Instagram is a hot platform for self-expression and trend setting. SS21 is the era of colour and most importantly colour clashing. The secret to execute a funky colourful outfit is to pay attention to details. Within the Instagram world of fashion conscious influencers, an extra effort is being made to co-ordinate a cohesive colour scheme. This is enforced through various accessorising; bags; nails; shoes; (trainers such as Jordan’s are a popular choice for their colour versatility) sunglasses and pop rings, can all be used to construct a desired colour scheme. If you want to jump on to this colourful bandwagon, but are struggling to find the right blend of colours for your SS21 wardrobe; here are three different colour combinations that are a must-wear this season.

Hot Pink & Lime Green

Pinks and greens are fun colours that radiate a confidence aesthetic. In SS21 there’s no such thing as a colour clash, evidently promoted by instagrammers, it is THE time to embrace a pop of colour. Lime green and hot pink are everywhere at the moment, these bright colours are livening up the UK spring streets. This unique trend is an eye-catching moment; its daringness and flair shows the world you have a keen eye for style. Taking inspiration from UK influencer, Olivia Neil, she creates a colour blocking style, consistent throughout her outfit ensemble. Olivia matches her pink sunglasses with a funky pink tracksuit, paired with a green tank top underneath. To turn these colours into a cohesive look, she weaves the green tones into her accessories, including cute detailing of pop rings and a crocodile clip.

Keeping Cool with Blues and Greens

As well as clashing colours, another vibe emerging in SS21 involves the inclusion of multiple shades of the same colour, within a look. Shades of blues and greens are a popular choice. In contrast to the pink and green combination, blues and greens belong in the same family of cooler tones; they complement each other well, flowing nicely into one another. To make styling easier, a lot of brands are selling individual pieces that are created for this trend, displaying this varied tone colour pallet. However, it is fun to personally experiment with your own wardrobe, integrating shades of blues and greens into different outfit items. This trend can be as subtle or as dramatic as you want due to its versatile nature, hence, this colour combination is a must-do this season.

Looking Hot in Orange, Pink & Red

Continuing with the multiple tone trends, but on the opposite side of the spectrum of the blues and greens, are the warming shades or orange, pink and red. Depending on how you style these colours, they can create such different visions. The choice of tones speaks volumes about the vibe you are going for, the deeper shades of oranges and reds suit an evening appropriate outfit, perfect for a night-out. These colours deliver a sexy and sophisticated vibe. Alternatively, including pastel pink tones emit more of a pretty and dainty feel, creating a lighter and brighter effect that would be cute for a daytime look.

It is clear that after a long lockdown winter, full of dull tone loungewear and repetitive style choices; the fashion world is craving some colour for SS21. These fun pops of colours act as an expression of excitement; colour combining is a fun and creative outlet to experiment and encompass into your wardrobe. The SS21 streets will resemble a rainbow, inviting everyone to embrace this funky and quirky trend.
