A Tribute to an Icon

Central to the collection was the revival of Le Smoking, Yves Saint Laurent’s legendary tuxedo suit introduced in the 1960s that revolutionised womenswear. Vaccarello’s interpretation honoured the heritage of the house while infusing it with contemporary attitude, presenting sleek tuxedo jackets paired with pencil skirts, lace bodysuits, and dramatic outerwear.

The reinterpretation felt both nostalgic and strikingly current. Broad shoulders, sculptural tailoring, and sharply cut silhouettes echoed the glamour of the 1980s, a decade that continues to inspire Vaccarello’s recent collections. Yet the styling remained minimal, allowing the precision of the tailoring to take centre stage.

Sensuality Meets Structure

While the show opened with commanding tailoring, the collection gradually revealed a softer, more provocative dimension. Lace evening jackets worn open over sheer bodysuits, plunging necklines, and delicate fabrics created a dialogue between strength and sensuality. This balance—power and vulnerability—has become a defining signature of Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent.

Accessories played an equally important role. Oversized aviator sunglasses, crystal statement earrings, glossy belts, and antique-inspired brooches added drama without overwhelming the streamlined silhouettes. The brooch, in particular, emerged as a key styling element, fastening lace jackets and hinting at a revival of vintage jewellery trends.

The Celebrity Factor

As expected, the show drew an A-list crowd, reinforcing Saint Laurent’s status as a cultural powerhouse. Figures from fashion, film, and music filled the front row, while models delivered a runway moment that blended glamour with attitude. The presence of celebrities and returning runway stars further amplified the spectacle surrounding the collection.

More than a seasonal collection, the show felt like a statement about the evolution of modern elegance. By revisiting the house’s most iconic pieces while pushing them into contemporary territory, Vaccarello demonstrated how heritage can coexist with innovation.

The festive short film was released on Wednesday 13th November, shot at The Marquis Cornwallis pub in London, and inspired by the brand’s 2015 “Love Me Tender” film.

Shot by Greg Williams in collaboration with Creative Director Sarah Shotton, the short film featured showstopping lingerie from AP’s Forever Collection, and draws on the brand’s London-cool DNA, trademark wit, and of course the must-have sensual lingerie.

You might not know her name yet, but you’ve seen her work. If the J Lo X Shakira Super Bowl halftime show doesn’t ring any bells, then maybe you remember the iconic ‘Yummy’ music video by Justin Bieber; or maybe it’s the Savage x Fenty shows that sound familiar to you. Watching them, you might’ve wondered who the person behind those daring dance moves was. The answer, Parris.

Some people are born with a purpose; after watching Missy Elliot and Madonna dancing on TV, 5-year-old Goebel discovered hers, dance. ‘I’ve always been pretty confident in my dreams and where I see my future heading, so it didn’t take me very long to identify what I wanted to be when I grew up.’ she said in a 2017 interview. The New Zealand native dropped out of high school at just 15 to pursue her calling, forming a dance crew, Royal Family, and uploading herself on Youtube.

Her small troupe went on to win the World Hip Hop Dance Championship an unprecedented three times in a row.

After having worked with KPOP star CL in 2016, she popped up on Jennifer Lopez’s radar, which led to Parris choreographing Lopez’s world tour at just 19 years old. Her signature sassy and aggressive dance style (‘polyswagg’) broke the rising star into the industry as celebrities followed J Lo’s cue. Now, the 28-year-old has Ariana Grande, SZA, BLACKPINK, Janet Jackson, Nicki Minaj, and Justin Bieber on her roster. Oh yeah, and Justin’s iconic ‘Sorry’ music video a.k.a. one of the most viewed videos on Youtube? She choreographed that too. As if that wasn’t enough, she was also behind Rihanna’s iconic Super Bowl half time show this year.

After spending so much of her career as the industry’s best-kept backstage secret, Parris is finally stepping into the spotlight. She signed with IMG Models in 2018 and has since worked with giants like Dior and Alexander McQueen. She ‘polyswagged’ her way through a New York Fashion Week 2022 and became the face of UGG’s Spring campaign that same year. The star also recently co-hosted the NIKE Goddess experience after becoming a brand ambassador two years ago. And fashion’s not the only place Goebler’s leaving her mark: she’s released one music album, two books, choreographed two dance cult movies ( StepUp: All In), and received the New Zealand Order of Merit, and an EMMY

But Parris didn’t start as an Emmy and MTV award-winning artist. She, like a lot of us, started with an impossible dream, wild determination, and unsupervised access to the Internet. In a recent Instagram post, Goebel’s wrote ‘As you climb the mountain of your dreams, you will be greatly challenged…but your passion, strength and LOVE for what you do will override anything standing in your way.’ And that she did. With a career like this, there’s no doubt she’s the newest MVP in the entertainment world (and all our FYPs). Wherever she goes next, one thing’s for certain: Parris is living up to her name.

‘333’ era

Coming as Tinashe’s fifth studio release, ‘333’ is perhaps her most creative project yet. Released independently without a major label, her album has been matched with critical acclaim and warm response from fans. 

One of our favourite looks from this era has got to be the ‘Naturally’ music video, where Tinashe transformed into a killer shepherdess and a crazed cowgirl on the hunt for a bloody valentine. 

‘X’ is also a standout moment, with Tinashe living out her biker girl fantasy whilst performing slick choreo.

From heroin chic to London look, as Miss Moss turns 47, we look back at the photos that defined her career.

1. The Face 1990- Shot by Corrine Day

Kate Moss may have started her career in ‘88, but she found her break 2 years later when she got the front cover of British culture and fashion magazine The Face. Posing in feathers and boho chic on the beach, Kate’s 16-year old smiling face on the cover gave her the start of success.

2. Calvin Klein 1992- Shot by Herb Ritts

In 1992 Kate modelled for Calvin Klein’s underwear campaign, with Mark Wahlberg, known by ‘Marky Mark’ at the time. The controversial ad launched Moss into fame, as the world saw a more bare, waif-like model before them, much of a contrast to the likes of Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer.

3. Vogue March 1993- Shot by Corrine Day

Working with Corrine Day again, Kate embraced her waif look by channeling Twiggy and epitomising the London girl style in her first Vogue cover at just 19. Moss has gone on to be the cover of over 40 more British Vogue issues.

4. Calvin Klein Obsession Campaign 1993 – Shot By Mario Sorrenti

The same year, Moss was the face of Calvin Klein’s Obsession fragrance campaign. Not only did these adverts give Kate supermodel status, but this fragrance campaign became an iconic moment for the Calvin Klein brand, so much so that the archive was reopened and used again by Raf Simons for the Calvin Kelin Obsessed campaign 25 years later.

5. Face of Rimmel 2001

After 13 years in the business, Kate was still going strong, becoming the face of Rimmel Cosmetics in 2001, the first face of the company since they were founded in 1834. Moss’ London girl look suited the British brand so well, and because of this she remained the face for more than 15 years.

6. Playboy 2014 – Shot By Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott

For the magazine’s 60th birthday, Kate Moss made her Playboy cover debut. Wearing the classic Playboy bunny outfit, Moss, whose career had spanned 4 calendar decades by this point, posed for the cover at 39 years old. Kate was 40 when the issue was released – to be the chosen icon at that age in a world of retirement at 28 is iconic in itself.

Surely we have all seen Jorja Smith’s latest music video ‘Be Honest’.

From glossy lids to dewy skin, the aesthetics on Smith’s first single since her 2018 album ‘Lost and Found’ screams Indian summer. Smith’s vibe on this track departs somewhat from her more serious and soulful demeanour surrounding her debut album and it’s refreshing to see.

By 22, Jorja Smith has accomplished much – collaborations with Drake, a Brit Award for Best British Female Artist and a critically acclaimed album. ‘Lost and Found’ beautifully touched upon political issues such as police brutality and minority experiences in Britain which generated admiration by all in the industry. ‘Be Honest’ adds to this already-rich discography but also gestures an evolution in her persona both in terms of aesthetics and song themes.

In ‘Be Honest’, Smith ventures to be different. Her video follows her enjoying (and trying to survive) a characteristically British-summer heatwave with her friends. The opening shot features her lounging on a plastic covered couch in a typically West-Indian fashioned front- room.

Family pictures hung on the wall, fringe lamps and lace covered cabinets are hard-to-miss symbols that suggest Jorja is kicking it back at her Grandma’s. It’s charming to see the video unapologetically paying homage to the artist’s Jamaican roots and romanticising British immigrant culture.

This reverence is continued throughout the video. The beat driving the song is reminiscent of cool calypso melodies divergent in pace from her first album. Smith even sings certain verses in a patois dialect, undeniably giving off RiRi vibes.

Smith’s outfits are also a striking element of the video. Her 60s pink and lime Maisie Wilen shift dress, her Louisa Ballou white swimsuit and her Chanel surf scarf worn as a tube top were all stand-outs. Each piece did justice to her ‘thick thighs’ and gave off an effortlessly chic vibe to compliment this summer soundtrack. I, for one, am definitely going to snatch up that clever idea of tying a scarf into a top.

Though the outfits and video aesthetics were impressive, what particularly caught my eye (if I’m being honest) were the eye-looks adorning her lids throughout the video. Her glossy eyes would most definitely turn heads as well as the electric blue cat-wing (my personal favourite) worn as she nonchalantly jet-skis through London’s streets.

In fact, this look is getting some attention. You only have to scroll through Instagram to stumble across makeup artists like Sarah Feingold (@sarah.feingold) who incorporates this refreshing trend into their everyday look. Pat McGrath’s makeup looks gracing Valentino’s Fall 2019 runway also serves as creative stimulus. McGrath’s self-confessed ‘futuristic’ eye- looks encased the eye with violent purples and soft lavenders and pushes us to be unafraid to experiment, as does Jorja.

Overall, ‘Be Honest’ teaches us that there is no need to feel pressured to remain the same. Smith’s evolution and developments in her aesthetic and musical style highlights how she is unafraid to metamorphize and experiment with a different sound and look. She exhibited to her audience that their conception of ‘Jorja’ is not necessarily what should always be expected of her as an artist – Smith succeeds in keeping us on our toes, eagerly awaiting her next release and feeling endlessly inspired.

Want something that really gets under her skin? You’ll have a tough job. Even in the most candid of interviews and photo shoots, Kate Moss remains one of the greatest wonders of the world.

Discovered at 14 in JFK airport by Sarah Doukas, Kate Moss had a look of stark contrast to the models of the moment – Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer…leggy and curvaceous. Shorter than the supers of the 90s with killer cheekbones and a smattering of freckles, the young beauty was labelled the ‘waif’ and the rest is, quite frankly, history. She was an instant hit with every designer and photographer she ever worked with; Galliano, Testino… you know no biggie.

Her signature shoot with Corrine Day was stunningly raw, emanating beauty in a guileless way. Kate Moss was a little girl from Croydon with a big-time attitude paving her way through the industry like it was a piece of calorie-free cake. Over 300 magazine covers later, ties with almost every revered fashion house in the world and her grunge-chic style as her trademark; Kate Moss was embroiled in fashion forever.

Kate is described as simply irresistible. The term ‘Get Mossed’ is her signature move: go out with Kate, stay out with Kate. She won’t let you go home until she’s ready to hang up her dancing shoes. BFFs with Naomi and Christy (Campbell and Turlington, first name terms here ahem) who took her under their wing when she was in the height of her 90s reign, Mossy caused quite a stir in the modelling world. Did we mention she also dated the death-defyingly handsome Johnny Depp? Like Daisy from The Great Gatsby, she is all fun with more heart. And now I need to be her best friend.

Her latest campaign for French fashion house, Equipment, is simply divine. The wondrous pairing of Miss Moss with Daria Werbowy (sa-woooon) is playfully fun-loving yet beautifully intimate. The clothes are undeniably wearable (beach, lunch, cocktails we’re not picky) and the artistry and creativity is down to the models themselves. Letting go of the reigns, Equipment trusted the experience and talent of Moss and Werbowy to make this their most successful campaign yet. Do you know many people who would refuse Kate, Daria, a deserted island and Equipment finery?

Mossy has an exhibition in the Victoria and Albert Museum, a book dedicated to her work with Mario Testino and 20 years of uninterrupted success…was there ever a time when she wasn’t the best at what she does? We can’t seem to fathom it! That Kate Moss contagious smile and raucous sense of humour makes her human, her relentless work ethic makes her superwoman and her innate role of matriarch makes her a heroine. Short skirts and big attitude makes this model one of a kind and one we are proud to call our own.

Kate Moss is the proverbial English rose with just a few thorns to break the stereotypical mould; an institution in her own right. She practically epitomises the 90s; with the exception of a shell suit and Oasis…but then again, she was best friends with Noel Gallagher so she had that one covered.
