We’re Thinking Opera Gloves, Hats and Ballet Flats Aren’t Going Anywhere This New Year!

We have been keeping our eyes peeled for the big accessory trends coming our way in 2023. We have selected our favourites which we think will be a big hit in the new year. From new shoe trends which are perfect for Spring, to a handbag direction change, we have done the digging and gathered up the freshest trend predictions. And to make your life easier we have created a neat round up here for you to scan through for the ultimate 2023 inspiration.

Opera Gloves

A trend we will gladly applaud. It seems 2022 fashion is not ready to say goodbye to this trend and we are bringing them with us into the new year. We believe 2023 is the year where more is more, bigger is better, and therefore, the opera-length gloves are here to stay.

Naeem Khan’s SS 23 gave us a glimpse of their take on the trend and we are still seeing influencers and celebrities adoring the sophisticated style. Khloe Kardashian has been giving us dramatic looks featuring opera-style gloves and Raye even choosing to rock a pair for her 2023 tour poster.

Silver Accessories

Taking over accessories as well as apparel, we are going to be seeing a lot of silver next year. Silver glitters and metallics will be appearing on shoes, bags and jewelry. This is not a trend to miss out on, to say the least. Making a move from gold, runways for SS 23 were flooded with the colour and we can expect to see the shift very soon. Hailey Bieber and Bia are wearing super sparkly silver pieces, whereas Kim Petras and Mia Regan have opted for a metallic style. This upcoming colour obsession will give us choice and flexibility with our accessory choice.

Ballet Flats and Socks

Amazing for Spring, 2023 welcomes the return of the ballet flat. Gaining momentum through 2022 we see the ballet style shoe continue to popularize in the upcoming year. Miu Miu’s AW 22 featured the style giving way to the major trend. This light shoe will be your best friend for the Spring/Summer season and is a classic style which will be hard to part ways with as the seasons get colder. 2023’s metallic craze will definitely trickle across this trend, so expect shiny ballet flats to takeover. Look out for bow-embellished flats as well as these are sure to be trending.

Our queen of socks, Sav Hudson. Bow down and pop a pair on for this next year is going to go mad once again for socks paired with unlikely shoes. Heels and ballet flats paired with a pair of socks will be a common sight to see and we are not complaining.

Hats

Hats have been seen on lots of the SS 23 runways including Etro and Alberta Ferretti. We are especially taken by the bucket hat as it featured heavily in designer collections. We are expecting to see a lot of leather, fur and crochet styles coming into sight on the heads of fashion lovers. Perfect for so many reasons and a super fun accessory to add to your look, we are very excited for this one.

Like we said, hats in general will be super popular among next year’s best looks. Maya Jama has given us an early glimpse of a style we are vibing with and are excited to see this trend flourish in the new year.

Over The Top

Like we said bigger is going to be better in 2023. As seen in Jacquemus SS 23 show the accessories are going to be big. Massive impacts created through massive designs. Those enlarged sunflower earrings will not be easy to forget. Sami Miro is also jumping on this aesthetic with her layers of necklaces, body chains and collection of bracelets and rings. Also, for those of you that are eagle eyed you may have spotted that Miro’s jewelry is… silver… shock!

Steering away from the trend of miniature bags, designers have opted for greater styles for next year. Larger tote bags to fit whatever your heart desires into them will be super trendy. No need to worry about not fitting all you need into one of these oversized, spacious styles. SS 23 runway collections such as Bottega Venetta and Bally have also shown their intentions to give larger bags the spotlight within new collections and we can therefore expect to see these trending.

We hope we have given you some inspiration for the new year and you are exciting to experiment with these new styles and trends.
