It has now been well documented that the pandemic is pushing us towards buying investment pieces. SSENSE’s new drop includes two soon to be iconic pieces of footwear that are perfect pieces to invest in right now. Adidas have just launched their collaboration with Prada, and Timberland have launched a collaboration with Jimmy Choo. Here’s everything you need to know.

Boot season is well and truly stomping its way towards us. Timberland, which have previously collared with Off-White and Supreme The boots are perfect for pandemic dressing, adding a level of model chic to any outfit that you throw on. And if you needed any more reason to get obsessed with these pieces, Timberland are going to be planting a tree for every pair of boots purchased.

The boots come in three styles, two of the designs are in the classic Timberland beige tone, one bears a crystal collar and the other is embossed with gold glitter. My personal favourite is the black boot with gunmetal glitter, which screams chic.

Meanwhile, Prada for Adidas reimagines Adidas’s iconic Superstar trainers. The trainers come in three different colours, black, white and black, and chrome silver and white. This is the second time the two labels have collaborated.

The sneakers come in full grain leather uppers with the Prada logo embossed on the tongue, insole and rear quarter. This is paired with bold Adidas branding at the tongue and heel, as well as the signature three stripes which are on the sidewalls. The trainers have been crafted at Prada’s Montegranaro facility in Italy, where roughly 100 employees have hand guided each pair of sneakers through a process which induces 100 steps. These new sneakers amalgamate the classic aesthetics with a chic on trend revamping. The two brands are a match made in icon heaven, and the sneakers are guaranteed to be coveted by everyone.

Charlotte Lawrence is one of our favourite artists of the moment, and probably yours too. The 19 years old singer who was born and raised in L.A is carving her path with catchy pop melodies and relatable lyrics. Her music is the perfect getaway from reality, with a laid-back style and her enchanting voice she creates songs that make a difference.

It isn’t uncommon to see artists using their music to share a message, but Charlotte redefined the use of art as a form of social expression and is shifting the music landscape. She believes that an artist has to create content that represents the times that we live in and respects this with every single one of her creations while combining it with sounds that stand out from the usual pop melody.

When looking into her biggest inspirations it’s interesting to see how much they can vary, from fashion ones being Shia Lebouf and Jonah Hill to her music ones including Prince and Damien Rice. This diversity is reflected in both her music and her persona. She is a modern pop star who’s not afraid of trying things out, and this kind of inspires us to do the same. Her style can vary from innocent and romantic to transgressive and rebellious, challenging the idea of a single and monotone genre, but the amazing part is that it remains genuine, always matching her character and feelings.

Reasonably so, her music has gone viral worldwide, charting everywhere from the United States to France and being featured in blockbuster movies like ‘Birds of Prey’ and Netflix series ‘ 13 Reasons Why’. But everything started with her EP ‘Young’ released in 2018 with songs like ‘Sleep Talking’ that made us all fall in love with the artist but even more with her creative process. You would expect that an artist with such incredible work goes through the most complicated and nerve-wracking creative process but Charlotte describes it otherwise, she finds inspiration from the simplest things and gathers up her ideas in the most traditional of ways. “A guitar, a pencil, a paper, and Facetime call” is all that she needs to come up with her hit songs, as recently explained in an interview with V Magazine.

Charlotte is one of those artists that’s not afraid of opening up in her music. Whether it’s about her experience with love as in “Why Do You Love Me” or regarding the current state of our world and the contribution of our decisions as in “God Must Be Doing Cocaine” she always has something to say and the best part is that we can easily identify with it. That’s a vital element for her, something that she has recurrently made clear is that what she looks for in every song and most of her favourite artists, no matter the genre, is meaning, every song needs lyrics that matter and express something. They’re songs that help you stop and think and represent the right change from superficial and commercial music.

Her collaborations perfectly prove this, having worked with YUNGBLUD, Kaskade, JP Saxe, and many others. We can assure you that even if you’re not a fan of pop music you might fall in love with at least one of her songs, her vision, or with her as an artist overall. So we suggest you check out her latest single “Slow Motion” and its cinematic music video, that tease her upcoming album and prove that even under quarantine and a global crisis there’s always a way to create, and nothing will distance her from creating music that matters.
