These Instagram Looks Will Teach You How to Style Bold Summer Trends

Monochromatic and matching sets are clearly trending now – from Kali Uchis to Teyana Taylor, and Cinzia, they are all having hot girl summer in stunning sets. Rihanna, Maya Jama, and Princess Nokia are also teaching us how to keep our cool during the hot weather and stay comfortable whilst doing it. Here are our inspiring Instagram looks of this week:

Maya Jama

Maya Jama stuns in this short-sleeve shirt from Trapstar London. Keeping it chic, she pairs the boxy men’s shirt with blue, denim shorts and strappy sandals. Taking colour inspiration for the graphic shirt design, Maya accessories with orange glasses and a pastel blue Louis Vuitton bag – when styling a simple look, creating a matching colour palette can be so effective, as proved by Maya.

Parisa

Parisa is proving the sheer trend of the 1990s has returned! Pairing a sheer shirt dress from Krupa et al with simple black undergarments is chic. She accessories with square-toe neon heels (another summer trend) and a furry mini bag to create a revived 90s look.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa pairs a Charlotte Knowles purple dress with an orange clutch bag. This colour combination works well, with two bold colours coming together to create a summer look. She accessories with chunky silver and beaded necklaces and another trendy item of strappy sandals.

Cinzia Liszullo

Cinzia is proving that after a year of lockdowns, comfortability is key. The silky, sage matching set paired with classic air force ones and gold hoops makes this a perfect fit to recreate. The oversized shirt and loose-fitted trousers make this outfit easy and breezy for heatwaves, and the pastel colour proves we could all do with having more sage in our wardrobe!

Rihanna

Rihanna never misses a fashion moment, even when she is just waking up! Her rectangular, black glasses and a black hoodie simply look cool. Just because the weather may be getting colder, does not mean we should ditch the sunglasses – follow Rihanna’s influence to pair sunnies with a monochromatic fit to instantly look stylish.

Kali Uchis

Kali Uchis is taking us back to the 1970s in this orange and brown matching set. The gorgeous crop top and leggings are from London-based, Sinead Gorey. This look proves that if you have interesting pieces, accessorising can be kept minimal – Kali pairs the set with a simple headband and gold bangles, sticking to a colour palette of browns and golds.

Teyana Taylor

Teyana Taylor is proving again that matching sets are here to stay – from beachwear to sweatsuits, they are trending come rain or shine. The oversized fit of Teyana’s colourful, crochet matching set looks comfortable. When paired with fuzzy bear paws it is impossible not to love this cosy fit.

Tina Shenow

Tinashe is teaching us how to wear neon without fear, by accessorising layers of neon yellow with a fluorescent pink bag. Advice to live by is Tinashe’s styling of the look – to balance having such a loud outfit and handbag, she keeps her makeup and jewellery simple with a silver chained necklace and hooped earrings.

Princess Nokia

Patterns, bold colours, and neon are embodied in Princess Nokia’s look. A loud, furry, cartoonish hat from Whatever 21, paired with a turquoise bikini top, and green plaid trousers. Bold on top of bold here works so well – by going loud in every aspect of your outfit, you cannot go wrong.
