Coats. We all need them, and we all use them. They are our shield to weather us through all weathers and will forever have a place in our wardrobes. Macs, capes and parkas; each style of coat has their individual charm and while there is an abundance of coats available to fit into our shopping baskets it can be an overwhelming task to decide which ones to invest in. VOIR have come up with a selection of the most on-season outerwear to make this decision that much easier.

  1. The Beige Camel

Wearability and versatility are what comes to mind when thinking of the classic camel coat. Camel coats can easily be layered with oversized shirts and snug knitwear for casual styling yet can simultaneously be a luxe cover-up for a slinky satin midi dress on an evening out. This textured wool coat from Zara features an oversized silhouette, large front pockets with a detail of side splits at the hem.

2. The Reversible

With fashionable functionality at the forefront of a reversible jacket, its hard to resist the temptation of getting two coats while only buying one. This reversible Topshop borg jacket cleverly sports one side of its jacket as a creamy animal-friendly shearling, while the other side of the jacket has contrasting details of the cream shearling while the base of the jacket consists of black faux leather.

3. The Luxe Padding

Padded coats provide a feeling of warm protection when worn and are perfect to keep you sheltered from the cold days that lay ahead of us. Bottega Veneta’s quilted padded coat encompasses luxury with dreamy chocolate brown satin used for quilting and has ditched the traditional button or tie-wrap fastenings, for an asymmetrical gold and silver chain belt for a rebellious detail.

4. The Cape

If you want to add a touch of theatrical glamour to your day, a cape can be the finishing touch to your outfit which makes you feel that bit more ‘put together’ without overdoing it. Gucci’s take on the cape features as a two-toned warm brown duo of leather and suede, featuring a gold Gucci monogram plaque on the breast of the jacket.

5. The Vinyl

Vinyl coats are the perfect blend of retro and modernity with their glossy textures that often come in an array of colours. Easily worn with a pair of jeans, a tee and a co-ordinating beret, vinyl coats are a fan favourite of fashion influencers who boast strong street style.
