Rocking four new shades of red lipstick, the collection has given us different types of red lip looks we can go for depending on our style and the vibe we want to achieve. Ruby Red is a bold lip colour that has a rich satin finish and is blended with neutral tones, it is a very flattering shade and would be beautiful when paired with bold eye make-up. The New York Sunset is a burgundy shade that has burnt orange undertones that give it a mature look. After founding her namesake brand in 1991, Bobbi Brown became a household name. Brown, famous for her educational make-up books and sultry smokey eyes, left the brand in 2016. Now, the beauty mogul returns and with her, she brings the release of a brand new cosmetic company, Jones Road.

Jones Road was founded on the idea that “every product should be a hero product.” Injecting Brown’s lifetime of expertise into every item, their website argues that the world doesn’t need more beauty products. It needs better beauty products.” For Jones Road, this materialises in clean products accessible to all skin tones, skin types and skill levels.

Formulated using no phthalates, sulfates, petrolatum, PEGs, cyclic silicones, EDTA, or BPA – the brand has a no-nonsense approach to clean beauty and prioritises health and wellness at the core of its creation. In a recent IGVT video, displaying the new collection, Bobbi expressed her excitement for the release and thanked her fans for their ongoing support with her new passion project. On the brand’s website, she writes, “What I wanted was a makeup equivalent of a Swiss Army Knife: easy, cool, multi-purpose products that could be used to nail any look.”

At the centre of the launch lies the innovative Miracle Balm $38, the key to glowing ‘no make-up’ make-up looks. This versatile release can be used both alone and layered on top of foundation. The humble tank top; the versatile sleeveless staple that can so effortlessly take us from the gym to the shops, to a night out (obviously with a wash and a few styling tweaks in-between- but you get the point!). In the current climate, shopping is now a distant happy, memory and nights out are the things of dreams.

Though many of the world’s dedicated lovers of fashion might currently be feeling slightly distraught; all this time to think about and plan outfits down to the very last detail – and literally NOWHERE to go. When it comes to my appearance, I am the human personification of the phrase ‘all or nothing’. I’m either going out, (to work, for drinks, to shop) done to the nines- full outfit meticulously planned, with hair that ties the whole look together, and face contoured and highlighted to high heaven. Or, I’m staying at home, only leaving the confinements of my house to pop to Tesco in a hoodie 12 sizes too big for me, hair in that scruffy half up half down bun that comes hand in hand with being at home, and more often than not (depending on whether my skin has decided to break out), the whole ‘minimal effort’ look is topped off with a charcoal face mask.

Whilst I may have just unnecessarily outed myself, as the rest of you read this sexily lounging on your chaise lounge in your silky robes, with glamorous rollers pinned over your heads sipping champers, I can almost guarantee, (based on the evidence I have gathered from friends and colleagues) that I am the reality for at least 80% of you.

I’ll be the first to admit it, this whole being at home 24/7 is a struggle for an ‘all or nothing’ girl like me. Whilst I can quite easily nail the ‘nothing’ side of me (-literally roll out of bed, et voilà!), the ‘all’ side of me is really suffering. As much as I enjoy piecing outfits together, putting a face of makeup on and doing my hair, I just feel unnatural, uncomfortable and slightly strange sitting at my desk in my bedroom in my heeled boots, skirt and shirt combo, with my face and hair looking like I’m ready to hit the club. However, Issues also arise when you have the daily skype meetings with your boss- the mad rush to scrub the mask off your face, brush your hair and swap your hoodie for a slightly smarter top, as you try and maintain the image that you are not falling apart.

Whilst you can’t change a leopard’s spots, and in normal circumstances, I would look at people who get dressed to sit at home in confusion and slight disgust, it is clear that these unprecedented times call for unprecedented action. The #1 trend that is still all the rave is gorgeous, glowy, dewy skin. Glowy skin has zero flaws: it plumps up the skin whilst smoothing out fine lines and gives a healthy flatting look to the skin. Even the oily skins are switching to a glowy skincare routine…even though it doesn’t make sense (guilty).

Skincare

Start off with the base of your face, Elizabeth Arden Skin Illuminating Brightening Capsules £60. This is a night time serum, and it’s really going to help to brighten up your skin as you sleep; Your skin repairs itself at night when your recharging, so it’s super important to have a good serum to give your skin all the good nutrients to help it repair to its best ability.

Some gorgeous moisturisers that will give you that healthy skin glow: Laura Mercier Tinted Illuminating Moisturiser £35 is an award-winning tinted moisturiser with micro pearl pigments for that glowy goodness, not to mention SPF 30 (right?!) and easily brightens up the skin, effortlessly giving you that ‘barely there’ no make-up make-up effect. Glam Glow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturiser £36; Probably the dewy-est moisturiser you will find; it even doubles up as contouring and highlight with its other shades (which I don’t really get but sounds cool). It has this golden root technology which is supposed to instantly flood dull skin with hydration and moisture which leaves you will unreal bright skin. E.L.F Illuminating Moisturiser £9; Oh, E.L.F. I mean 9 quid?! AND it’s amazing! Not only is it vegan, has SPF 15 and leaves a pretty glow, but it actually works as a moisturiser as it has shea butter! You really cannot ask for more in life can you?

Make-Up

Let’s start this off with the iconic Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Balm £45. Okay, a little pricey but so worth it for this gorgeous extra bit of glow for underneath your make-up, or even alone! Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand £29 is a stunning glowing liquid high-blusher, this will add a healthy colour whilst not matting your skin down, keeping it nice and plump. The two best foundations for this trend has just got to be Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation £42 and the classic NARS Sheer Glow Foundation £33.50. To be perfectly honest, both foundations are a decent coverage and effortlessly blend out so seamlessly on your skin as well as adding to this healthy dewy look. You really cannot go wrong with either!

Last but most definitely not least…the #1 selling highlighter in the US: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Moonstone £30. I know this is a powder which typically won’t give you the shine like a cream or a liquid would but hear me out! With its velvety butter-like feel, this highlight is such a ‘soft focus’ highlight, meaning there are no big chunks of glitter making you feel like you can only wear it on a heavy night-time look. There are literally 14 freaking colours to this product…and it’s a highlight! Not to mention it even will slightly adjust to your skin tone anyway, there’s more of a chance to get one of these bad boys to match you better than a foundation! They do also sell minis for £16 if you want a little trial before splashing out on the full thing.

The biggest trend at the minute in the beauty world has just got to be beautiful and glowy skin, you know like in every single Charlotte Tilbury advert where all the models look like angels with beautiful glowy, well glowy everything! And you instantly want to do whatever it takes to look like that?! We’ve got you covered. Check out our Must-Haves for V Day below. Yo’ welcome.

Base

1). We’re going to start this at the very beginning with your primer; Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturiser & Primer £44.50 for 50ml. An absolute beauty this one is – it works as a moisturiser and primer and is so unbelievably nourishing on the skin, not to mention it will keep your make-up dewy and on your skin all day.

2). Next, layer on the iconic Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation £42, an oil-free, lightweight and so-silky-you-could-die foundation. Super buildable and applies seamless, no wonder this is the Artist’s Choice 10 years in a row!

3). A winner as always is YSL Touche Eclat High Coverage Concealer £26; So, this isn’t the regular one everyone has dribbled over for years, that one was actually marketed as just a highlighter whereas this one is predominantly a high coverage concealer. You still get the beautiful luminosity of the OG Touche, but also a weightless and long wear concealer… really struggling to find a flaw here.

4). If that wasn’t illuminating enough for you so far, I’ve only just begun! Add even more glow with the YSL Touche Eclat Shimmer Stick £27. Cream/liquid products are really going to make your cheeks extra dewy as they catch the light super easily. This stick highlight comes in 5 different shades, my fav being the gorgeous champagne ‘Light Gold’, I mean just go into a store and swatch this on your hand it genuinely might be the prettiest thing I have ever seen. (Prove me wrong, I dare you!!) I mean the actual product has all the good stuff: easy to blend, super creamy and a lightweight texture. TBH, if you like a shimmery bronzer, you can easily use a darker shade to add some warmth to your skin.

5). Totally changes the game: NARS Orgasm Liquid Blush £25. I mean NARS’ ‘Orgasm’ range is iconic, we all know and adore it…this is just in a lightweight liquid form so it’s just another staple to add to the dewy trend.

6). Lastly for the base, slap on that Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray £24 to make sure your base doesn’t move all day…whatever your activity is. I’ve heard great things about this setting spray being 100% sex-proof; you can be the judge of that.

Eyes and Lips

1). Keeping with this gorgeous healthy glowy skin trend, Charlotte Tilbury Bigger Brighter Eyes Palette ‘Exagger-Eyes’ £40. OK, I know you’re thinking it’s a little pricey for 4 shadows, but honey if you just knew what these bad boys were capable of! All you have to do is watch one of those CT adverts I was talking about. Nuff said. I mean they’re just everything: buttery, pigmented, the product itself is just such amazing quality it’s insane! You’ll thank me.

2). The current brow trend is messy, undone and natural; easy as pie, brush up your brows with the tinted Benefit Cosmetics Gimmie Brow+ £22.50 for a full and put together bro duo that takes literally seconds.

3). You need to keep them hooked on your eyes…the only way is to add a sultry liner on your waterline. A black liner on the waterline is so sexy it really draws you to the eyes; even I give myself a double-take when I whack some on. My fav is Estee Lauder Double Wear Waterproof Eyeliner ‘Noir’ £19, just glides on the eyes so easily and stays all day. Even great for contact wearers like myself.

4). To finish the eyes off, add some famous Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara £22 (TBH if your flying solo this V day, this mascara is supposedly better than sex, and if you have a partner, you’re going to need that waterproof one…win win). Volumizing without being too clumpy, and it deff won’t transfer on your lids or under eye.

5). Last but certainly not least, chuck on some Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick ‘Glowing Jen’ £28. This was actually named after Jennifer Aniston and I believe a portion of the money for this collection goes to charity. Moisturising and so pretty and glowy oh my goodness it’s insane.

All That Glitters

For the girl or guy who loves glitter, there is no better time to wear it than during the festive season. While all that glitters is not gold, our go-to glitter eye look is both…

1). Our favourite golden eye shadow is the Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow by Bobbi Brown- it is sheer and easy to apply, making your eyes sparkle whilst not being too OTT. Priced at £17 it’s a great single purchase to upgrade your NYE makeup look.

2). If you prefer more depth to your eyes and more of a shimmer than a shine, the Charlotte Tilbury Golden Goddess palette is a must-have. Though more of an investment (Priced at £40), the versatility of the shades in this palette mean that it can be applied lightly for a glowing every-day look, or used to deepen up a night-time eye, and it’s small and compact packaging means it’s perfect to throw in your bag for when you want to do both.

3). The Mac Gold Pigment (£16.50) is best for if you want to achieve more of an intense glitter- effect. The fine pigment is gorgeous true gold shade and can be layered to give an almost foil-like metallic look. It is also a beautiful highlighter when applied sparingly.

Midnight Kiss

NYE is the perfect occasion for a striking red lip… but really, when isn’t? A red lip is perfect for the last-minute outfit panic as it can dress-up any look and worn with all-black for some seriously Coco Chanel vibes. Our favourites are:

1). Of course, the iconic Coco Chanel in the shade ‘Coco’ (£31) – which is supposed to be a universally flattering colour.

2). Mac in the shade ‘Ruby Woo’ (£17.50) – another gorgeous ‘true red’ with a long-lasting matte finish.

3). Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips in ‘Patsy Red’ (£28) – a more chocolatey-red which works beautifully with deeper skin tones or for those who prefer a more muted red lip.

It’s cold and dark outside, and sometimes, dressing for the occasion means dressing for the season too. A dark and sultry look is the ultimately sexy understatement…so if the dark side is for you, here’s what you might need:

It isn’t just the sheer volume of presents that have to be purchased, but trying to get everyone something they actually want is my main issue with the whole gift buying palaver. And then you have the more specified concerns thrown in such as what in the world you get that distant relative you haven’t seen since you were 5. And finally, there is the biggest conundrum of it all. Secret Santa. Now, it’s obviously all well and good in your little friendship group, I’m talking about it on a larger scale.

I’m talking about the annual dreaded moment when someone in the office has the genius idea to do a huge communal Secret Santa, and every man and his dog’s names are all piled into that god-forsaken hat. Of course, fate decides to place the name of your boss in your palm. The anxiety immediately pulses through your body as you imagine the look of indifference on her face disguised with that counterfeit overly gracious smile as she unwraps the depressingly average bath bomb and pack of Lint Lindor balls combo.
