grunge era, in distressed jeans and an oversized jacket that screamed androgyny.

If we had to pinpoint the moment when double denim became considered no-go style territory, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake at the 2001 AMAs instantly springs to mind. An ode to double denim would be incomplete without reminiscing on their appearance in matching denim ensembles that took the Western-inspired look a little too far with denim patchwork and JT’s cowboy hat – all kinds of wrong, but iconic nonetheless. Once considered a fashion faux pas, the double denim trend is seeing a revival that designers and celebrities aren’t hesitating to jump onto. After all, borderline bad taste is in, with ‘ugly’, slightly ironic and boundary-pushing trends such as sporty sandals, cycling shorts and Paris Hilton-style one shoulder-tanks all making an impression on the fashion landscape in recent years.

It’s a comeback people still seem sceptical about – Google search ‘double denim’, and one of the first questions to pop up is “Is double denim allowed?”, as if some sort of out of bounds, contraband concept to live in fear of. The runways are saying otherwise, however, with HTT denim looks featuring on the catwalks at Tom Ford, Miu Miu and Fendi among others in recent years, pushing the boundaries by going one step further with triple or even quadruple denim. Its versatility and laid-back sophistication lend it to emulation by A-listers such as Gigi Hadid, who has been known to double up on denim on numerous occasions, and whose double-denim dress code for her 24th birthday party saw celebrities from Hailee Steinfeld to Ashley Graham make their appearance donning the controversial trend. Bella Hadid went beyond with triple denim, layering a denim shirt over a reconstructed corset and jeans, a look slightly nostalgic of Britney’s questionable 2001 attire.

Double denim radiates a feel that’s at once chic, polished and laid-back, and can be styled to fit any occasion, with chunky trainers, statement heels and ankle books all working harmoniously with an all-denim ensemble. Shades of scarlet red or injections of metallic accents in the form of bags, shoes or jewellery thrive next to icy blue and indigo hues. The classic jeans and denim jacket combination emits an NYC street-style vibe, while a pairing of a button-down shirt and jeans gives off a Western feel. Alternatively, layer denim pieces over a striped tee for an effortless French-girl style à la Diane Kruger.

However it’s styled, embracing double-denim in its daringly versatile glory and marrying denim hues has made for one of the most enduring trends of the fashion landscape in recent years, despite its disputed status as verging on bad taste.
