Red carpets may have vanished but, luckily for us, the fashion that characterises them
hasn’t…Celebrities have simply transported these events to the comfort of their own spaces. You may be worried about the effort put behind their looks, afterall it has become a digital event, but the Critics Choice Awards 2021 has proved that there’s nothing to worry about.

The ceremony, which awards prizes to the best films and television programs in accordance with accredited critics, was as fashion-forward as ever. With the participation of all our favourite personalities, from Zendaya styled in Valentino Haute Couture to Yara Shahidi in Dior, fashion remained a central aspect and allowed us to admire the variety of their looks in an instant manner via high-quality Instagram posts and entertaining short-clips.

Emma Corrin in Schiaparelli

A decorated velvet mini dress by Schiaparelli and Jimmy Choo pumps, the Crown actress that enchanted us with her talent managed to do the same with her fashion choice. The structure of the dress, the cut-out design, and the eccentric tones given by the detailed yet macro embellishments resonated with her presence and made her the star of night. The presentation of the outfit, via a series of pictures taken by William Waterworth accentuated the beauty of the look and undoubtedly made up for the digital take on the event.

Anya Taylor-Joy in Christian Dior SS20 Couture

The personalised Christian Dior Haute Couture dress worn by Anya Taylor is the stunning demonstration that a pandemic hasn’t put a hold on fashion. The amaranth colour of the dress, its intertwined details, matching but subtle gloves and the choice of Bvlgari jewellery resulted in a dream-like look characterised by elegance.

Phoebe Dynevor in Custom Louis Vuitton

Bridgeton’s leading character, and one of our favourites too, left the classicism associated with her fictional persona for a modern leather look by Louis Vuitton. A daring choice designed by Nicolas Ghesquière that contrasted from the period drama but maintained a sense of class despite its ‘futuristic’ styling.

Gillian Anderson in Christian Dior SS18 Couture

One can never go wrong with a suit, but this one exceeded our expectations. The flattering structure of the Dior haute couture design and its voluminous yet symmetric collar transformed a choice that by many can be considered as ‘overseen’ into a minimal but particular look.

Amanda Seyfried in Custom Miu Miu

If the minimal choice worn by Gillian Anderson did not convince you we are certain that this one will. Amanda Seyfried’s custom Miu Miu look elevated to the ‘suit’ choice and presented the versatility of such a classic outfit. The combination of transparency and embellishments in the top embodied femininity and outweighed the ‘classic’ aspect of the look with all-black Stuart Weitzman pumps and delicate Fred Leighton jewellery.
