]]> This Autumn/Winter we are seeing artistic masterpieces being created on the faces of our favourite influencers. Beauty is going full Picasso this season and we are on board. So, get your brushes and palettes ready as we have some great inspirational looks for you to try out.

Colour and Geometric Liner

Starting off more subtle we have coloured graphic liners and black graphic eye art. Spice up your Autumn Makeup with pops of coloured liner or go geometric with jagged black shapes. These techniques definitely give your look an edge, however, can be achieved in a smaller amount of time. 

Stamps and stencils are perfect for achieving these effects if you lack the confidence to start recreating these looks. We have found some useful products to help you begin.

Full Face Art

We are going full-blown face art for these next looks. Surrealism, Pop Art, and AI are huge influences for makeup this season. With Halloween having passed, we are not quite ready to put down our liners and brushes and neither are makeup artists and influencers like Sophia Sinot. The creativity is endless with graphic liner and your face is your canvas for this trend! We have picked some of our favourite creations from this season so far.

Embellishments

Why keep makeup 2D when we can make it 3D, right? These women are all over the trend of embellishing their eyes, cheeks and foreheads with rhinestones, glitter, and stickers. Let’s not forget makeup is all about self-expression and having fun. Not only are these women showing off their talent and creative expression, but they also look amazing!

We also had to mention the TikTok trend of using temporary tattoos as a quick and easy way to take your makeup to the next level. What better way to show you are feeling extra than swapping out your classic wings for butterfly wings.

]]> Art and high fashion have always been synonymous in their ability to evoke feelings of joy, optimism and ease. Through pleasing patterns and abstract designs, many fashion houses are collaborating with timeless artists from Reinhard Voigt to Frank Stella to combine high fashion silhouettes with artsy abstract prints.

As Paris Fashion Week draws to a close, Voir has your final rundown of unforgettable shows.

Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney is the pioneer of ethical fashion, her designs repeatedly remind us that neglecting leather and fur doesn’t mean leaving behind quality and style. Her FW22 show (set in an ultra-modern Parisian dome) created silky skirts, denim flight suits and fluffy trench coats in a colour palette of pastel tones. The designer made use of fluid shapes and negative space to create an artistic and lively, yet wearable collection.

To create the collection, McCartney worked with artist Frank Stella, using his work as inspiration. The parallels between Stella’s work and McCartney’s designs are evident in her use of abstract prints in a minimalist meets maximalist style. On working with the artist, Stella admitted to Vogue it was “scary because he has incredibly good taste”. Despite this, the two came together to create an amalgamation of artsy prints and high fashion silhouettes.

Louis Vuitton

With more prints and patterns than imaginable, Nicolas Ghesquiere captured the beauty and culture of Paris through an old money inspired FW22 collection showcased at the Musee d’Orsay. Moving away from the strict gender codes that once held a tight grip over the fashion industry, Louis Vuitton’s newest collection saw women in traditional menswear from ties to pinstripe pants.

The collection blurred the lines between streetwear and couture silhouettes as loose-fitting sweaters were placed over flaring maxi skirts in floral prints. Playing on the trending old-money style garments, collared sweaters synonymous with vintage golf wear were paired with pocketed dungaree dresses. The quaint collection complemented the romantic marble setting.

The show’s audience was filled with the fashion house’s muses. Sarah Paulson and Emma Chamberlain sat in the front row, a prime spot to watch Squid Game’s HoYeon Jung open the show in a brunette boxy jacket.

Givenchy

Since becoming creative director of Givenchy, Matthew Williams has turned the house into a pioneer of alternative modern fashion by blending key house codes like feminine elegance with fashion-forward flair.

For his FW22 collection, Williams brought nostalgic noughties grunge back to the forefront. Baggy band tees, tight-fitting tanks, and leather boots transported us to the days of Nirvana- fever as fierce models stormed the runway to futuristic beats.

While the collection was fun and light-hearted, the fashion house did not fail to pay their respects to those currently suffering in Ukraine; Givenchy sent both blue and yellow looks between the emo wear to show solidarity with the war-torn country.

Schiaparelli

Schiaparelli took their legendary surrealist designs to new heights with a vintage horror-inspired FW22 collection. Claws, cone bras, and torso shaped purses each featured in a black and white filter- looking back to Elsa Schiaparelli’s phantasmagorical accessories (like the telephone shaped handbag) for inspiration.

Daniel Roseberry also drew inspiration from gothic cult movies, like Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands, as model Mila Vaneeten was accessorised with knives posing as gloves. The model’s gleaming smiles contrasted the moody garments as Rouguy posed in a monochromatic black look featuring iconic cones, studs, and swirls that the brand has become known for.

Akris

Drawing inspiration from Reinhard Voigt’s artwork, squares and geometric patterns dominated Akris’ FW22 collection. Incorporating pixellated prints onto trenchcoats and blazers, the garments were vibrant and futuristic. Creating an optical illusion through abstract prints, designer Albert Kriemler brought navy and grey looks to Paris Fashion Week.

Even the show’s setting fit the square trend as models stormed a light and open square-based building designed by Kriemler’s long time friend Sou Fujimoto.

Giambattista Valli

Capturing the fierce street style of Parisian women, Italian designer Giambattista Valli looked to vintage French street style to create an elegant day and nightwear collection. Floral gowns, leopard print blazers, and frothy frills came together to create an eclectic mix of textures encapsulating the highlights of a 1960s wardrobe.

Incorporating abstract accessories into the collection, dangerously chunky heels, oversized bows, and upside-down sunglasses played to an OTT representation of day-to-day Parisian attire. Speaking about the show to Vogue, the designer admitted the collection took a swift turnaround in response to the Ukrainian crisis. Valli wanted his designs to symbolise hope amongst the turbulence of the times- a goal he achieved through fun-loving florals and bright pastel designs.

Chanel

Since the days of Coco, tweed has served as Chanel’s staple material. As an ode to the brand’s history, Chanel’s current creative director (Virginie Viard) incorporated the material onto traditional skirt suits, dresses, and blazers. The show was a glamorous exploration of Chanel’s ‘eternal house code’.

The checked fabric featured in a wide range of shades and designs. Bright red suits and sage green wellingtons reminisced nostalgic royal attire while tweed mini dresses were a nod to England in the 1960s. The British influence on Chanel has been apparent since the label’s initiator (Gabrielle Coco Chanel) had a love affair with The Duke of Westminster. Since then the French fashion house has taken in inspiration from our practical wellingtons to cosy cardigans; this collection shows the tight relationship between English dressing and Chanel isn’t set to stop anytime soon!

Miu Miu

After the success of their SS22 pleated mini-skirt worn by icons from Hailey Bieber to Nicole Kidman, Miu Miu continued their ultra-mini legacy with tiny skirts and even tinier shorts in a minuscule length. Keeping to a clean and modern aesthetic, the creative director of Miu Miu (Fabio Zambernardi) perched white scarfs around model’s necks while knee-high socks threw us back to vintage Wimbledon matches. The most jaw-dropping look from the FW22 collection was donned by supermodel Adut Akech who charged the runway a sequined see-through two-piece paired with high-rise socks and sturdy black pumps.

]]> In the recent shows at New York fashion week and the ongoing London fashion week, many beauty trends seen on the catwalk are predicted to be making an even bigger and better comeback in the latter half of the year. With trends reimagined and a few nostalgic looks being brought back from the early 2000’s, this autumn/winter is expected to be a fashionable one.

Longer the better

As seen on Christian Cowans models, extreme nails are in. His models have been seen wearing hyper long acrylic nails with embellishments to add to the extra-ness. Keeping it minimal with the pink and lilac pastel bases, but making it glam with the beads and jewels.

These nails can be achieved at a more everyday level by spicing up your regular nails with stick-on jewels and beads. Enhancing your normal acrylics/gels by experimenting with nail accessories can make a look more exciting and unique. Getting creative doesn’t just stop with clothes, you can carry this on your nails too!

The pastel bubblegum pink colour would be the perfect shade to help replicate the original inspiration by Jaun Alvear.

Nails With A Meaning

Nail artist Lauren Michelle Pires created sets of nails for Ahluwalia AW22 collection, tying in the founders heritage and culture. The aw22 collection was influenced by Pria Ahluwalia’s own culture, the embellished nails and metallic paints references her Bollywood and Hollywood culture.

Small subtle heritage and cultural references like this can add something different to your look. Adding small personal details can create an interesting aspect to your outfit as a whole and can create a new and edgy look. We expect to be seeing this making its mark in the industry this A/W.

Sexy and spiky!

Models walking for The Blonds this fashion week have been seen wearing bold, sexy and spiky nails to match the dynamic clothes displayed. Long stiletto shaped nails carry the feel for the clothes on throughout and add texture and shape to the look as a whole. Glossy and long, the bold one-colour nails are simplistic but impactful. Dark, sensual colours seem to be a running theme with the spiky nails, this perfect pair will defiantly be making an appearance this season.

This gel colour by OPI paired with the shaped nail would be the perfect shade to achieve the look.

Reverse French Tip

Last spring/summer we saw the trend of the coloured French tip arise, well in recent London fashion week show, models walking for Poster Girl have been seen rocking the reverse clear French tip. With the majority of the nail being painted with gel, the tips of the nails have been left clear with small crystal assets added.

This simplistic reverse can elevate and transform a simple nail, colours can be contrasted to the look or paired beautifully creating a new and exciting nail! Whether you are more of the type to do your nails at home or let the professionals do the job, this new nail trend will defiantly add to your personal style.

Swirls from the 70’s

Nails artist Gina Edwards paints using opi nail lacquer for Christian Siriano. The swirly, wavy, 2- tone patterns reflected the colour pallet in the clothes, and has a subtle reference to the classic 70’s swirl pattern.

The way Gina linked the colour of the clothes and the nails together is a simplistic and elegant touch, an easy way to create a cohesive stylish look. For nail art like this, the use of a fine tipped nail brush is the best way to achieve the cleanest result. Starting off by marking out the pattern with the fine brush, then using the brush provided to fill in the space.

Enamelling

Hair “enamelling”, is a new hair trend following the wet look. Many designers at London fashion week have been using the hair enamelling technique to create a modern and more defined look. The slick hair allows more room to experiment with bold makeup looks. The hair creates the slick look without without the crunch left behind from gels, its a softer more wearable look for everyday, and can be easily replicated at home.

This editorial look can be easily achieved in the comfort of your own home, using your own natural oils or with the help of products such as OUAI finishing creme and a smoothing brush it is a more wearable “wet-look” alternative.

Bejewelled partings

A new and exciting way to jazz up your regular hair. Subtle but impactful! As seen on the runway in Christian Siriano New York fashion week show “victorian matrix” this modern and edgy approach to a simple hairstyle will be making an appearance this season. Whether its your next festival hairstyle or just another way to add a bit on panache to you’r look its definitely a new an innovative idea for editorial fashion.

Using a fine toothed comb and hair spray to get a sleek defined parting is the first step. Then using adhesive gems and tweezers place the gems along the centre parting of your hair. You could experiment with using adhesive pears or beads for a different kind of effect.

Retro blow-out

We all know blow-outs are popular, but the trend of the 70’s blow-out making a come back in Halpern’s London fashion week runway is a trend I’m not sad to see making a comeback. The glossy chic hairstyle can be for any occasion. Whether you are just feeling a bit extra for work or want to go all out for a dinner date this hair style is perfect!

This look is simple to achieve at home. Sleek blow-out, heavy bubble fringes, and flicked out ends. A reference to the 70’s but making it edgy and wearable. Easily achievable and very fashionable. For the most picture perfect hair the easiest method is using the Dyson Airwrap. This blow dry styler is the best way to have the best outcome, using the twisted barrel adaptor the flicked out ends and bubble fringe is easily acquired. It creates a smooth glossy finish to complete the look.

Stamps are here to stay

The early 2000’s trend of chalk hair stamps made a comeback in 2021 but seem to be sticking around this year swell. Seen in 16 Arlingtons London fashion week runway, the stripy hair stamps are reminiscent of the original trend and have a nostalgic feel to them, whilst also creating a new cool and edgy name for themselves.

This hair trend has already been seen in mainstream media by the likes of Rhianna, but the debut on a high fashion runway is sure to set this trend to be a big hit. For a longer lasting look, the use of semi permanent hair dye is the way to go. Cruelty free brands such as Bleach London have a great ashy grey toner that will help you easily achieve this look. Using a colouring brush, separate the section of your hair hair and begin to paint that strip downwards whilst also painting some horizontal striped to create the desired look.
