Fox was born in Milan in 1990, where she lived for six years before moving to New York. Growing up in two fashion capitals, it’s no surprise Julia has made recent headlines for her outlandish style.

The 31- year old actress first made the spotlight in 2019 for her debut role in comedy/ drama Uncut Gems, where she played the love interest and mistress of the main character Howard Ratner (played by Adam Sandler). The star made a name for herself straight away, receiving breakthrough actor nominations for her impressive portrayal of the bitter-sweet reality of dating a wealthy gangster.

Not only is the star a talented actress, but she is also steadily becoming a fashion icon. Recently, Fox was in the limelight for her dauntless, femme-fatale ensemble of ultra low-rise leather pants, leather cropped tee, and leather gloves. She rocked the fierce look whilst attending dinner at LA hotspot ‘Delilah’ with her beau West and singer Madonna. The dinner soon took a turn, becoming more about raunchy photos than food, with Fox saying;

 “I wasn’t obsessed with the Caesar salad. How could you be obsessed with a Caesar salad when you’re sitting next to fucking Madonna?“

Last week, at the Kenzo fashion show Julia confirmed that cone bras are in this season. She wore a double denim cone bra with a daring ultra-black shadow that matched the star’s dominatrix inspired style. This was also the red carpet debut for her and Kanye as a couple, with their ship name ‘Juliye’ being adopted.

The couple then went on to attend the Schiaparelli SS22 Haute Couture fashion show, wearing all-black leather outfits that perfectly intertwined with each others. Julia’s makeup was just as eye-catching as her outfit, with a graphic, smudged intense black cat eye designed by none other than Pat McGrath.

It’s not surprising the actress knows how to make a bold fashion statement after Kanye was rumoured to have recently gifted his new girlfriend an entire wardrobe of Diesel attire. But the credit for the fearless fashion style of Fox can’t all go to Ye.

After working in the fashion industry before her rise to fame, it’s safe to say Julia knows a thing or two about how to dress. Before her acting days, Julia owned a women’s knitwear line ‘Franziska Fox’, with friend Briana Andalore in 2014. She created a collection that she described as ‘unafraid’ – a characteristic her fashion sense still portrays. She also dabbles in modelling, having featured as a model in campaigns for Diesel, Coach New York and Valentino, demonstrating Fox’s clear passion for fashion from her early years.

With a wicked style, famous boyfriend, and rumours the star may play Madonna in her upcoming biopic, we will likely be seeing a lot more of Fox in months to come.

Appropriately named, The Lunar Waltz is nostalgic in its celestial dream-like qualities, with reflective surfaces and artfully sculpted skirts adorned with abstract paintings. Founder of T Label Taylor-Bea ‘daydreamed of escapism, toes in the sand of California beaches and the glamour of Hollywood in a winter’, the idea of which is tangible in the latest collection which carries a sense of ‘hiraeth’ with it.

The collection experiments with warm, romantic nude tones blended with the primary colours displayed in the likes of Piet Mondrian’s works. These palettes work well with the spring/summer aura which the collection carries in its hints of swimwear.

The collection offers a sense of escapism, a much-shared desire amongst us all. This was exactly the focus for T LABEL, as they disclosed; “T LABEL has always been about fantasising. These elements combined form The Lunar Waltz, from lyrics by Arctic Monkeys, focusing on the future, admiration of space-age design and the desire of trips to California. These were all my escapisms throughout the beginning of 2021”.

T LABEL describes The Lunar Waltz as a part of a sequel of collections, which is a part of designer Taylor’s desire to push for slow fashion, reminding audiences and the industry that smaller designers have a lot to tackle.

The Lunar Waltz experiments with the idea of slow fashion through the eye of a film director, hence the Hollywood, nostalgic glamorous feel to the designing and styling of T LABEL’s first collection. Portraying the collection in this manner allows audiences time to absorb the details of the collection fully, such as the satin detailing on the structured organza dress, or the matching exaggerated disco tiled gloves and metallic open back swimsuit pieces.

This collection bridges the gap between the longing for a post-pandemic world and the comfort of dreaming for one whilst still indoors, and for T LABEL, it’s filled with the aesthetics of ‘60s-meets-outer-space Hollywood glamour.

Designer Taylor wishes to gradually expand on this collection, stating; “There were things I wanted to do within this collection that I couldn’t do due to time, budget, and running a global business from home. I wasn’t willing to let go of my ideas and miss out on developing the collection further”. All this is great news for us, as it means the excitement of The Lunar Waltz will only be expanded upon in time.

What if the 1940s Hollywood – the Golden Age – had all its doors open to ethnic minorities and gays? This is the question behind Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix series.In the past, Hollywood cinema was never as diverse and acceptive as it is today. Prejudices and stereotypes were at the basis of that constructed world, which hid them behind the characters and places of a story. Murphy’s Hollywood is an alternative universe in which very contemporary storylines are introduced along with scandalous deceptions – typical of that age, such as racism, sex for hire, orgies, cult practices and sexism.

Released on May the 1st, Hollywood offers a modern cast which includes David Corenswet, Darren Criss (Glee), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), Samara Weaving (Ready Or Not), Laura Harrier (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Jeremy Pope and more; with the appearances of Queen Latifah, Mira Sorvino, Rob Reiner and Paget Brewster. The plot blends together facts and fiction, presenting us with both historical figures – such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Anna May Wong and Rock Hudson – and invented characters like Jack Castello, Archie Coleman and Camille Washington. The ‘faction’ (half fact, half fiction), as Murphy calls it, follows real-life events such as Hattie McDaniel’s win at the Oscars – and rewrites them with new and fictional characters like Camille Washington.

Set in the 1940s, the story revolves around a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers as they try to make it in Tinseltown.

Each one of the highlights the different biases of the Hollywood system in regards to race, gender and sexuality. The series is not only a controversial drama, but it also displays a vivid aesthetic with bright colours and matching costumes that capture the essence of the 40s and develop it in a contemporary style. There are powerful messages in every costume: the main female protagonists are shown in simple pencil skirts topped with tight cardigans or knee-length dresses paired with matching gloves and cardigan, which are often in very colourful and bright colours to represent their passionate nature. Some of the outfits are still a trend to this day, such as the loose suiting and the paired cardigan-skirts. Men, on the other hand, portray that sense of masculinity and are often enclosed in the macho style because of the high- waist trousers and the large lapels to highlight their muscular shoulders. However, the classic and elegant Oscar gowns and suits aren’t missing and they do not fail to represent the moment.The costume designers, Sarah Evelyn and Lou Eyrich revealed in an interview with Vogue that they were inspired by Murphy’s vision and managed to create reminiscent looks as well as experimenting with contemporary trends and colours.

Hollywood is now available on Netflix with all the 7 episodes. If you are looking for a recall to the past but with a modern and controversial twist, then this is the show for you.

Awards show season has officially begun with the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards. Historically an exciting part of any red carpet is the incredible fashion, and the 2018 ceremony saw the stars make a group stand.

With the unveiling of Time’s Up, an action plan that aims to tackle the sexual harassment and the industry’s power imbalances, Hollywood’s most powerful stars opted for a bold fashion statement. Many attendees chose to wear beautiful black dresses and Time’s Up pins to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault and harassment.

Among the stars wearing black were Reece Witherspoon, Eva Longoria, Meryl Streep and many more. The men also showed their support for the movement, with Justin Timberlake, among others, participating in the fashion blackout.

This powerful move has made an impact for the start of the awards season, and we wonder what future red carpets will bring.
