We’ve all fallen in love with Billy Porter after the Oscar’s red carpet back in 2019, in which he pulled off exquisitely a custom-made long velvet skirt by Christian Siriano. The actor and fashion icon that stars in the Netflix TV series Pose by Ryan Murphy, has unexpectedly dropped a fashion collaboration with the Jimmy Choo house, on the occasion of Pride Month 2021. The shoe capsule collection, which features exclusively gender-neutral shoes, is aimed to be worn by everyone (even in terms of sizes, from a EU36 to a 45)

No other brand than Jimmy Choo could have made this luxurious, exclusive footwear collaboration any better. A brand that is keen on inclusivity and empowering all. But this collaboration is also the result of a profound friendship between Billy and the maison’s creative director Sandra Choi. She revamped some of the most iconic shoe designs of the brand, playing on their colorations: ranging from bright bursts of colours to nuances of gold and more extravagant animalier prints.

As Billy recalls in a Vogue interview, this capsule collection is dedicated to a very dear person to him, his mother. His mother because her biggest dream as a disabled woman was to walk with a pair of heels. She’s never been able to achieve that dream, but Billy is keen on continuing her dream in front of the whole world.

This capsule collection is not just an homage to Billy’s mother. It has made its objective to help the Trevor Project, an organization that deals with emergencies and suicide attempts in the LGBTQ+ community. For this special occasion, Jimmy Choo has decided to donate 100 thousand dollars to the organization, dearly supporting their life saving programs.
