It’s Official! SZA’s Sophomore Album Is Coming Soon and Its Her ‘Most Unisex Project’ Yet

Since her first album contract in 2017, neo-soul sensation SZA has captivated over 33 million listeners on Spotify with her sensual R&B tracks. After the release of her ‘Ctrl’ album in 2017, adoring fans have been- unsurprisingly- hounding the star to bring us another dose of her tropical romantic tracks. If you’re among those of us counting down the days until we can blast SZA’s feel-good summer beats on repeat, the star has confirmed the wait for her sophomore album is almost over.

SZA is on a winning streak lately, having just won her first Grammy and creating the ‘I Hate You’ TikTok sound that sent her unofficial single to number one on Apple Music- the star’s success knows no limits. After winning her Grammy (which she bravely collected with a broken ankle, speaking to the star’s dedication) she admitted to Variety that her sophomore album is finally complete after 6 years in the making and is on its way. ‘I think it’s my most unisex album. I think it’s for everyone’, the star told Variety. While in the past the singer’s tracks like ‘Love Galore’ have focused heavily on the star’s haste towards her ex-partners (gearing toward a female-identifying audience), this album is set to widen the singer’s horizons and cater to a larger audience.

While we anticipate the album, SZA teased us last week with her feature on Summer Walker’s ‘No Love’ single and music video with fellow R&B sensation Cardi B. Remaining faithful to the singer’s empowering music genre, the song muses over how she wouldn’t allow herself to be hurt in a relationship twice. Equally as iconic as the trio’s talented singing were their fashion looks, the opening scene saw Cardi and SZA in a dream-like setting wearing medusa-style solid bralettes and cream goddess gowns. SZA’s most iconic look in the video was her sequined skirt and bralette co-ord that gave the star an ‘ice-queen’ aura. This feat has got us seriously excited for the fashion looks and singles in SZAs upcoming album!

Get SZAs Look:

While we eagerly await the music and iconic music video looks from SZAs sophomore album, we’ve mined the star’s social media to find her ultimate looks to recreate.

Taking inspiration from the trending dominatrix aesthetic (pioneered by stars like Julia Fox) SZA experimented with latex on latex for this dangerous look. Sporting a skin-tight bodysuit with lace-up trousers, this look is among SZA’s most bewitching. Elevating her look to mod-inspired perfection, the star accessorised minimally with a pair of Dr. Martins.

Playing with bold colour contrasts, SZA donned blue tech pants with a sheer shirt and orange jacket for a photoshoot.

For her feature in the US Cosmopolitan, the star re-emphasised her favour for matching leather looks in a green two-piece.

The leather frenzied look didn’t stop there! To accessorise SZA was styled in lengthy frayed boots that gave the look a retro twist.

In one of her most sultry looks, SZA attended the Billboard music awards wearing a cut-out dress with pointed red heels that added a sleek, femme- fatale energy to her look.

For a more playful attire, SZA posed on a Miami balcony in a fluffy bucket hat and a teddy fur bandeau. Not one to over-accessorize, the star kept it simple in clear strappy heels and a silver necklace.

Posing with friend Sukihana, SZA showed us how to sport smart/ casual with a sexy twist. Using a lengthy white trench coat to cover her retro-car print corset and cotton trousers, the star’s monochromatic look was simple, yet stunning.
