Swarovski released a post with model and actress, Lourdes Leon sporting their upcoming collection II. The collection, in bursts of purple, pink and green hues, the body language scream Y2K in unison. Leon, in the 8-second campaign video, can be seen wearing a knitted green bandeau halter top, low-rise jeans paired with rings, necklaces, and belly-bands for the campaign. The ‘Dulchis’ Swarovski pendants nest perfectly on her top as she makes a bold statement with her unshaved underarms unveiling the collection.

Photographed by Mikael Jansson, the Swarovski collection is an embodiment of a playful grandeur complementing the campaign’s mood and theme. Lourdes, apart from modeling for Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, Parade x Juicy Couture alongside Ashley Graham, etc. is also an activist and a linguist and the Swarovski campaign shoot is another addition to her spiking career.

The 24-year-old, daughter of ‘Queen of Pop’, has been chosen as the face of Swarovski to “serve as a platform for representation of people from all cultures and orientations”, for the brand. Collection II comes after the Austrian glass and crystal manufacturer appointed fashion icon Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert as their new creative director. On 15th Feb 2021, Swarovski released its first set of collections etched with Engelbert’s personal bold street style. Collection I and II spark a fun-frolic and vibrant vibe heading into the Y2K direction, pushing into dimensions of Nostalgia. Y2K is already having a ‘renaissance’ moment and the sudden burst of old summer nostalgia hues has already been patrolling our Instagram feeds.

The iridescent pieces from the collection are also a testament to the brand’s vision towards 2021 and beyond. “I wanted to explore the fundamental geometry of crystal and its potential as a material,” said Giovanna Engelbert in her statement.

Swarovski in their press release stated that the ‘reason behind choosing Leon to be the face of collection II was due to her activist, modeling, and actress accomplishments.’ As captioned in their Instagram post, the Swarovski Dulchis indeed tunes into the sweet, soft yet irreverent, and eye-catching elements from the first glance.
