The Fashionista Puppets Campaigning For A More Sustainable Industry

One of the most pressing issues continuously facing the fashion industry is the subject of sustainability and how to combat excess waste. Whilst the topic is undoubtedly important for a large number of reasons, many advertising campaigns that push to promote more sustainable ways of shopping such as thrifting can often feel more like gentle guilt trips rather than aiming to convince shoppers of all the positive sides of shopping more sustainably. Enter Vestiaire Collective.

Vestiaire Collective are an online marketplace that allows people to both buy and sell pre-owned luxury fashion pieces. The collective features over 300,000 pieces from brands including, but not limited to, Louis Vuitton, Isabel Marant and Celine, with each piece being authenticated by the collective’s in-house experts to ensure that no counterfeits slip through to sale. The combination of thrifting with luxury fashion pieces is an inspired move and shows that the two can co-exist well. The message and intent behind the collective is, of course, great but even better is their current campaign which features, wait for it… fashionista puppets!

The campaign, titled Long Live Fashion!, promotes buying used clothing using a cast of uniquely designed puppets all of which specialise in a specific type and style of clothing or accessories. Meet the fashionable bunch below, who are definitely giving Miss Piggy a run for her money in the Most Fashionable Puppet category.

Miss Classique

Looking like she’s stepped straight off the streets of Paris is Miss Classique. Specialising in all of those classic pieces that are wardrobe staples, think trench coats, turtlenecks and luxurious bags, Miss Classique is determined to give you a timeless wardrobe that will last a lifetime.

Filled with iconic one-time drops from years past, Drops’ section of the site is perfect for hunting for those elusive mystery collabs you’ve heard so much about over the years but have never been able to track down.

It’s cool to see a brand take such a unique approach to promoting their cause, especially when the cause is quite heavy but is marketed in such a fun, lighthearted way with loads of personality. Hopefully this unique approach to campaigning will inspire other brands across the industry to take more lighthearted approaches to combating serious causes. Who knows, maybe the future of the fashion industry rests in the hands of fabulous puppets?
