It’s About Time We Relive These Iconic Grammy Looks

The Grammy Awards return for their 2022 ceremony just under a week away on April 4th, so to celebrate the event we thought we would run down some of the most iconic looks that have graced both the Grammys red carpet and also the stage itself. There have been no shortage of looks to choose from so sit back, read on and prepare for a musical trip down memory lane!

Killer Red Carpet Moments

Megan Thee Stallion

For the 2021 Grammys Megan Thee Stallion wore a bright orange wrapped dress adorned with a massive bow at the back. In addition to the dress Megan also accessorised with multiple pieces of encrusted jewelry running from her head to her feet adding a luxurious sparkle to her ensemble.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa wore a diamond encrusted dress to the 2021 ceremony which featured huge butterfly motifs on both the front and back of the dress, serving as the centerpiece and holding the whole look together. The dress was finished in a pleasing pastel pink and blue hue which added a nice psychedelic feel to the outfit.

TLC

Taking things all the way back to 1996 and TLC. The iconic girl group dressed themselves entirely in white for a look that still looks pretty futuristic even today. The materials of each outfit also had a metallic shine to them which only added to the space age feel.

JLo

At the turn of the millennium JLo rocked up to the Grammys in one of the most well remembered looks of all time. JLo wore a sheer dress which cut extremely low (like down to the crotch low) which was printed with plants and leaves and coloured in a pleasing combo of green and blue. Let’s all take a leaf out of JLo’s book and remember to embrace nature.

Lady Gaga

In 2010 Lady Gaga was at the peak of her truly experimental fashion phase and for the Grammy awards she embraced all things futurism, turning up fully decked in silver and like she had her own planetary rings orbiting her. Gaga was also carrying a huge spiked ornament, perhaps meant to mimic a star, which added even more futurism, and perhaps a little danger, to the look.

SZA

SZA also embraced a slightly futuristic vibe for her appearance in 2018, wearing a silver dress with intricate patterning that flowed down into a stunning sheer gown with matching sleeves. A wonderful combo of vintage and futuristic.

Ariana Grande

Ariana collaborated with Giambattista Vali in 2020 for an absolutely enormous dress which could probably have housed another 3 or 4 of the singer underneath. The tulle frock was extravagant whilst also remaining elegant, helped by the cool shade of greyish-blue the dress was coloured in.

Lizzo

Lizzo embraced vintage Hollywood glamour for 2020’s ceremony in a collaboration with Donatella Versace. The white jewel lined dress was accompanied by a humongous pair of fur sleeves which draped down to the floor, being nearly as long as the dress itself.

Cardi B

Cardi B dressed herself head-to-toe in diamonds in 2020 for a one of a kind look that consisted of a sheer, nude coloured dress with an attached cape for extra flare and drama. The jewels were the centerpiece though with the necklace in particular being the absolute standout.

Rihanna

What better colour to wear on the red carpet than… red? Rihanna blended into the carpet itself in this incredibly striking red dress which made the singer look totally radiant. She didn’t stop with dress though, also donning some red lipstick and painting her nails red too, creating a cohesively vibrant outfit.

Lil Kim

This incredibly unique bodysuit worn by Lil Kim sent enough sparkle down the red carpet to last a lifetime. The lilac outfit was adorned with sparkles and prints from top to bottom with the cut of the garment itself leaving Kim’s left side of her chest totally bare aside from a couple of stick on prints. Definitely an adventurous look.

The iconic girl group embraced the neutrals in 2006 wearing a trio of dresses ranging from bronze to cream. Michelle wore a shimmering bronze number with a sheer bottom, Kelly wore the lightest of the dresses with a flowing trail and series of embellishments running down, and Beyoncé wore another bronze number with a series of intricate patterns running from the chest all the way to the hem. Each of the members also wore elegant pieces of jewelry to match, giving their outfits and extra pop of sparkle.

Performance Looks You Can’t Forget

Ariana Grande

For her performance of 7 Rings Ariana embraced all things pink with pink set pieces, pink stage lighting and, of course, pink outfits. Set in a house party Ariana was suitably dressed in a pink gown with a huge fur hood and equally huge fur sleeves, creating the ultimate comfy look.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa has also embraced pink, wearing sparkling pink heels and a matching sparkling pink two-piece set during her performance in 2021. The outfit was equal parts playful and seductive, with the sequins and sparkles adding a nice touch of glamour.

Beyonce & Jay-Z

Bey and Jay-Z matched up together for their joint performance with Jay-Z wearing a classically cut tux and Beyonce wearing a black bodice combined with sheer, dotted leggings. The all black looks were both elegant and, in Bey’s case, playful too.

Lady Gaga

In 2011 Lady Gaga donned a beige tube top and skirt combo both of which looked silky smooth to the touch. The look was a noticeably dressed down one considering Gaga’s outrageous styles at the time but still nevertheless felt very authentic and true to her.

Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion was dressed head to toe in diamonds for her performance at last year’s ceremony, making the stage sparkle with her encrusted outfit. She wore a sheer skin-tight bodysuit lined with jewels from neck to foot and also donned a pair of encrusted heeled boots to match.

Harry Styles

Now for one of the modern innovators of male style and fashion. Harry has made a name for himself by wearing extravagant printed suits and shirts across his career, but he went for a more simplistic style for his performance at last year’s event. Harry wore an all-black leather suit and finished it off with a gloriously oversized green fur scarf for that signature touch of Styles flamboyance.

Britney Spears

One of Britney’s most iconic looks of her entire career. Britney wore a green bralette accessorised with jewels and combined it with a multicoloured skirt running around her back with even more jewelry attached to it.

Amy Winehouse

The late great Amy Winehouse appeared in what is quite possibly her most iconic and remembered look of all time for her performance at the Grammys. The Back to Black singer wore a tulle black mini-dress, huge winged eyeliner and, of course, that iconic beehive hairdo that would become one of her defining characteristics.

Beyonce

For the 2017 ceremony Beyonce looked like true ancient royalty dressed top to bottom in gold jewelry. The golden dress was fitted with countless pieces of tiny jewelry each intricately placed and arranged into swirling, mesmerizing patterns, whilst atop Bey’s head sat an enormous golden headpiece which wouldn’t have looked out of place in the days of ancient Egypt.
