]]> The London Fashion Week has continued to deliver us with fresh new styles as brands are showcasing their latest collections whether it is online or physical. They are giving us a glimpse of their lines for 2022 and even though we have just said goodbye to summer it does not mean we can’t get a taste of the sun from these collections. 

Supriya Lele

Rising star Supriya Lele kicked off Monday with her show at the Old Selfridges Hotel. Even though it was an early start, each seat was filled with an eager audience member waiting to see what this new collection had to offer. Her work consistently reflects her own Indian heritage alongside her British cultural identity as both combined reflect a cross-cultural point of view. This can be seen as she worked with artisans from India to make use of delicate fabrics such as the mesh materials used across her line repeatedly. Also, within her collection were looks ready to dance the nights away with vivid cut-out dresses and sparkling netted skirts ready to make a statement of sass. Orange halter neck tops and turquoise mesh 3/4 lengths were modelled beautifully, reflecting the revival of Y2K trends often seen within Supriya Lele’s collections. 

Roksanda

Roksanda showcased their collection at Serpentine Pavilion which acted as the perfect venue with its picturesque stone structure as the backdrop to their powerful collection. There was an explosion of colour within the show as Roksanda’s iconic pink hues and colour blocking made an appearance, as well as vivid yellows and fluorescent greens. The collection came alive through dance as the show took a theatrical approach to display its voluminous shapes as the routine represented the true artistic features of her designs. It was a vision of beauty as it remained sophisticated but playful. The collection encapsulated the intense emotions of the last 18 months, including happiness, anger, and love. Key pieces of the show included silk gowns and patchwork oversized suiting as well as showcasing menswear for the first time. 

Osman Studio

Osman Yousefzada created all his looks with fully biodegradable fabric and represented sustainability in style as he showcased these lavish pieces within Amazonico in Mayfair. The rainforest theme reflected how Osman was planting a tree in the Amazon Forest for every guest at the show. The collection featured silk ruffle detailing as well as extravagant Pakistani wedding jewellery with influences from the Indian subcontinent. Mesh catsuits and mirrored fabric dresses also made an appearance. 

Chet Lo

This fashion week has been great for exploring designers’ collections we all know and love, but it has also been a time to discover up and coming designers like Chet Lo. His swimwear inspired collection featured Lo’s signature spike knit material which was used across all his clothing items, including cut-out one-pieces and cold shoulder dresses, as well as, on the accessories including textured heels and over the knee leg warmers. This aquatic theme also involved rubber pool noodles wrapped around the models’ shoulders and swimming hats – who thought you could make swimwear this chic? Chet Lo delivered us a standout show that will not be forgotten. 

Simone Rocha

Simone Rocha stunned her audience as they gathered in the church of St Bartholomew to view her collection that was inspired by the concept of bringing a baby into the world and her maternal instincts. It reflected new life and beginnings as the models were draped in layers of white with lace and broderie details. Accessorized with pearls and satin ribbons the show was a vision of elegance. The texture of the clothing was also a prominent part of the show as it was the first physical show of hers in a while and she wanted her audience to examine the details of her pieces intensely. There were voluminous sleeves and layered, puffy styled skirts as well as pops of colour including bold reds. 

Toga

Toga’s new spring/summer collection took a smart approach at LFW as suit co ords and blazers were styled for an office chic look. Toned down abstract patterns and graphic imagery was also featured on many of the clothing pieces giving them a unique twist. Midi length dresses also filled the runway gracefully with ruffle detailing and some with distinct image prints. 

Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY

LOVERBOY is a label that has originated from the dance floor as its roots are connected to the queer nightlife scene. Each show the brand puts on is a masterpiece as it explores diversity and identity which is seen through the choice of models and dramatic clothing. ‘Dressing up’ and the tool of make-up is a focal point of the brand’s individuality as they view fashion as a form of art. The runway stretched down a nightclub with neon lights and upbeat music, bringing clothing to life in an enjoyable and unique way.

]]> As New York Fashion Week came to a close, it did not mean that our fashion fix ended there, as London Fashion Week came around the corner in full swing. With the return of physical shows, we were able to see street styles re-appear as the streets were finally flooded with fashionable outfits once again. From layered up looks to co-ords, there have been endless streams of outfit inspiration. Here are our favourite looks from the past week that we are loving and are perfect for the upcoming autumn months. 

Sabrina Elba

Sabrina Elba rocked the double denim look during LFW in this all-black attire which included a contrast stitch that brightened up the outfit slightly and outlined the stylish details of the shirt and trousers. Paired with a gold chained black bag and gold jewellery, as well as slicked-back hair, it was a sophisticated look. 

Olivia and Alice Minns

Influencers Olivia and Alice brightened up the streets of London in their carefully colour-coordinated outfits. Embracing the autumnal brights, they both made a vivid statement in these vibrant trench coats; with Olivia on the left in a gorgeous orange leather trench styled with a lilac piece and accessories, mirrored Alice’s colour-swapping outfit. Both shades majorly complimented each other as who would have thought these two daring colours would be the perfect match! The pair also wore braid-detailed heeled mules which gave the outfits an elegant finish. 

Caroline Ebo

Caroline Ebo jumped on the bomber puffer trend during LFW as she pulled off this deep purple collared jacket which contrasted with an intense orange bag as she too pulls off the colour clashing look just like @OliviaandAlice. Of course, Caroline did not forget a statement pair of sunglasses to complete the look; perfect for this autumn as they make a faultless accessory all year round.  

Olivia Deano

Olivia Deano was glowing during the fashion week as she styled this oversized luminous green shirt tucked into a pair of beige linen trousers for the Rejina Pyo show. It was a simple outfit, paired with some chunky cow print boots and a beaded bag. It was a look that stood out.

 Clara Amfo

Clara Amfo also attended the Rejina Pyo show whilst looking chic in this all-monochrome outfit that featured a black and white circular printed dress layered with a black sweater and white Telfar bag. Amfo finished off with some patent chunky loafers that tied the whole outfit together with a classy look. 

Jorja Smith

Jorja Smith was spotted in this custom-made vegan leather suit that featured an oversized knit print as she went all out in full glam. The green hues reflect the key colour of autumn styled with a dazzling bag and a pair of silver heels; it is an unmissable outfit.

Kehlani

Kehlani pulled up in a quirky suit from Erdem’s archive for their LFW show and struck all the right chords of suiting up. The trouser is flared and covers her feet, whereas the blazer variation features a cowled hemline with an extended shoulder. The highlight of the entire look is her monochrome hairstyle with a boyish fringe that complements the outfit. A neat black tie and a mini handbag conclude the entire look.

Two’s better than one, so Kehlani made a striking entry in another archive experimental suit from Osman studios‘ SS20 collection for the designer’s show at the LFW. The double-breasted suit set is tie-dyed in hues of blue and green with a waist-belt and sleeves rolled to perfectly highlight her forearm tattoo. The classic fit trousers is paired with mahogany leather boots that blend in with the outfit.

Dina Asher Smith

Dina Asher-Smith embraced the neutral colour palette in this top and trouser co-ord which go seamlessly together making it easily mistaken for a jumpsuit. The top features 3 / 4 length sleeves and cup detailing on the bust complimenting Dina’s figure and a sweetheart neckline giving this outfit a feminine look whilst also appearing edgy with the tiger-like pattern. Paired with a camel-coloured bag and black heels, it is perfect for a day-to-night look. 

Abby Roberts

TikTok star Abby Roberts decided to sport a striking outfit from David Koma. Neon shades have taken rounds of several events this year from formal events to several street style looks. The polarity from Abby’sher auburn locks and the neon cardigan set seems to fit the Fashion week equation. The cardigan is highlighted with crystal buttons and the outfit is paired with black stockings and glamourized with a chic pair of silver heels and bag.

Betsy Johnson

Betsy Johnson went all black for her attendance at the Fashion East SS 22 show. She sported a black fur coat paired with ripped trousers with lace closure at the seams from Luis De Javier. The Creative director completed her look with a pair of black spiked mule heels.

]]> London Fashion Week has finally returned this year with digital but also live runway shows. We were all beyond excited to see new trends for the spring-summer season and also welcomed back our favourite designers and models to the catwalk. In case you missed anything, here are the highlights of this weekend.

Vivienne Westwood

The new Vivienne Westwood Spring-Summer 2022 collection entitled ‘Save our Souls’ references their 1998 collection ‘Tied to the Mast’. It explores the age of Queen Elizabeth and draws inspiration from the sea, more precisely pirate activities and the changes their clothes underwent during their travels. With this inventive and efficient collection, produced from recycled fabrics, Westwood also wished to raise awareness about current environmental issues: ‘Buy Less, Choose Well, Make it Last!’ – shared the designer on her Instagram post.

David Koma

Koma’s fashion show took place on the opening day of London Fashion Week and brought back the energy and joy of live fashion shows everyone has been craving for. Combining architecture and design with fashion, the collection featured cut out dresses and stretchy attires that looked both sporty and elegant at the same time elegant. Unlike his previous collections, where the colour palette was restricted to white and black with an occasional pop of colour, this time every look was bright and bold. If you’re thinking feathers with leggings or a stretchy dress, this is your vibe!

Paul Costelloe

Inspired by ancient Celtic art, Paul Costelloe’s new Spring/Summer 2022 collection is a reinterpretation of the illuminated manuscript of ‘The Book of Kells’. Drawn to the scrollwork designs and the microscopic detailing of the piece, the designer used printed and woven linen as a medium to evoke the Celtic culture and tradition. All his works are strictly hand-sewn, making all the dresses a piece of fashion masterpiece: beautiful, elegant, and colourful.

Nensi Dojaka

The 2021 LVMH Prize Winner made her solo runway debut this Spring/Summer 2022 season. The Albanian designer kicked off London Fashion Week with a collection that fully encapsulates her aesthetic and style – a fusion between lingerie and casual daywear. Her signature sheer tops with cut-out details and loose-fitted suits reference the 60’s fashion. For the first time, the designer also derived from her usual black palette and went with lighter brown tones, red and green accents, and even pink coral motifs.

Yuhan Wang

Affected by the recent events in the UK such as Sarah Everard’s murder, Wang’s spring collection is a protest to violence against women, inspired by Victorian-era photographs of North American frontiers women who were armed to defend themselves. The looks include floral and horse prints, her signature lacy draped dresses, famous embroidery slippers, and gun handbags. All these details blend well to reflect her suggesting a possible solution to ending violence towards females.

Erdem

Erdem Moralioğlu’s 15th-anniversary show, this time at the British Museum, did not disappoint! The Spring collection was inspired by British poet Dame Edith Sitwell and artist Lady Ottoline Morrell. With wide-brimmed hats and an array of colourful prints, Erdem suggested a resurgence in hat-wearing and perhaps even the 19th and early 20th-century aristocratic fashion. Some of the looks were made from fabrics used in previous seasons, highlighting the brand’s intention to implement sustainable practices.

Rejina Pyo

Rejina Pyo returned to London Fashion Week this season with a triumphant physical uplifting catwalk. Hosted at the London Aquatics Centre, the show was an ode to freedom. The South Korean designer has been tremendously affected by lockdown restrictions and the events of the pandemic on a creative level. The bright colour palette and sexy see-through fabrics she used explore femininity and suggest a summer free spirit everyone is yearning for.

Roland Mouret

Roland Mouret’s new spring/summer collection is all about female empowerment. Featuring Magaajyia Silberfeld Directed by Elias Borst, the short film ‘TERMA’ is a reinterpretation of the Greek myth Ulysses through the perspective of Hera, the female protagonist. Focused on texture and touch, the looks offer loser fit dresses. They transmit a sense of easiness and simplicity – and can be worn everywhere.

KNWLS

KNWLS’ ‘Adrenaline’ collection featured an array of fabrics and styles – from low rise trousers and waist-snatching bustiers to riffs on underwear worn as outwear and webbed trousers fringed with leather tassels. There was also a visible expansion of their colour palette – from earthy tones to ethereal whites and creams, hot pink accessories, and light blue denims. Held in a car-park in Oxford Circus, where the models walked through patches of light made this collection one of the most thrilling shows at London Fashion Week so far.

]]> Last night marked the commencement of London Fashion Week, a celebration of creativity and empowerment that will be taking place over the next five days. Operating as one of the big four international Fashion Weeks, LFW is renowned for its unequaled innovation and responsible business. We can expect to see remarkable designs from over 130 brands showcasing their latest collections, and many familiar faces.

The opening was held at the Windmill Soho, originally known as a 320 seated theatre situated in the epicenter of Soho. The venue became renowned in the 1900s for its extravagant variety of acts, including the first show of nudity on stage. The venue has recently been refurbished into a theatrical dining experience set across three floors, each with a different function; The Theatre, which will act as the main restaurant, The Palais De Luxe, a suave upstairs bar, and The Royal Box, a lavish private room. There is also a speakeasy, which has been named after socialite Mrs. Laura Henderson, the original pioneering proprietor.

With such a prestigious venue, it seems only fair that The British Fashion Council enlisted iconic supermodel Naomi Campbell as co-host of the opening. Naomi stunned the event in a beautiful blue fIoor length gown, highlighting her gorgeous complexion and glowing skin.

The night was complemented with music from Drag Superstar DJ Jodie Harsh, and a surprise performance from Mabel. The venue was filled with talent and famous faces, notable attendees included; Singer Kehlani, Drag icons Gottmik and Tayce, model Munroe Bergdorf, and British rapper Tinie Tempah.

One of our favorite fashion moments from last night was Kehlani’s eye-catching bright green two-piece, which she paired with a slick bun and square sunglasses. We also have to mention Sabrina Dhowre Elba, who wore a gorgeous backless dress, coupled with an updo and face-framing fringe.

London Fashion Week is back, showcasing the best of British fashion from Friday 17th to Tuesday 21st September 2021. The event will take place as a hybrid of both physical and digital shows, featuring an array of talented designers including, Molly Goddard, Simone Rocha, and Supriya Lele who will be presenting their new collections for the season ahead.

The full schedule, which is now available online, includes 105 designers, 41 of whom will be displayed through physical activation, while the remaining 69 will be showcased digitally. A range of different events will be taking place in the form of catwalks, presentations and appointment listings, alongside the digital content which is accessible to everyone and will be available to watch via The LFW digital platform.
