Here, Voir counts down the best street style looks from New York and London’s FW22 shows.

Maya Jama

On her way to David Koma’s show in London, presenter and style icon Maya Jama joked that her checked print blazer and dress co-ord was channelling the style of a ‘mob wife’ in her Instagram caption.

The elegant attire was paired with a dainty white handbag and leather gloves; adding to the dangerous ‘mob-style’ look.

FKAtwigs

Attending the Simone Rocha show, singer FKAtwigs brought all the frills and froth imaginable. In a princess style white gown, the star was a vision of feminine charm as she paired the look with a tiara-style silver headpiece and platform white boots.

Lucy Fernandez

DJ and blogger Fernandez brought sparkly feminine fun to London’s streets this week. The zip-up dress by Eduardo Navarrete saw nostalgic 80s shell suits given a contemporary twist through its vivid purple and blue hues.

Pairing the look with a fuchsia pink Hogan bag; Lucy channelled the 80s barbie of our dreams.

Emma Canot

Continuing the 80s street style glamour on the streets of London; influencer Emma Canot joked her neon green look was reminiscent of the grinch after adorning a green sequin shirt and leather pants under a khaki trench.

The ultra-green look was paired with neon open toe heels and a Jacquemus purse.

Jourdan Dunn

Bringing a contemporary twist to the little black dress, model Jourdan Dunn dressed in a slinky, cut-out dress for Nensi Dojaka’s show which was the epitome of Dojaka’s revealing lingerie-inspired designs.

The model kept accessories to a minimum with black shades, sheer tights, and bow heels to add to the classic all-black attire.

Susie Lau

Styling clashing prints in imaginative ways wasn’t exclusive to designers this fashion week. Fashion writer Susie Lau wrapped up from storm Eunice in a fur coat with a checked print collar over a black and white co-ord and brown Ganni boots.

6Kenza

Also not letting the harsh weather ruin an opportunity for a staggering streetwear look was model Kenza Boutrif. The stunning star paired a cosy cropped puffer with reflective low-rise joggers by Saul Nash. Kenza styled the comfy but chic look with Prada visors and a high shine metal bag.

Tayce

If there’s anyone we can rely on to bring a flamboyant street-style look to London’s streets it’s Welsh drag star Tayce. Matching the ultra- daring and feminine looks of the Poster Girl show where the star sat front row, Tayce matched a silver mini dress with tie-up silver heels, resemblant of iconic Y2K styles like Paris Hilton’s 21st birthday dress.

Anna Trevelyan

With an outfit as bright as her hot pink hair, stylist Anna Trevelyan attended Coach’s show in a purple tee, padded Chanel bag, and orange coach bucket hat under a beige trench, demonstrating that the renaissance of bright clashing colours is upon us.

Candace Marie

Wearing a two-toned green and brown teddy coat with rimless glasses and thick gold earrings, the founder of Black Incorporate, Candace Marie, showed us how to wrap up in style on the streets of New York.

Anahita Moussavian

On the snowy streets of New York, fashion editor Anahita made the surprising combination of sports attire and high fashion glamour.

The fashion expert wore an oversized Supreme baseball jacket, Farella Capri trousers, and an innovative basketball-shaped purse.

Anaa Saber

Blogger Anaa stormed the streets of New York with a 90s-chic look. Wearing a Y2K ultra-mini skirt with padded boots and a 90s pinstripe shirt, Anaa impressively captured elements of the last 30 years of New York street style into one look.

Leonie Hanne

Bringing a zestful look to the streets of London, Leonie covered a cut out black dress with a boxy green blazer and sequinned Prada bag. The daring look was paired with high rise glossy leather boots and smoky-eye glam.

Toga

The Toga show this year had a playful charm about it. Boxy silhouettes and unique combinations graced the show, and a charming use of colours kept things fresh and interesting. There was also a sense of playful gender subversion too, making for a forward thinking show that was a nice way to close out the week.

Feben

A dark elegance graced the catwalk as Feben made its way to the runway. A collection of wonderfully structured dresses, from minimalist everyday pieces that would be perfect for an evening out, to more grandiose garments with lashings of detailing that would be absolute statement pieces strutted down the catwalk together. A signature print motif was present on a number of the dresses adding a sense of cohesion to proceedings and some wonderful pops of colour from two red dresses and coats added a spark of vibrancy to the show.

Yeohlee

A collection that had strong focus on zero-waste techniques and an emphasis on versatility. The message behind Yoehlee’s collection was admirable and translated seamlessly onto the garments themselves. Everyday pieces such as blazers skirts, dresses and coats were displayed with expert craftsmanship and a playful sophistication that added wonderful amounts of personality to them.

The industry’s harmful effect on the environment has been a hot topic for quite some time now so it was great to see a collection show that not only can old fabrics be perfectly repurposed for new garments, but they can look fantastic at the same time too.

Sports Banger

A strong contender for the most high energy show of the season, Sports Banger ensured that the final day of LFW ended with a bang. With dramatic lighting and a serious amount of absolute moves working their way down the catwalk, the clothes of the show were given an absolute stage to be showcased on and they did not disappoint either. A glorious mix of casual leisurewear danced alongside outfits that can only be described as fairytale in nature, with twisty silhouettes, flowing gowns and a show-stopping headpiece which looked like it came straight from Wonderland.

The show and collection were both fiery and passionate, with an attitude and vigor that hadn’t really been seen through the week until this show. What a fiercely charged way to close out the week!

Erdem

Classic fashion glamour walked the runway at Erdem’s show, with refined skirt suits, wonderfully minimalist and elegant overcoats, and dramatic show-stopping dresses with intricate lace detailing aplenty. Despite appearing dark and gothic on the surface, the show drew inspiration from a number of women deeply engrained into Berlin’s progressive spirit of the 1930s. These women were trailblazers in gender fluidity, living their lives as cross-dressers and opening lesbian bars in the midst of war.

The show helped to remind that even in the darkest of times it is ultimately love and expression of oneself that helps to power through and continue living life to the fullest, and this collection of expertly crafted garments pushed the notion even farther.

Rejina Pyo

Taking inspiration from 1920s supper clubs, Rejina Pyo’s collection was a dazzlingly vintage spectacular also taking cues from other more modern eras such as the 1970s and, particularly, from many art deco pieces that were produced in and around that period. Shades of beige were perhaps the most present colours of the show, but in no way did they feel drab, with coats, blazers, dresses, skirts and scarfs awash in the colour feeling delightfully retro and perfectly encapsulating the era from which they were inspired.

Pastel shades of purple, green and yellow added a touch more colour to proceedings in a way which was subtle and meshed well with the abundance of brown and beige. Add in some orange tinted sunglasses and you have a collection that is the epitome of vintage, and that is no bad thing.

Roksanda

If there is one word to describe this season’s Roksanda show, dramatic seems to be the most apt. There was a minimalist start to proceedings with beige jumpsuits and traditional tailoring. The show soon kicked up a gear with an increasing parade of bombastic and bizarre looks that dazzled the audience.

Deep, luscious colours soon began layering on top of each other, before the garments themselves took a huge turn to the theatrical. Huge, billowing dresses in hypnotizing colours walked alongside blazers and skirts with extreme fringing that also looked like they had been plucked straight out of a painting, whilst eventually quite possibly the most dramatic athleisure wear ever created closed out proceedings, with bold geometric prints and colours sitting alongside more traditional athleisure staples like stripes and monochrome colours and the silhouettes of the garments themselves being dramatically oversized with billowing sleeves and enormous coats. This was a true fashion journey.

If a Tim Burton movie were ever to jump off of the big screen and on to the catwalk THIS is what it would look like. A jaw-droppingly gothic spectacle which leaned hard into the theatrics and dramatics, whilst also taking inspiration cues from the 1980s pop punk culture of the UK, with bands such as New Romantics and Blitz Kids absolutely being present in spirit in this collection.

All of the hallmarks of classic punk were present: leather jackets blazoned with prints, ridiculously oversized blazers with colour blocking and paneling, and a vivid palette of reds and blacks often combined with vertical stripes to really finish the aesthetic off to a tee. The more gothic elements were present in the forms of swaying lace frocks, extravagant floral prints atop bomber jackets and dresses, and furry boots that were, perhaps, more fur than boot. Striking and beautiful performances were also displayed throughout the show making this theatrical bonanza one of the most spectacular and memorable shows of the season so far.

Edeline Lee

Minimalism is at the heart of Edeline Lee’s latest collection. Whilst a theatrical extravaganza is always a joy to behold, so is having a stripped back collection which really emphasises the meticulous care and attention to detail which goes into producing clothes. Minimalist in colour, with slick monochromes and warming browns, and minimalist in nature, with traditional tailoring of jackets, dresses, skirts and coats on display, this delightfully sophisticated collection strips fashion back to its core in a way which doesn’t feel stale, but instead warming and nurturing.

Simone Rocha

Atmosphere has certainly been a strong point of shows this year and Simone Rocha was no exception to that, producing a show and collection inspired by traditional Irish horror story ‘Children of Lir’. The gloomy atmosphere of London’s inn of Court served as an excellent backdrop to the collection which featured an array of classically gothic inspired pieces, with hallmarks such as gloriously large frilly dresses and dramatic lashings of black lace. It’s easy to tell that inspiration for this show came from a horror tale because this show was scarily good.

David Koma

Fashion and football aren’t two subjects that you think of crossing over very often, but that doesn’t matter to David Koma, whose focus on British culture for his collection led him down the pathway of the country’s most popular sport. Having recently become a British citizen, Koma looked towards British player Lily Parr who played during the 20s and 30s as the source of inspiration for this show. None of this means that the collection was dressed down though, far from it, as Koma’s signature use of crystals lay sparkling atop gloriously dramatic thigh high boots, seductive slip dresses and even traditional striped rugby shirts. This unusual combination of high-end glamour and sports culture has created a collection that won’t soon be forgotten and gives more reason to combine the unexpected to create something truly exciting.

Yuhan Wang

Titled Venus in Furs, one of the main sources of inspiration behind thus Yuhan Wang collection was none other than her cat Misty, who even made an appearance on the catwalk being carried by one of the models. Considering the inspiration, this collection was unsurprisingly sophisticated yet delightfully playful at the same time. Big bold prints ranging from florals to cat faces were a constant down the runway, adorning elegant streamlined dresses, meticulously tailored jackets and skirts and lavish faux fur coats that would have Cruella de Vil herself in complete hysterics.

16Arlington

In November last year, one half of 16Arlington, Federica “Kikka” Cavenati, passed away aged only 28. Due to such a sad and tragic loss you would forgive her partner Marco Capaldo for putting fashion to the side and stepping away for the season. He did no such thing however, seeing the opportunity as a way to keep Cavenati’s spirit as both a person and a designer alive. 16Arlington is known for its dancefloor ready DNA and Capaldo was able to honour both the brand’s image and his partner’s legacy by creating a collection that was ethereal, beautifully sophisticated and, most importantly, full of life. Minimalist pieces such as tailored jackets, dresses and skirts bathed in cool greys walked alongside more extravagant looks sporting huge turquoise furs, crushed velvet jumpsuits and tie-dyed two pieces. The show was a truly refined celebration of life that served as a wonderful tribute to Cavenati.

Chet Lo

Part of the Fashion East collective, Chet Lo made a bombastically bubblegum appearance at this year’s LFW with a collection washed in a sea of pastel blues, pinks, greens and whites. While the colour palette was undeniably cutesy, the clothes themselves were packed with a punch thanks to the wonderfully over the top adornment of spikes across boots, bags, dresses and even earmuffs. With a small number of furs also thrown in to soften proceedings up a little this collection echoed the styles of futuristic fashion you would see in media from the 60s, making the collection both a vintage and futuristic delight.

Maximilian Davis

For his final show for the Fashion East collective, the LVMH nominated Maximilian Davis curated a show that was dripping with the sleek and sophisticated Y2K inspired style that he has become so known for. The show featured a huge variety of different styles to fawn over from the expert tailoring of boxy, oversized blazers cutting dramatic silhouettes to more casual looks that still look delightfully elegant and sophisticated, such as hoodies paired with sandals to a chic black turtleneck paired with baggy black trousers. Sweeping dresses also made an appearance with a fantastic pink sheer number closing out the show in stunning fashion.

The talent will be showcased in a multitude of ways, including 37 catwalk shows, 9 presentations, 5 appointments, 34 events and 66 digital activations available on the Official Digital Hub, londonfashionweek.co.uk.

The City-Wide Celebration programme is also returning this season, with the aim of uniting London in a festival of creativity and innovation. To achieve this, a full schedule of events and activations will be open to the public from Friday 18th to Tuesday 22nd February 2022 alongside the LFW show schedule, following relevant Government safety guidelines.
