The gorgeous Mae showed her sophisticated side
in Paris this week, bringing a cat eye to the
catwalk done with expert precision using a pencil
to achieve a slightly softer, blurred effect.
Drawing the eye outward with a parallel waterline
flick created an elongated effect and with
prominent eyelashes, a Tim Burton-esque vibe is
achieved, the perfect deep look for autumn.
Natural, fluffy eyebrows in a cool, lighter shade
complement the look by playing a submissive role, not drawing attention from the dramatic eye. A deep brown lip is making us swoon and the blurred lip line, having the appearance of just being kissed, is a soft but daring touch.

Receiving the Alexander Echeverri treatment in Paris this week, the gorgeous Normani is bringing smoky back in expert cool toned, matte eye look. Grunge queen Gabbriette has been channelling Y2K in this subtle yet nostalgic look. Her thin brows are the centre of attention, minimally filled and accentuated with a pop of slightly shimmery highlighter around the brow bone. With little bronzer and blush in the look, the complexion is heavily dependent on a good quality, skin like foundation and concealer to emulate the natural skin while giving a sheer, luminous coverage. Gabbriette’s dark look

In a more dramatic variant of Gabbriette’s
flawless base, she explores how a bold smoky eye
is the perfect homage to Parisian fashion,
producing an air of sophistication around an
edgy, grunge look. The charcoal lid shade

For the Dior show at Paris this week, the iconic
Brenda was seen in a natural ‘woke up like this’
complexion with a gorgeous berry lip. The low-
coverage foundation gave her an airbrushed look
while remaining light and almost transparent on the
skin, acting as a subtle colour corrector on her
porcelain skin. The slightly pink shade around the
eyes, particularly on the water line, ties in with the
berry lip to give the look a sense of ‘completeness’
as the berry shade appears at the top and bottom of
the face creating a sense of unity. Complete with her full, fluff brows, we’re loving how she’s embracing her freckles and showing the world you don’t need layers of high coverage, removing uniqueness, to be beautiful.

Fashion Week. In completely flawless beat, we’re
stunned by the creaseless blending of the base which
seamlessly blends into eyeshadow. The lighter toned

]]> Ariana Grande has been striking headlines in the past week, with the announcement of her starring role in Wicked and ongoing place on The Voice’s judging panel. However, the Ari news that has held our attention the most is the release of her brand new beauty line ‘r.e.m. beauty’.  

Speaking on the name of the brand, Ariana said;

“I decided to name it r.e.m., because I feel like that song really encompasses a lot of my favourite parts of my sound sonically. And also, REM stands for rapid eye movement: focusing on dreams and focusing on the eyes, and eyes being kind of like our best way to articulate—better than you can with words sometimes.”

The line has been curated to empower and inspire consumers to become their true creative selves through outer-worldly products. r.e.m.’s dream land has further been explored through the brand’s packaging designs, with futuristic metallic silver casing that emulates sci-fi energy. 

Ariana’s cat eyes and super glossy lips have become a renowned feature of her look, therefore we are so excited to dive into the line’s first installment: ‘Chapter One; Ultraviolet’, which comes complete with 12 products specifically focussing on lip and eye products. 

With ‘Chapter One’ Ariana has served a nostalgic vibe, bringing back lip tingling gloss, a trend that was thriving during the 90s and 2000s (the decades of Ariana’s childhood and teen years). The ‘Utmost Importance Plumping Lip Gloss’ gives a clear, high latex shine whilst bringing a warm tingling sensation to plump up those lips and perfect your pout. The second gloss of the line ‘On Your Collar Plumping Gloss’ comes in 9 shades, whilst providing hydration from a blend of passionfruit and apricot oils, and giving the same plumped perfect pout as the other gloss in the range. 

“The glosses come in nine shades, and the names are all kind of nostalgic, like the ’90s: away messages, jelly sandals, and scrunchies. It was just like pulling for things that make us feel warm and nostalgic, because it makes me happy. This scent is, like, vanilla, minty, yummy, delicious scent, and it’s super plumping. I have to say it’s one of my favorite glosses I’ve ever seen in my life. The plump was very important to me, because I just remember being in middle school and having Lip Venom on.”

The range also comes with a matte lipstick (6 shades), and lip stain marker (4 shades) for anyone who isn’t a fan of the high shine gloss look. The ‘On Your Collar Matte Lipstick’ provides a creamy rich long lasting colour that stays in place throughout the day. The ‘Practically Permanent Lip Stain Marker’ offers a long-lasting natural finish colour, providing a non drying comfortable feel that stays on throughout the day.

The remaining 8 products are dedicated to the eyes, offering a line complete with lashes, eyeshadows, eyeliner and mascara. A highlight of the eye products is the liquid eyeshadows, coming in 21 shades to provide a shade for all to enjoy. The formulations are powerfully pigmented and easy to blend due to the creamy consistency. 

A staple of Ariana’s makeup look in the past few years has been her winged liner, and the eyeliner from r.e.m. hasn’t disappointed. The pen comes with a narrow tip, making it easier to execute a precise wing. 

“The at the borderline eyeliner marker is perfect for everything from a subtle, classic cat eye to a bolder, more graphic statement look. the fine tip is designed for maximum precision and detail.”

Stepping away from lips and eyes, Ariana also included Interstellar Pressed Powder Highlighters, coming in 10 different shades varying from a natural glow to intergalactic realness. 

It’s safe to say r.e.m. beauty’s first product drop has lived up to the hype, and with Ariana announcing that ‘Chapter 2’ will consist of foundations and concealers, we look forward to the future of Grande in the beauty industry.

1. Nailing It!

Everybody has found their nails looking worse for wear with the remnants of last week’s varnish scrapes left on when they’re rushing to a big event. The nightmare only worsens when you come to the realisation that you have run out of nail varnish remover. Not to fear, dot on a layer of nail varnish over the top of the nail scrapes and leave to soak for about 20 seconds. Wipe off the wet varnish with a cotton pad and you will find it brings off the under-layer along with it.

2. Lash Out!

Isn’t everyone just so sick of buying strip lashes over and over again for them to just be ruined after a few wears? Instead of throwing them in the bin, cut the strips into clusters and keep the cleaner, re-usable parts. Applying these clusters of lashes will create the perfect fluffy eyelash look or you can easily achieve the wispy cat eye look with longer clusters on the outer eyes.

3. Get The Glow

Trying to achieve that golden glowing look? Add this to the ‘Get-the-Glow’ rule book; never forget the ears. Adding a pop of highlight to your ears will help bring further structure to your face. This is mandatory for those hair-up days.

4. Powder Your Nose

OK, don’t panic with this one. Applying the correct blusher to your nose makes for a cute and rosy look. Yes, you read it correctly; blusher on the nose. Be sure to stay away from red and blue toned blushers and only use peachy ones with a light hand. I learnt this technique from Victoria’s Secret 2016 show and I promise, you’ll never look back.

5. Lush for Lashes

Vaseline is without a doubt the most notorious product in the world of make-up. Pushing your eyelashes and eyebrows upwards with some of this before bed will encourage hair growth in an upwards motion. Repeating this will help you to achieve longer lashes as well as the infamous fluffy eyebrow look in the long term.

6. Colour My Lips

Here we have another reason why Vaseline is an absolute staple product in any make-up kit. You can literally create any lipstick shade with a little eye shadow pigment mixed into it. Yes, any shade. Let your artistic mind go wild.

7. Lip Salvage

Do you find yourself spending copious amounts of your hard-earned money on expensive lipsticks for them to be gone in a few weeks? Don’t be fooled by the deceiving packaging of the product. Using a blunt knife, carefully stick it down into the bottom of the lipstick and scrape out the remnants. Pat these down into an empty jar. Normally you’ll find about 1/5 of the lipstick hiding down there. Thank me later.
