Alongside Glasto, Reading & Leeds is the first festival that springs to mind when you think of the quintessential British festival. And there’s good reason for that. Year after year the festival has been delivering the best music acts, crowd, food, and atmosphere guaranteeing you a riotously good memorable weekend. This year is destined to be no different with ‘Bad Habits’ singer Steve Lacy, Grammy-nominated indie band Wet Leg, princess of alt-pop Billie Eilish, and Britain’s biggest rapper Central Cee among those taking the stage.

All Points East

Victoria Park in London will house the fifth All Points East Festival this Summer. Despite being fairly new this festival has already staged some of the biggest names in music including Lorde, St Vincent, Little Simz, Christine and the Queens, Jorja Smith, Gorillaz, and Tame Impala. So far only the headliner Stormzy has been announced on the 18^th August but he alone is enough to make us itch to join the fun. More amazing artists are to be revealed for the date soon according to All Points East’s Instagram account.

If indie rock is your jam, then the line-up on the 25^th August will be the one for you. With The Strokes, Girl in Red, Angel Olsen, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs playing and with more acts yet to be revealed there’s plenty of good music to soak up.

All Points East will also be hosting Field Day Festival on the 19^th August which boasts some of the best innovative artists working in electronica and EDM today. Aphex Twin will be headlining, performing for the first time since 2019 in a triumphant return. He’ll be joined by R&B singer Kelela, the eccentric Fever Ray, and It-girl Sudan Archives.

Coachella

To be in the sunny California desert sipping a margarita whilst watching our favourite musicians live would be dreamy right now. Coachella is the exemplar luxury festival with gourmet food, soft grass, influencers cooling off under palm trees, and of course not a drop of mud in sight darling. This year’s line-up is as stellar as always with Bad Bunny, Gorillaz, Charlie XCX, Frank Ocean, and Kali Uchis performing – and that’s just to name a few! If you’re lucky enough to get a ticket, make sure you bring plenty of sun cream because it’s not just that artists that are scorching hot out there.

Boomtown

Boomtown is the trippy festival that transports its citizens to another reality each year with creative scenery, dedicated actors, and of course other-worldly music acts. After having to take a couple of years off due to Covid-19 the ‘chapters’ for the festival have reset making the theme this year Chapter Two: The Twin Trail, which follows on from last year’s theme Chapter One: The Gathering. Although the line-up has yet to be announced we know it will include some of the best artists in electro, house, DnB, hip hop, and jungle. On their website Boomtown announced they “made the decision to keep most of the line up a secret until just before the festival” – the wait is tantalising! Last year included such gems as the Nova Twins, De La Soul, Four Tet, and Shy FX. If you’re a raver at heart this fest is for you.

Primavera Sound

You’ll want to book flights for Spain or Portugal as soon as you see the line-up for this year’s Primavera Sound. The festival is taking place in three different locations this year with slight tweaks in each fest but is still jam-packed with the best artists on the scene. With the line-ups featuring such greats as Halsey, Kendrick Lamar, Christine and the Queens, Georgia, Japanese Breakfast, Calvin Harris, Rosalía, FKA Twigs, Arlo Park, Caroline Polachek, Yves Tumor , Alex G, PinkPantheress, and Alvvays, we’re not surprised this one of the most-attended festivals in Europe.

Mad Cool Fest

The Spanish music festival Mad Cool held in Madrid has released a star-studded line-up full of pop, rap, and DJ artists you’ll be desperate to see this Summer featuring ‘About Damn Time’ singer Lizzo, our favourite stylish cowboy Lil Nas X, the super chic Rina Sawayama, and the iconic DJ The Blessed Madonna. The festival also promises heat, yummy Spanish cuisine, and one hell of a party.

 British Summer Time Festival Hyde Park

British Summer Time Festival is a legendary event started back in 2013 that is held over multiple weekends. In the past, the festival has seen some iconic headliners such as Kylie Minogue, Adele, Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, and Florence + The Machine. Now K-Pop fans will be overjoyed to hear that BLACKPINK have been announced as one of the headliners for this year’s British Summer Time Festival held at the beautiful Hyde Park in London. The performance will be their UK festival debut and they’re sure to bring their A-game. Support acts for the festival have yet to be announced so keep an eye out for more killer acts. Tickets are on sale now.

Superstar P!nk will also be headlining British Summer Time over two dates due to popular demand! Supporting the bubble gum princess will be fellow pop songstress Gwen Stefani. With tickets already sold out for the Saturday make sure you snatch up your tickets for the following day.

With more headliners to be announced soon British Summer Time has something for everyone.

Boardmasters

Those who have been to Boardmasters before know it’s a truly unique experience attending a music festival by the sea. The festival takes place on the beautiful Cornish coastline with the opportunity to explore the surfing bars and shops, watch the sunset on the beach, or even take surfing lessons yourself. Although the full list of artists is yet to be confirmed with Little Simz and Florence + the Machine there this year will be a vibe.

Parklife

We are beyond hyped for Parklife this year. The Manchester festival dropped their line-up on the 1^st February with a host of incredible artists such as modern hip hop royalty Little Simz, house hero Fred Again…, the queen of jungle Nia Archives, the contemporary girl group FLO and the captivating Shygirl. Tickets will be on sale Friday 3^rd February – hurry they’re bound to be swooped up with this mad and very tasty bill.

TRNSMT

Glaswegians won’t have to travel very far to hear some great live acts with TRNSMT just around the corner. This year the festival, which takes places on Glasgow Green, will host a myriad of amazing artists over the weekend including FLO, Cat Burns, Mimi Webb, The 1975, and Becky Hill. TRNSMT first started in 2017. After receiving criticism in 2019 that only 20% of the line up were female the festival opened the ‘Queen Tut’s’ stage hosting female only musicans. The line-up looks a pretty even split this year with some of our favourite female acts on the bill. See you in Scotland.

Wide Awake

Wide Awake is an independent festival for those looking to discover their newest favourite act. The festival, which takes place in Brockwell Park, London, will host some of the most exciting new acts in indie, electronica, techno featuring Caroline Polachek, Shygirl, Two Shell, CouCou Chloe, Molchat Doma, and Alex G. Starting in 2021, the festival has been praised by attendees as a jubilant and joyful event celebrating the best new acts on the scene.

Wireless

Wireless has announced the first acts in their 2023 line up and already it looks like it will be the best weekend of the summer. On 25^th January, the Wireless team took to social media to announce that ‘Magnolia’ rapper Playboi Carti, pop culture legend Travis Scott, hip hop collective D-Block Europe would be headlining, and Grammy-winning rapper 50 Cent will appear as a special guest. The cheeky Lil Uzi Vert, exciting newcomer Ice Spice, British rapper Headie One, R&B singer Bryson Tiller, the badass from Brooklyn Joey Bada$$, the hottest new girl group FLO, and Jamaican singer Popcaan will be performing, and the baddie GloRilla will be making her UK festival debut. With more names on their way and such a stellar line-up already, we’ll be dancing all weekend.

The song is a beautiful ode to past love and the ability to wish them well, Kali shares “This song is about being able to release people with love”.

“It could be a friend, a lover, or someone else, but the point is to celebrate releasing people from your life without being resentful or bitter.”

Kali Uchis on ‘I Wish You Roses’

The release comes shortly after Kali was announced as a performer at Coachella this April, where she will take to the stage ahead of Rosalia and Bjork on the festival’s closing night.

The music video, directed by Cho Gi-Seok, is romantic and ethereal. The floral-inspired video has both a natural and fantastical feel to it as we see Kali both surrounded by and encompassing nature. It shows Kali lying in fields of roses, being rained on by petals and imitating flowers with her makeup looks. One thing to be noted about this music video, which is visually outstanding, is that the styling is impeccable. Kali Uchis is always doing something interesting with her style and we can always rely on her serve a look on every occasion, and this music video is no exception.

Let’s just start with the cover art for the single. This vibrant image features one of the looks from the music video for which Kali was painted by makeup artist Oh Seong Seok. The merging of Kali’s body paint with the projection of a rose accurately depicts the delicate nature of humanity, a theme that is particularly prominent in this song and through the music video’s styling.

The music video opens with some of the most intricately detailed beauty looks you can imagine, from orchid inspired lipstick to petals used as false eyelashes, the nature-inspired makeup looks were imaginative and captivating. The floral inspired vision was perfectly executed by makeup artist Ivan Núñez who utilised vibrant colours and a variety of textures, including jewels and that resembled drops of dew, to achieve the finished looks.

We are then transported to a field of roses where we find Kali lying amongst the petals and thorns in a custom mawar dress from Veldon Salim. This look yet again ties in with the theme of delicacy that is prominent throughout the music video. The fine fabric of the dress juxtaposes the thorns surrounding it, emphasising the beauty of fragility, while the romantic silhouette recentres one of the most delicate of human emotions, love.

Potentially the best look in the music video was the flamboyant red dress that was made from a structured mesh in order to replicate the shape of a rose. The star of this look is the delicate floral headpiece by Gabe Sin which frames the face with layers of vibrant red flowers. There was not a stone in this look left unturned with absolutely everything you can think of being considered and accounted for; the look even featured a vine-inspired detail wrapping around Kali’s legs as if they were the roots of a plant, a detail that truly speaks to how much thought has gone into these looks.

The video closes with Kali falling asleep in closing flower wearing a sparkling floral busier and short set. This brings a beautiful end to the floral themed outfits with a romantic and delicate look that emphasises the beauty in vulnerability that the song speaks of.

After Covid related delays and cancellations over the past two years, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is back at its California home for ready for 2022. Announcing this year’s lineup on Instagram, Coachella confirmed the festival would be going ahead, running across two weekends in April, the 15-17 and the 22-24.

Featuring an array of star-studded performers, Harry Styles will be headlining alongside Billie Eilish and Ye (Kanye West). Other acts set to be performing include, Disclosure, Doja Cat, Arlo Parks, and Peggy Gou.

The annual festival will take place at its usual setting in the Indio Desert, east of Palm Springs, California. And it is expected that a bunch of trendy guests will be in attendance at this year’s event. Previous years have seen the likes of Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Hailey Bieber make their way to the desert to enjoy a stylish weekend of music and arts.
