The sweeping dress featured diamond-encrusted panels, mesh sides, and tulle ruffles. She matched the bedazzled straps with her sparkling diamond headpiece and stuck to the under-the-sea theme with some pearl earrings. 

AJ Odudu

The TV host looked stunning in this gold metallic bodice from Graham Cruz Studio. She paired it with a maxi skirt with a long slit to show off her gold strappy heels, and she tied everything together with gold jewellery and a black mani-pedi.

Simone Ashley

The Bridgestone actress, who plays one of Ariel’s sisters in the movie, wore this Victoria Beckham FW23 collection dress to the premiere. The nude dress featured many slits and mesh fabric, clearly taking notes from the naked dress trend. She paired it with platform silver heels, gold jewellery, and deep indigo eyeshadow. 

Stefflon Don

It was a family outing for Stefflon Don, who brought her nieces and sister to the blue carpet. Styled by our very own Jyoti, Steff and Shemara wore showstopping green and purple matching chiffon dresses from Millia London, with matching chunky crystal necklaces and earrings. 

Melissa McCarthy

Melissa McCarthy looked far from her supervillain character Ursula as she walked the red carpet in this hot pink ensemble. The Edwardianstyle maxi dress featured a high-neck collar, puffy sleeves, ruffles, and a train. She accessorised with diamonds from Gismondi and pink iridescent boots with a huge platform. 

Sienna King

Playing another of Ariel’s sisters, Sienna attended the premiere in this futuristic ruched dress from the Feben FW23 collection. She paired the dress with a dainty pearl necklace and wore her hair slicked back to let her outfit take the spotlight. 

Jourdan Dunn

Jourdan was channelling her inner mermaid with this blue knitted maxi dress, with the woven pattern resembling scales. The semi-transparent dress featured long sleeves, a high slit, and a cut-out neckline adorned with a pearl. She paired the dress with strappy heels and layered necklaces, and wore her hair in beachy waves. 

Montanna Brown

Love Island alum Montana attended the premiere with her fiancé, Mark O’Connor, showing off her baby bump in this Rotate Birger Christensen dress. The checkerboard dress featured large cutouts on her midriff and thigh, lace up details, and a bright red interior. She paired it with classic white heels and a white manicure to match. 

Sabrina Elba

Attending without her husband, Idris, Sabrina looked stunning in this khaki maxi dress from Saint Laurent. The dress featured spaghetti straps, ruching, and a plunging neckline. She opted for no necklace but added some shine with a large gold bangle and dramatic gold earrings, while keeping it low-key on her feet with some flat sandals. 

Nifè 

The Tiktok star took the mermaid theme to a whole new level, wearing this insane dress featuring a cream bandeau top, a green and blue puffy train, and ornate gemstone embroidery. The silky dress matched her signature blue hair and brows perfectly, and she accessorised with simple silver jewellery and diamanté heels.

Walt Disney Studios have just debuted the trailer and poster for the Emma Stone-led, live-action film Cruella -a 101 Dalmations spin-off filmset to be released May 26th. With a star studded cast alongside Stone, including Emma Thompson (Sense And Sensibility, Love Actually) and Paul Walter Hauser (I, Tonya, BlacKkKlansman), the feature film looks to be an interesting take on the Disney Villain.

The film is set in Punk Rock emblazoned London in the 1970s, where a mischievous young designer called Estella is trying to make a name for herself, while finding a home on the London streets, getting by with the help of two thieves that she befriends. When her bold and brutal fashion sense gets her noticed by the Baroness von Hellman (Thompson), a woman of horrifyingly high fashion, a series of events leads her to a dark and twisted transformation into the hellish, hound-hating Cruella De Vil.

From the gripping trailer, Cruella looks to be a visually arresting ode to Disney’s most furiously fashionable villain, with the shadowy hue of villain films before, remarkable costumes and a brilliant cast, director Craig Gillespie has us excited for it’s release.

Not to mention Queen Bey as being the world’s biggest superstar, but she has acted as a beacon of light and hope in supporting and empowering the black community. So it was no surprise that when she announced a new visual album titled Black Is King it was met with incredible excitement from fans across the internet. Beyoncé stated in an Instagram post the visual album was originally filmed as a companion piece to The Lion King: The Gift soundtrack and is meant to “celebrate the breadth and beauty of Black ancestry”.

Recently the official trailer was revealed by Disney+ (where it will be exclusively streaming) and it looks nothing short of stunning. The trailer also features cameos from the likes of Kelly Rowland, Jay-Z, Naomi Campbell and even Pharrell Williams. Although not much is known about the plot it was revealed in a press release that Black Is King will focus on a “tale about a young king’s transcendent journey through betrayal, love and self-identity”. It’s no doubt that this release will have a huge cultural impact given its relevancy to the racial injustice, unfortunately, happening all over the world right now.

In Addition, Beyoncé has even made sure that Black Is King will be available to stream in most countries within the continent of Africa by teaming up with MultiChoice Group’s M-Net and Canal+ Afrique. Beyoncé is no stranger to the medium of visual albums given that her 2016 masterpiece Lemonade was also premiered as a visual album on HBO. Lemonade was a huge stepping-stone in her career as it was one of the first times she openly expressed her political views and she hasn’t turned back since.

Black Is King will be arriving globally to stream via Disney+ on July 31st and is set to be one of the most important pieces of media released this year, created by one of the world’s biggest superstars.

The story of Alexander Hamilton is one of triumph over adversity during a time of slavery. As one of the founding fathers of America, this story is set to a time when America was still a colony of Britain. The story of Hamilton originally biographed by historian Ron Chernow was later adapted into a Broadway musical by Lin Manuel Miranda which premiered in 2015.

Lin Manuel Miranda’s modern interpretation of the life of Hamilton through music heavily inspired from HipHop, R&B, soul and pop and a cast of diverse actors, has been a contemporary depiction described as “America then, as told by America now”.

In the Lin Manuel Miranda adaptation of Hamilton, it tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant who manages to get into a prestigious college. It is then that he meets the man who is soon to become his nemesis Aaron burr and his other friends who are to join him in the fight against colonisation. We follow the journey of Hamilton’s life from youth to marriage his rise in politics as an immigrant in contrast to the story protagonist Aaron burr a scholar who also rises in politics but with shifting affiliations and convictions. Song by song we learn the events that occurred in both of their lives during the founding of America.

The show became a Broadway smash hit winning 11 Tony awards and nominations in several other categories. As it gained acclaim across the world and a huge fan base the show toured in theatres across the globe. If you didn’t get to see the show in theatres the first time or you would like to re-watch it with the original cast, Hamilton is coming to your to TV screen this July 3rd on Disney+

Now more than ever, the Hamilton story has never been more inspiring or relevant. At a time when youth need to stand up and fight for change in what they believe in be it climate change or racial and gender equality, the Hamilton story is a light on the power of youth to make a change.

Friday night saw the new gothic collaboration on full display at the Coach boutique on Prince Street. This is the third collaboration between Coach and Disney titled “A Dark Fairy Tale” a theme that offers a new dark and romantic twist.

Coach creative director Stuart Vevers said: “It was fun to explore the darker side of these stories and mix Disney’s nostalgic charm with Coach’s creativity to bring my memories from these fairy tales to life […] The Disney spirit truly reinforces the new youthful perspective we are bringing to luxury at Coach.”

To embrace the youthful feel of the collection and keeping on trend, sportswear is highly featured with embellished poisonous apples and skulls to be paired with bum bags and letterman jackets.

Disney x Coach: A Dark Fairy Tale was launched on Thursday at Coach Soho, New York. The collection is available globally today! Monday 14th May in store and online.
