Return of the Knit

It is almost time for the clocks to go back and the cardigans to come on as Autumn approaches. Knitwear has evolved from being an essential garment to a statement piece in our wardrobe. We no longer buy these items for the sole purpose to keep us warm but also for their appearance and on trend look. Who would have thought a few years ago basic cardigans and jumpers would be the focal point of our outfits? It used to be a clothing piece we would put on reluctantly as it covered up our outfits underneath and felt unflattering, now we have a fresh view and are embracing the return of knitwear this season.

This Autumn we are also exploring how knitwear does not just stop at jumpers but its appearing in all forms including dresses and trousers. Here are a range of outfits that reflect the love for this style, ready for the upcoming season to keep you on trend.

Knitted Vests

The cooler months gives us the opportunity to play around with different styles such as layering and a style where we have seen this appear are with knitted vests paired with a shirt. This is a trend we saw through last autumn and is one we are welcoming back gladly. However, this year the vests have come back with a retro twist, available in bolder patterns and playful colours. Even though you do not have to layer these pieces, it adds a sophisticated look for those more formal plans.

Knitted dresses

Just because the sun is hiding away it does not mean our legs have to hide away for the whole season too. Knitted midi dresses are an essential for this autumn, paired with a pair of laced up ankle boots and a leather jacket it takes knitwear and makes it chic. There’s also a variety of necklines to choose from including polo and sweetheart. As well the midi length highlights your curves and keeps you warm whilst remaining feminine.

Knitted Trousers

You may think knitwear is just for our top halves, however a style appearing from many brands this season are knitted trousers. They have been seen appearing as part of a co ord, which can be dressed down to lounge around in with style or paired with some chunky trainers and statement jewellery for a day out.

Puff sleeved jumpers

Even though we are enjoying these new forms of knitwear, you can’t beat a classic cosy jumper to wrap up in. One style which has been repeatedly popping up are the puff sleeved knits which are guaranteed to help you make a statement with their extravagant details adding volume to a basic jumper. You can either show off this trend subtly or go all out with an extreme balloon sleeve.

Cut out knits

The cut-out trend is one which has been seen everywhere this past spring/summer season and has been adopted by many brands. However, it is not just constricted to these summer months, it is being brought into the following season with us. This detailing has been seen appearing on jumpers, skirts, and dresses whether it’s on the neckline or placed at the back, it is a chic look we can expect to see a lot of this autumn.
