Burberry has undergone a rebranding. The iconic British luxury brand has released their latest campaign, which happens to be the first campaign released under the direction of new chief creative officer, Daniel Lee. Burberry are taking a bold step in the modernisation of their brand due to its rich heritage and associated prestigious nature. However, this campaign has shown us they are not sacrificing the historic brand ties to British culture, nor their own brand identity. 

The brand has done well to express to us that this is the new them and changes will be occurring. All past Instagram imagery has been removed, leaving no traces of the past within their social media presence. Their logo has also been updated too, re-enforcing this is not a drill for the fashion giant. A fresh perspective and direction for the brand is on the horizon.

However, the campaign is still heavily influenced by the brand’s heritage and association with Britain. The campaign features many British musicians, including John Glacier and Shygirl. The images were specifically and intentionally captured in front of many famous landmarks around London, such as Big Ben and Houses of Parliament. Their iconic check features in many of the new shots as well as signature pieces, such as the Burberry trench coat. We have therefore been re-assured that they will not lose their heritage, as they adapt for the modern market and consumer. 

We are excited to see what is instore for Burberry as Daniel Lee takes over the branding. A collection has not yet been created under his authority, however, will only be a matter of time.

The campaign captures a journey through different worlds, blending the classicism of still images with the modernity of CGI technology. In the photos taken by Danko Steiner, the famous model stands strong on architectural plinths reflected in the water, in a minimalist reinterpretation of coastal lands, reads the note. The images of the campaign turn into a dream digital realm into a video, created by visual artist Frederik Heyman, with a CGI incarnation of Naomi Campbell.

“Working with Riccardo is always magical,” she said. “He always has such a unique vision and he can always bring out a new aspect of me, pushing me to do things I wouldn’t even think of. Working with Burberry is also such an honor. It is a British institution and it has been since it was founded in 1856: in a sense, you feel like you are representing your country. I feel that British style and attitude always drive trends. We don’t just wear it, we live it.”

“For my third TB Summer Monogram collection, I wanted to celebrate the balance between our heritage and the importance of always evolving and looking ahead. The collection captures that feeling of summer optimism, constant momentum, as well as excitement for the future,” Tisci said. “And for this campaign I couldn’t think of anyone but my incredible friend Naomi Campbell, that best symbolizes this spirit. Naomi has this transcendental energy and beauty and embodies both a timeless classicism and the vitality of summer”.

To bring this campaign to life, Tisci worked with a creative team including photographer Danko Steiner, stylist Catherine Baba, makeup artist Adam Fleischhauer and hairstylist Jawara, as well as collaborating with the visual artist Frederik Heyman to give life to the campaign in a unique CGI world.

The new TB Summer Monogram collection will be available online and in selected Burberry stores worldwide from July 16.

The wait is now over, as Tisci recently revealed that he has joined in collaboration with legendary British designer Vivienne Westwood for a limited edition collection that re-works Westwood archive pieces in the signature Burberry check. It’s the collection you didn’t know you needed.

The collection itself supports Cool Earth, a UK based charity that works alongside rainforest communities to halt deforestation and stop climate change, and in the period of eco-uncertainty we’re currently living in, this collection couldn’t have come at a better time.

Lots and lots of fair isle knits can be found in Burberry’s Christmas campaign. The 80’s inspired short starring Cara Delevingne and actor Matt Smith, shows plenty of staple Burberry pieces and a Pet Shop Boys soundtrack.

Coach treat us to two campaigns for their festive collection: brand ambassador Selena Gomez stars in the Coach DINKY bag film, and ‘Bring On The Joy’ is a world where colours pop, metallics shine and Rexy with her mascots come out to play,

JIMMY CHOO

“Shimmer in the Dark” is the Jimmy Choo festive offering that is full of Cara Delevingne and sparkle. There’s a clever ending too with the message “I want Choo”

SWAROVSKI

With an extremely glitzy party hosted by brand ambassador Karlie Kloss, Swarovski’s Christmas campaign is set in a Crystal Wonderland brimming with celebrity. We spotted Naomi Campbell, Maggie Jiang, Chiara Ferragni, Jourdan Dunn, Fei Fei Sun, Ruby Rose, Maye Musk, Boy George and more.
