The song sees the duo singing on the concept of having a do-over with a partner from the past, listing the things they would do differently. They offer an insight into how being in love can complicate the fun side of a relationship, and in hindsight you may be left wishing you had taken a more light hearted approach with less feelings involved. 

The songs’ hook “All lust, it will be no lovin’ you” immediately gets across the intended message, showing that in the future the pair would rather have sexual satisfaction than a complicated romance. 

This concept of complications in love runs through Summer’s album, with her further explaining the records meaning in an exclusive interview with Apple Music; 

“Take this opportunity to learn from my mistakes. You don’t have to guess if something is love. Love is shown through actions. Stop making excuses for people who don’t show up for you. Don’t ignore the red flags. And don’t think you have to stay somewhere ’cause you can’t find better — you can and you will. Don’t settle for less — you don’t deserve it and neither does your family.”

With her debut album, Summer proves she is amongst the most exciting artists to recently emerge, smashing records for the biggest R&B debut album ever. ‘Still Over It’ consists of 20 tracks, with a star studded lineup of collaborators including; City Girls, Ari Lennox, Pharrell Williams, Ciara and Cardi B. We can’t wait to see what the next step is for this thrilling era, and where the success of her debut album will take Summer Walker.

Now, Battifarano is stepping into the limelight, releasing her own brand ‘Tony 1923’. Named after her late father and the year he was born, the brand will specialise in Unisex Luxe Streetwear. At the heart of the line is Melissa’s Italian-American heritage, with designs centered around the sassy slogan ‘Italians Do It Better’. 

As every piece from the line is Unisex, Melissa had her friends model for the line’s campaign photos, further pushing the brands inclusive motive. The campaign includes a robe coat inspired by mob boss Vincent Gigante (Vinny the Chin), which has been modelled by both sexes, giving us all the inspiration for an androgynous look. 

The line shows off Melissa’s extensive knowledge of lingerie and streetwear, merging her expertise to produce a line which offers sex appeal in comfort. This is particularly apparent with the line’s fishnet crotchless bodysuit, which was designed with the intent to simplify going to the toilet whilst wearing a bodysuit (we’ve all been there!). The line’s leather crop top also comes with a sewn in wired bra, providing support whilst looking slick and sexy. 

For the knitwear side of the line, Battifarano let her technical expertise do the talking; with an LBD designed not to scrunch or gape in any areas, engineered to cinch the waist and accentuate the natural curve of your body, whilst having interesting features such as the tight hood to set the design apart from your usual LBDs. 

‘Tony 1923’ has had a distinct debut, with a clear message of having an accessible line with Italian-American culture at the heart of the brand, honouring Melissa’s late father. We are excited to see what is next from Melissa Battifarano and her brand as she steps into her own spotlight.

Throughout the 13 tracks, we hear Joy explore various topics, such as; immigration, break-ups, generational trauma, tory neighbourhoods and mental health. These stories are met with the entrancing sound of Neo-Soul, a genre which embraces influences from Jazz, Funk, R&B and much more. Crookes has a sound reminiscent of the great Amy Winehouse with a similar London songwriter style, yet blends her own Bagladeshi-Irish heritage within her music, setting her apart from comparisons.

The album’s lead single ‘Feet Don’t Fail Me Now’ saw Crookes embracing her heritage in the music video, stunning in a Saree and Bangladeshi accessories. She did this whilst incorporating the culture of growing up in London into her lyrics, in an empowering account to inspire listeners to stand their ground and fight for what they believe in. 

One of the most personal tracks on the album ‘Unlearn you’ sends a poignant message on the effects of sexual violence, and how when faced with such a difficult situation, you can be left wishing you could reject that someone hurt you in such an inhumane way.

Speaking on the song, Joy said; 

“I don’t know how I managed to get that one out. I had the lyric, ‘unlearn you from my body’, and I was interested in how, when you break up with someone, you still have phrases that you share and so you have to unlearn them. 

Then when I started to write the melody, I realised what I’m really trying to talk about is unlearning something that happened to me that was completely out of my control.

It’s something that happens to so many men and women. You’re in a situation where someone else takes control of your body, your mind, your everything and how do you survive? How do you, more importantly, find a way to unlearn that from your body and not blame your body and not blame yourself for something as scary as that.”

It’s clear that Crookes poured her heart into this album, with many songs covering personal topics that must have been hard to sing. However, there are uplifting moments, such as ‘When You Were Mine’, which takes us on the eventful ride of Joy discovering her first love was actually gay. She says that a celebration of their love is at the heart of the track, intertwined with the slight bit of jealousy she felt seeing her ex move into a different relationship, made perfectly clear within the lyrics; 

“I’m shook but you look good together

I had my hesitation, but I just can’t hate him”. 

‘Skin’ is an album which sets an endearing soulfulness alight, projected through personal and thought provoking topics that take the listener on a rollercoaster of bittersweet emotions, as is life.

Launching yesterday with Capsule 1, the line contains three core makeup products. The Velvet Blur Matte Lip Balm (available in 12 shades) has a lightweight texture and strong pigmentation to leave you with a beautiful matt finish, then the Sun Flush All Over Tint is a multipurpose serum that can be applied to the high points of the face for a glowy complexion and lastly, the Lip Trace Liner which is a pillowy formula that plumps the lips with jojoba oil. All products are vegan and cruelty-free.

“We created the line not to add color to your life, but to add an efficient product that’s high quality, high curation, that’s just going to serve humanity by making your life easier. And that’s essentially what the tagline of the line is – minimal optimal – because it’s the minimal amount of effort with a maximum amount of output. It’s the story of instant makeup. And that’s where the future of makeup is,” said Haze.

Previous to the Capsule 1 launch, the duos soft landing into the world of beauty started with a range of holographic and neon-colored decals for your eyes – an easy and simple way to achieve an edgy futuristic look. With the launch of the fall-winter 21/22 collection, Naza Yousefi, designer of the accessory brand YUZEFI, makes her debut in the world of ready-to-wear with her first clothing line, talking about, “The desire for a new beginning lies within all of us. A need for normality, but that offers something fresh, proactive and serious”. The simplicity of the silhouettes and their essentiality are a natural continuation of the style that the brand, based in London, had initially chosen for their bags.

Versatility and functionality are also elements that from the world of accessories have been translated into the world of clothing, in order to create a fil rouge and preserve the identity of Yuzefi. So a series of laces and drawstrings have become the tool to make the garments transformable and to create an aesthetic uniformity without solutions of continuity. Another distinguishing feature is sustainability, which results both in the use of recycled and certified vegan leather, and in the recovery of surplus fabrics, such as linen and wool, which, once again, apply the same approach to garments as the one reserved for accessories.

The suits that YUZEFI presented for the fall-winter 2021 2022 collection are characterized by cropped blazers decorated with long laces that allow you to tie panels to lengthen their silhouette, combined with soft-cut trousers, both in a black version and in sandy shades. The skirts are wallet-shaped, tied at the waist and also worn over the trousers as an overcoat; they are then worn with jackets, always cropped, but with a structure that integrates the rigid cups of a bustier. The “wrap” construction is also chosen for the shirts in pastel tones, such as wisteria, and there are proposals with large vegan leather pants. The dresses are mini with a tank top cut and with small knots that stop the straps, or even longer version, again in vegan leather, combined with trousers and then used as a long tunic, for an elegant look monochrome and “mono-material”.

Whilst this is only the start of this new legacy, the brand is surely unlocking new horizons for the company, and allowing a new, younger audience to reach and identify themselves within the bold Ferrari lifestyle. To celebrate its debut and extension to the Italian powerhouse, Ferrari took a palatial property in Maranello, known as the hometown of the brand, and included a truly spectacular ultra-tech factory, flashy automobiles and giving birth to a new high-design concept flagship store.
