Start off by drawing an outer wing, before pulling it in whilst, most importantly, looking forwards. By drawing on top of your eye, a unique shape will form. Tackling the Appearance of Pores

If you find it particularly tedious to minimise the appearance of your pores when applying your base coat, why not take a leaf out of Manny’s book? First things first, prep your skin with a moisturiser of your choice. According to Manny, the essential product is Tarte’s Timeless Smoothing Primer. Apply a small amount onto your finger, then pat it into your pores. Next, take a finely milled translucent powder and gently re-coat your skin before applying a medium to full coverage foundation (Manny uses Too Faced’s Born This Way) with your fingertips. Grab a stippling brush and press the products forcefully, swiftly followed by a spritz of Milk’s Hydro Grip Setting Spray for a base that won’t budge. Finally, Manny recommends utilising a beauty blender to apply your setting powder once again, topped off with one final spritz of setting spray.

The Perfect Concealer

If you struggle with setting your under-eyes, here’s a trick to add to your daily beauty agenda. Apply your foundation before topping it off lightly with a medium shade of concealer. Using Morphe, Shayla blends the products with a beauty sponge and lightly brushes it with Makeup Forever’s staple setting powder. When halfway through her eyeshadow, she then uses a mini beauty blender to set under her eyes with a pressed, rather than loose, powder, particularly on the side of her nose. Shayla then dusts off the remainder of the product, grabs her mini sponge and pressed powder, and draws a sloped line from her outer corners in an upwards motion. She bakes for just a minute or two then, once again, dusts off any leftover product.

If you want to lengthen and maximise your lashes, this mascara hack, approved by Scortezz Beauty, is ideal. To add volume and fullness from the root of the lash, use the brush to roll away from the eye whilst simultaneously pushing down on the underside of your lashes. When you roll in from the side, you may find that your lashes look wonky. To correct this, brush upwards and apply as many coats as desired. Maddy’s Sharp-as-a-Knife Liner Look

It wouldn’t be Euphoria without Maddy’s knock-out glam. Maddy brought in the new year with a glittery eyeliner look. Davy described the look as ‘sharp as a knife to cut through whatever stands in her (maddy’s) way’, symbolising the fierce persona of the iconic Miss Perez.

Instagram MUA @kimi_jpg put her own creative spin on Maddy’s eye look. While she kept the ultra- super sharp liner and silver shadow, Kimi covered her inner and outer eyes with rhinestones, reminiscent of the glittering glam featured in the show’s first season.

Jules’ Mermaid Purse Look

Kat’s Two Toned Eye Look

Euphoria is renowned for bright and beautiful eye looks. Season two sees Barbara Ferreira’s character Kat continue this legacy, as she wore a cyan blue shimmer eyeshadow, layered beneath highlighter yellow eyeshadow by Euphoria make-up artist Alexandria French.

Content creator @kickiyangz said she loved all the looks in Euphoria, but chose to recreate Kat’s duo- toned eyes for her followers. Instead of layering the two colours the way French did, Kicki flaunted an all blue lid contrasted by a yellow shadow in her inner corners. She also added a winged liner and rhinestones to finish the look, which looked equally as stunning as Kat’s original look.

Lockdown treated us all to endless days of going make-up free and a chance to focus on our skincare needs. If you’re not quite ready to jump back into the time-consuming full face glam, these looks will pair beautifully with a face-mask and a 10-minute ‘get ready’ window. Especially, in the sweltering heat, it’s all about the eyes. So, here’s a list of 5 takes on iconic eye looks to refresh your post-lockdown make-up routine and to keep that creativity blossoming.

The Marilyn Wing

Marilyn’s iconic image is, of course, her red lipstick – but her classic winged liner is nothing to be underestimated. Her make-up artist, Allan “Whitey” Snyder, used Vaseline on her eyelids for a dewy effect, and to make her eyeshadow appear more pigmented. This created the perfect base for a thick swoop of liner and a half strip of lashes on her outer corners. Our retake of this is a bit simpler: keeping that classic winged liner, and the rest of the lid bare – bar some Vaseline for some extra shine if you wanted!

A Wash of Colour

Our next iconic look is as simple as it sounds – take a colour and sweep it evenly over the lid. For a more intense effect, you can choose a liquid eyeshadow, or use an eye primer. From a rosy glow to an intense matte copper wash – this look will only take moments to achieve but gives you an effortless look all day.

The Neutral Flick

For a softer take on the winged liner – swap out your black liquid liner for a neutral alternative. This can be achieved with an eyeliner – liquid, gel or pencil, a liquid eyeshadow, or even a liquid lipstick – just pop a bit on a brush and sweep out your wing. Elongating your lash line without any harsh tones, this is beautiful for a natural, glowing look – night or day!

Pop of Colour

For those days when you are truly pushed for time but don’t want to compromise on style – pop some colour into your inner corners. No brush necessary – just take some eyeshadow, matte or shimmery, on your finger and dab it into your inner corners. This will really make your eyes pop while staying subtle enough for every day – it’s only a small amount so you have the freedom to play around with different colours.

Colourful Eyeliner

Colourful eyeliner often falls to the bottom of make-up bags – but on top of a bare lid, a quick sweep across the lash line can add a playful edge to your look. Keeping it simple with the rest of the eye allows the focus to fall on the colour of the eyeliner – giving you the perfect opportunity to match it to your outfit – or your mask.

Prosthetic and special-effects products are used to adorn the face and the body. Feathers and crystals are used to morph the body from its human form and recreate it in statuesque or animal proportions. Makeup artists create ghostly or ghoulish looks that reference the horror film genre, and film noir is a fertile source used to create the femme fatale often seen in the pages of monthly fashion magazines. The market of this sub-industry is booming much larger and one with interests can always easily now reach directly to the websites like Etsy to shop their own look; or even consult the programmer and follow the tutorial guides for the fun. Creatives from camp themes to general queer styling have also begun to become handy with this trend and it will always remain a dear part of the performance and art industry.
