Described as ‘clean makeup for sensitive skin’ the brand uses non-toxic, non-irritating ingredients that you can actually pronounce. Known for its foolproof formulations of cream-based bronzers, highlighters and blushes that you simply tap on with your finger (without the need of a mirror) the products are suitable for all skin types – even those with skin conditions like eczema, something founder Amy Liu has dealt with her whole life.

“I wanted to be able to use makeup but I was also so worried about making my skin worse,” she said. “When your skin is damaged, you have this guilty feeling when using products because you’re like, listen, I want it to be better, but at the same time, am I the one who’s making it worse because I keep putting more stuff on?”

So, after working in the beauty industry for the likes of Smashbox and Kate Somerville and finding nothing to suit her skin condition, she created Tower 28. To make doubly sure the brand was safe for everyone, she got a stamp of approval from the National Eczema Association in the US, which for Lui, was something really important to her philosophy.

Spanish retail giant Zara is launching their makeup line on May 12th, making it a one-stop shop for your beauty and style needs.

Zara Beauty is curated by the illustrious Diane Kendal. A hugely successful makeup artist, she is a firm favorite of designers such as Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford and is regularly backstage at fashion shows creating unforgettable editorials and runway looks.

When asked about the vision for the line, Kendal muses ‘When Zara approached me to lead the creative direction of Zara Beauty, I saw an opportunity to make something that everyone would want to use. Zara has always reached such a diverse audience, and I wanted to bring that same big vision to beauty with a collection that is clean, refillable, and accessible to all.”

This is certainly true. There are a whopping 130 colours in the line covering lips, eyes, face and nail polishes. Not only is there something for everyone, but by customer request, Kendal has made the range cruelty-free and refillable (very important when considering Zara’s huge global footprint). While prices range from around £5.99 to £17.99, refills are considerably less, marking a particularly affordable price point. Better yet, the packaging is a black and white architectural-esque vibe, with a slight slant inspired by the ‘Z’ in Zara. Very stylish.

To showcase the multitude of looks achievable with Zara Beauty, Kendal has brought together the creative visions of nine different photographers – Craig McDean, David Sims, Fabien Baron, Marilyn Minter, Mario Sorrenti, Nadine Ijewere, Oliver Hadlee Pearch, Steven Meisel, and Zoë Ghertner. Each campaign is mood-board-worthy, with the different talents sharing their vision for the range.

These images make us truly excited for a makeup bag overhaul, and our fingers will be poised over the “add to cart” button on May 12th.
