There are hundreds of ways to do your part and with terms like ‘climate positive’, ‘circular’ and ‘wish cycling’ swirling around it’s important to educate ourselves on how to make a positive impact for our slowly withering planet.

Let’s start with our beauty and lifestyle routines and try to select brands that have an eco-friendly conscious. Most products on the shelves use an obscene about of plastic packaging with wholly unnecessary secondary boxes which more often than not, are tossed into landfills or dumped unceremoniously. We’ve collated some products that champion the environment, and are recyclable or refillable, that are sure to make you and the planet happy.

We Are Paradoxx Detox Dry Shampoo

Founder Yolanda Cooper firmly believed when setting up a beauty line that she did not want to contribute to the ‘planetary crisis’ that is plastic pollution. So her brand focused on producing 90% plastic-free, certified organic, sustainably sourced, Peta and Leaping Bunny certified haircare that can be used by absolutely everyone. On top of all this, they have established a Plastic Beauty Day in 2019 which happens on the 17th of June (so soon!) This shampoo will transform oily hair with its purifying activated charcoal and Kaolin Clay to remove toxins.

Faith in Nature Coconut and Shea Butter Shampoo Bar

Faith in Nature has been committed to sustainable beauty since 1974, and their vegan and Leaping Bunny approved hair and skincare range is made in the UK and housed in 100% recycled materials. Wherever possible, they use organic products and you will be able to refill in selected stores up to 5 litres. 

Burt’s Bees Glossy Lipstick

This gorgeous lipstick is made from 100% natural products to provide long-wearing colour whilst moisturizing and conditioning lips. Its lightweight formula is ideal for every day and it doesn’t come with any unnecessary packaging (like secondary boxes) and the tube is made out of 52% recycled plastic. Even better, the lipstick doesn’t contain any metal or magnets which equates to less of a carbon footprint during transportation. Looking fabulous whilst saving the planet? Yes, please.

Izzy Zero Waste Mascara

Hailed as ‘the world’s first zero-waste mascara’ Izzy’s newest release is reusable, recyclable and Carbon Neutral. Due to its medical-grade stainless steel tube designed for umpteenth refills, when you’re done with it, it can be dropped in a multi-use mailer where even the shipping process is zero-waste, leaving your conscious environmentally clear.

L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream

Our hands need extra TLC in the summer, and this beauty has won a GH Sustainable Packaging Award for its completely recyclable aluminum tube. The lotion is made with shea butter to add more nourishment to rough patches and it smells divine.

Beeswax Food Wraps

Beeswax food wraps are a substitute for single-use plastic. They’re made out of cotton, beeswax, jojoba oil and tree resin and can be rinsed multiple times in cold water and mild soap in between uses. What could be better for all your summertime picnics?

Eco-friendly beauty products are now more available than ever before. Sustainability has become increasingly popular recently due to the deteriorating environment. When it comes to beauty, the industry is sadly well known for its negative impact on the environment. However, many beauty brands have been changing the ingredients within their products and how they package them. We have collated a few of the brands offering sustainable beauty products.

Face Halo

Fenty Skin Refills

Sustainability sits at the heart of Fenty Skin. One of the ways Fenty Skin is environmentally friendly is by their refillable packaging. Popular products such as the Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturiser and SPF have a refillable option to purchase to save buying a whole new one. As well as being cruelty-free and vegan, the Hydra Vizor is also non-comedogenic, meaning it is suitable for those with acne-prone skin. As it says in its name, this SPF is invisible. Therefore, it works well on all skin tones. 

Another Fenty Skin product in the refillable range is the Overnight Recovery Gel-Cream Refill.
