Starting off, we present the second collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama. The French label has once again partnered with the Japanese pop artist to bring a collection which embodies the very best of art and fashion. Releasing this month, the capsule collection comes ten years after their first venture. First showcasing the collaboration at their Cruise 2023 runway, we can expect to see classic LV handbags with Kusama’s infamous polka-dot prints. The iconic monogramed styles of the luxury fashion house will be reimagined in new ways with Kusama’s artistic influence. 

The whole collaboration is so playful. The website allows viewers to interact with the art as the mouse tool transforms into a paintbrush, which allows you to paint polka-dots across the screen. Talk about painting the town red, Louis Vuitton has painted the whole city of Tokyo in polka-dots. Tokyo Tower and Shiba Park are included in the collaborative revamp, and if that’s not able to gain hype, we don’t know what would. Pop-up art exhibitions have appeared in the city and digital billboards show the anticipated collaboration. The incredible idea of transforming the capital of the artist’s home, celebrates the partnership as the city becomes an outdoor playground of art and fashion. We can’t rave about it enough and if we were to describe it in one word, it would be fun! Keep your eyes peeled this month for the drop of the Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama collaboration.

Ganni x Ester Manas – Cool And Fierce Collide

Scandinavian sleek meets luxury inclusivity. This collaboration designed for Summer 23 has been kept quite quiet. We were able to receive a sneaky peak during the showing of Ester Manas’s ‘Sunset Body’ collection, and that was enough to have us hooked. This is a fashion partnership which we are very excited to view and are hoping to see more clues in the coming weeks as to what this collection will entail.

What do we know? We know Ganni creates minimalist, cool styles which push the boundaries of street style. We know Ester Manas focuses on body empowerment and inclusivity, producing fierce designs which embody their focus. Their ‘Sunset Body’ collection for beach and swimwear remained true to their brand ethos and featured sexy pieces in radiant colours of pinks, limes and oranges. So, we can imagine the collaboration will not neglect either brand voice and find strength together. As for the clothing, both brands are very different in their style and this is exciting to think about what they will produce. We do predict it will be an incredible partnership and benefit both parties involved.

ETRO’s latest collection is perfectly crafted for the summer, with a collection of summer staples including shorts, Cuban shirts, bucket hats and more adorned in intricate paisley prints and coloured in a trio of pink, green and yellow pastels. The incredibly diverse campaign features a number of creative short clips each having their own theme but all focusing on a unique colour changing aspect that highlights the colours of the collection. Billie Eilish x Nike

The Lola bag is the latest release from Burberry and stays true to the brands design roots whilst being modernized in a fitting and sophisticated way. With a surface of checked quilting and a serious amount of attitude to boot it would only be fitting for the brand to produce a campaign with an equal amount of attitude and they’ve definitely succeeded. Starring models including Bella Hadid, Jourdan Dunn and Ella Richards, the campaign features the stars in nude and brown coloured studios, mimicking the colours of the new bag, and riding on mechanical horses. The campaign has a distinct Burberry charm and, of course, features the brand’s iconic check motif sprinkled throughout, both on the clothes the models are wearing and in parts of the set design.

Not just a new campaign now, but a new brand all together! Hailey Bieber recently announced the launch of her brand-new skincare brand Rhode, set to launch in June of this year. Whilst no specific products have yet been announced Hailey has posted two promo shots to her Instagram, one of her gazing intimately into the camera and another more playful one of her posing with a, frankly delicious looking, glazed donut against her face. Of course, as would be expected, her skin is looking radiant and flawless in both shots with a silky-smooth glow radiating through both images. Coach have recently released a sweet campaign celebrating all the mothers of the world ready for Mother’s Day. The new collection from the brand features a variety of sleek clutch bags in colours including pastel mints and lilacs, a variety of purses coming in different sizes and styles including a clean white variant and a brown version with patterning and light blue accents, and printed sliders adorned with cute blue and white flowers. The campaign itself focuses on celebrating mothers first and foremost with the products taking somewhat of a backseat. Stars including Jennifer Lopez, Noah Beck, Tommy Dorfman and Jessica Kelly Basquiat are seen speaking about what their mothers mean to them and how they have shaped them into the people they are now. It is definitely one of the most heartwarming campaigns we have seen in quite a while.

Fendi are taking things back to the 70s with their latest retro inspired collection. The new campaign features a heavy emphasis on denim with everyday staples such as shirts, shorts and jackets being given oversized shapes, refreshing shades of colour and small yet sophisticated accents to give them a wonderful mix of elegance and quiet edge. Jewelry and bags are also an important part of the campaign with the brand emphasizing their significance in elevating an outfit and highlighting how important accessorizing can be. The campaign itself is a more simplistic one with models including Smilla Osswald, Sun Mizrahi and Metta Irebe posing wearing the items in the collection, but it does its job of highlighting the intricacies of the products and proudly puts them front and centre.

The new YSL Beauty campaign features a new bold rouge lipstick which promises full leather matte lips with a soft and luscious application. The rouge lipstick comes in a variety of subtly different shades ranging from darker variants to lighter ones meaning there is a shade for every occasion. The Batman star Zoë Kravitz is one of the main faces leading the campaign, wearing one of the new shades and dressed in a chic black tailored outfit which really makes the lipstick pop. Milan Fashion Week highlights from days 1,2,3 and 4

Fendi

Leading the way for the charge of models dressed head to toe in pastel Fendi attire was
Bella Hadid who was almost unrecognisable in glasses and a sheer peach dress under a
cropped fur coat- proving Vogues 1983 statement that ‘when you think Fendi have taken fur
as far as it can go think again’ still holds true.

Mint green and mink were the dominant hues of the collection as hard and soft materials
complemented one and other, sheer dresses were paired with the ‘classic’ Fendi attire like
beige blazers and sturdy belts in tweed materials (demonstrating how designer Kim Jones
mined Fendi’s archives for inspiration). When speaking about the collection to Vogue, Jones
stated the hard and soft contrast played to the contrasting attributes that make a woman
powerful.

Marco Rambaldi

Keeping fashion accessible for everyone was the message behind Italian designer
Rambaldi’s FW22 collection. Model’s looked stunning in Ramaldi’s pastel-hued
contemporary designs regardless of gender identity, age, background, or body size.

Vivacious and feminine; Rambaldi’s use of sheer material, hot pink silk, and love hearts
galore drew inspiration from the Y2K pop-punk revivals popular on social media platforms
like Tiktok. Model’s hair and make-up also reflected the styles of noughties icons like Britney
Spears as their faces were ablaze with blocky turquoise shadow and sleek straight hair.

Capasa Milano

Making his return to the fashion industry after 6 years retired, designer Ennio Capasa’s
timeless designs have made a showstopping return to the runway at Milan Fashion Week.
The ‘Before It Starts’ collection of clothing is the epitome of modern workwear; as Capasa
sent suits with an urban twist down the stone runway.

Using material like napped leather and velvet in eccentric bright colours, the designer
demonstrated that looking smart doesn’t mean dedicating to dull hues of grey and black.

Adding to the eccentric business wear, Capasa paired almost every outfit with the currently
trending cowboy style boot in extraterrestrial silver hues. The collection’s name hints this
outstanding show may only be the beginning of the Italian designer’s off-beat revival wear.

Diesel

Denim is often the word that springs to mind when thinking of the Italian label Diesel.
Creative Director Glenn Martens used the first half of his first runway show to live up to
Diesel’s legacy as a denim connoisseur with its FW22 collection cleverly cultivating modern
trends like the micro-mini skirt and trenchcoats in the rugged material. Whether skin-tight or
loose-fitting, dark blue or light grey, the material was used in every way imaginable to
cultivate a collection celebrating the material that marked a symbol of rebellion and youth
throughout the 20th century.

The show took an unexpected extraterrestrial turn as it neared its end, as models ditched
denim for futuristic metallic fibres in wacky hues of orange and blue. Diesel intended the
outlandish ideas behind the garments to celebrate that ‘ideas lead to the future’

Alberta Ferretti

Adding to the feminist energy behind this week’s shows, Alberta Ferreti celebrates women’s
ability to dress delicate while ‘acting tough’; portrayed by the storm of models including Mila
Vaneeten and Alyda Grace in soft and feminine metallic ballgowns juxtaposed by their fierce
and confident expressions.

Ferretti used eco fur to craft stunning coats and fur-trimmed boots, while high collars and
silk slip dresses added a sophisticated charm to the collection. Ferretti crafted a series of
garments fit for a modern goddess.

Emporio Armani

‘Taking glamour back to its roots’ was the aim behind Emporio Armani’s FW22 collection.
The line played to early 20th-century glamour, adopting bright colours and psychedelic prints
in womenswear to juxtapose the ‘mobster’ grey menswear which featured 1920s- style flat
caps and heavy overcoats reminiscent of BBC’s Peaky Blinders costumes.

Optical illusions were also a source of inspiration behind the Italian brand’s collection as the
trippy textiles and grey hues blurred into the show’s checkerboard print background. The
most unexpected element of the extensive collection came at the end as models broke the
chain of grey attire with pink satin ruffled dresses and sequined tees- playing to
contemporary connotations of ‘glamour’.

Blumarine

Their reputation as specialists in ultra- pink barbie attire and mini skirts makes Blumarine
one of the most ‘traditionally’ feminine brands in high fashion, but Blumarine’s FW22
collection looked to a different kind of feminine, one that is powerful and dangerous, yet,
seductive and soft.

With traditional femme fatale red and black shades dominating the ‘burst and seduce’
collection- Blumarine has evolved this season to bring us their most sultry collection yet.

Sheer cherry stockings, fur coats covering nothing but skin, and skirts that could pass as
belts confirmed that lingerie as outerwear is set to be major this winter. However, while the
fresh take on womenswear was key to this show, Nicola Brognano held on to Blumarine’s
staple pieces: tiny pink purses and sequined materials (which it wouldn’t be a Blumarine
collection without).

Del Core

The cocooned stage before a caterpillar burst into a fluorescent butterfly is the process that
inspired the extravagant Del Core show.

The Italian designer’s show began with achromatic minimal pantsuits- representing the
cocooned stage before a butterfly emerges- dancing down the minimal sky blue runway. The
outfits transformed gradually to incorporate more colour, with sleeves that spread like wings
and abstract cutouts- as skirts were detached below the knees.

The show’s finale was an explosion of glamour and finesse as fairy pink dresses and
extravagant headpieces graced the runway until the show went full circle and finished with a
minimal black dress- reflecting the styles from the show’s beginning.

Moschino

Inspired by Kubrick’s 2001: Space Odyssey, Moschino’s FW22 collection brought fantasy to
the forefront. Abstract garments reinvented day-to-day objects into luxury garments.
Lampshades were reimagined as hats and sofas became skirts.

The collection began with a modest (compared to the wacky later garments) ensemble of
sci-fi skirt suits, uniquely embellished with golden household items like cutlery and
doorknobs. As the show progressed, the garments became progressively zanier;
champagne buckets were carried as handbags and renaissance-style portraits posed as
dresses. Finishing the show was Moschino’s creative director, Jeremy Scott, emerging from
the runway wings in a bright red spacesuit; the collection was a product of our wildest
dreams.

Roberto Cavalli

Animal print had a renaissance at Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli’s Day 3 show.
From peacock print to zebra print, designer Fausto Puglisi covered every corner of the
jungle. Representing women’s ability to ‘break the cage of norms’ and express fashion
freedom, Puglisi inventively incorporated the roaring prints into skintight jumpsuits,
structured blazers, and sheer skirts- creating a sexy and flattering collection of eveningwear
that makes a fiercely feminine statement.

Prada

Prada’s ‘Ideology of Prada’ show celebrated life and living. Miuccia Prada crafted
traditionally masculine, boxy blazers and round neck sweaters on the female frame to blur
the lines of gendered clothing.

As the music shifted from a gentle symphony to heavy punk, models emerged down the
purple illuminated runway in barbie pink boxy leather jackets, sheer shirts featuring the
brand’s trademark triangle logo, and delicate fur trims- a feminine but futuristic ensemble.

The collection saw elements of almost every Prada collection produced to date, from sci-fi
style garments emphasising their ‘past meets future’ ethos to pieces representing their past
minimal moments, this collection was a true vision of Prada.

MaxMara

Organisation, Intentionality, and colour were the three elements of fashion that MaxMara’s
Creative Director Ian Griffiths highlighted through his FW22 collection. Deemed ‘modernist
magic’ the brand’s dedication to quality craftsmanship and wearable garments was clear
through the monochromatic looks.

In a bid to ‘make real clothes for real people’, Griffiths sent wearable red dresses, teddy fur
coats, and structured black blazers down the runway in matching hues; sticking to the
brand’s timeless chic and modern appeal.

Etro

Clashing prints and contrasting textures led the way on Etro’s runway. The Italian
Fashion House- renowned for 1980s paisley prints- combined leopard print with
pinstripes and velvet with sequins to create frenzied fashions which flowed on the
female form.

Celebrating high fashion, ETRO’s ‘Remix’ collection brought together all of the prints
and textiles that make couture fashion so exquisite. From metallics to animal print,
this collection combined inspiration from the land, sea, and sky to celebrate life and
fashion in all of its forms.

Gucci

Treating front-row A-listers like Rihanna and Jared Leto to the first glimpse of the
collaboration of our dreams; Adidas and Gucci debuted their unique partnership in
Gucci’s ‘Exquisite’ show.

In a carnival-like room, shrouded from floor to ceiling in mirrors, pink neon lights
created an air of mystery as celebrities long alleged to the brand took their seats.The show began with harmonic classical music as models trickled in, cementing the
lingerie as outerwear trend in lace stockings under fur-trimmed jackets. Gucci
Adidas’ menswear took inspiration from Parisian street style with electric blue berets
flaunting Adidas’ iconic three-stripe logo; combining the streetwear flair of Adidas
with Gucci’s high fashion silhouettes.

Peaceful symphonies blended to 80s Synthpop
tunes by Bronski Beat as models wearing metallic flight suits and stud-drenched
bags entered the runway with a new wave attitude to match the soundtrack they
walked to.

Act N.1

It makes sense that a brand inspired by infancy would produce a collection
celebrating glorious rebirth. With pregnant models and even babies adorning the
runway, Act N.1 produced a heartfelt maternal moment in Milan. Possibly inspired by
recent celeb maternity looks, the low-rise bump revealing co-ords drew comparisons
to Rihanna’s recent iconic pregnancy looks.

Designers Gassanoff and Lin also integrated their classic puffed polyester dresses
into the collection, the brand cultivated OTT gowns in a myriad of resplendent
shades like yellow and blue. Taking monochrome fashion to new heights, models at
the show had hair and face paint in the same shade as the bright garments they
wore. The collection served to remind us that a new generation of fashion is upon us.

Versace

Stealing the show in sultry red latex while radiating divine energy, the bewitching
Hadid sisters stormed the reflective runway with an attitude at Versace’s Milan show.

For her FW22 collection, Donatella Versace decided to bring sex, mystery, and
Versace glamour to Milan with an underwear as outerwear collection that was
simultaneously sultry and sleek.

The collection lived up to all of our expectations after Versace hinted at the show’s
revealing garments in an Instagram post, claiming a woman should ‘always leave
something to uncover’. The collection reiterated this message with slinky garments
that left just a little to the imagination like thigh-high boots, underwired corset-style
garments and slip dresses.

Palm Angels

When Francesco Ragazzi began his label in 2015, his focus was on bringing an
Italian interpretation of Californian skater culture to the high fashion scene. His FW22
show stayed faithful to this mission, featuring skater style ripped jeans, baggy tees,
and flame graphics with a luxury twist. Models wore baggy silhouettes contrasted by
high fashion silky fabrics to aid Ragazzis’ goal of filling the gap between couture and
street styles.

Philip Plein

Emerging from the flaming runway, models dressed in daringly dark eveningwear
that brought an intrepid punk attitude to Milan. German fashion designer Phillip Plein
created a punk rock inspired collection to produce garments that were unexpected
and bold.

Rarely diverging from the all-black memo of the collection, models strutted the
runway to loud techno music wearing garments that were versatile in shape and
style. With biker leather jackets followed by studded black dresses, the collection
brought 1960s biker attire to the 21st century.

Missoni

If there’s anything Missoni is known for it’s their knitwear and zigzag designs.
Incorporating the two, Missoni cultivated a collection that unexpectedly brought
knitwear- a textile traditionally associated with our grandparent’s wardrobe- to the
forefront of fashion week.

The zig-zag prints and knitted fabrics were used in an array of artful, eclectic ways.
From knee-length cardigans to psychedelic dresses, the collection was an ensembl
of colourful and enchanting craftsmanship.

Tod’s

Tod’s Day 4 show brought a beige revolution to Milan as nude garments brought a
simple and classic feel to the luxury collection. Stepping away from the chaotic
colour clashes eminent on most high fashion runways Tod’s Creative Director, Walter
Chiapponi, imagined looks that stood out for their minimal charm as models like Adut
Akesh graced the runway in bright white blouses and beige ponchos accessorised
minimally with structured purses and sturdy black belts.

Prada

Prada left casual wear in 2021 after owning Milan Fashion Week with a workwear meets sci-fi assemblage. Traditional trousers and trench coats were reinvisioned in shades of lime green and sky blue, alongside shell suits reminiscent of early 2000s space odyssey movies.

In a statement about the show, designer Miuccia Prada said her FW22 men’s collection aims to ‘make people feel important.’ And the Italian born designer didn’t disappoint. It would be impossible not to feel an air of authority in the shoulder-emphasising mahogany and black leather trench coats which marched Prada’s runway this week.

The fun, yet professional collection is a vision of post-pandemic style. Overdressing became a thing of the past after we wore nothing but joggers and jeans for two years. In turn, Prada’s FW22 men’s collection enables the wearer to look sophisticated yet striking everyday in overcoats and knitwear in an array of playful colours and styles.

Dolce and Gabbana

Among the zestful lilac lighting of the D&G runway emerged Machine Gun Kelly, who dropped his usual loud, punk attire for a white suit dripping in golden studs to open D&Gs FW22 Milano show. With his new fiance Megan Fox watching from the crowd, the fashion house couldn’t have found a star more fitting than Kelly to foretell the flamboyant menswear collection which was to follow.

Inspired by this generation’s individuality and flair, Dolce and Gabbana left their comfort zone behind with this collection, as they strived to represent the revolutionary style of Gen-Z. The Italian duo’s distinctive collection left it impossible to predict what would emerge from the runway wings next. With all-pink, ultra femme suits followed by monochromatic ski-style puffers styled with visers, to models wearing nothing but boxers and fur coats. It’s safe to say this show was a true reflection of the brand’s new ‘anything goes’ spirit.

Druv Kapoor

Kapoor’s new menswear collection branded ‘soul tech’ has been described by the designer as a representation of our true consciousness, destined to live eternally through technology. The futuristic collection, featuring overcoats covered in trippy prints and embroidered with quotes such as, ‘Linear Time is an Illusion’, is relevant in today’s digital age, in which our lives, jobs, and identities are becoming aligned to technology like never before.

After establishing his brand in 2013, Indian fashion designer Kapoor remarked that he wanted to move away from the notion that a male collection cannot incorporate femininity, with a goal to ‘break the archaic rules of gender’. Kapoor kept to his word during Milan this week, as his menswear presentation burst with fuchsia hats, floral bomber jackets, and pink embroidery. The brand incorporated masculine and feminine clothing features which would look amazing on anyone regardless of gender identity.

Dsquared2

The strings of LED lights which danced along the runway delivered a mystical mood to Dsquared2’s FW22 Milan menswear show. The Italian/Canadian brand conjured a collection which saw outdoor wear reinvisioned to become simultaneously practical and chic.

Dean and Dan Caten have evolved since their brand began with basic menswear like shirts and trousers. The brand is now characterised by its bold and eclectic styling. The twin brothers layered puffer gilets, suede fur-lined jackets, and turtlenecks in daring shades like orange and green this Milan fashion week- the perfect ensemble for stylish post- pandemic exploring.

The brothers are not afraid to combine clashing colours and prints into one look, which their FW22 collection demonstrates. From sequins with fur to tartan with stripes, no pairing is off- limits when it comes to Dsquared2.

Etro

The Italian fashion house, renowned for paisley prints and corduroy trousers, brought a relaxed and comfortable approach to high fashion in this week’s FW22 menswear show.

Creative director of Etro’s male collection, Kean Etro, sent roll-neck woolly jumpers with baggy vinyl pants, loose fleece co- ords evocative of pyjamas, and ankle- length paisley print coats which could pass as dressing gowns down the runway this week. Even the red and green paisley carpet stormed by Etro’s male models complemented the bold and wacky 1980s aesthetic which the brand proudly promotes.

Etro continued the playful, futuristic spirit of the season; flaunting cartoon-like exaggerated button sizes, ultra-shiny leather, and bold colour combinations like green and purple.

Fendi

A solid black runway illuminated by nothing but soft white lighting was the perfect precursor for Silvia Fendi’s minimal FW22 menswear collection. Fendi’s Milan show kissed goodbye to clashing patterns and welcomed the structured layering of rain coats, knee- length shorts, and waistcoats in a single shade or print. Neutral tones of beige, taupe, and grey dominated the collection, perfectly imitating the hues of the autumn months which the collection is prepared for.

The monochromatic moments were a highlight of Fendi’s menswear. Against the all-taupe and all- grey looks, stood out an all-burgundy ensemble which hinted at the season’s favour of leather. Leather belts, leather shorts, and leather bucket hats all featured in the passionate red hue and continued the brands legacy of producing ultimate leather creations.

Fendi also debuted re-imagined 1920s-style male knitwear. As male models on Fendi’s FW22 Milan catwalk sported knitted jumpers which revealed the chest through a cut-out design favoured heavily by designers this season, paired with matching knitted trousers in cream and grey.

Blue Marble

1980 met 2080 in Bluemarble’s FW22 men’s collection. While Anthony Alvarez’s Parisian brand is still in its infancy after being established in 2019, the designer was not afraid of making a bold mark on Milan Fashion Week. His Milan runway saw sequinned jeans, 80s-style Aztec prints, and scarfs in a multitude of vivid colours, perfect for staying warm but stylish in the autumn/winter months.

When speaking about his brand, Alvarez admitted he wants his clothing to represent and celebrate people’s differences, and his FW22 delivered on this promise. Whether you like to keep it classic with a beige trench, or live to be extra in a purple leopard print fleece, this collection has something for everyone.

The post Our Favourite Pieces From The Latest FENDI BEACHWEAR Summer 2021 Capsule Collection appeared first on Voir Fashion.

Fendi’s Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear presented a collection that reflects the world, nature, architecture, and symbols, that represent the essence of Rome and ultimately of the Roman fashion house. The show, or ode to Rome, was characterised by a pastel colour palette, historical and geographical connotations, and most importantly by an irreplaceable Fendi location – its headquarters at Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in Rome, otherwise known as the Square Colosseum.

The latter was our favourite element of the entire collection, the geography and meteorology of the headquarters of the Roman maison were present not only in concept but in various designs. For example, through the use of prints with a topographic view of Rome, highlighting the store’s location, patterned knits and denims with a bird’s eye view of the capital, and even camouflage motifs of its horizons. Innovative and fine, yet with a touch of tradition, could it get more Fendi?

“ This collection was very much inspired by the light that’s so physically present here in our headquarters” explained Silvia Venturini in a recent chat with Vogue.

The collection was told through a film directed by Nico Vascellari and accompanied by the sounds of Alessandro Cortini, completing the visual aesthetics of the show that in a delicate manner reminds us of a summer daydream with a rather spring-like appearance.

“It is almost like a bird’s eye view of Rome from here. The colours and the perspective are always changing – the soft palette of the Roman sky across the day is so beautiful and I wanted it to be a focal point of this collection. How you see things – and from where you see them – has never been more important.”

Every look of the collection is centred on fashion versatility, showcasing a play with designs, silhouettes, patterns, textures and most evidently colours. Everything about the SS22 Menswear collection relates to delicateness, inspired by the summer season and the need for practical, simple, yet eye-catching looks for it.

From the use of tactical pieces such as blazers and cropped jackets, materials like ultralight cashmere or the so-loved crochet, complemented by a choice of striking but refined colours like lime and lavender – every element of this show evokes the feelings and vision one relates to summer and Rome.

Fendi unveiled its new capsule collection for Spring/Summer 2021 last week, and here’s everything you need to know about it.

The new collection centres on the upcoming warmer days, and the carefree spirit we associate with these. But this time it’s a spirit that reminisces on the style trends of the 1970s… right up Voir’s alley and the current fashion agenda, don’t you think?

The collection represents the second-ever collaboration between the Italian fashion house and the rather experimental New-York based artist Sarah Coleman. You may know the artist for her deconstructive approach to fashion and her renowned projects for Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Fendi (a few of our all-time favourites). Her innovative approach brings a new, modern, and reconstructed life to the iconic, and sometimes monotonous, fashion houses. She plays with logos and motifs to rebrand her creations while remaining true to her artistic vision and the brand’s essence.

In 2020 Fendi’s Artistic Director, Silvia Venturini, invited Coleman for their first collaboration, resulting in three new versions of the timeless peekaboo bag. The three new versions were full of life and colour without taking away the “Fendiness” from them, but rather added a new layer to it with fluorescent beads, new colourways and glow-in-the-dark elements. And in addition to that, she was also in charge of revamping Fendi’s iconic Miami Design District boutique during Design boutique. So you can understand our excitement when finding out about their second collaboration for the new FF Vertigo Summer Capsule collection.

From what we know it’s a collection all about vibrance, noticeable by its eclectic blues and acid yellows… representative of the 70s after all. It’s a psychedelic take on Fendi’s style, honouring the history of the fashion house and its influence throughout the years while celebrating novelty through Coleman’s creative input.

The best part is that it doesn’t just look good, but feels good too. It encompasses both good looks and functionality by offering us utilitarian skirts, comfortable yet stylish bodysuits, bikinis (we can’t wait for those), and even co-ord activewear to get ready for the summer. But it doesn’t end there, as it is a collection also designed with the thought of freedom and adventure – which we associated both with Fendi and its Vertigo’s print, and Coleman’s previous work.

So we get to appreciate fun additions like campaign equipment, polaroid cameras and skateboards.

But the controversy around these decisions has today been put to rest – fashion enthusiasts showed up and designers delivered a much-needed dose of creativity and vigor on the COVID-safe runways.

The “La Famiglia” home movie gave us a preview of the new Fendi Spring 2021 collection, predicting a runway filled with earthly tones and shades of white and ivory. Beautiful imagery of key characteristics of the collection was featured in a video directed by Norbert Schoerner, before the runway show itself. A pair of pink textured sandals, an ivory blazer, and baby blue lace detailing were some of the extra clues we were given about the new collection.

All the hints from the “La Famiglia” home movie and Nobert Schoerner’s intro checked! The show was opened by sheer loose shirt dresses in shades of nude. The collection expanded further in different textures and we have seen everything from a tailored oversized blazer, to a re-imagined puffer jacket. In terms of the colour palette, Silvia Venturini Fendi has favoured white as the colour of Spring 2021 – from the décor of the runway, to the multitude of the pieces featured in a crisp white shade.

Accessories in bright, strong colours (orange, yellow and pink) were the centre of attention. Matched with pastel blue or off-white, the chromatic of these looks is not only cheerful but modern and high fashion – exactly what we would expect from a brand like Fendi.

Alberta Ferretti SS21

A classic of the Italian fashion scene, Alberta Ferretti has dipped into different textures and cuts, presenting a variate collection out of which the dresses are – by far – the biggest success. Cut-out or sheer, in baby blue, yellow or tie-dye green, the Alberta Ferretti dresses are truly luxurious.

Inspired by Sicily, the “Patchwork di Sicila” collection presented itself in a multitude of textures and fun patterns. For Dolce & Gabbana, Spring 2021 is full of fun and playfulness, reimagining the proportions and volumes of the Dolce & Gabbana ‘90s archive.

Opening the show with classical music and imagery of Sicily juxtaposed on patterns, the label created an emotional moment of belonging. Quickly followed by energetic music and vibrant garments, the tone of the show completely changes – happiness and pride shone through the collection.

For Spring 2021, Dolce & Gabbana have created sharp cuts, structured outerwear, and blazers in luxurious patchwork prints, ranging from metal mosaic to holographic gold and rustic. The designers have also heavily used denim for their unique patchwork prints, creating the jeans and miniskirts of the season. With these pieces, the label has demonstrated that artistry and craftsmanship can be achieved under any circumstances.

The accessory trends for this season have swept us off our feet, so here is a lowdown of our favorites that triumphed in the catwalk shows ready to feature in your fall wardrobes!

Every Autumn/Winter sparks that deja vu feeling when our hearts are stolen yet again by a pair of boots, and for this season we cannot resist the revamp of the classic wellie. No longer a boot longing for a muddy country walk, this style is now a highly versatile wardrobe addition suited to almost every daytime look. Prada embraced the trend with pastel shades and a warm lining for the winter, while Bottega Veneta opted for a more statement style with vibrant colour. Versace offered a range of wellie styles: the classic, the popular sock boot, and even a pair with heels!

We are not strangers to thigh high and baggy boots which appeared amidst the collections of Roksanda, Saint Laurent and Balmain. Roksanda’s coordinated approach was one of our favourites offering slouched boots that expanded around the leg and harmonised with the Brand’s voluminous collection.

If you cannot justify that new pair of boots, perhaps a new pair of heels will win your heart. The trends for this season are seeing that nostalgic return to the platform and kitten heel, and a mixture of both the pointed and square toe style. The kitten heel, as seen at Marc Jacobs paired with cute ankle socks, is proving a great option for a more subtle and comfortable look.

Bags form a crucial part of every outfit and are a staple accessory. If this season’s fringe trend caught your eye than an accompanying bag is sure to enhance the ensemble. Rochas shimmery fringed bag will compliment a special evening look, while Bottega Veneta’s oversized clutch with long fringing is a stylish staple. Geometric shaped bags were prominent on the catwalk along with the oversized versus the miniature. Fendi’s gigantic shopper was unmissable while Jacquemus’ miniature bag may have required a second look. Water bottle carriers were also a unique take on bags this season with Chloe, Coach and Marine Serre; a trendy option encouraging healthy hydration and bottle reuse.

A statement accessory never fails to punctuate a confident outfit, and for Autumn/Winter 2020 jewellry is going up a level – and it’s far from subtle. Chunky chains of both silver and gold were seen amongst earrings and necklaces. At Moschino, the chained look was taken further with an unexpected layering of pearls: a daring combination that inexplicably seemed to work!

Proving itself an unrelenting force this season, fringing even worked its way across jewellery; this time with a touch of extravagance that we cannot help but admire. Paco Rabanne is one of our favourites utilizing the look with beautiful headpieces dangling across the face with embellishments of silver and gold. Area similarly opted for an indulgent headpiece, with gleaming silver studs enveloping the head and neck.

For a season that so openly calls for extravagance, why not trade in your woolly winter warmers for a suave opera glove; a standout accessory that entwined its way across the Autumn/Winter collections. At Balmain, longline gloves were paired with striking gowns (think Marilyn Monroe ‘Diamonds are a girl’s best friend’ style). Fendi coalesced the trend with more casual attire, as seen with midi skirts and dresses. We love how the opera glove brings that touch of elegance to the season that is sure to brighten up a Winter’s day.

The Fit and flare dress is a dress made of lightweight material that is usually fit up until the upper waist and flares for the rest of the length of it. The fit and flare is the perfect dress for the summer breeze as the material and cut allow for maximum circulation, and the flow of the dress in the wind is something straight out of rom-com movie scene.
