2020 was without any doubt one of those years that we’d all like to forget and pass over…

However, we can’t really say the same about its fashion. The limited occasions to dress up and the exhausting take over of loungewear might have helped us appreciate fashion more than ever, making us countdown the days to the few yet special fashion events of the year. Amidst all the uncertainty and the re-evaluation of our usual lifestyles fashion managed to remain as important as always and mark this year with unforgettable stylish moments, from virtual red-carpets to political celebrations.
Here’s a list of our favourite fashion moments of the year:

  1. Harry Styles redefining masculinity

Just when we thought we couldn’t love Harry Styles even more he managed to surprise us
once again. This time challenging outdated gender norms while making a fashion statement
in a mesmerising Gucci gown for the cover of Vogue. Whether you like him as an artist or
not he managed to get everyone talking and mark the year with one of the best and most
daring looks of the year.

2. Emily In Paris

The show that sparked a lot of controversy amongst the French and TV aficionados was also
the one to provide us with some of the most iconic fashion moments of the year. Emily with
her modern adaptation of the romantic Parisian style managed to attract us all and definitely
influenced the many outfits we’ll wear once all of this is over, from monochromatic chic
looks to printed puffer coats.

3. Tiger King

The viral Netflix series didn’t only inspire some of the best quarantine Tik Toks of the year
but also has a great influence on fashion trends. Carole Baskin’s memorable obsession with
animal print and floral accessories caught all of the media’s attention and whether it inspired
Halloween costumes or your daily wardrobe it was arguably one of the most remarkable
fashion moments of 2020.

4. Beyonce’s Black Is King Wardrobe

Everything about Beyonce’s Black Is King was unforgettable. The hybrid in its fashion that
compromised everything from cultural appreciation to music and film aesthetics reminded us
once again that Beyonce never disappoints, especially when it comes to fashion.

5. Everything Jacquemus

Needless to say, Jacquemus has become one of our favourite fashion brands in recent years.
With its elegant earth-toned colour palette, contemporary designs and fresh textures its
Spring 2021 fashion show in France bought some of the most appreciated clothing of the year
and managed to prove that the fashion industry could reinvent itself in times of crisis.

6. Lady Gaga at the VMAs

Masks have become the new normal but no one was quite ready to see them adapted into
fashion so quickly and efficiently as we did at the MTV Video Music Awards. Lady Gaga
left us all speechless with her stylish masks. Making both a fashion and a social statement,
reminding us all of the importance of being safe and the possibility of doing so while
remaining true to our style.

7. Givenchy under Matthew Williams

The legendary Parisian fashion brand reinvented itself through the vision of Matthew
Williams and positively surprised us with a new and elegant approach to streetwear. Through
the combination of structured tailoring, textural experimentation, layering and luxurious
accessories it managed to reflect the essence of Givenchy’s old designs together with the
modernist perspective of the young designer. What’s there not to love?

8. Prada It bags

Prada It bags were everywhere this year, and we hope they’re not going anywhere. From its
Re-Edition Nylon Mini-Bags to the classic Cleo Shoulder Bag, we’ve seen all of our
favourite influencers wear them and give us every possible reason to splurge on the statement
bags of the year. The perfect classic and minimalist designs to complement any look and
reward ourselves for making it through such a challenging year.
