If there is a brand that can make us believe in fantasy, it is certainly Schiaparelli. A house born not
from elegance but from provocation, wit, and the refusal to behave. Under Daniel Roseberry, that
instinct has sharpened into something closer to controlled excess: couture that behaves less like
clothing and more like wearable art. A relic, an homage to Elsa, a love letter to fashion. This season
in Paris, Schiaparelli did not whisper nostalgia or gesture politely toward heritage. It staged a
fantasy that felt slightly illicit, faintly dangerous, and intentionally excessive – a world where
ornament becomes narrative and the body becomes architecture. It is what is expected from
Schiaparelli, yet the looks themselves feel beyond any mortal imagination.
The collection unfolded like a dream that refuses to resolve itself into logic. Jewels were
exaggerated beyond function, silhouettes flirted with sculpture, and familiar codes of femininity
were stretched until they became strange again. It was couture as spectacle, but not empty spectacle.

At the heart of the collection stood a figure that felt less like a model and more like a myth: a
narrow black pencil skirt anchoring the body in classical propriety, paired with a flesh-toned bodice
blooming in delicate appliqué flowers — and rising from it, a scorpion-like tail arcing into the air,
poised somewhere between threat and fantasy. The piece carried the theatrical absurdity of
Schiaparelli’s surrealist roots, yet was executed with the seriousness of sculpture. It demanded
engineering, balance, and choreography.


This tension between elegance and unease, beauty and danger, threaded through the entire
collection. Roseberry understands that couture today must function on multiple frequencies at once:
it must seduce the eye, ignite digital circulation, and still reward close inspection. His silhouettes
begin with classical discipline — pencil skirts, corseted torsos, controlled proportions – before being
disrupted by something impossible: an appendage, an exaggerated jewel, a surreal intervention that
fractures the illusion of normalcy.

The motifs felt deliberately loaded. References to historic jewels and royal ornamentation echoed
through the collection, not as reverence, but as exaggeration. Pearls, diamonds, and metallic forms
were inflated into theatrical symbols — relics of power transformed into wearable myth. Rather
than restoring history, Roseberry distorted it, pushing luxury toward fantasy rather than
preservation. There was also a sense of courtly imagery beneath the surface: echoes of Spanish
infanta portraits, rigid silhouettes that imply control, hierarchy, and performance. Yet these
references were never romanticised. They were destabilised — innocence edged with menace,
refinement sharpened into spectacle. Even beauty here carried teeth.

Schiaparelli’s longstanding fascination with the body as a hybrid creature. The wearer becomes
part-human, part-object, part-myth. What made the collection resonate was not simply its visual
audacity, but its emotional clarity. In a fashion climate increasingly obsessed with restraint,
minimalism, and quiet luxury, Schiaparelli offered maximalism with intelligence. Not noise for
noise’s sake, but ornament as narrative, excess as language. Where many houses are currently
whispering about refinement, Schiaparelli chooses to speak in metaphors, symbols, and theatrical
exaggeration.

Yet even within the surreal madness, control was evident. The chaos was engineered. Behind every
dramatic gesture lived discipline: precise tailoring anchoring the silhouettes, careful weight
distribution allowing sculptural elements to exist without collapsing into costume, handwork that
elevated fantasy into craft. The house continues to demonstrate that spectacle, when properly
constructed, can be intellectually rigorous. Couture, in this context, becomes less about aspiration
and more about authorship. These garments are not designed to blend into wardrobes or trend
cycles. They exist as statements — collectable pieces meant to be passed through generations.
The front row amplified this logic. Celebrities arrived already wearing pieces from the collection,
collapsing runway, styling, and viral distribution into a single moment. Schiaparelli no longer waits
for editorial interpretation; it designs for immediate cultural circulation. The garment is
simultaneously couture object and media artifact.


This collection was not about wearability or seasonal relevance. It was about presence. About
creating garments that feel like encounters rather than products. About reminding fashion that
beauty can still be strange, that elegance can still provoke, that fantasy can still feel dangerous.

Schiaparelli’s Spring/Summer 2025 Haute Couture collection, titled Icarus, opened Paris Couture Week with a magnificent display of innovation and craftsmanship that left the fashion world in awe. Inspired by the Greek myth of Icarus, whose tragic flight towards the sun symbolises the dangers of ambition, creative director Daniel Roseberry’s latest offering embraces both risk and reward. Far from a cautionary tale, Icarus embodies Roseberry’s own “quest for perfection” in haute couture, challenging modern ideas of simplicity by leaning into opulence, extravagance, and dramatic silhouette construction.

Roseberry’s collection asks a provocative question: Can modern fashion be baroque, extravagant, and layered, or is minimalism the only way forward? With this, he set out to reshape the idea of modernity by fusing the past with the future. His vision was clear: to create couture that feels new, despite drawing on the lessons of legendary designers such as Yves Saint Laurent, Charles Frederick Worth, and Azzedine Alaïa. The result was a stunning mix of antique influences and futuristic forms, with exaggerated hourglass shapes and structures that seemed to defy the laws of fashion.

The collection’s focus on sculptural, almost architectural silhouettes was undeniable. Corseted dresses, voluminous hips, and exaggerated peplums were framed by crinoline-like structures that flared dramatically as the models moved. This sense of grandeur and high fashion was further amplified by the use of metallic fabrics, antique-inspired ribbons, and intricate pleating that evoked the craftsmanship of fashion’s golden ages.

At the heart of Icarus was a celebration of complex construction and embellishment. Models strutted down the runway in couture creations that embodied Roseberry’s vision of maximalism—rich fabrics of tulle, silk, and lace glimmered under the lights in a colour palette of muted nudes, dusty greens, and saffron browns. This was a world of sculptural garments where the exaggerated waistlines and dramatic trains seemed to reach for the heavens themselves, perfectly capturing the ambition of Icarus.

Signature pieces, such as Kendall Jenner’s heavily boned corset dress in pearl grey satin, made an unforgettable impact. The dress, with its sculpted train, perfectly balanced elegance with the boldness of couture’s tradition. Meanwhile, Mona Tougaard’s look seemed to transcend the runway entirely, with a look described as art-like and mesmerising. The main topic of conversation was Tougaard’s look, with many questioning where her waist had gone, and some even going so far as to suggest that it should be Zendaya’s next red-carpet look. Also notable was Alex Consani’s opera coat, a sensual creation adorned with feathers and designed to be worn off the shoulder, creating an elegant yet seductive silhouette.

Throughout the show, Schiaparelli’s hallmark craftsmanship was evident, from the intricate corsetry to the visible and invisible padding that created “impossible” silhouettes. The attention to detail was extraordinary, with pearls, beads, jacquard, and velvet forming a rich tapestry of textures that adorned each piece.

Brenda was seen in a natural ‘woke up like this’
complexion with a gorgeous berry lip. The low-

Amongst the renowned guests was actress Elizabeth Debicki, well known for her portrayal of Princess Diana in the famous Netflix series “The Crown,” graced the occasion with her elegant demeanour, reflecting the perfect example of regal sophistication. ]]> Schiaparelli has just showcased its highly anticipated Haute Couture 2024 collection in an incredibly captivating runway show.  The event was held in a glamorous venue, setting the stage for an evening of beauty and artistic expression. The show started with a bang as the models started to head down the catwalk in extravagant silhouettes. The array of shapes and detail was very typical of Schiaparelli, however how they did it this time is entirely new for them. 

The entire vibe of the collection was almost alienlike. It was so futuristic and featured beautiful intricate beading and detail – making it appear as far more wearable art than clothing. One of the more shocking parts of the show that had us all on the edge of our seat was the bedazzled robot baby being carried down the catwalk by one of the models. The brand teased this prior to the show by posting what appeared to be a bedazzled inside of a computer on their Instagram reels which translated to not only the robot, but multiple of the other looks throughout the show, the use of green, key like features, calculators and retro phones and CD’s gives this futuristic look that is just so Schiaparelli.

In an interview with Vogue, creative director Daniel Roseberry discussed how the backlash the brand received from the media on some of their recent celebrity stylings has affected how he went about this collection. For example, Kylie Jenner with the life-sized lion head on her shoulder being slated for how much it looked like something that would be sported in the Hunger Games “capital” as well as upsetting some animal rights activists. He stated, “It’s just made me dig deeper into the parts of myself that feel like the most tender, the most childlike,” and continued to say “I think of this as in music—like in an album where you have all these different references being mixed together. And then the composite is something that feels really original, a handwriting that feels unique to the house.”

Some other pieces we adored were the structured jacket made of belts. The almost feather like keyhole dress that went all the way over the models head – not without adding lashes onto the front of it which gives us real déjà vu to Doja Cats shocking look at the Schiaparelli show last year in which she was covered head to toe in 30,000 red Swarovski crystals. At the time everyone was saying she could have killed that look if only she’d worn eyelashes – it appears Schiaparelli took note.

Some of the materials used are almost impossible to even place because they look so unique like the bubble looking sleeves and feature looking fabrics. The structured silk cream suit was another of our favourites. It was the perfect juxtaposition between strong and delicate, masculine and feminine. Some of the looks also had a western look to them like the fringed blouse paired with a burgundy belted skirt and matching boot. The fringe made a feature on a lot of the looks throughout the show, we specifically loved the fringe on the exaggerated shoulders.

Two of our favourite IT girls Zendaya and Hunter Schafer were sat together front row. Zendaya stepped out to drop jaws with her debut of some cutting-edge baby bangs that fit perfectly with the other worldly aspects of the Schiaparelli show. The bangs being pointed in the middle gave Zendaya a pixie like and almost villain look that we are obsessed with. She sported these micro bangs with an all-black ensemble and some iconic red bottoms to compete the look.  Hunter Schafer also smashed it out the park with a beautiful statement gold flower necklace that we can see becoming a 2024 jewellery staple. Paired with a sleek black sweet heart necked gown and a slicked back bun.

]]> Last night, tensions were high as the fashion world awaited Schiaparelli’s new collection after last season’s faux animal head debacle. Guests arrived in Paris expecting to see an haute couture spring show. Instead, they were treated to an experience more reminiscent of an art gallery inauguration than a fashion runway. Daniel Roseberry stayed true to the surrealist designs that have turned the brand into an A-lister favourite since his 2019 creative takeover, only this time he piled them full of references to the art world. Unlike the past few years, the focus wasn’t on creating head-turning moments; it was about proving that Schiaparelli belongs just as much in an art museum as on a runway.

An argument in favour of the everpresent is-couture-art-or-not debate has always been Schiaparelli’s otherworldly designs. And this boundary-bending, dramatic 2023 collection has proven to be another winning point for the affirming side.

How could it not be, with each of the thirty looks inspired by avant-garde artists?

The appropriately named ‘And The Artists’ collection was filled with artistic references from different schools and eras that, although not inherently connected, flowed together seamlessly because of their shared values: the craftsmanship and sense of wonder that characterizes the fashion house.

After the past few streamlined collections we’ve seen from Roseberry, this decision to reinterpret the maison’s codes in a maximalist way was a refreshing excitement.

“The last season was so reduced, I really wanted the focus to be on techniques, color, and the privilege of being able to create couture,” he declared backstage. “It’s been about going to artists that she [Elsa Schiaparelli] collaborated with, but also artists that I’ve been inspired by—there’s a whole cacophony of references in there.”

One model wore a broken-mirror cardigan and skirt set referencing sculptor Jack Whitten’s mirrored mosaics, while wooden mannequin arms and necklaces were a nod to Alberto Giacometti. Another model was hand painted in brushstrokes reminiscent of Lucian Freud, and a faux fur coat imitated the palm fronds from Matisse’s studio. Yves Klein’s signature cobalt blue was a constant sight, covering everything from lapped mini skirts to models’ skin. With nods to Jack Whitten, Sarah Lucas, Salvador Dalí, and Joan Miró, the show proved that Roseberry’s Schiaparelli deserves that place next to these artists’ work in a museum.

The female anatomy wasn’t overshadowed by the collection’s artistry, either, with gilded ears in beaded clasps and peep-toed pumps keeping the trend alive. Since his arrival, Roseberry’s focus on feminine silhouettes and craft-like accessories has thrown the fashion house into the spotlight that Elsa Schiaparelli always wanted it to occupy. It is this commercial success that allowed him to break free from the head-to-toe formulas that the founder frequented, opting instead to find freedom in separates. Elsa’s own granddaughter, Vittoria Marisa Schiaparelli Berenson, seemed to approve from her seat on the front row.

“These are pieces a woman can assemble however she wants,” Roseberry wrote in the presentation’s notes. “Most of the ‘looks’ you see here were put together in the days leading up to this show. This approach felt like a Surrealist’s interpretation of a woman’s essential closet.”

He wanted to create ‘an impossible wardrobe’– and it’s safe to say he succeeded. The show was contrasted by modernized classic shapes like beaded silver shawls and physics-defying little black dresses that promise many viral red-carpet moments in our future. Cardi B, Tracee Ellis Ross, Gwendoline Christie, Chiara Ferragni, and Emily in Paris‘ Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu were on the front row, so we won’t be surprised if they’re among the celebrities donning some of these looks hereafter.

When thinking of Schiaparelli, one can’t help but think of fine art, divine craftsmanship, and surrealism. So Roseberry’s embrace of this connection to create a couture collection is just what the brand needed after all the negativity from last season. The ‘And The Artists’ show hasn’t just redeemed the house– it has also put to bed any doubt that couture isn’t an art form.

This transgression against her usual minimalist styling highlights the return of yet another 2000s trend, the statement belt.

]]> A couple of weeks ago fashion’s favourite Hailey Bieber attended the OBB Studios opening party in an all-black Schiaparelli look, but there was a particularly un-Hailey aspect to the outfit. Hailey Bieber is known for her love of minimal and classic style, but the star of her Schiaparelli look was the statement belt that was cinched around her waist. This transgression against her usual minimalist styling highlights the return of yet another 2000s trend, the statement belt.

While the early 2000s loved making a belt the central focus of their outfit (especially a thick high-waisted number) the accessory seemed to fall off our radar for a few years in the mid-late 2010s. The belt was almost forgotten about, treated as a ‘boring’ or practical element of an outfit rather than as an accessory. However, the past few years have seen a resurgence in the use of belts in a variety of different forms. While these trend pieces may not always take the form of a traditional belt, they prove one thing, the statement belt did not die it simply evolved.

Statement Belts

Both Schiaparelli and Louis Vuitton allowed extremely oversized belts take centre stage in their SS23 collections. The statement belts truly channelled the mid-late 2000s wide and high waisted belt. The sparkling gold hardware seemed reminiscent of the ‘bling-bling’ y2k era and combined with the excessive width of the belts to truly make this accessory central to the look. Louis Vuitton even went as far to debut a dress where the entire mid-riff was contained by a belt buckle.

Buckle Print

Louis Vuitton did not only feature statement belts in its SS23 collection, but it also made buckles the statement pattern for its non-belted items. This serves to prove that belts have truly transitions beyond their useful history into the realm one of fashion’s favourite trends, making formally helpful items completely impractical, and we love it.

The Bare-Waist and Belt Combo

Louis Vuitton really knew that belts were the accessory of 2023 and so also made them a key feature in their 2023 Resort collection. Channelling their inner Carrie Bradshaw, the collection featured various looks that had a thin belt placed over a bare waist. This served to show that the belt need not be a particularly out-there design if styled in an alternative fashion. While some despaired over this styling decision, it is a really interesting way to play with the dimensions and proportions of your outfit. And ultimately, all it takes is for Bella Hadid to sport this look (which we think she should) and it’ll be everyone’s favourite new styling trend.

Belt Bags

Want a way to spice-up an age-old accessory? Turn it into a completely different accessory. And that is the story of how Hodakova’s belt bag was born. Hodakova plays with belting across its designs from tops to dresses, but their ever-sold-out buckle bag is their most popular item. The heavily buckled bag has been seen on the arm of Kylie Jenner and just like anything she wears, has been impossible to track down since.

Belt Skirts

Diesel’s AW22 show was filled to the brim with re-imagined denim, but the most popular item from this show was not denim at all. It was their take on the micro-mini that had us all going wild. The thick belt worn as a skirt truly re-invented the belt and helped to place it back on the map whilst adding a twist to the micro-mini trend. However, the belt-skirt is not limited to the deceptive look of wearing a belt as a skirt, Hodakova have also been pioneering the belt skirt with their heavily buckled belt that appears to be made of various belts woven together.

Belt Tops

 Miu Miu played a huge part in the resurgence of the statement belt. In particular its belted mini-skirt co-ord that took to the runway in their SS22 collection. While the look debuted a couple of years ago, it is not going anywhere as Miu Miu continues to evolve this look spanning from formal attire on Elsa Hosk to the utility-inspired bralet worn by Kendall Jenner in their latest campaign. While the belt-top may be a Miu Miu staple, the look has also been adopted by other designers including Hodakova, the designer behind the viral belt bag, and Diesel who have riding the belt trend out since the success of their belt micro-mini skirt.

Double Belting

Another belt trend that Miu Miu loves is the double belting trend, seen on the likes of Bella Hadid the double belt is taking over street-style. From preppy school-girl looks to a baggy dad jean, the double belt adds a point of interest to any outfit.

]]> Paris Fashion Week is doing what it does best- captivating an audience from around the world as it produces spectacle after spectacle. Paris is not playing or wasting time. The four days of Haute Couture fashion began showing straight off the back of Paris Men’s in a seamless transitional style. But what did we expect? Paris has been the emperor of the fashion world since the concept of fashion was invented. If there’s one week to look to for the high end trends, it’s Paris Haute Couture.

Moments

Expected fashion icons such as Anna Wintour are of course in attendance at the shows, as well as special celebrity guests. So far we have seen Doja Cat embroidered head-to-toe in crystals and Kylie Jenner in a fierce faux fur. Doja was glistening at every angle as she showed her allegiance with Schiaparelli. A moment constructed of 30,000 Swarovski crystals and red body paint, the surrealist beauty of the look was undeniably iconic.

Kylie Jenner also gave us all a moment to discuss in her Haute Couture Schiaparelli. The lion head which was sculpted from foam, silk faux fur and wool, will definitely be going down in fashion history.

Schiaparelli

A fierce show was put on by the legendary French house, Schiaparelli. No surprise, Schiaparelli’s show has given us the biggest moment of the Haute Couture Week… so far. In the early days of the brand’s legacy, controversial and surrealist designs pushed fashion attitudes to develop and modernise. Daniel Roseberry, creative director of the Haute Couture house took this in his stride and got the crowds wild with his fake taxidermy pieces.

Shining a light on the controversial use of fur in the fashion industry, he certainly made a talking piece in the media with his ensemble of wild animals going down the runway. Not only did spectators see the incredibly high fashion lion dress on model Irina Shayk, but also on front row attendee, Kylie Jenner. A moment which has already gone viral on various platforms, the spectacle got everyone talking about Schiaparelli. However, not in the ways they intended. Controversy arose as animal lovers labelled the brand as ‘promoting poaching and animal cruelty’. As Roseberry defended his faux fashion pieces as ‘celebrations of nature’, PETA stepped in to support the fashion looks and their symbolism.

The collection, of course, consisted of more than the iconic trio- the lion, the leopard and the wolf. Hyper-feminine silhouettes which were adapted from traditional menswear was a strong theme running throughout the collection. The extremely low v-cut tuxedo and glamorous black gowns were signature Schiaparelli style. Roseberry has managed to effortlessly capture the brand’s elegant and luxurious origins even in the 21st Century.

Iris Van Herpen

Designer, Iris Van Herpen, envisioned a sensationally touching and proactive display, which was executed magnificently. The SS23 Haute Couture collection, Carte Blanche, was divinely inspired and came to life in collaboration with French creative Julie Gautier. The film was a feminist masterpiece, which tried to shed light on the global strength of women, especially the ongoing resilience of Iranian women. Choosing to show the clothing submerged in deep water was a powerful creative choice which symbolized the external struggles women face in their existence. Water also takes away the voice and ability to hear those consumed under the surface, which is another reference to women’s protest and suffering. The performance was beautifully breath-taking on the surface, however, understanding the meaning behind, transformed the film into a stunningly poignant and touching piece of work.

Known for fluidly constructed designs the Haute Couture collection evolved beautifully from the previous, Meta Morphism, collection. The slow movements of the models brought the clothing to life as it swirled and danced in the motions of the water. The fantastical and SCI-FY nature of the clothing was emphasized in the foreign and unnatural landscape of the film. The beautiful and hyper-feminine styles were captivating as they moved through the water like they belonged, like a mythical and majestic sea creature. The gorgeous organic silk fabrics entangled the dancers, which embraced the restraints and confinements imposed on women. The red corset design worn by Julie Gautier featured red synthetic and real human hair as an emblem of freedom.

Chanel

A Parisian favourite managing to keep on top of the game, ahead of the trends and in the forefronts of our minds. As relevant as they were when they started their sensational journey in the 20th century, Chanel returns every year to showcase their Haute Couture in their home city. The atmosphere of a Chanel show is exclusive and chic. This year for their SS23 Haute Couture, expectations slowly built as soft music began to play. In a circus styled layout, large wooden animal statues were wheeled out. The curiosity blossomed as Camels, elephants and mice all appeared in the form of the overbearing sculptures.

Not was all it seemed for spectators. Grand entrances erupted as one by one, runway models emerged from the wooden sculptures, in true Troy essence. However, these gifts gave us attacks of fashion as opposed to the attack of soldiers. Adhering to the subtle circus themes underlying the collection, the first look to step foot on the runway was suggestive of a ringleader. Kitted in a top-hat and white military parade jacket, the look set the scene for what was to come. Styles incorporated the charming playfulness of circus bowties and majorette silhouettes. This being said, the collection was distinctively Chanel. Classic Chanel styles, black-tipped shoes and tweeds, featured within the SS23 set of looks, importantly reinforcing the roots and heritage of the house. Other classic Chanel distinctions were transformed for the collection to embody the sign of the times. A-line bodices were enriched with tulle ruffles, suit jackets were paired with miniature skirts and styled with bowties and top hats. Embroidered pieces and pearls made their way on to the runway as well, which we were glad to see as they are a symbol of the late designer.

]]> All hail Queen Bey, not only did Beyoncé surprise the world with her long-awaited seventh studio album ‘Renaissance’ but she also served killer looks that were well worth the wait.

Dropped on 29th July, six years since her last solo release, the 16-track album is the soundtrack to our hot girl summer filled with diva dance anthems that has us drunk in love.

The Grammy award-winning singer wrote on Instagram: “My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”

The diverse album art shot by Mason Poole and styled by Marni Senofonte and KJ Moody, Beyoncé’s personal stylist, the artist dons Mugler, Schiaparelli, Gucci, Alaïa and Philipp Plein, among other designers proved that Beyoncé really is that girl as she served high-fashion looks fit for a queen. From heavenly get-ups to dangerously sexy fits, here are the top flawless looks that have us crazy in love.

For the album cover, Beyoncé looked like an alien superstar as she slayed on a glistening silver horse wearing barely-there custom Nusi Quero body armour along with long locks and a dark eye look.

Shining bright under a disco ball, the pop icon wore a Gucci Love Parade gown by creative director Alessandro Michele with Wolford’s Individual 10 Stay Ups tights and metallic silver lips.

Beyoncé brought the bold energy in this custom Maison Alaia strapless black knit catsuit with statement fluffy boots.

Looking heavenly in a halo, Queen Bey posed in a golden bodysuit and matching halo by Melissa Simon-Hartman paired with thigh-high Philipp Plein 24k gold boots and a gold statement lip.

Channelling another pop icon Madonna’s cone bra, Beyoncé wore a Haute Couture Schiaparelli black leather moulded bustier along with stockings and statement earrings.

Looking licensed to kill in custom Mugler, Beyoncé wore a silver metal bustier shining under a black gathered dress with silver cuffs, black Jimmy Choo Anouk pointed-toe pumps and a killer beehive.

In this psychedelic shot, Beyoncé posed in a black and white swirl bodysuit with matching earrings, leather gloves and sunglasses.

With this being the first of a three-act project, we can’t wait to see more from Queen Bey…
