The long-anticipated Coachella lineup is now here and whether or not you plan on attending the festival, we have compiled a list of the best albums to listen in preparation to familiarise yourself with the headliners.

With three big-name headliners: Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK and Frank Ocean, we are guaranteed  some majorly fresh tunes this spring.

Frank Ocean

As fans seemingly predicted online, Frank Ocean is set to perform this April, after being part of the cancelled 2020 lineup and dropping out of 2021’s festival, it was only right for him to make an appearance this year, as in conversation with the Los Angeles Times, co-founder Paul Tollett it was made clear that the festival was in pursuit of him.

Not having released a full album since Blonde in 2016, we would make it a must-listen-to-album pre-Coachella. Frank Ocean’s discography would prove to only occupy two hours of your time and so why not give his debut album channel ORANGE a listen to further gauge the nature of his lyricism?

Bad Bunny

For the artist attached to 2022’s biggest album Un Verano Sin Ti and Spotify’s appointed most-streamed artist of 2022, Bad Bunny’s headline only made sense to us.

Latin, electronic, hip hop, trap, reggae, pop, house, etc. the list goes on. Bad Bunny for sure will be providing an ambient atmosphere with his performances at Coachella weekends this year.

To prepare, we would suggest listening to his latest and increasingly most prolific album Un Verano Sin Ti. Providing an amalgamation of Caribbean summer tunes to uplift your aura and supply the vibes perfect for a festival of exuberance.

BLACKPINK

Exciting revelations! BLACKPINK stand as the first-ever k-pop headliner at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, since the inaugural festival was held in 1999.

Actively performing within the mainstream since 2016, girl group BLACKPINK, consisting of four members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa, has quickly made its mark on the industry. Having won/ been nominated for various MTV, MAMA, Teen Choice and more awards, it only makes sense for them to headline at this year’s festival and continue to diversify the festivals’ image. We suggest that you give their newest 2022 album a listen to hype yourself up for their highly anticipated set.

Get ready to grab your weekend passes and embark on a melodic desert escapade this spring!

The mesh veil and pearl neckpiece paired with the sporty outfit releases an essence of the label’s fresh movement in the direction of experimental and edgy.

Only a week earlier when the netizens were going gaga over Jennie’s cute Chanel monogram top on one of her Instagram posts, fans now can’t wait for what comes next in this power-packed campaign and so can’t we. The Coco Neige campaign was released today and the collection is set to storm selected stores from October 19th, 2021.

Produced by Tommy Brown and Steve Franks and co-written by Ariana Grande, Victoria Monét, Teddy Park and Bekuh BOOM, the song has revolutionized the world of English K-pop with more than 100 million views on YouTube and bring us a colourful video clip, worthy of summer with flirty and fun lyrics surrounded by style, attitude and ice cream.

A mix of K-pop and American pop with an ice cream cart song background, “Ice Cream” is set in a pastel aesthetic, with lots of fun, from an ice cream van staffed by Selena Gomez to game sets, bicycles, floats, balloons, and girly cars where rapper Lalisa ‘Lisa’ Manoban, Korean singer Kim ‘Jisoo’ Ji-soo, kiwi belter Roseanne ‘Rosé’ Park and Korean singer Jennie Kim show us their pop moves.

Each of these talented girls reflects sweetness and charisma in the video clip. Selena takes us to a pin-up aesthetic, with retro ponytails or waves in a sailor-style with a red set of white lines, or blue paper bags with white dots with a puffed sleeves crop top and a yellow plaid jumpsuit with red lips and big hoops. It’s time to end our summer with this catchy song and give it a pink and sweet touch along with a good jar of ice cream, Selena Gomez’s creation allied with Serendipity, with Cookies and Cream Remix flavour, full of femininity, sweetness, and a lot of chocolate like their video clip. Obvious, worthy of the culinary creativity that the American artist has shown us in her HBO Max series, Selena + Chef.
