The red carpet has been rolled out and fashion’s biggest night out event, The MET Gala 2021 has arrived with the most sought-after celebs in the most anticipated and sensational outfits. With its theme ​​America: A Lexicon of Fashion, we picked out the 10 best looks from the event that wowed the crowd into amazement.

Billie Eilish

Earlier this year, Billie Eilish stupefied her fans with the Vogue cover debut. Transcending from that, Eilish who is also the co-chair of the MET gala graced the red carpet in layers of tulle and poise. Her custom tulle Oscar De la Renta gown is off-shouldered and is corseted to perfection seamlessly highlighting her curves. The sartorial peach strapless gown is inspired from an Old Hollywood-inspired bodice and descends into a blush ombré skirt and train.

Kim Kardashian

Here’s to Kim always keeping up with the Kardashian’s fashion statement and making heads turn. Arriving in an all-black Balenciaga bodysuit with a face covering, Kim Kardashian became the talk of the town. The ensemble created by Demna Gvasalia featured a long black with flared sleeves train and hands encased in gloves, contemplating a shadow look.

Gigi Hadidi

Gigi Hadid arrived in a strapless black and white Prada gown featuring a corseted variation and amped up the outfit with black leather opera gloves. Describing her MET gala look as an ‘ode to simple well-made fashion’, Gigi’s outfit featured a dramatic slit at the back paired with bejewelled kitten heels. Accentuating the style further, the outfit was accessorized with a diamond neckpiece and a barrette perfectly nestled in her auburn locks.

Jennifer Lopez

JLo channeled a modern version of the wild wild west in her custom Ralph Lauren outfit. The embroidered long western dress features a plunging neckline accentuated with a cowgirl leather belt lodged at her waist. The outfit highlights 25,000 design elements that took over 12 days of work involving 15 specialized embroiderers and a thigh-high slit that shows off Lopez’s toned legs.  The final touches to the rustic outfit are a shearling faux fur cape and cow-girl-inspired hat and accessories with a pair of silver heels.

Iman

Iman swept the crowd with her extravagance in a custom Harris Reed gown that possessed an infinite charm. The ensemble is a rich brocade jumpsuit surrounded by a feathered crinoline and a signature bespoke headpiece in collaboration with Vivienne lake. The jacquard brilliance is an inspiration from the ballroom culture in America’s golden age described as ‘romanticism gone nonbinary’.

Rita Ora

Rita Ora charmed the crowd in her crystal brilliance as she strutted down the MET Gala red carpet in a Prada outfit. The black Duchesse crop top is covered with faceted crystals and a satin black cape royally wound around her arms. The look is accessorized with diamond jewelleries from De Beers.

Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner exuded glamour as she arrived in a Givenchy gown at the MET Gala event. The outfit offers homage to Audrey Hepburn’s iconic role in My Fair Lady. The gown features cold shoulders with fringed jewelleries from the sleeves that transcend in sheer gloves. The gown is only accompanied by a crystal-studded choker that covers Jenner’s neck and entails an essence of subtly letting the gown speak for itself.

Lil Nas X

Attending his first MET Gala event, Lil Nas’s series of three outfits demanded attention and hyped the crowd into amazement. For his first outfit, Lil Nas served regality with an elaborate gold cape exaggerated at the shoulder and custom-designed by Donatella Versace herself. Post the cape attention, Lil Nas revealed an astounding gold armor suit followed by a black bodysuit ornated with crystals and Versace’s signature house print.

Dan Levy

Dan levy’s outfit set out to make an LGBTQIA+ statement in a blue Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson and Cartier costume. The collared shirt features a flamboyant gathered sleeve with a beautiful portrait of a couple kissing at the chest. The colors have been derived from different shades of blue with hints of pink and green. Paired with the stunning outfit is a stunning pair of gold buckled boots adorned with pastel roses and a subtle white pouch.

Lorde

Lorde sizzled the red carpet in an immaculate two-piece from Bode. The delicate satin outfit was embellished with colourful crystals and a single closure reflecting a bold look. The sensational outfit was completed with an immaculate crown that complimented the look and delivered regal vibes.

Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo stepped out onto the Met Gala red carpet in a daring catsuit. The sheer boldness of the Saint Laurent outfit captures a glamorous moment for Rodrigo’s MET debut. The suit flaunts feather detailing at the shoulder and high waisted brief emphasizing the oomph factor.  Ushering in an extra added glam the outfit is paired with chandelier earrings along with a pair of matching bracelets.

Normani

Normani took the gala by storm in her mustard yellow outfit. Everything about this Valentino ball gown is alluring from the exaggerated over-the-shoulder puffed sleeves to the plunging neckline and the otherworldly flare that is ever-so-charismatic. The look is accessorized with a stunning diamond and sapphire necklace that rests perfecting between the bold neckline.

Chloe & Halle Bailey

Another MET debut that set fire to the red carpet was the R&B sisters, Chloe and Halle Bailey. Chloe looked poised and charming in her white slit satin down while Halle crackled in a rose pink bodysuit with fringe detailings, both by Rodarte. While Chloe chose to pair the gown with a show stopper neckpiece Halle chose to keep it simple and let the bodysuit’s neckline do the talking.
