With sustainability at the heart, (Di)vision’s brand ethos is creating from what already is. Creative sourcing of material from upcycling, reconstructing, and redesigning forms the pillars of the brand and adequately sets them apart from the crowd.

After their debut in 2018 with their custom workwear jackets, Wick stays true to the fairy grunge allure, frequently incorporating creative zippers into their pieces to produce an urban maximalist feel. These fun, edgy looks are very denim and cargo heavy staying true to their ‘downtown’ style, but Wick has also chosen to explore lighter tones and lace detailing, leaning into a subtly demure undertone to their edgy streetwear.

OpéraSPORT

Founded in 2019 by long-time friends Stephanie Gundelach and Awa Malina Stelter, OpéraSPORT forms the perfect bridge between Paris and Copenhagen to expertly marry timeless elegance and sleek activewear.

Working to fight over-production and waste, OpéraSPORT’s production only covers recycled or organic fabrics to yield a production volume that expertly reflects the demand.

At Copenhagen 2024, OpéraSPORT have achieved a beautiful blend of two iconic cities, encompassing Paris’ sophisticated and feminine demeanour with Copenhagen’s athletic and practical style, giving each look that perfect je ne sais quoi. OpéraSPORT’s use of silk in particular expertly utilises the material’s natural shine to blend an association between high-class fabrics and Lycra active wear.

Sinéad O’Dwyer

Winner of the 2024 Zalando Visionary Award, Sinéad O’Dwyer is a forerunner in the integration of the feminine and the tough to expertly curate an elegant yet almost industrial design.

However, its O’Dwyer’s unique take on the human body itself that sets her apart from the crowd. “Diverse bodies are at the core of their design process, from research and development to the final product. This passion and care for the human body in all its iterations and their radical approach to design, sampling and production is what makes them unique” reads the brochure for SS25 at Copenhagen Fashion Week. O’Dwyer manages to almost make the clothes secondary to the model, instead showcasing the beauty of the human form first and foremost in a celebration of natural curves and beauty Aphrodite would be proud of.

To do this, the pieces are subtle and carefully designed to not overwhelm the model, but instead accentuate form and colour by focussing on earth tones with highlights of a deep blue denim in a gorgeous homage to the Earth.  

Berner Kühl

Frederik Berner Kühl is a fantastic up-and-coming talent diving into a traditional Scandi aesthetic with an elevated, modern approach that reads as sophisticated and cultured. Striving to convey his vision in ultimate materiality, Kühl focuses on grey-scale tones to allow his explorational textures and fabrics to speak for themselves, driving the pieces.

Creating menswear with a signature Danish sensibility, his SS25 runway showcased practical coats and jackets for next spring and summer, among expert layering to elude style and functionality.

Han Kjøbenhavn

Founded in 2008, style veteran Han Kjøbenhavn are still making waves through their innovative designs and daring shape work.

Focusing on shape in their work, the vision of Han Kjøbenhavn is bold and captivating silhouettes that captivate the audience and demand attention. Utilising dark and subdued colours not only provides an overarching grunge-feel to the collection, but really allows the avant-garde materials and structure to sing. However, these cutting-edge looks still remain reminiscent of the iconic Copenhagen, birthplace of Han Kjøbenhavn, with uncompromising craftmanship and attention to subtle details that the Danish do so well.

The exaggeration of the human form through the pieces, most notably around the neck and shoulders, promote a regal, powerful undertone to their runway and creates a natural yet untouchable feel.

Baum Und Pferdgarten

Leading Danish fashion house Baum Und Pferdgarten have been perfecting their practice since 1999. Where runway meets downtown, Baum Und Pferdgarten have mastered the art of inclusivity by designing captivating pieces that can be worn by anyone in an innovating streetwear collective.

An athletic undertone runs through their SS25 collection through the incorporation of stripes, jerseys, football accessories, and baseball caps in an effortless nod to a vintage style while remaining rooted in the contemporary. Through structures tailoring and bold colours, Baum Und Pferdgarten’s SS25 runway is reminiscent of American country club aesthetics, combining timeless style with luxury sportwear to elude a high-class yet effortless and relaxed beauty.

Han Kjobenhavn

Han Kjobenhavn is one designer we definitely have our eyes on, and we’re not the only ones. Their collection recently was named ‘Silence’, and a lot of inspiration was taken from the founders football obsession. The brand was founded in 2008 and the show was said to have a nostalgic feel to it for a lot of the Copenhagen locals in attendance. Whist their new collection is more wearable that some of their other work, it’s still very Avant-Garde.

Oversized bombers, baggy trousers and so many mixes of tones and textures. Designer Wikkelsø Davidsen went on record saying “If you see my work in the past couple years, it’s silhouettes and sculpture-like expressions,” he says. “It’s about bringing those broad and artistic strokes into an everyday language.” His design style reminds us a lot of Yeezy in its prime, with the neutral colours and oversized silhoutes.

Saks Potts

Saks Potts blew it out the park with their runway as usual. Barbara Potts and Catherine founded the brand around 10 years ago and in celebration of that, they wanted to ensure their show was intimate and felt on brand – therefore they hosted it in one of their stores with a smaller guestlist – for fashion week – of 150 people.

The entire collection was totally 00’s Indie Sleaze inspired and we are obsessed. “For us it’s quite nostalgic because when we went to high school, it was exactly that vibe,” co-founder Barbara Potts stated. It had a bohemian vibe to it whist maintaining the key vibrant colours that we all remember from the early 2000’s. Afghan style coats, leather trousers, low slung waists and frilly feminine tops were some of our favourite parts of the collection.

Rotate

Rotate closed Copenhagen Fashion Week on the 1^st of February and they definitely left a lasting impression. They covered the walls in draped red fabric – almost red carpet like. On top of this there were countless showstopping Red looks, which was obviously such a prominent trend last Autumn/Winter.

Designer Thora Valdimars noted “We kind of made it into our more sexy Rotate universe, with a nod to the ’50s,”. The show brought a sexy feminine revamp to 50’s silhouettes and the 50’s vibe has become something they really Identify with. Sheer knits, sequins, and denim, which was just entering mainstream women’s fashion at the time. The brand sought a lot of inspiration from 50’s icon Elizabeth Taylor and the end of the show included 8 wedding dressed to represent Elizbeth Taylors 8 marriages, which is pretty iconic if you ask us. We also saw loads of roses which have been surfacing on all different runways but Rotate supersized them to take up the entire chest.

Paolina Russo

Paolina Russo hosted her sophomore collection staged on a runway designed to look water coloured alongside holographic structures.  The looks were very Y2K kidcore with a big splash of Grunge.  It was a mix of colour explosion and natural hues.

The collection has been name “Cul-de-sac” which the designer explained that the collection was to give the vibe of “suburban boredom and coming-of-age rituals.” The brand has been incredibly inclusive since its founding which we are absolutely here for so hosted a range of models to represent the diversity in the population.

Gestuz

Gestuz created a beautiful, dreamy party girl collection. They were quoted saying it was “made for the female gaze” which we second 100%. Micro shorts, sheer lace, pinstripes, sequins and everything else that we love. It’s a total NYC cool girl collection and we want one of everything.

We are particularly obsessed with the monochromatic red looks that broke up the entourage of sophisticated greys, whites and blacks and were so on trend.

The designers catching our eye at this year’s fashion week are Aeron Studio and (di)vision, as they have brought the highlights of the week so far and visionary looks.

Aeron Studio

Aeron Studio known for their contemporary knitwear, showcased in an empty warehouse as beautifully eerie music echoed through the space. A diverse cast of models were used in their show which we were hyped to see, as body inclusion and model diversity should not be treated as a trend.

We were impressed with the set of looks which spiralled out of the Aeron Studio collection on Tuesday. Their key takes on AW23 fashion included high necklines, oversized leather handbags and loose, slouchy fits. No surprise that the bulk of their collection was made up of their infamous knitwear styles, which not only is perfect for a Nordic AW but also one here in the UK. Leather appeared in the form of shirts, blazers and trousers which were styled together to create contemporary ensembles.

Neutral colours dominated their runway and conventional seasonal shades such as brown and auburn were prevalent. However, a bright tangerine fit made its way down the runway and was definitely one of the eye-catchers of the collection. Most looks featured multiple layers and were kept to a strict monochromatic palette, with the exception of a few patterned pieces popping up.

(di)vision

We know we can all relate to the next-day mess of a late rager being a dreaded thought. However, in (di)vision’s punk party show that is exactly what we got, and for some reason we were living for the atmosphere- maybe because we didn’t have to clean it up? The youthful brand set up their show in what can only be described as a party carcass. Guests were seated at wine-stained clothed tables where banquets of food were already half-eaten. Candles were almost burnt down to their wick ends and a sense of chaotic charm lingered in the air.

Imperfections and irregularities are fully celebrated in this collection which is an amazing breath of fresh air. The deadstock materials which made up the series of 32 looks meant the designer siblings behind the visions could not be perfectionists as odd quantities of stock were at their disposal. An incredible mirage of inexact creations is therefore the result of sustainable design tactics.

Key factors of their neo-grunge AW23 collection were low-waist lines, distressed patchwork denims and leather biker styles. Decade influences from the nineties and noughties were very evident- return of leg and arm warmers, accessorizing with belts and hoodies. Their signature grunge took a gorpcore twist with all looks (mostly slouchy fits) being styled with sneakers. The subculture’s favourite, plaid, prevailed in certain looks while hats-aviator, cap, beanie- and hoods made a strong appearance. Zips and rips took hold of trousers, skirts and jackets which works for the season as well as the brand. A dash of mustard stood out on the runway and the occasional sheer piece caught our eyes.

No wonder everyone is talking about this stunt. The destructive show closer was a captivating moment of genius from the brand. As the last model to walk the runway, Sarah Dahl, -also the partner of Simon Wick- sat at one of the many table wrecks she grabbed the attention of the room by tapping her spoon against her glass. Standing up, in traditional toasting manner, she waited until all eyes were fixed on her. In a dramatic fashion she strutted fiercely away from the table and it became clear the table cloth which covered her table, was in fact, her dress’ train. As food, drink and cutlery chaotically leapt on to the floor, spectators applauded in admiration.

A Roege Hove

A. Roege Hove is known for its extravagant yet effortless silhouettes as they seek to highlight the craftmanship and artistic process of clothes making in their designs. The AW23 show, however, took this one step further as the first model took to the runway without her outfit. We then had the pleasure of witnessing the delicate craftmanship that lies behind each look as we saw the designer’s trademark gauze knitwear take form in front of our eyes.

The collection featured the usual sheer looks that we associate with the designer, but this collection debuted her first works with wool. The chunkier knits offered a whole new texture to the collection, something that proved to be a key element within this show. The heavier knits were seen alongside feathers, ribbed details and open knits to create a multidimensional collection that strayed away from her usual looks whilst staying true to the theme of the brand.

Stine Goya

If there is one designer that you should keep your eye on it is Stine Goya. The women-led brand has been going from strength to strength as of late and their latest collection “Freeze” was a wintery dream. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s Snow Queen, the collection looked to celebrate the winter season. While a winter-inspired show might bring images of practical puffer jackets and ski-suits to mind, Stine Goya took these looks and added a fairy-tale twist.

A sea of silvers and blues took to the catwalk, channelling the colours that we associate most with the season. The icy tones were paired with furry accessories such as hats, coats and boots creating a Narnia-esque depiction of a magical winter. If this collection achieved one thing, it firmly solidified the trend of silver and metallics that are set to take over from the Valentino PP Pink domination.

While some of the looks channelled the regal aspects of the Snow Queen, the collection as a whole felt very inspired by ski culture. The fur miniskirts and leg warmers, metallic trousers and sheer dresses felt like the perfect for a ‘cool-girl takes Aprés ski’ look. The combination of ski-culture and the Hans Christian Andersen fairy-tale came together to create the perfect depiction of a snowy winter.

Rotate

This Copenhagen Fashion Week Rotate provided us with every party look we could ever need. The black vinyl catwalk was quickly brought to life by an array of sequins and sparkles and even a special appearance from the former Real Housewife Lisa Rinna.

Rotate is a brand that celebrates the outrageously extravagant and while this collection offered a more muted colour palette than usual, it was no exception. Apart from the occasional fuchsia, the colour palette leaned more on the neutral side, but in the form of leopard print and sparkles in order to stay true to the brand’s love of the over-the-top. However, the biggest surprise came at the end of the show where the final six looks were all black and completely monochromatic. This is not to say that the looks were without the usual Rotate extravagance though, the brand simply utilised textures and silhouettes to make up for the lack of colour.

Gestuz

Gestuz’ autumn/winter 2023 show was built around an unexpected muse. The ‘Black Widow’ was central to the collection as creative director Sanne Sehestedt explored the notions of masculinity and femininity through the sultry designs. The push and pull of the traditional gender norms of fashion worked towards the re-imagined notion of sexiness that Gestuz was exploring. The pairing of traditionally female aspects of fashion such as lace and sparkles with the structure of a blazer or dark leather worked against the usual assumptions tied to ‘masculine’ or ‘feminine’ dress codes.

The binary oppositions did not stop there. The colour palette of the collection was predominantly dark, as one would expect from the ‘Black Widow’ theme, but it was not without a vibrant pop of colour. Denim was a predominant theme in the collection, alongside cream, yellow and brown, adding some lighter tones to contrast the dark. There was even a vibrant red dress in a look that felt absent of all darkness.

Overall, the collection appeared to celebrate femininity in all its forms, whether it be light or dark, ‘masculine’ or ‘feminine’, the show featured it all. The autumn/winter collection was an appreciation of binaries and the spaces that can exist in-between them.

The best of luxury Italian fashion’s AW 23 men’s collections will be showcasing as of tomorrow. Returning fashion giants Gucci, Giorgio Armani and Prada, will reveal their latest designs and we are hyped. From the 13^th through to the 17^th of January the streets of Milan will be crawling with fashionistas, models and designers. The city will be transformed as the beginning of the fashion calendar kicks off. Let’s go! 

What will be happening? Milan Men’s Fashion Week this year is going to be one to remember as a lot of changes within creative teams have happened since the most previous SS 23 shows. For example, this will be a monumental show for Gucci as this is their first time showcasing a collection since creative director, Alessandro Michele, stepped down. This leaves exciting opportunities for the brand to reinvent their ways, as Marco Bizzarri will be running the show, quite literally. Milan will also host to Andrea Guerra as the CEO of Prada for the first time. Miuccia Prada and husband Patrizio Bertelli stepped down as the co-CEO’s late last year which was marked as an end of an era for the fashion house. So, it is a fair assumption to say this year’s Milan Men’s is definitely going to an iconic fashion week for more than one reason.   

Fashion houses which have us on our toes for their upcoming debuts during Milan Fashion Week are Etro and Giorgio Armani. Marco De Vincenzo will be showing his first menswear with Etro and expectations are high. The direction for his AW 23 is unpredictable and that means anticipation is building everywhere. Giorgio Armani will be showcasing their ideas for AW 23 menswear during their shows on Monday the 16^th of January. A brand with a rich heritage, they are no stranger to Milan Fashion Week, however always manage to make a statement with their shows. We expect this year will be no different and are excited to see their creative vision on the future of fashion.

Copenhagen is Calling, and we are Picking Up on the First Ring 

31^st of Jan- 3^rd of Feb 

Scandanavian styles have been trending for years and they have graciously earned their way into the limelight, which we are buzzed about. At the end of this month your socials will be dominated with Scandi fits which will be strutting down the runways of Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW). We are super excited to see the emerging Danish designers showcase their work as well as well-known Scandi brands such as Ganni. 29 shows will showcase the best Denmark fashion has to offer, along with featured talks and events. So, be sure to save the dates, as you will not want to miss the trends coming our way on the 31^st of January to the 3^rd of February.  

This is the first season which has set sustainability standards which brands participating in the week must meet. A minimum of 18 requirements must be met by the brands who are showcasing. This means CPHFW is putting sustainability at the heart of their shows this year. This is a huge step in the fashion industry as CPHFW are leading the way for positive global change regarding the future of fashion weeks. Requirements include brands producing a zero-waste status from show production and there must be no use of single-use packaging. People are equally as important in brand sustainability as the planet, which is why brands must have good working conditions and fair pay throughout their supply chains, as well as a diverse and equal hiring system.  

So, the question remains, who are these brands who are going above and beyond with their sustainability measures? Or most importantly, who are we most buzzed for? 

(di)vision 

“Create from what already is”- a sustainable mantra for a sustainable brand. This young brand, and we mean young, was developed only back in 2018 by siblings Nanna and Simon Wick. Despite their short brand lifetime, they are seriously killing it and are returning again this year to showcase their AW 23 designs at CPHFW. Forward thinking and genderless, this is a brand we are looking forward to seeing at CPHFW as well as future events. 

Ganni 

No surprise that we are hella hyped for Ganni to show off what they have been working on. The label which we love for their cool designs and diversity will have their returning spot on the final day of the fashion packed week. Not only will they be on the final day, they are the closing show which will wrap up the whole ensemble of runways… no pressure there! We have faith…after all, it’s Ganni we are talking about.  

A.Roege Hove 

The conceptual knitwear brand which describes itself as ‘effortless and extravagant’, a concept which may seem contradictory, or contrasting at the least. This brand is right up our street and the collection they will be showing for AW 23 at CPHFW is unpredictable. As an experimental and visionary brand, A.Roege Hove, will surely give us a lot to think about post-show. Excited to see their take on the fashion for the upcoming season.  

There is no hiding our excitement for the next few weeks. A jampacked January of trends and a fashion filled February is ahead of us, and it all kicks off tomorrow!

Stylist and queen of bright colours Emili Sindlev rocked the Barbiecore trend as she looked pretty in pink in a shirt and midi skirt co-ord with a green Birkin bag to add an extra pop of colour.

Dressed for comfort, she also wore a bright pink shirt with a white tank and tie-dye cargo pants with a Manu Atelier green bag – very y2k.

Looking sleek on the streets, model Elba strutted her stuff in an A. Roege Hove purple high-neck knitted tank top and maxi skirt with tie detailing paired with heeled sandals and shades.

Not afraid to switch it up, model Vivian Hoorn wore a Munthe blue leather-look skirt as a top styled with baggy jeans, a Bottega Veneta metallic green mini Jodie bag and Tilly Sveaas gold jewellery. This look is clean, sleek yet daring and we love it!

Fashionista Nina Sandbech nailed a whole host of looks at Fashion Week. Embracing pops of colour, she wore a cropped long sleeve blue jumper with a fishnet pencil skirt, green shades and Kandee heeled mules – mermaid chic?

Getting creative, she also showcased a homemade double-denim look to the Holzweiler show consisting of a maxi skirt, tube top and cropped jacket adorned with denim roses. A* for effort!

Shining in the streets, fashionista Maria Wos looked like a bad b**** in an Oval Square metallic shirt styled with black cargo pants, Läst trainers, a black Núnoo crossbody bag and H&M shades – y2k approved.

Fashion babe Thora Valdimars nailed this flower-power grunge look in a Rotate mini skirt and bralette co-ord with knee-high biker boots and a green Marsèll baguette bag completed with a sky-high plaited ponytail and shades.

This look from fashion blogger Miki has us green with envy as she wore a Dries Van Noten lime green top, Mugler striped trousers, Balenciaga mules and a Fendi mini bag.

Ready for business, model Justine Soranzo worked the Danish streets in a Gestuz red vinyl suit paired with black heeled mules and a Little Liffner mini bag.

Blogger Katya Tolstova embraced the Scandinavian summer sun in a satin yellow set from MVP Wardrobe, pink strappy heels from Alexandre Birman and a metallic clutch from Rebecca Minkoff.

A. Roege Hove

A. Roege Hove is a new talent brand to keep an eye on. The conceptual knitwear brand challenges traditions with a modern artistic approach to effortless yet extravagant silhouettes. Founded by Amalie Røge Hove in 2019, the designer has a master’s in textile design and years of experience as a knitwear designer for Danish brands. The unique designs are experimental with techniques, challenging our perception of traditional knitwear.

Set in a grand high white-walled building, the collection was edgy and daring (not what you would expect from knitwear) with sheer exposing fabrics, raw edges and cropped styles – very y2k.

(di)vision

(di)vision is a multi-disciplinary brand for sustainable fashion design and production, only using high-quality deadstock fabrics discarded from exclusive designers and existing materials. Founded by siblings Nanna & Simon Wick, the unisex collections take inspiration from multifunctional DIY aesthetics.

With the show set in woodland, the collection had a laid-back grunge theme with patchwork mini dresses, oversized leather-look bomber jackets, mini tank tops and hippy shirts that looked effortlessly cool and wearable.

Latimmier

Latimmier is a new ready-to-wear label by rising Finnish fashion talent Ervin Latimer. The collections are designed for those who want to express and challenge the expectations of masculinity with their clothing.

The show featured an array of oversized shirts and jackets, pinstripes, straight-lined tailored silhouettes and baggy trousers to produce a modern twist on the grunge look.

Gestuz

Founded in 2008 by Sanne Sehested, Gestuz creates designs inspired by vintage looks and modern rock and roll women, aiming to emphasise the strength of females. The collection had a fresh energetic feel with the vibrant colour palette showcasing oversized jackets, sleek midi dresses and micro skirts – another collection which screamed y2k.

The Garment

The Garment has a seasonless and minimalistic approach to create timeless quality garments and was founded in 2020 by Sophia Roe and Charlotte Eskildsen. The collection is classic, simplistic and chic, featuring traditional tailored silhouettes, sophisticated waistcoats, blouses, blazers and trousers as well as mini skirts and flowy longline dresses in a neutral palette to create a well-rounded wardrobe.

Ræburn

Zalando Sustainability Award Finalist, Ræburn uses a distinct utilitarian theme to create sustainable street-style designs. This collection was edgy, cool and fresh with a white, black and grey colour palette, largely consisting of casualwear such as jackets, t-shirts, shorts and trousers as well as an eye-catching parachute dress.

Aeron

Aeron’s brand focus is to produce timeless pieces for a modern women’s day-to-day wardrobe, and this collection was just that. Consisting of longline dresses, tailored blazers and trousers with a neutral colour scheme which enhanced the female form, the collection was minimalist and extremely wearable.

Rabens Saloner

Drawing inspiration from people, nature, and cultures from all over the world, Rabens Saloner created a fun vibrant yet wearable collection. Featuring everything from exaggerated skirts to mini tube dresses to sophisticated maxi dresses to tailored co-ords, this was a show to catch your eye.

P.L.N.

New talent P.L.N. made a rebellious display with a collection inspired by punk culture, goth and religious attire to create an edgy post-apocalyptic atmosphere. With an earth-toned colour scheme, the collection featured rips, raw edges, grungy leather trousers and jackets as well as mini skirts and figure-hugging tops.

When it came to the surrounding streets of the designated venues, a series of attendees and their personal glam proved equally compelling. From sleek buns to slim headbands, below, you’ll find a handful of our favourite street looks at this month’s Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Dressed from head to toe in Andri Unnarson, Benjamin’s stylish counterpart looked equally sophisticated in her sage green pants and square sunglasses. With two toned hair and chunky gold earrings, we love this seamless blend between subtlety and playfulness.

From the classic black headband to chunky pearl necklaces, crochet bags and sleek bob haircuts, fashion week called for the re-emergence of summer’s timeless favourites. There were middle partings, gel-coated side-sweeps, and loose, effortlessly natural waves – ideal for the casual elegance that is ever present in and amongst Copenhagen’s bustling fashion scene.

If there’s one accessory that was set to make an appearance this August, it was sunglasses. By drawing attention to the face, we couldn’t help but take note of the plethora of hairstyles at play, from 60s inspired fringes, to the trendy, spiky bun that our favourite supermodels have been sporting as of late.

Whilst both laid-back and sporty, this gorgeous pair rocked denim in all its glory, maintaining natural makeup looks and simplistic hair-dos. Whether a long plait or thin baby bangs, when it comes to beauty, a little goes a long way.

There were suits and there were loafers, but there were solid silver chains and mullets too! Short, classic manicures appeared an inevitable favourite, but after all, we wouldn’t expect anything less in classy Copenhagen.

Slick-back buns took centre-stage on the streets of fashion week this year, often paired with a neutral, nude lip and gold hoop earrings. Appearing effortlessly chic in her tailored suit and small framed sunglasses, Emilie Billington was the star of the show.

This Summer the digital adaptations for Fashion Week have been truly remarkable. Despite the challenges faced by the Industry, the shows have gone ahead digitally in high spirit and it has been a success! From London in June to Milan in July, Monday 9th August marked Copenhagen’s turn with a three-day whirlwind of fashion talent. While all these elements have started to disappear with the new generation of small early 2000s brands becoming internationally recognized labels, the Spring/Summer 2021 collections are truly cementing the new Scandinavian look: youthful, playful, cheerful. Here is a rundown of Copenhagen’s key Spring/Summer 2021 looks.

Part One: The Best of Copenhagen Fashion Week

Malaikaraiss

Malaikaraiss SS21 Lookbook

Malaikaraiss made a strong debut at Copenhagen offering a combined physical and digital approach with a film and pop-up event. The collection “United in Diversity” is aligned with the classy yet casual attire of the Brand. Sharp suit jackets are effortlessly paired with slouchy trousers and chunky trainers; slip dresses prove an elegant option for a day or evening affair.

Bright and pastel colors dominate the collection and an unmissable dash of playful print correlates with an uplifting theme. At the event’s online Q&A the Designer shared her belief that you are “most powerful when you are just being yourself” with the film enhancing these values with the spoken words “unity is love” and “love holds everything together”.

Designers Remix

Designers Remix SS21

Designers Remix stood out on an opening day with their playful and experimental approach to dresses and outerwear. A trench style coat incorporates four sleeves (two from the arms and two from the hips) while another takes the oversized to the extreme with wide shoulders and exaggerated sleeves. The dresses are arguably the most captivating and expanded from the hip in a tent-like fashion. Captioned with phrases including “I used to be

a pillow” and “I used to be a couch” the Brand highlights their sustainable source of materials.

Mark Kenly Domino Tan

Mark Kenly SS21

Mark Kenly Domino Tan displays a digital stream of his Spring/Summer 2021 catwalk with a collection that encapsulates the timeless woman with a modern twist. The palette is kept simply limited to white, cream, beige and tan tones. Classic silhouettes are modernized; tailored suits are fastened by an inside diagonal strap, oversized-sleeved shirts obscure the hands and the cape style permeates across tops or stands out as a layered element. The longevity of Mark Kenley Domino Tan’s designs is what makes them a forever and sustainable favourite.

7 Days Active

7 Days Active SS21

Since the label’s launch in 2019, this year’s display at Copenhagen Fashion Week marks the third major collection of 7 Days Active; a distinctive Brand that brings a trendy touch to Sportswear. The reliable cycle short is frequently spotted across the Womenswear. Paired with either a sports bra, t-shirt, baggy or sleeveless sweatshirt and finally a long coat they are a wardrobe must-have. Bright bursts of color are prominent throughout the entire collection bringing that hint of motivational energy to anyone of an active lifestyle.

Sorene Le Schmidt

Sorene Le Schmidt SS21

A Brand widely recognized on Denmark’s red carpet; we were anticipatory of Sorene Le Schmidt’s collection release at 7.00 pm. Their press release describes how “old school tailoring” is the basis of the collection along with a “rockabilly” edge; an unexpected pairing of classic, rock, and country vibes that works wonders. The collection flaunted an incredibly cool vibe especially with the hip-hop music that accompanied the catwalk show. For womenswear, a sense of femininity is present with mini dresses, blazer dresses, and ruffled shapes. Key additions across the entire collection are calf-length socks and simple white or black shoes.

Part Two: The Best of Copenhagen Fashion Week

Samsøe & Samsøe

Samsøe & Samsøe SS21

Day two commenced with a digital film and physical showroom by international Brand Samsøe & Samsøe. There is a strong focus on global diversity and the multicultural dynamic of their base in Nørrebro inspired a collection close to home. The collection’s geometric prints reference various countries and the overall earthy colour palette resonates globally. Denim tailored suits, oversized knitted sweater vests, and printed flare trousers evoke a street style edge while the more staple pieces capture Scandinavian chic.

Nynne

Nynne SS21

Nynne is another House that seeks to empower women through everyday pieces. Unlike Goya’s colourful approach, Nynne is more minimal; focusing on practical design with charming detailing. The palette is subtle with mainly mono-colored looks accessorized with gold belts, a necklace or statement earrings. We love how Nynne has combined practicality with that touch of glamour! The paired back film is the perfect opportunity to appreciate the beautiful subtleties of this collection.

Remain Birger Christensen

Remain Birger Christensen

We have seen various playful approaches to tailoring this year at Copenhagen but what makes them so special is their differing sources of inspiration. At Remain, this aesthetic is inspired by 60’s icon Françoise Hardy; a French Singer/Songwriter recognised for the feminity she infused into pop culture. In their press release, the House notes how pleated waist detailing adds a sense of feminity while combinations of sportswear and classy coats and jackets subvert the formality of tailoring. The setting for the collection’s display is captivating; set in a quiet courtyard with mirrors that glisten in the light. An accompanying film is also provided.

Rodebjer

Rodebjer SS21

Rodebjer have been passionate about their purpose from day one, showing support towards both women and the environment. The courageous woman unafraid to be an individual is a

timeless inspiration for the Brand. Alongside these overarching themes, the collection is inspired by the “healing energy of creativity and finding great meaning in wisdom”.

In support of their sustainable ethos, a timeless consideration is evident in Rodebjer’s designs. Minimal looks of block colour are great examples of interchangeable wardrobe must-haves while the artistically inspired prints make an exciting contrast! The looks were shown via a digital film of Images.

Baum and Pfertgarten

Baum and Pfertgarten SS21

Baum and Pfertgarten are all about having fun, bringing that uplifting touch of individuality and personal expression to Fashion. With a penchant for unpredictable juxtapositions, their Spring/Summer 2021 collection plays with bold contrasts. ‘Clashing’ pairings paradoxically work; a geometric printed slip layered over a polka blouse and a salmon-pink lace top paired with mustard-colored shorts are two of our favourites looks. Their pieces are exciting and call for individual experimentation! The leather-look made a strong appearance across midi-skirts, trousers, longline shorts, and jackets. A leather headband or retro sunglasses were the final flourishes.

Part Three: The Best of Copenhagen Fashion Week

HOPE

HOPE SS21

The day kick-started with HOPE. For HOPE, a collection needs to have a meaning and remain loyal to high-quality craftsmanship. In their Spring/Summer 2021 collection, creative director Frida Bard has made functionality the most important aspect of the collection. The playfulness of the garments is hidden in the oversized silhouettes which can be adjusted to all body types in an almost androgynous manner. HOPE distanced themselves from the common perception of Summer and invite instead the viewer to create their own reality.

Custommade

Custommade SS21

The sole purpose of Custommade is to create affordable luxury clothing and a world of fantasy, where the feminine can be free of any limitations A combination between the French and Italian styles, Custommade did not disappoint when showcasing their Spring/Summer 2021 collection. The patterns of the clothing are paired with unordinary accessories such as oversized pearls and pointy high heels decorated with oversized bows, which make the looks loud and bold. The almost princess-like look of the “muses” has us crave these luxurious pieces which are indulging but then what is better than feeling a little bit spoiled?

Helmstedt

Helmstedt SS21

As usual, the bubbly and unconventional Emilie Helmstedt gave us a concept that uplifted our moods. In King’s New Square the designer exhibited her heart-shaped bright pink sculptures, surrounded by bales of hay that made us long and hope for an outdoorsy 2021 Summer.

The sculpture that the designer created will be moved in different parts of Copenhagen to uphold the message of unity and help people stick together through these uncertain times.

Around the décor, models dressed in playful patterns and various textures made the passer-byes stop. Shades of baby blue and pink, re-imagined floral prints, and new shapes could be spotted on the oversized, flowy garments which are more about comfort than high fashion.

Marimekko

Marimekko SS21

Founded in 1951, Marimekko has always been about bold prints and colours. The longevity of the brand mixed with their playful ethos makes Marimekko a Scandinavian fashion powerhouse. With a print library containing 3500 prints, Marimekko manages to recreate old garments for the modern woman. Set in the brand’s in-house printing factory, the show was filled with vibrant prints and colours, as well as new patterns combining Maija Isola prints (the poppy, the stones, the seagull) with Marimekko’s founder, Armi Ratia’s, quotes. The collection was created in collaboration with award-winning designers Antti Kekki and Matts Bjolin.

Rixo

For Spring/Summer 2021 Rixo has gingham inspired dresses to offer, as well as an abundance of floral printed flowy maxi dresses and tops. What makes these pieces so amazing is their versatility: they are fit for a city break but also for the countryside or a holiday abroad. The simplicity of the silhouettes gets us thinking that we might even be able to wear these pieces during the colder months: thanks to the well-known Scandinavian layering fashion technique.

Copenhagen Fashion Week also impressed us with the selection of live interviews available. By far, our favorite was the conversation between American Danish actor, Amelia Hoy, and founder of FIIRI Agency, Mona Mohammed Ali. FIIRI is the first black-owned, all-inclusive modeling agency in Scandinavia. Check out the interview here
