Open until 30 September, Jimmy Choo’s new table is located on the fifth floor of the department stores’, just a few strategic steps from the shoe area.

For this gastronomic incursion, the house is giving pride of place to an Instagrammable atmosphere, a vector for capturing a connected clientele and increasing visibility on social networks. Logotype tableware, fleece decor, golden mirror… The brand has opted for a full-fuchsia design, a colour that Jimmy Choo has highlighted in several of its collections in recent years. 

As for the menu, it has been imagined by Harrods’ chefs, with pastries, snacks, and drinks. On the menu: raspberry croissant, summer berry jelly, pink champagne, crostini puffs, mini-sandwiches, or a variation of typically British teas and infusions.

But really, the “Choo Café” is not so much about the food. The fabulous fuchsia interiors and pink JC branded decoration have been designed as a nod to the brand’s latest handbag line. Through this initiative, the house intends to boost the launch of its “Varenne Avenue” handbag collection, which should be unveiled this autumn. 

This pop-up operation also embodies the gastronomic diversification carried out by luxury players. In Miami, Fendi opened a café inspired by its 2022 summer line, while Veuve Clicquot installed its Sunny Side Up Café in London as part of its anniversary campaign. Recently, Louis Vuitton inaugurated its first restaurant in France, a few months after the opening of a Dior table and a Gucci cocktail bar.

From permanent spaces to ephemeral initiatives, fashion brands now rhyme with culinary tasting.

Considering the sneaker market is worth $6 billion a year and expected to reach 30 billion by 2030, The Edit LDN and Harrods have definitely made the right move. The soaring demand for these goods is off charts and will only continue to rise from now on, therefore partnerships such as this one can guarantee prosperous results.

Aside from all the economic benefits, this is extremely important for all the sneaker fans out there, precisely for female sneakerheads who wish to purchase things they wouldn’t normally have access to.

Both Beauty advisors were flown out to Huda’s headquarters in Dubai to work with the founder Huda Kattan to develop the liquid matt product. Shades were picked not just on their personal preferences, but also their insider knowledge from working behind the counter and their ability to tell what the consumer wants. Kattan explained: ‘Our BA’s (beauty advisors) are there and they are hustling and working so hard to make all of your dreams come true. It was really special for us to bring them home to Dubai, and to let them get their hands dirty and be involved in the PD (product design) process.’

Queen of Sheba created by Harrods beauty advisor Bilkis, is a cool pink tone. In a recent Instagram, Huda Kattan proudly explains the packaging, which is a line drawing of the iconic storefront with the lipstick displayed through the middle. This was particularly special for Kattan, as Harrods was the first retailer to welcome Huda Beauty to the UK.  

Over on their Instagram, Sana talks about her ‘perfect red’ shade which took 2 years to create, dubbed Girl on Fire. ‘Beauty is all about exploring you, I feel like this is where beauty truly lies’ she explained, ‘this shade represents light and radiance, which is what my name means.’

Both colours are hailed as ‘fit for royalty’ and when asked about what makes these lipsticks so special Kattan elucidates ‘that they came straight from the heart of Sana and Bilkis. Everything we create is from the heart, and it was awesome to see the same philosophy instilled in these beautiful women. They were made by powerful women to be worn by powerful beauty-lovers!’

These are all our favourite beauty advent calendars to add to your wish-list this year – and everything you need to know about getting your hands on them.

It may seem a bit early to be thinking about advent calendars – but some of these product selections are quite literally too good to be true, and sell out in minutes. Many calendars’ contents value between £500 and £1000, while their cost price is a fraction of this – and so these seemingly extravagant investments prove to be a fun, festive way to try out some of the best luxury beauty products of 2020 for well below retail prices.

Cult Beauty

Our first pick is a classic – The Cult Beauty Advent Calendar. In stock soon, but there is a waiting list that you can join now for priority access. With a price tag of £199, this pick gets the most value for money as its contents are worth over £930! A perfect mixture of skincare and make-up – there is sprinkling of all the top brands, from Too Faced and Natasha Denona to Oskia and Votary. Plus, they are promising to donate £15 from every calendar sold to Beauty Banks – a charity that supports those in poverty with basic hygiene and personal care essentials.

Fortnum and Mason

Another luxurious option is Fortnum’s Beauty Advent Calendar. Its’ extravagant red and gold design will look very festive on your vanity – and its contents will not disappoint. Worth over £800, with the price tag of £195, this calendar stocks beauties from Sol de Janeiro, Chantecaille, Guerlain and Sisley. This is available to buy now, though it won’t be shipped until the 24th September.

Look Fantastic

A more affordable pick from our selection is the LOOKFANTASTIC Advent Calendar – coming in with a price point of £85, but with products totalling over £460. This doesn’t launch until 12th October, but is available to pre-order – which is advised, as this favourite has sold out 5 years in a row. They are quite secretive online about what you can expect inside, but there are 25 products ranging from skincare, makeup, haircare and bodycare – so this sell-out is unlikely to disappoint.

Liberty London

Next up is the infamous Liberty Beauty Advent Calendar – it launches in October and is known to sell out very quickly, but there’s an option on their website to sign up to be emailed for when it is released. For £215, this offers over £789 worth of products from brands such as Herbivore, Diptyque, Aveda and Hourglass. This calendar is known for its stunning appearance, and as each product is stored in little pull out drawers, you could always refill and use again next year!

Glossy Box

Glossybox Advent Calendar is a bundle of pastel pink and rose gold that puts a true millennial spin on the festive spirit – and is available for just £80 if you are a subscriber to them, and £99 if you aren’t. For an array of beauty treats from Fenty Beauty, Lime Crime, Huda Beauty and Pixi be sure to sign up to priority access by the 8th September.

Space NK

Space NK was slightly later to the advent calendar trend – with their first being only last year – but it delivered in true Space NK style, jam-packed with high-end beauty must-haves. Their Beauty Anthology II will be available by October 1st, with pre-order starting from September 23rd, and promises to stock a sweeping range of luxury beauty staples. There is a splattering of skincare hero’s such as Paula’s choice, Sturm and Drunk Elephant as well as make-up legends Nars and Hourglass – all worth over £480, with the price tag of £195.

Harrods

Last but by no means least, we have the Harrods’ Beauty Advent Calendar. This iconic retailer delivers a high-end array of beauty products all stylishly displayed in a traditional Harrod’s green double-doored box. Once again, there is a wide selection of beauty favourites, from 111skin, Sunday Riley, Dr Sebagh and Acqua de Parma – and is available to purchase for £250 on October 1st.
